Following on from ☀️LOSE IT! May 2025☀️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

14st 8 today. That's down from 15st 9 in January and 16st 4 at my heaviest.

Beginning to feel that I'm making progress, since I got down to 14st 10 last October and then put a lot of it back on again after having my biopsies and the Mirena fitted.

Weirdly, my thighs look like I'm losing the weight gradually from above my knees upwards. I reckon I'm going to be left with footballer's knees and goodness knows what the skin is going to be like, but the goal is to strengthen the legs and to take weight off the weird leg with the missing valves. (I'd never heard of the condition until the consultant told me - a genetic condition, inherited from mum and my grandmother. It doesn't look much different from the other one.. Who knew?)

Still to get to the gym. I'll head off in a little while.

I need to book a check-up at the Spire, but waiting until afternoon to give my GP's referral time to get through. If I need to stop my HRT, better finding out sooner than later. (18 wk wait for a mammogram! I'm actually overdue my 3 yrly one, but NHS Fife is so backed up that they're sending patients to another authority.)

I was reluctant to spend the money, but I'm rationalising that I spent more on getting my now scrapped old campervan (Mazda Bongo) through its MOT last year. Even paying for the car MOT and (full) service this year came to about 700.

I'm lucky that I have it and you can't take it with you.

Shall phone the Spire when I get home.

Not exactly the point @WearyAuldWumman but I love Mazda Bongos. I have family in east Africa and the household seems to run on two Bongos from the 90s, imported from Japan at some point (?) which just bounce around on the potholed roads and take seven passengers and a large dog each. I really have a soft spot for them. Not sure I have seen one in the UK (I am in the south).

Hope the rest of your day goes well.

Had lunch here, now coffee and ice water.

LegoTherapy · 16/06/2025 12:41

@WearyAuldWumman I remember how wonderful it felt to notice I had a thigh gap of sorts for the first time ever. I have thick set most things but I try to tell myself that my legs are strong and they carry me the 50 miles I walk each week.

bodies are funny things aren’t they?

I’ve been really good today so far and have dinner planned. Not risotto as da ha ms tennis after school so it’s a picnic dinner at tennis before the lesson. I’ll take corn cakes and cheese, iced water (my favourite drink outside of a caramel Frappuccino)and probably some fruit. So far I’ve had 75g strawberries, 75g raspberries and 100g cantaloupe. 200g fat free Greek yogurt, a babybel and porridge. No crisps, not chocolate, no biscuits. I threw some chia into my yogurt too. I’m going to roast some seeds for snacks.

Yes, ours was a 1996 imported in 2009. She did us well.

WearyAuldWumman · 16/06/2025 16:40

So...Have been to gym. Just a short stint.

5 minutes HIIT, but got the speed up to 6.7kph and the top heart rate was below 160. Woot!

3 sets of ten for leg curl, leg extension and leg press.

Started on 10kg for the leg curl and extension and moved up to 15kg. Started on 15kg for the leg press - legs apart for quads - and moved up to 40kg.

Could have stayed longer, but I wanted to get home to book my mammogram.

Had lentil soup with creatine stirred in at the gym cafeteria, followed by cheese and onion toastie with green salad, no dressing. Filter coffee with oatmilk.

Got home and made myself book the appointment. Done!

Is anyone else using creatine, I wonder? I'm also taking collagen. Wasn't sure about the creatine, but I read that it's particularly beneficial for older women.

I'm going to have to skip my senior flex class tomorrow - it clashes with my dental treatment. My dentist only works one-and-a-half days a week in Fife, so I have to give the dental treatment priority.

Should still make the evening class, however.

@WearyAuldWummanI’m in awe of your gym routine, I’d love to get into a proper exercise habit - when I’m a bit less worn down with the kids I will I hope.

I’ve had a slightly less disciplined weekend as we saw friends on Saturday and had a father’s day BBQ yesterday. Today though I was quite proud of myself, we went to the garden centre for lunch and rather than the 1100 calorie Brie, bacon and chilli toastie with chips that I really wanted I had the virtuous soup (and didn’t pinch the kids’ chips or DH’s chilli rice crackers) and turned down cake - and actually really enjoyed it and didn’t feel jealous of everyone else’s food, which was nice! If I can resist snacks later I’ll finish about 350 calories under for today which will hopefully make up a bit for the weekend’s excesses.

I can only do it because I'm retired. When I was still working I managed twice a week before I became a carer and had to give it up by the time I was in my mid 40s.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 16/06/2025 20:07

the 1100 calorie Brie, bacon and chilli toastie with chips

I feel like I'm gaining calories just reading that phrase @biscuitcat !

Kitchen closed here - healthy ready meal, small portion sushi, apple, blueberries, one no-sugar bubble tea, two coffees.

LegoTherapy · 16/06/2025 20:33

I’m in at 1211 calories so a deficit of about 1000 calories compared to lately. I’ve stuck to my plan for the day and have found my food choices satisfying and haven’t felt hungry afterwards. I haven’t even thought about lentil chips or chocolate. I made some roasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds with a small amount of extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. They are delicious and met my need for savoury salty things happily. I’m a little hungry now before bed but I know I can ride it out. I’ve drunk lots of water today too and walked around 8 miles so I’m very happy with today. I just need to keep going which will be hard because we are away this weekend and the food options will be very limited so I’ll perhaps have the weekend off but not go mad.

2in2022twoyearson · 16/06/2025 22:34

Scales didn't look good today as I've just gone above my start weight BUT I'm due on my period in 2 days and I've read it's water retention it could drop down when my period starts...Also had BBQ at the weekend. However, my uniform has been tight for a while and I've not asked for new uniform thinking I could lose the weight easily.

Today I didn't snack, but did have a sweet coffee with lunch.

Well, I have 2 more days then I'll post my official WOW, I do 3 day average. I have not weighed myself recently.

Can I join. 2020 I wasn’t necessarily the lightest I’ve been but I was getting very fit and I was the smallest I’d been in decades.
Then lockdown hit and I put on 3 stone. Today I am the heaviest I have ever been. I’m so annoyed at myself.
Been calorie counting since yesterday and going to start getting fit again. I actually don’t want to join a gym until I have some fitness to start with.
Want to lose a stone by the end of the summer if possible. I’m so uncomfortable in my body and don’t fit in anything. I think even if in a month I could lose a few pounds and tighten up, especially my upper half, life would be so much easier.
in the past when I have lost weight I’ve always used weight watchers as it gave me structure. Trying not to now. I’m iust trying to reduce my sugar and daytime eating (no bits of toast/biscuits) as it’s easier then to have normal meal with DH. Just need to lose a bit to get me going…

LegoTherapy · 16/06/2025 22:49

Water weight is annoying. I’m hoping that dropping the carbs will help with that. My chinos are too tight.

LegoTherapy · 17/06/2025 06:36

Speaking of water weight: I’ve dropped 610g since yesterday morning and that can only be water from less carbs because carbs hold water apparently. It’s given me a huge boost to carry on. I ended up quite hungry late last night because Dd didn’t come home when she was supposed to and I was awake longer than intended. I know I can always push through it though. Evening snacks are a big part of the reason I gained weight in lockdown and are the reason I’ve gained 3kg recently. So no eating after dinner again now because it really does make a difference for me. So my eating window is 7-7 which is a large window but perhaps a more traditional way of eating where nothing was eaten after the evening meal.
Im feeling hopeful for WOW tomorrow.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/06/2025 07:51

Morning all. I weighed this morning and pleased that after another hectic weekend (we’re on the uni open day circuit just now), I was pleased that at least I haven’t put on any weight. I’ve abandoned all hope of losing 5lbs by the time I go on holiday on the 28th, but maybe I could squeeze a pound or two off. Hoping to do lots of walking this holiday so fingers crossed that will balance out the food - I’m not calorie counting on holiday!

socks1107 · 17/06/2025 08:23

After a week of being in the 11s I have bounced into the 12s this morning for absolutely no reason.
in a deficit, getting my water and steps in. Hoping it’s a random fluctuation but it’s put me in a foul mood as I was on target for my first goal for my holiday. And I thought I’d seen the back of the 12s

If the overall trend is downward try not to worry. I have similar, usually around my period.

SummerOak · 17/06/2025 12:53

Hi everyone! I haven’t caught up on the thread yet, but I’m planning to read through it today. I could really use some inspiration from you all.

The start of June was a complete write-off for me. My MIL came to visit, I injured my ankle, and between barely being able to walk and her amazing (but carb-heavy) cooking, things spiraled a bit. I haven’t weighed myself since before she arrived, but judging by how I feel, I’ve probably regained everything I lost in May… maybe even a bit more 😩

She left this morning, and thankfully my ankle finally stopped hurting over the weekend. So now, it’s time to hit reset. My plan is to ease back into things, focusing this week on tracking my calories again and getting back to daily walks.

I’ll weigh myself next Wednesday once I’ve had a few solid days back on track. Fingers crossed for no more injuries!

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 17/06/2025 13:03

The hunger when fasting is real! I know it passes, but OMG!

Good luck @SummerOak

WearyAuldWumman · 17/06/2025 14:29

5 min HIIT treadmill walking. 6.7 kph fastest.

Increased lat machine weight to 25.

Only managed 10 and then 6 for lats, 2of 10 for triceps, 7 only for biceps.

Increased resistance on Sparc to 6. Only two minutes.

LegoTherapy · 17/06/2025 15:03

I’ve missed lunch today with being at an appointment with my mum and I’m really hoping to be back in the 8s by a whisker tomorrow. This weekend we are away and I know I’ll not be eating as well as at home. I’ll try to get plenty of fruit and babybels in as snacks instead of crisps or chocolate.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 17/06/2025 18:13

We have a plumber in today so the kitchen has been tricky to access. I have had not very weather appropriate curries x2 (950 cal), an apple, some frozen grapes, two black coffees. Kitchen closed.

LegoTherapy · 17/06/2025 18:22

I might turn into one of those low carbers I rolled my eyes at 🙄 (rolling at self there). I’m closing the kitchen on 78g carbs today and 1058 calories. I walked less today and missed a proper lunch so had a selection of snacks: 2 babybel lights, small amount of cantaloupe, raspberries, strawberries. I had some roasted salted seeds on the way back from school then dinner was 100g carrot sticks, third of a red pepper, half a pot of roasted red pepper hummus and two more babybel lights. Two cups of tea with skimmed milk (I’ve had skimmed milk since I was about 8) and about 1500mls water. Breakfast was porridge. It took me ages to get through those carrot sticks and I was full before the baby bells hit I’d unwrapped them and missed some of lunch and need the protein. Previously I’d eat over 200g carbs each day and definitely have done that recently. I’ve not wanted chocolate or crisps at all today. Please don’t let me down tomorrow scales! I’m heading into the big, dirty city for a school event and treating my school leaver to some time on her own with me, lunch and a Starbucks. I’ll have had enough carbs by the end of tomorrow to make up for today but I’m going for balance over time to allow for days like tomorrow and I love caramel frappuccinos so much. Or dirty Oreo bubble tea.

I'm not doing very well.

Tomorrow I'm going to the office so will be locked away on the top floor away from temptation.

You can do it. Remember that tomorrow is a fresh start and that you CAN do this. I thought I’d never get back on the wagon but I’ve had two great days and am eating healthier too and if I can do it then so can you. You’ve got this.
