⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

15 stone this morning!! 9lbs down since May 1st and 3 stone 4lbs down in total.

Imthefunfriend · 09/06/2026 08:04

I’m experiencing the downside of weighing daily. Two consecutive gains despite sticking to the diet! Rude!

Fortunately I feel positive still, my stomach is definitely smaller. Plus it’s the first time in years I’ve managed to stick to a diet for 10 days in a row without cheating or binging. So I’m grateful for that. I’m sleeping well and following my skin care routine so I feel like it’s more than just the diet that’s helping my mood. I’ve also started a new vitamin and I’m taking it every day so I think that might be helping too.

Fellsbells · 09/06/2026 12:24

Some amazing progress.

well done @TheWayTheLightFalls amazing work 😉

I’m seeing good progress with my increased daily calories. Eating 300 more than nutracheck was giving me (and ignoring any gained via exercise) has made this very sustainable. I can do low calories for a week, but then my body is so hungry I end up eating far too much and piling it all back on again. I was expecting the loss to be slower this way, but because I’m sticking to it easily I’m losing weight quicker than I expected.

moondip · 09/06/2026 15:14

That sounds like a really good approach @Fellsbells 💪
Are you still using NutraCheck to tot things up calories wise or a different app?

Fellsbells · 09/06/2026 15:28

@moondip I use Nutracheck to track, but I set my own calories (300 above what it wanted) and ignore any it gives me back via exercise. I’m concentrating on getting plenty of protein and fibre so I feel full and my calories go further if I don’t eat pastries/biscuits etc.

moondip · 09/06/2026 15:49

@Fellsbells That sounds good. I really struggle to ignore the extra calories exercise gives you on there 😬 I think the layout doesn’t help as you concentrate on that bottom figure which goes up with exercise. I need to just focus on my intake more.

I found some great crispbread things in Holland & Barrett yesterday that might interest this group. They’re not the cheapest for the amount you get, but if you’re trying to up the fibre and keep carbs moderate they’re a useful thing to have around: https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-spinach-seed-crispbreads-6100014194

Fellsbells · 09/06/2026 15:54

I agree, the bottom figure is hard to ignore. It’s taken a week or two for me to focus on the blue food number and now I don’t even notice the bottom number. Especially because it’s always green now I’ve altered my allowance so it doesn’t jump out at me or make me feel bad like the horrible red does.

Bufftailed · 09/06/2026 20:26

Nutracheck put my on 1200 which is quite tough. Scales were showing a 2kg loss for my first week but swung back up a bit this morning - hoping they go down in the morning for WOW 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Imthefunfriend · 09/06/2026 21:02

B - porridge
L - poached salmon salad
D - pizza and garlic bread

Sacks - fruit

Managed to stay on track despite the scales trying to upset me this morning 😁

10kstepsaday · 09/06/2026 21:38

@Imthefunfriend I get that too with daily weighing, it can be disheartening. Do you use HappyScale? I used to use it years ago and it really helped even on a gain day. I can't get it on my android phone anymore and can't find an equivalent app 😕

Todays Update:
Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 6.6
small drop of 0.2lb less than yesterday. I added it up wrong yesterday (getting ahead of myself!) and I have lost 1.8lbs for first week of June, not 2.8lbs !!

Breakfast: Fage, Blueberries, Chia Seeds
Lunch: Turkey Chilli
Dinner: Salmon, Asparagus, Tenderstem, New Potatoes
Snack: 2 Kallo Milk Chocolate Rice Cakes, Banana, Apple, Almonds (hungry snack day!)

I did 30 minutes full body strength today and 30 minutes walking outside.

10kstepsaday · 09/06/2026 21:39

Also thinking of signing up for LesMills+ (LMOD) does anyone else use this?
I used to love LM at the gym pre-children, but that was nearly 10 years ago.
If anyone does use it, is it still really good workouts?

Fellsbells · 10/06/2026 05:34

Wow is 1.5lbs down. That’s 5lbs off in the last 3 weeks. 2lbs away from my goal, but I’m trying to build muscle so not sure what goal will end up being, it’s more about how I look and feel.

good luck everyone.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 10/06/2026 06:17

No WoW for me today as it’s a very early start at work. Argh. Good luck Wowers!

Marmaladeaddict · 10/06/2026 06:22

I am starting today. Heaviest I have ever been. I've lost weight many times before but I find the first few weeks the most important. Once I start losing weight it motivates me, but I find accountability and focus really hard at the beginning.
My downfall is portion sizes and just not thinking about the actual calorie content of what i'm eating. Also finding it hard to think of things to eat that are quick to make and low calorie.

moondip · 10/06/2026 06:47

Morning all ☀️ & welcome @Marmaladeaddict - you’ve got this! The group is extremely supportive and helpful for very gentle and encouraging accountability.

I am happy with my WoW today. I’d really like to get to 85kg for my baby’s first birthday next month.

SW: 102.1kg
CW: 86.8kg
GW: 80kg

Have a great day everyone!

LemonDrizzle23 · 10/06/2026 07:57

Morning WOWers! My scales tell me I’ve put on about 2lbs since Friday, and I’m not entirely sure that’s true! The first half of the week was very much stay the same, so I’ll see how I get on over the next few days.

Bufftailed · 10/06/2026 07:58

Morning all, weight has fluctuated a bit in this first week but looks like a 1 kg loss:

SW 84 kg
CW 83 kg
GW 72 kg

Hlglu56 · 10/06/2026 08:06

Current weight: 11st (1lb down)
start weight: 11st 7
goal weight: 10st

Managed to lose a lb this week but still heavier than I was in May. The last couple of days I’ve locked in- keeping to my calories, walking lots and doing my strength workouts but I’ve really struggled to get back into it since half term when I completely gave in to temptations.

I’m feeling so hungry, tired and bloated. I’m keeping to my protein goals and I’m not due on so I’m not sure what’s going on. I do wonder if there’s something up with my hormones. I need some low calorie snacks to try and beat the cravings. I eat nuts for the fibre but they’re high in calories for a small portion.

Imthefunfriend · 10/06/2026 08:09

It’s day 11 for me and the scales are still playing games. The weigh in this morning is down, I think the second lowest reading I’ve had. Very pleased now I didn’t get demotivated after the ‘gains’ two days in a row. Just goes to show the figure on the scales isn’t the be all and end all.

To add some context to the funny graph below, I followed the same eating pattern every single day since I started. Modest breakfast, lunch and dinner with minimal snacks (which have mainly been fruit).

FridayNighFeeling · 10/06/2026 08:26

Good morning, well who would have thought that looking at your food intake, exercising and looking after yourself works??? Grin I'm at -29 1/4lbs today. Not sure if that will stick around as I'm going to try Creatine daily to see if it helps with the ridiculous brain fog I seem to have and it should also help with trying to build muscle...

My 1 year anniversary at some point in the next week or so, feeling very pleased with myself and this amazing group Flowers to you all and Flowers @TheRealHousewife for keeping the threads going.

PipkinOfPepper · 10/06/2026 08:31

WOW today!

SW (January): 111.05kg
CW: 92.8kg
GW: 78kg

Have dropped over 2kg since last week thanks to a mild stomach bug. Now need to keep going and not put it back on!

I feel like the 80’s are getting tantalisingly close now…

Pasta4Dinner · 10/06/2026 11:11

Ignoring today’s weight, salty dinner and I did leg day yesterday so weight is up slightly.

JustOneMoreMargarita · 10/06/2026 11:26

Stayed at 99.1kg this week… busy weekend socially and a decent amount of exercise. It is what it is… maybe next week I’ll get under the 99kg mark.

Although we’re away Friday night, out with friends Saturday… and it’s still GCSE stress time so who knows 😂

ChunkyMonkey36 · 10/06/2026 12:07

Another 0.5lb off this week.

Chipping away at it very slowly, my tracking isn’t great at the moment so I’ll take what I can get!

SW: 16st 10lbs (106.1 kg)
CW: 15st 9.5lbs (99.6kg)

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/06/2026 15:49

Just under 1lb off here this week, I’m pleased with that.
