⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/5523585-lose-it-motivational-may-2026?reply=152568153

Here we are with our June LOSE IT! Thread. To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

I’m 3lbs down this week. Amazing what completely cutting out crap can do.

My aim for next week is to stay the same because I want to keep it off. If I lose anything next week I’ll treat it as a bonus. Going to continue to weigh daily as it’s keeping me on track.

Bufftailed · 07/06/2026 11:52

Well done @Imthefunfriend

i seem to be 2 kg down since starting this week. I had gained some weight v quickly with HRT so might have been water retention. Aiming for 1400 cals per day. Went out last night for dinner, so bit more, although ate virtually nothing all day. Did a v slow 5 k jog just now.

i think might try restricting eating to 12-7 too. Aiming for 7 kg off in 7 weeks….

Pasta4Dinner · 07/06/2026 15:12

Another 0.1kg off. I miss the days when it was more than that.
My Happy Scale predicts I’ll hit my next milestone in 7 weeks, just before I go away. I was aiming for a few more kilos than that to be honest, I want to fit into all my clothes really well.

BreakingBroken · 07/06/2026 16:16

All those small losses add up @Pasta4Dinner it may be .1kg but it’s in the right direction.

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/06/2026 18:06

Mixed weekend food-wise! Dinner out on Friday and bbq yesterday, but reigned it back in today.

@DreamingOfGeneHuntthere’s nothing worse than when a food is dissatisfyingly crap. Like why on earth did I just both to spend the calories and eat this??

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 07/06/2026 18:16

@LemonDrizzle23 exactly! I'm still sulking. I have crisps once a week and now I've got a week to wait for a satisfying crisp experience!

moondip · 07/06/2026 18:22

Does anyone ever feel like their cycle’s effect on weight loss is just relentless? I’m due on in a week and not liking the scales today and yesterday. I’ve been trying pretty hard and suddenly thought to myself, “Is it already THAT time again???” 😒

BreakingBroken · 07/06/2026 18:32

@moondip one of the many joys of menopause (post menopause) those monthly fluctuations cravings bloating END.

FridayNighFeeling · 07/06/2026 18:37

Massively @moondip Hmm and also ravenous hunger just before it turns up!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2026 19:24

@moondip I hear you. I have pmt when I’m due on, a week of ridiculous heavy flooding, a week of pmt when I ovulate, and the last few months I’ve had a break through bleed on my HRT at ovulation as well. It makes me tired, my iron and vitamin levels are low and it just feels constant, plus the water retention far supersedes any weight loss.

Imthefunfriend · 07/06/2026 21:19

I never realised how badly I eat when hungover. I’ve been fighting sugar cravings all day. I did treat myself to some cheese and crackers but otherwise have done well
considering.

B - porridge
L - boiled egg and one slice of toast
D - modest roast
Snacks - cheese and crackers & fruit

I stuffed an orange tonight whilst everyone else had pudding.

Todays Update:
Daily Weigh-In: 10 st 6.8 - Nice little drop this morning!

Breakfast: Fage, Blueberries, Chia Seeds
Lunch: Turkey Chilli with Brown Rice
Dinner: Chicken Stir Fry
Snack: Banana, 1 x Nakd Bar, and 1 packet of Walkers S&V Crisps (little bit cheeky!)

I did 30 minutes full body strength today and that it - tiredness from increased exercise this week has got to me!

Bufftailed · 07/06/2026 22:14

Closing the kitchen on 1267 calories. V slow 5 k run & 5.5 k slow walk. Shattered afterwards. Enough for the week.

moondip · Yesterday 07:30

@thenewaveragebear1983 @FridayNighFeeling We are in it together at least. Who’d be a woman eh!

@BreakingBroken Ooh something to look forward to then haha!

1lb up this morning Blush
First real gain since 31 May. Will keep focussed today and see what the weigh in tomorrow says.

moondip · Yesterday 07:45

Also I am so confused as to why some days when I have quite a calorific snack in the middle of the night (think cheese and walnuts 😏) my morning weight is shockingly good. This has happened a handful of times, and it doesn’t seem to be that I’ve been really good during the day so have calories to spare. I’m wondering if it’s because as I’m still breastfeeding a lot overnight, my body benefits from extra cals or something rather than trying to hold onto fat? It is probably just a massive fluke/me getting used to daily weighing where these weird ups and downs are normal. But just wondering if anyone knows any of the science behind that?

socks1107 · Yesterday 08:47

I have maintained nicely the last few weeks, given I’ve drank a lot of wine that’s a win!!
back in the deficit today and hard so that I can achieve this last goal before holiday.
happy Monday everyone

Struggling with food noise today. It’s like that determination from last week has evaporated.

I don’t think it’s the gain on the scales this morning, it’s more like I used up all my willpower last week!

Posting helps to refocus me.

Pasta4Dinner · Yesterday 10:18

After complaining yesterday I’ve lost another 0.3kg, which for me is loads! Only 0.9kg until my next milestone. I’d be thrilled if I could do it by the end of the month.
going out to eat tonight and the cinema so don’t expect a good result tomorrow.

TheWayTheLightFalls · Yesterday 11:13

OMAD here, let's see. Had a big meal just now.

My date yesterday was a lot of fun Grin. And clothes did come off Blush

FridayNighFeeling · Yesterday 13:33

Fantastic @TheWayTheLightFalls Smile

We had McDs yesterday but otherwise I've been really sensible all weekend and I'm up 2kg - about 4 1/2lbs on the scales. I know it will go but why? That's ridiculous.

Good luck all, see you on WOW

LemonDrizzle23 · Yesterday 21:05

Nicely done @TheWayTheLightFalls 😉

@FridayNighFeeling I feel your pain. Have had a carby couple of days (but not necessarily wildly calorific) and the scale has bounced up. Just because I’ve had a few more sandwiches 🤦🏼‍♀️

Imthefunfriend · Yesterday 21:37

Made it through the day!

B - porridge
L - shredded beef and mash
D - cauliflower cheese

Snacks - fruit and yoghurt

Hopefully that’s me back on track for the week 🤞

DreamingOfGeneHunt · Yesterday 21:58

I've done more walking today. Which has made me hungry but I've kept to my plan.
Breakfast- porridge as usual
Lunch- chicken, lettuce and cucumber sandwich on nice homemade malted granary bread, some cherry tomatoes
Dinner- veg gratin, a little baked potato, half a slice of lemon cake.

10kstepsaday · Yesterday 22:42
