⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from LOSE IT! Joyful June 2026

Here we are with our July Jumpstart LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on!

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

hello, we have been away this weekend so I am just catching up on the posts. I have eaten far too much and feel so ready to start again tomorrow. I will meal prep tonight and get to bed early.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 13/07/2026 08:14

14 stone 10 this morning! Finally. Two weeks to lose 1lb. On the calories it should take to lose 3!

IceLollly · 13/07/2026 09:43

I’ve lost 12 kg since last year, another 9kg till I hit where I was when covid hit. I still feel massive though, I don’t really understand it. lots of stuff is baggy I know. I saw my reflection this morning and I still look so big, it must be the last kilos that make all the difference.
I go away in a month and was hoping to feel more confident in myself.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 13/07/2026 10:04

Keep at it @IceLollly , you are doing brilliantly!

OMAD here today, Persian brunch with a friend who has got me the recipe for the amazing Persian soup from her mum, for anyone who remembers that whole thing.

Have a good day everyone.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 13/07/2026 10:29

@TheWayTheLightFalls ooh could you share the recipe for your Persian soup please?

10kstepsaday · 13/07/2026 15:57

I feel more motivated again this week.
Yesterday I did 45 min strength workout, + 50 minutes outside walk (why is it still so hot though!) and stuck to my calories avoiding any junk.

Today has looked like:
1 hour yoga
45 min lunch time walk
Fage and berries for breakfast
Huel shake for lunch (short on time)
Homemade burgers will be dinner
Snacks - Satuma & 2 hardboiled eggs

I got that AI calorie app with the little character you keep alive 😂like a tamagotchi.
Quite good though for calories I just take a photo of my plate and it scans it to record nutrition - I am too lazy for MFP so this seems to be helping.

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/07/2026 15:16

@10kstepsadaythat sounds like a lovely, healthy day!
Glad you’re seeing some movement @DreamingOfGeneHunt its hard in this weather.

It was so nice and cool this morning - I actually felt human again for a few hours! Lovely weekend away, but lots of food and heat, not sure what WOW looks like tomorrow. Back on it today though and looking forward to the summer hols starting next week. DS is keen to do some yoga with me, so I’m going to try and make sure we do a walk and yoga together a few days a week around play dates etc.

10kstepsaday · 14/07/2026 22:39

@LemonDrizzle23 thats so nice your DS wants to do yoga with you 😊
my kids also love yoga (sometimes!)

Today was:
40 minutes cardio hiit
40 minutes outside walk
Skipped breakfast - so a longer fasting period
Lunch: Huel Shake
Dinner: Chicken Stir Fry
Snacks: 1 banana, 1 Trek Protein Bar
lots and lots of water

feeling positive :)

Fellsbells · 15/07/2026 06:16

wow is up 1lb but I haven’t gone over calories so it must be water/food weight. Maybe even some muscle.

good luck wowers.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 15/07/2026 06:41

Morning! Good work @Fellsbells !

WoW is 66.7kg here - maintaining at a freakishly consistent weight at the moment Grin. All good. Keeping up the weights stuff as best I can in this heat.

Sunflowers83 · 15/07/2026 07:00

Good morning.
Well done @Fellsbells and @TheWayTheLightFalls

Check-in today using my Happy Scale ‘moving average’.
SW (16.06.26): 8st13
Last week: 8st11.7 (I think I reported lower last week, but think I made a mistake!)
Current: 8st12.7
Target weight: ??8st?? (Lose tummy fat!)

I’m a bit disappointed, to be honest, but maybe there are currently too many variables to assess if anything is ‘wrong’ (trying to increase the weights of dumbbells I lift at home and also the hot weather).

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 15/07/2026 07:07

Morning! No change here.

CinnamonSweet73 · 15/07/2026 07:40

Morning all, 74.3kg here so just under the weight I'm looking to maintain for now which is 75kg. Food and exercise both a bit inconsistent recently so I'm happy with that. Off on holidays Friday so will see how I get on!

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/07/2026 07:45

Morning WOWers!

A stay the same here today, which after being away for 4 days, I will take. For me the next challenge is definitely the summer holidays. Often becomes 6 weeks of too little walking and too many treats!

Im giving blood today, so also currently eating at maintenance for a few days. Hopefully I’ll be done before the sun comes out for the afternoon.

CherryogDog · 15/07/2026 08:08

Morning all and thanks for new thread @TheRealHousewife .
Mainly lurked on the last thread, hopefully I'll be a bit more active this time!

I'm another hypothyroid (borderline, waiting for my next blood test).
Has anyone managed to change things without medication?

Food wise, I've kicked the crap food habit into touch. The only time I can't control my eating is if I eat sweet stuff. I don't get the food noise at any other time.
I eat twice a day, often I don't eat until about 3pm. I'll have a salad or eggs on toast.
Dinner is usually whatever DP cooks, he's got a really annoying habit of piling my plate really high, I keep asking him to just give me a small portion and I'll get myself seconds if I want to but he won't listen.
Lately I've been stopping when full but the food waste annoys me.
I've been hovering around 69.8/70 kg for ages, yesterday I was overjoyed to weigh in at 69.0, but I'm back to 69.8 today. Very depressing.
I'm going away for two weeks to a very hilly area, so providing the weather stays on the cooler side I'll be burning some calories off!
Have great days everyone!

RoseInAPot · 15/07/2026 09:03

Good morning WOWers

I’m using my Happy Scale trend weight, and started on 24th June (3 weeks ago) with a weight of 66.5kg.

I hit my first milestone (65.2kg) on Monday.

This morning after weighing my trend is bang on 65kg (actual weight this morning was 64.8kg so continuing in the right direction).

Next milestone is 63.5kg with a predicted date of 5th August. (I can predict that being extended as I am away on holiday soon and will be relaxing!)

I have averaged 1460 calories per day over the last 7 days so a little lower than last week’s 1600 and this is giving me a rate of loss I am happy with, and an amount of food I can live with 😄

According to the trend I’ve lost 1.5kg in total in 3 weeks.

Long term goal is 58.5kg but I would be delighted to be anywhere below 60kg (I’m fairly short, 1.61m)
Lowish carbs, counting calories, logging on Nutracheck.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 15/07/2026 12:02

2lbs off this week!

SW: 16st 10lbs (106.14kg)

How often are you weighing @Bufftailed ? I can easily fluctuate up and down in a 2kg range just depending on the type of food I have eaten (rather than the amount), how hydrated I am, and how hot it is.

It’s why I’m using Happy Scale; it smooths out all the ups and downs and keeps me from losing heart if my weight bumps up even though I have stuck to my calories.

Fellsbells · 16/07/2026 11:53

Me too, I’m 2lbs up, but it has to be water because I’ve not eaten enough to gain fat.

Yep, same.

Weekly weigh in only reflecting that specific day was making me feel like my progress was stalling.

I use Happy Scale, same time every morning, so I can better see the fluctuations and level them off.

Case in point - my weekly weigh in this week was 15st4.5, but my lowest in the 7 days between weeklies was 15st3.5 - had I not weighed daily, I’d have never known that number existed!

Bufftailed · 16/07/2026 12:19

Thanks @RoseInAPot and @ChunkyMonkey36 - do you mean I should weigh everyday? I think I am going to reduce fast days to 500. Also am not holding back enough on non fast days

ChunkyMonkey36 · 16/07/2026 12:24

Thanks @RoseInAPot and @ChunkyMonkey36 - do you mean I should weigh everyday? I think I am going to reduce fast days to 500. Also am not holding back enough on non fast days

I weigh myself immediately after my morning wee, every day, and then track that.

I do use my weight on the day of weekly weighing for my overall tracking, but doing it every day helps me see the patterns and “hidden progress.”

I intermittent fast 16:8 - nothing after 8pm or before 12pm (about to eat for the first time)! But everyday, rather than lower some days and all out on the others. It helps me keep consistent.

I have a day off calorie counting on a Wednesday, but I’m finding that my choices on those days are healthier now anyway so it’s not having any real impact on my progress.
