January 2026! Following on from LOSE IT! 8 Week Christmas Countdown

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.
These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.
As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself. One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 2lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Morning everyone! So excited - my woosh happened just in time! Feels like I'm through the tougher half of the month now hormones-wise which is a relief but I'm glad I stuck to the plan. Must remember this in future months, no movement on the scale doesn't mean it isn't working. I'm exactly where I should be based on losing 0.5kg per week.

SW (1/1/26): 90.5 kg (BMI 28.6)
CW: 88.5 kg (BMI 27.9, yay!)
Initial GW: 85 kg (BMI 26.8)
Ultimate GW: 75 kg (BMI 23.7)

Next week is my birthday and I also have a work trip to Germany. Will have to be mindful to not backslide...

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 28/01/2026 07:18

Good morning all! I did WOW today, no massive change from last week despite me barely eating anything last week because of being poorly - in fact a slight gain but it’s all good - I’m hoping like @WoodlandDragonI’ll get a whoosh maybe next week because I know I’ve been sticking to being under my calorie count just got to keep going - and happy that I’m still in the 9st 5’s!

SW: 9st 11lbs
CW: 9st 5.7lbs
GW: 9st

LemonDrizzle23 · 28/01/2026 07:29

Morning WOWers. Another week of stay the same here as my body has gone up 3lbs and down again just with hormones!

January has been a shocker - I think I’ve lost about 1lb overall 🤦🏼‍♀️ Onwards and upwards for February….

socks1107 · 28/01/2026 08:03

Morning all

SW 13.13
CW 11.1
GW 10.5

so 1.5lbs for me this week. Happy with that

TheWayTheLightFalls · 28/01/2026 08:05

Morning! WoW is 70.0 here - goal weight on the dot. Off for a walk.

FridayNighFeeling · 28/01/2026 08:33

-24lbs (total) so STS of sorts to me AKA playing around with the same pound over and over. Will check in with you all later!

moondip · 28/01/2026 08:51

Good morning ☀️

Well done, everyone! It’s keeping me motivated seeing how everyone checks in and stays accountable and keeps going.
I am happy with how the month’s gone, although my loss this week is the least so far (-0.8kg) - that day had to come because I knew it would drop off a bit quicker at the start. I’m still finding my diet fairly manageable thanks to NutraCheck 💪 I think February needs to be the month of scheduling some weekly exercise…
SW: 102.1kg
CW: 97kg

Good luck all and have a fab week :)

ImALittlePea · 28/01/2026 09:09

🎉🎉🎉 to everyone weighing today!

Today's plan:
L - 1/2 tub tomato and lentil soup. Greek yogurt, fruit and honey
D - spaghetti Bolognese with a sprinkle of parmesan, dressed side salad

Logged and currently coming in at 1015 cals for the day. A generous amount to play with from my allowance (1350), should I need a snack or something else.

Again, the sugar bar is a tiny bit over, but I have logged a banana, strawberries, blueberries, pomegranate, greek yogurt and honey. It's saying 61.4g sugar for the day, 101% of target, but half of the total grams is from fruit & veg. Do I need to decrease my fruit consumption?! (I'm aware I'm fully overthinking this now, but I also want to get the balance as 'right' as I can...)

Ehlace · 28/01/2026 09:28

Well done everyone! As expected I've gained 1.5lbs - I never understand the maths as I definitely haven't eaten that many extra calories!! I'm putting it down to bloating!

NoMoreLindor · 28/01/2026 10:43

I remembered to weigh! So my wow is done 1lb, 5lbs in total.

stealthninjamum · 28/01/2026 11:27

SW 197 lbs
LW 185.2
Today 184.7

mini target is 181 by Valentine’s Day as this would take me in the 12s. It’s not looking too likely now.

It is slow progress but I need to remember I’ve lost about 3 1/2 lb since January 1st so that would be wonderful if I kept it up all year.

Determinedloser · 28/01/2026 12:00

Jumping back into the threads. Wavered towards the end of the year last year with December being a more or less a write off but back at it now.

Thankfully only gained a few lbs.

New starting weight 20/01/2026 10 stone 7
Interim goal weight (April) 10 stone

Haven’t read any posts as quickly posting at work but will catch up.

FridayNighFeeling · 28/01/2026 12:23

Welcome back @Determinedloser

Great posts all, consistency is key isn't it! I've not made any progress since 19 December, but I've not gone backwards either, so that's a win in my book.

Hope you're OK @TheRealHousewife

JuniorMint14 · 28/01/2026 16:07

Well done everyone. Nearly didn't weigh today as I've not been conscious of my eating at all over the last week - been v busy trying to get house on the market so quite a lot of snacks have been consumed but also a lot of rushing around! Had a slight loss of 0.4 kg since last week which I will take given I have put in absolutely no effort at all!

SW: 73.8kg (beginning of Jan)
CW: 72.5kg
GW: 63kg

ImALittlePea · 28/01/2026 16:40

Argh. I forgot to get dinner out of the freezer 😭 I don't like how it cooks from frozen so having to work out a plan b. We've not got a full freezer ATM so it'll be a trip to the shop, and I'm feeling really frazzled for various reasons and I have an insanely painful foot, so not relishing the thought. I very nearly just hit the biscuit tin, but I had a banana instead.

So far today I've had my soup (omg so yum!), with one slice of 50/50 bread spread with a cheese triangle instead of butter. I was concerned it might have been a moment of madness but it was actually delicious and less on the fat and calories front than butter. I had little motivation at work and my mood has been dipping, so I had a few snacks - some pop style crisps, an apple and an Oreo.

It's all been logged and I've got around 650 calories to play with for dinner. I'm sooooooo tempted to f-it and get chippy tea, tbh. But I'm sure I can do better... What is everyone having for dinner?!

JuniorMint14 · 28/01/2026 18:09

@ImALittlePea we've just had prawn egg fried rice.
Not had a chippy tea in ages, sounds very tempting!

FridayNighFeeling · 28/01/2026 18:29

Roast dinner - not the mid week quick one you're looking for @ImALittlePea Grin left over chicken will be used in Thai curry on Friday night.

ImALittlePea · 28/01/2026 18:36

I've got homemade wedges on the go, and going to do some halloumi with a soft pitta and big salad. I'll be over calories but it's a better choice than takeaway. I did buy a bag of maltesers but I'll try and save them for the weekend.

biscuitcat · 28/01/2026 20:02

That sounds delicious @ImALittlePea! I had chicken with a white wine sauce, croquettes and spinach and I think I’ll have some dates with dark chocolate while catching up with Call the Midwife shortly (I’m very envious of your malteasers though - I don’t buy them because I just can’t limit myself, one of my favourite chocolates!).

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/01/2026 20:11

Hi everyone, I’ve been a bit rubbish over last week or so - too many calorific birthday celebrations this month, another one this weekend and I’ve got a weekend away next week, but I am endeavouring to be good during the week. I’ve pretty much maintained over the last week so I’m really only about 1/2 lb down since my first weigh in this month. Not a great start. BUT I’m excited at the lighter mornings and it not being pitch black when I leave work so I am hoping I’ll be more motivated to exercise in February!

ImALittlePea · 28/01/2026 20:16

@biscuitcat it was really delicious, and I've managed to forgo the choc too. My mind was swirling with temptations all afternoon and I've managed to swerve them all barring a tiny handful of sweets. I'm over calories as expected, but looking at my nutracheck it's all snacks. And I'm now soooooo relieved I didn't give in to the cravings for takeaway/wine/biscuits/choc! Curling up with my book now and I'll probably head up for an early night in the hope I get the spring back in my step tomorrow 🙏☺️

CinnamonSweet73 · 28/01/2026 20:29

Jumping back in just before the end of January, weighed in at 78.5kg, not too different from before Christmas fortunately but need to get back into my stride now to be feeling good heading into Spring!

Fellsbells · 28/01/2026 21:41

Well done wowers.
I’ll weigh tomorrow, I didn’t want to today because I ate out last night and decided to just have what I wanted and forget tracking for one night.

Today I’m well under calories so hoping tomorrow will be forgiving. I’d like to end January in a good place. It’s so annoying the amount of tracking and exercise that goes into maintaining a weight I’m not even happy at! If I stopped I’d put a stone on in 2 weeks.

Fellsbells · 29/01/2026 08:39

2lbs up from Saturday. Hoping its partly hormones. It is disappointing though.

RedBlackBlue · 29/01/2026 10:17

Another 0.5lb down for me. Thats a total of 4.4 for January so I am fairly happy with that.

SW 15 s 6lb
CW 15 s 1.6lb

Be nice to get into the 14's for valentines day 😀
