⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from LOSE IT! Joyful June 2026

Here we are with our July Jumpstart LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on!

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Same as @ChunkyMonkey36 I weigh first thing every morning, naked and after a wee, then log that weight in the HS app.

If you haven’t used the Happy Scale app @Bufftailed it’s worth downloading the free version and giving it a go (I still just use the free one, it does everything i need).

Hello can I join please? I haven't been through all previous messages 😅 I'm not 100% sure on my weight because my scales are bananas! Any recommendations? I've downloaded the foodvice app, trying to focus on meeting protein and fibre targets. I'm breastfeeding my youngest (11mo) so keen to lose slowly and permanently! I'm training for a 10k in October and so aware being lighter would make that easier.

Bufftailed · 16/07/2026 20:48

Welcome @oatybiscuits - I got cheap Argos scales & they seem fine. Have 2 x 10k in September also.

Closed my kitchen on 500 cals today. Also went back to gym having not gone in 9 weeks. The weight loss has to come if I persist 💪🏻

10kstepsaday · 16/07/2026 22:35

Hey all!
Forgot to post my WOW but I was 0.2 of a lb up.

Start Weight: 10 st 8.6
CW: 10 st 5.0
GW: 9 st 7

Today has been awful though I have had v high sugar cravings and have given in massively. Sometimes it 2 steps forward 10 steps back. But got to keep going and trying.

Kitchenbattle · 17/07/2026 06:33

I’m just back from 3 days in Rome where I wasn’t as careful but not crazy either. Back to it today. Weighed myself this morning and I’m 55.8kg which I was surprised at.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 17/07/2026 08:06

Still 14 stone 12. Could it be water?? I'm walking 15000-20000 steps a day, on 1500 calories, I'm 5 feet 9 and that should surely be low enough! If I go any lower, I can't function at work and my cold sores flare up.

It's been five weeks with the same three pounds bouncing about. I should be under 14 and a half by now.

LemonDrizzle23 · 17/07/2026 13:29

@DreamingOfGeneHunt Id give it at least a week of cooler weather to get an accurate reading. The hot weather really does make you trap water!

I’ve had a couple of days at maintenance to give blood, and we’re out for dinner at a bbq joint tonight to celebrate the end of term. Tomorrow I will get back on it!

Fellsbells · 17/07/2026 14:35

@DreamingOfGeneHunt 1500 is definitely low enough. I would be frustrated too. Do you feel like you’re tracking accurately, are you weighing everything and counting liquids, sauces and oils?

Everything! I weigh and measure absolutely everything. I cook from scratch and put every single thing into Nutracheck. I count out my bloody raspberries and blackberries. I'm very tired of it Sad

Fellsbells · 17/07/2026 18:13

@DreamingOfGeneHunt hopefully it’ll start to show on the scales soon.

@DreamingOfGeneHuntim not an expert but it's maybe worth looking outside of food; how's your sleep, stress etc? They can affect how your body manages weight

I haven't really had a decent sleep since my daughter was born in 2018! And always pretty stressed, I'm on my own and have no help.

I've made an appointment with the doctor to see if they have any ideas. Although I expect to be told "eat less and move more"!

Mine told me that fruit, and sugar free juice was bad for me.

Compared to the kebabs and fizzy drinks I was having before.

So best of luck! 😂

Fellsbells · 18/07/2026 09:35

Happy Saturday everyone.

A few weight loss significant dates for me this week. I’ve used Nutracheck for one whole year and have lost 16lbs in that time. Half has been in the last 2 months because I’ve got a good grasp of what works for me. It finally feels sustainable. I’m excited that I could actually maintain this instead of the usually crash then bounce back.
(If anyone is interested I’m doing a 300-500 calorie deficit, 7 days a week, lots of protein, lots of fibre, lots of food, don’t let myself get hungry, at least 3 meals a day & strength training.)

IceLollly · 18/07/2026 10:18

I’m having a sick week, no gym or going out. I even ate 4 donuts and my weight is steady!
donuts were for medicinal reasons.

Kitchenbattle · 18/07/2026 10:22

Morning, I’m back into the swing of things after a few days in Rome. I didn’t go crazy over there but didn’t hold back either. Weight this morning is 55.3kg so I’m happy

Sunflowers83 · 18/07/2026 11:03

Well done @Fellsbells That’s amazing progress! It sounds like you’ve really found what is working for you. Thanks for sharing. May I ask - when you say 300-500 calorie deficit - is that from your Nutracheck maintenance calories? What settings do you have your Nutracheck calories on? I keep playing around with my Nutracheck calories. I’m trying to find what is right for body recomposition and sometimes wonder if I’m under-eating? (But, although I’m a healthy weight, I’m keen to lose my tummy fat!)

Hope you’re ok @IceLollly Great that your weight is steady. Well done!

Well done @Kitchenbattle Sounds like you got a good balance while you were away.

Fellsbells · 18/07/2026 14:09

@Sunflowers83 I’ve never liked the nutracheck calorie allowance. I found it too low and the addition of exercise calories too unpredictable. My maintenance (from a TDEE calculator and my Garmin) is 1800-2000. So I took a gamble and set my nutracheck manually to 1500 and it’s worked.

Sunflowers83 · 18/07/2026 16:34

Thank you for replying @Fellsbells That’s really helpful. Great that you’ve found what is working for you! Do you mind me asking how tall you are? Have I remembered correctly, that you’re now at (or close to) your target weight?

Fellsbells · 18/07/2026 18:27

@Sunflowers83 I’m 165cm and 57kg. Which is below my initial target, but now I’m here I’m carrying on. I’m using my tits as a barometer, when they start to shrink I’ll move to maintenance. 😂

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 19/07/2026 10:52

14 stone 11 today.
I've had enough of 1500 calories so I've set my own 1700 target. My maintenance is 2300 so that's plenty I reckon.

TheRealHousewife · 19/07/2026 14:49

Good Afternoon All

Currently Ive taken a back seat on our threads due to maintaining/gaining (mostly small incremental gains) and feeling somewhat thwarted in my healthy eating efforts. On the plus side I will say some of my metrics have improved such as my blood pressure which is consistently registering as ‘optimal’ which I’m pleased about. Unfortunately my blood sugars still indicate insulin resistance (IR) and my cholesterol levels are very slightly above normal. For those of you who remember I had what was deemed a ‘cardiac event’ last year and I don’t want a repeat. My waist size which I monitor and try to keep under 30 inch’s is currently slightly over as any weight gain is going on around my middle. This is consistent with IR.

Another welcome plus is my hair has thickened and is in what I’d consider good condition for someone in their 60s with hardly any greys. Plus I’ve got a fabulous hairdresser who is very knowledgeable and talented.

A couple of years ago I did the Fast 800 and had fantastic weight loss results which was followed 6 months later with the worst hair shedding that lasted quite a while. Hence I don’t want to reduce calories any further.

I’m thinking my thyroid condition has worsened as this causes spontaneous weight gain. In my next GP review my thyroid hormone levels will be tested but even if they wish to increase my thyroxine I’m reluctant due to increased risks that can bring, especially around brain health.

I recently was discussing the above with my pharmacist and he said I’d be an ideal candidate for Wegovy as it helps with heart health, insulin and blood sugar control, fatigue, reducing inflammation etc. He said any subsequent weight loss is considered a side effect, an appreciated side effect. He said my diet of whole nutritious foods with no added sugars/alcohol/minimal upfs etc was perfect. I must admit it sounds too good to be true and I said I’d give it some thought. A part of me thinks it’s ‘cheating’ (I don’t mean that I think that anyone taking glp1 meds is cheating), a part thinks it’s too good to be true and a small part thinks you’ve done all you can yourself give it a go. What do others think? 🤔

@BreakingBroken @LemonDrizzle23 You're welcome x

@LemonDrizzle23 I love the fact you’re noticing the NSV! Well done! 👏

@10kstepsaday Sending loving kindness. I hope you’re ok. 💐 Congratulations on your loss too x

@Sunflowers83 Youre doing great overall. I’m finding my belly fat the toughest to shift. I love Happy Scale and the little celebrations it gives you.

@namechangefor2mins Waist reduction is such a positive change. Well done!

@Mash88 Welcome to the thread and congratulations on your loss to date! Fantastic progress 👏

@Kitchenbattle Hi, pleased to have you join us. That is awesome progress, well done & congratulations 🥳

@DreamingOfGeneHunt Congratulations on your loss 👏 Reading over the thread I can hear your frustration as you’re doing all the right things. I can’t advise further than I have previously (either beginning of this thread or the previous thread) I’m exactly the same sans exercise as I can’t do much unfortunately. I wish I could say what would help you but can’t think of anything else. Did you visit your GP? Apologies if you’ve previously said. Fingers crossed they can help 🤞.

@IceLollly Thats fantastic, well done! I hope you’re feeling confident in yourself now as well as very proud! Here’s to you having a great holiday ☀️ I’m pleased the donuts hit the spot 😬

@10kstepsaday Your activity during this hot weather is impressive 👏👏👏 What AI app do you have? I love a bit of tech 🙃

You’re very welcome @CherryogDog I had to start taking meds for my thyroid disease several years ago and I’m doing all I can to not have it increased.

Great progress @RoseInAPot 👍

Great progress @ChunkyMonkey36 @mermadeincornwall 👌

Welcome @oatybiscuits don’t worry about your scales, mine are definitely bonkers! Good luck with your training for the 10k 👍

@Kitchenbattle I love Rome! How was it for you?

For those of you will small gains in the hot weather … it’s most likely ‘heat oedema’. It’ll soon whoosh away when it gets a bit cooler.

I hope I haven’t missed anyone out x

A few photos of meals.

@TheRealHousewife I’m also being very quiet as my weight loss is stagnant, week 4 of a plateau.
My exercise motivation is down. But I’ve had a beautiful road trip through the Canadian Rockies, visited with both sons and equally had friends visit.
Dh, wears a Libra 3 sensor; a tiny needle like filament that transmits via Bluetooth to his iPhone his blood sugar level 24/7 (for 15 days before a new sensor is needed). He’s been very good at maintaining his bs levels. Logs ALL his foods and counts carbs staying at 5-15 g per meal. His struggle at the end of the day is not enough calories. The readout plus the nutrition app accuracy has been excellent. The diabetic clinic had zero to add, told him to eat more carbs (aim for 30 g per meal) and yes eat more (he’s not overweight).
WLI have helped me with time to make better food choices, but I know there are metabolic advantages. I’ve been on a very low dose since April (zero side effects, simply content with the current lack of food noise).
