⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Down 1.9 from last WOW
fitness this week has been difficult although I’m getting the steps, dog walking a teen dog in training and an older dog has ment zero genuine cardio. I’ve not started the weights I’ve wanted either.
equally pleased and disappointed.

Well done wowers.

Just ate the most uninspiring tuna salad for tea. Finished it off with strawberries and greek yoghurt. I’ve realised my normal diet gives me dopamine and that’s why I love eating all the wrong things all the time. What can I do to get the dopamine instead? (I can’t exercise at the moment because of an injury.)

FridayNighFeeling · 10/06/2026 19:35

Square of dark choc after your meal @Fellsbells ?

Don't be so hard on yourself @BreakingBroken the weight didn't come on over night and won't go that fast either - being consistently average and doing the best when life gets tough is what will get you there.

Imthefunfriend · 10/06/2026 21:03

The kitchen is closed.

B - porridge
L - poached salmon salad
D - bacon roll

Snacks - cheese and crackers

Morning 🌞

With my daily weigh-in today, I’m officially in the Overweight BMI category - down from Obese Class 2 in January! I’m very happy about this. Despite BMI falling out of favour a bit as a really good measure of health, it’s more that I haven’t been “just” overweight in probably 2 or 2.5 years now. It also makes my end goal weight of 70kg feel that bit closer!

Meetmeunderthemoonlight · 11/06/2026 07:43

Morning Wowers

Congratulations to everyone who has lost this week 👏
Forgot to weight in yesterday. Just done it now and very pleased to report that I have lost another pound.

Starting weight 12 stone
Currently 11 stone 13 lbs
Goal 10 stone

Not seen the 11s for a very long time feels surreal. Really not sure how I've managed to lose 1lbs this week as my sleep has been poor and I've had four take aways. I have managed to fit in a few walks though and drank at least 2l of fluids a day. Aim for this week is to eat much better it's really difficult when life is busy and I am so tired. Think since January in total I've now lost 1 stone 3lbs.

Imthefunfriend · 11/06/2026 08:01

Congrats @moondip that’s a big achievement 💪

I weighed in this morning, very small loss so I’ll take it. I’m out tonight so will be tricky to navigate food and drink. Hopefully 11 days of healthy eating under my belt should have taught me something and I’ll not blow it all.

FridayNighFeeling · 11/06/2026 08:40

Morning all, we were out for dinner last night - Moroccan food - utterly delicious but quite light I think, so "only" a pound up. Gym tonight too and day 2 of trying creatine every morning for brain fog.

Have a good day all

moondip · 11/06/2026 08:49

Thanks @Imthefunfriend - it’s some good motivation for me to keep going 💪

I hope you enjoy your meal out!

socks1107 · 11/06/2026 13:13

@moondip well done!! Awesome achievement.

I am a pound down on last week but a pound heavier than the weekend. Averaging half a pound a week now.
slowly slowly!! I just want the last 4lbs over with now I’m flirting with a healthy bmi and it’s so close!!

BreakingBroken · 11/06/2026 13:52

Well done @moondip!

moondip · 11/06/2026 19:35

@PipkinOfPepper @socks1107 @BreakingBroken Thanks you lovely bunch 💕

10kstepsaday · 11/06/2026 20:08

Some awesome losses going on 😃

Todays Update:
Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 6.6 - slightly up today. Body fat % gone down though.

Breakfast: Oats, Fruit, Almond Milk, Flaxseed
Lunch: Moroccan Chickpea Rice
Dinner: We got KFC takeout for dinner, very cheeky. Although proud of myself, as all I had was veggie rice bowl which didnt really feel like I was having a KFC at all 😅
Snack: Almonds, 2 boiled eggs with Zaatar

I did 40 minutes strength (biceps and back) this morning.

LemonDrizzle23 · 12/06/2026 07:00

@10kstepsaday that is incredible restraint! When I was doing my “gluten challenge” for my coeliac disease testing, I made a list of all the things I wanted to eat if I could never eat them again, and one of them was a bucket of KFC chicken 😂 my boyfriend at the time (now DH) was very happy to help me out with that one!

Well the magical 2lbs that appeared since Friday have vanished and now I’m actually down .2lbs instead, so that’s nice.

What’s everyone up to for the weekend. DH is on-call so he is housebound. Clubs on Saturday, but not sure what DS and I will do on Sunday.

Pasta4Dinner · 12/06/2026 08:52

My weight jumped up but it’s back down. Happy Scale is saying it’s going to take me 6 weeks to reach my next goal, which is one kilo down!

my class is cancelled today and I’m gutted.

TheRealHousewife · 12/06/2026 08:55

Good Morning & Happy Friday

Most days I’ve had the intention to post only to find I’ve not got round to it … sorry 🙂

Food wise I’m still weighing and measuring portions which according to the scales is definitely helping 👍

@Imthefunfriend Thats interesting how even when eating exactly the same the body weight fluctuates… and I always love a graph 📈 The more the better 👍

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo That was a tasty menu on the 5th 😋

@Rosetime Thats a good steady regime and the strength training is definitely the cherry on top 👌

@ChunkyMonkey36 Thats a significant drop in your BMI, congratulations 🥳 PS I feel a bit funny using your username … what about @ LittleMonkey36 🙂

Well done WOWzers & Congratulations on your losses @10kstepsaday @Pasta4Dinner @DreamingOfGeneHunt @Fellsbells @Bufftailed @Hlglu56 @PipkinOfPepper @ChunkyMonkey36 @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo @BreakingBroken @Meetmeunderthemoonlight @socks1107 @LemonDrizzle23 👏🥳

A big well done for anyone who has plateaued or gained a little but remain committed; it’s tough losing weight, especially when nearing your goal 👏

That sounds a good approach for you @Fellsbells 👍 I’ll research dopamine hits later as I’m out most of the day x

OMG @FridayNighFeeling go you! Lovely to hear you had a great time 🤭 And congratulations on your overall loss, that’s awesome 🙌

Thanks for sharing the cracker link @moondip And absolutely well done on your BMI reduction 👏x

Welcome to the thread @Marmaladeaddict 👍

@LemonDrizzle23 Scales can sometimes lie! True fact 🙂

Menu
Meal 1 - Yoghurt & blueberries
Meal 2 - Chicken something or other … will decide later.

Drinks - Tea, black coffee and water.

Morning all! Went a bit rogue on Wednesday and ate a bar of Lidl chocolate and about a million onion rings. However I got myself back under control yesterday and stuck to the plan.

Food today:
Porridge, pineapple yoghurt, flax seeds, raisins
Lunch- ham salad roll and an apple
Dinner- chilli con carne, brown rice, probably carrots. More yoghurt and some plums from the freezer.

FridayNighFeeling · 12/06/2026 14:02

Happy Friday indeed @TheRealHousewife

@LemonDrizzle23 we have a London day and a home sorting stuff day so balance I hope!

Gym last night damn near killed me, hopefully will pay the dividends - think I am really as weight back to lowest this morning. Day 4 of taking creatine first thing. Nearly forgot: the irony!

Have a good one all!

moondip · 12/06/2026 16:03

@FridayNighFeeling Have you noticed anything different since going on the creatine in terms of energy levels - if not impeccable memory 🤣? I’ve read some interesting stuff about it and wondering if it would be worth trying at some point 🤔

10kstepsaday · 12/06/2026 17:06

Haha thank you @LemonDrizzle23 we do love a KFC in our household!

Todays Update:
Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 6.2.
Seem to be teetering around 10 st 6 atm. Hoping for another drop soon.

Breakfast: Oats, Fruit, Almond Milk, Flaxseed
Lunch: Scrambled Eggs on 1 Wholemeal Toast
Dinner: Indonesian Style Chicken Stir Fry
Snack: Carrot Sticks and Hummus

No exercise for me today, I feel so so tired.
I am hoping to hit my 10k steps at least, and if I can I may do a gentle stretch/mobility before bed. I am planning to go to Hot Yoga both days this weekend.

FridayNighFeeling · 12/06/2026 17:42

@moondip I wished it worked in 5 days Grin I will report back though. I was taking it sort of twice a week when I've been to the gym or done a big walk but have decided to take it daily now and see what happens.

10kstepsaday · 13/06/2026 07:59

10st 6.6 this morning - still teetering.
I gave my scales a "Hard Stare" a la Paddington Bear and now I'm off to Yoga to sweat it off.

Rosetime · 13/06/2026 09:06

Welldone @everyone for all the effort we are all putting in.

Welcome @Marmaladeaddict . I trust you will like it here.

@TheRealHousewife , I also weigh and measure my food, essential for calorie counting. I also strength train. I mostly get encouraging reports from my scales - now & then I get stalls for a few weeks and then a big drop. Wishing you a lovely weekend.

@FridayNighFeeling , looking forward to your feedback about the creatinine.

@10kstepsaday , I laughed at the Paddington-style hard stare you gave your scales. It will definitely behave from now on😄.

I continue to calorie count, ensure high protein content in my diet, do strength training, do a minimum of 10K steps a day, 2 - 2.5 litres of water a day and get a good night's sleep (as much as I can).

I weigh every Sunday but skipped it last Sunday and may skip it this Sunday. It's been two busy weeks, I under-ate (<900kcal/day)/very little protein, under-drank water (<500mls/day) and fell out of my strength training routine for quite a few days. I expect my weight to be a reflection of those inconsistencies.
