Following on from ☀️LOSE IT! May 2025☀️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

Similar here @WearyAuldWumman . I was ravenous yesterday and just ate and ate - an extra meal, chocolate. Braced myself this morning, scales down a bit. Earlier in the week they were (apparently randomly ) higher. Definitely not a fault with the scales. I wonder if it’s my cycle because I am baffled otherwise.

It might well be hormonal in your case.

In my case, I'm post-menopausal and on HRT, so not quite sure if that might affect me. (I might have to come off my oestrogen for medical reasons. Grrr.)

I was 14st 9 this morning, so I'm down a stone since January but - by gum - it's slow going.

Waiting for tests and results so not quite feeling up to the gym at the moment, but went to my exercise sessions on Wednesday and today. Wednesday's Senior Flex class was cancelled, so just did 15 minutes in the main gym by myself and then back for the evening class.

Senior Flex! Huh! I suppose it's better than "Stiff Old Fogeys".

I was in a similar position last year re tests and that was when I went back up from 14st 10 to 15st 9. I'm determined not to fall into that trap this time round.

You are doing brilliantly! I am always in awe of your gym routine.

AnonymousMum37 · 13/06/2025 13:55

It's feeling very slow now and I'm not always sticking 100% to my calorie deficit, but looking at this past year I can see I've consistently been losing and making better choices. Even my pig out days are less than I'd have pigged out on in the past! Holiday in 6 weeks and I'd love to get more comfortably into the 10-stone-something weight bracket.

That's very kind. I can only manage it because I'm now fully retired.

I've said elsewhere that I got an email from the General Teaching Council for Scotland reminding me to pay £75 to stay on the register (a legal requirement in Scotland). I was oscillating, I admit, until I saw a newspaper report about a teacher in Dundee being picked up and thrown onto her head. There was no custodial sentence because the boy was 18 and the guidelines here are that a custodial sentence is to be avoided for those under 25.

I thought "Hmmm. Risk further violence [I've been hurt at work myself a few times] or spend my mornings in the gym whenever possible?" The gym won!

NothingTraLaLa · 13/06/2025 14:49

What a lovely graph @AnonymousMum37 - nice downward trend!

Sadly, a similar graph for me would have the slope going in the opposite direction after getting very close to target a year ago, then taking my eye off the ball rather. I will get back down there though, I have made a solemn vow.

I’m down a pound since Wednesday’s weigh-in, taking me to 121.6 lbs. I imagine that’s water weight, but I’ve found that core exercises somehow do encourage the water weight to shift - I’ve done both Pilates and yoga this week. Swimming has a similar effect but I don’t swim very often because I can’t be doing with the faff of getting dry again and having to sort out my hair.

Fellsbells · 13/06/2025 15:39

Good week for me. 5km run yesterday and a 10km walk today. Very little snacking apart from a few jaffa cakes.

LemonDrizzle23 · 13/06/2025 17:29

A challenging few days here dealing with some mum-death related bits. You feel like you’ve got it all under control and then something pops up and smacks you in the face again.

Still, today has been a better day. Went out for a 5km walk before it got too hot. Don’t fancy any more for now! Weather looking glorious for the next week.

We will be bbq-ing on Father’s Day, but otherwise aiming to keep to sensible food throughout the weekend. Will also aim to keep my steps up.

What are everyone’s plans for the weekend?

LogicalBlodge · 13/06/2025 17:33

Hello, I've been terrible for 2 weeks. It all fell apart.

I've got through the blip and am back now on an even keel.

Food shopping and meal prepping and logging small commence. I shall start to calorie count as soon as my period is over (due tomorrow).

I'm not going to start an exercise routine as its too much all at once- I feel terrible guilt when I set myself up to fail which then becomes an obstacle. So the plan is simply nailing my diet and increasing my walking routine. After that I will hit some exercise but not going to plan what yet, or the guilt will just weigh on me.

Fellsbells · 13/06/2025 21:09

@LemonDrizzle23 you’re doing great, it’s very early days since you lost your mum. Grief is like a stormy sea, you think you’re doing ok then a wave comes out of nowhere and knocks you down. Eventually the waves get smaller and the sun comes out again.

LightGirl · 14/06/2025 04:26

Hey! Just popping in to say I’m still alive and kicking, lol. This week’s been crazy. It’s not Wednesday today, but I’m down 100g since last week—it’s still a loss, and I’m happy with that! I hope things settle down a bit around here so I can get back to my walks. I’ve been calorie counting faithfully. Let’s hope for more weight loss next week!

frostedshreddie · 14/06/2025 09:52

Just catching up on the thread. Things have been crazy for a few days and I have definitely let things slip. Well done on the losses so far and well for those like me getting back on it!!

30 mins walking workout this morning
Smoothie for breakfast
Afternoon BBQ later for lunch/dinner combined 😋

2in2022twoyearson · 15/06/2025 06:28

Yesterday I ate a bit more had a family birthday meal and I'm back to my start weight from 2 weeks ago. I felt a bit dehydrated when I weighed too. I'll get back on it today.

frostedshreddie · 15/06/2025 09:12

Hope everyone has a good day today!!

Thought I'd share these that I saw in the shop yesterday for the previous comments about babybels and getting in protein :)

Went to my exercise class Friday. Only a mini gym workout today: 5 min HIIT walking. Got beyond 6.5mph, but max heart rate was 170. Eep.

Not dead yet, though. Ave was 143.

3 sets of 10 at 20kg for lats a triceps on last pull. Put it up to 25 for biceps, but only managed 10.

Nervous that I’m going probably going to have to come off my oestrogen, but will just have to plod on.

Medee · 15/06/2025 16:08

Terrible couple of days, diet wise. Went out for dinner last night with my DH, and had several cocktails. The hangover today lead to a lunch of fried chicken with chips and a coke. It was damn fine though!

i did get complimented at a kids party pick up though, one of the other mums said I was looking well and asked if I’d lost weight, so nice to know it’s noticeable.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 15/06/2025 17:59

Please can I hop on board halfway through the month? I was on here in 2019/20 - (different username) and lost 10-13kg, kept 10 of it off for 2 years through all the Covid shenanigans only to regain it and then some in the last while.

Will come back for some accountability and my plan....

TheWayTheLightFalls · 15/06/2025 18:39

This cartoon made me smile.

All ok here this weekend but I am trying yet another meal prep co and the current one is a bit underwhelming for the calories. Think I’ve broadly stuck to my TDEE this weekend, and did a bit of gardening. Even mowed the lawn!

socks1107 · 15/06/2025 19:01

Hope everyone’s had a lovely weekend!

I had a nsv today - haven’t worn my chin rubs all day and had no issues. I can officially bin those awful sweaty horrible things 😂

socks1107 · 15/06/2025 19:01

Chub not chin 😂

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/06/2025 19:23

Thank you @Fellsbells . Yes still measuring in weeks in my head, so it’s been very little time. We will get there. It’s just bloody rubbish!!

Still, have had a good weekend celebrating wonderful dads - DH and my DDad both being fabulous humans. Tasty and healthy bbq slightly undone by the sticky toffee sponge for pudding Grin No idea what the scales are saying, have been all over the place with food and walking since Wednesday. Back on it tomorrow.

Lovely NSV @socks1107

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/06/2025 19:25

Although something has bitten the hell out of me in the garden. Christ!

LegoTherapy · 15/06/2025 23:00

I’m so embarrassed by my lack of effort and absence. I just can’t do it lately. I need to cut my sugar and stress according to my latest blood results so the morning brings a fresh start. Again. My weight is fine but I’m more comfortable about 10 pounds lighter. The porridge is in the fridge ready to be heated in the morning so that’s a good start. I’ve ordered lots of veg like asparagus, tender stem broccoli and frozen broad beans to make a risotto with limited rice but lots of veg. Can I stick feta in a risotto to make it more filling?
I can do this, I know I can. Tonight is my last night of staying up late in my phone. I was working out recipes. From tomorrow I plan on doing in bed by 9pm and reading for an hour at the most. Lights out at 10. It’s dds last exam tomorrow and she can’t wait. I feel quite emotional about her leaving school 😭

I hope everyone is ok. I’ll try to catch up but I’m just useless.

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 16/06/2025 06:13

Checking in to try and steel my resolve after a terrible night's sleep which always makes things worse.

I need to get rid of 20kg (about 3st) - seems insurmountable, so will try to break it down into chunks.

I will have done 16hrs by the time I eat today, planning to focus on protein and whole foods as much as possible...and brush my teeth after tea.

Will weigh and measure myself later in the week so I have a starting point.

Good luck for the week everyone

LegoTherapy · 16/06/2025 06:48

I’m 3kg more than I’d like to be which isn’t the end of the world. I’ve got my breakfast logged in MFP already and have weighed myself so it’s a good start and not even 7am.
Here’s to a great week everyone!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 16/06/2025 07:03

That’s not the end of the world at all @LegoTherapy , good luck today, you sound like you have a great attitude. And good luck to your DD!

All ok here - working today and then ferrying children; will aim for two meals a day, first around 11am and then early dinner.
