⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Following on from ⭐️ Active April 2025⭐️

Are you up for getting Summer Ready? There’s still time to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body in time for the summer sun ☀️

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st The last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

PS - Grok 3 created my picture … not the best but perhaps I’m instructing him wrong. I still thanked him 😅

I'm also near a rain capital- anecdotally. We had a touch of rain yesterday morning, that's it! It's glorious. Means I walk everywhere!

To the pp who asked about exercise, I sync up my Fitbit with nutracheck and my goal is to burn over 1000 cals through exercise. Image below, when it clears.

Good morning. Accountability post incoming..😂. 11st 8lb at 57 and 5ft 7. Goal is 10:7, come on, how hard can it be..🤔
I lost a stone at the end of last year with slimming world but I am trying to go it alone for this last stone..I can do it but I’m finding it hard. Loving Nutracheck though..
Have a positive day everyone ..

socks1107 · 13/05/2025 08:20

@HollyGolightly4 do you mind me asking how you burn 1000 calories exercise? I walk 18k steps and it burns around 600-700 I’d love to get to 1000!

HollyGolightly4 · 13/05/2025 08:54

The walk has to be registered as exercise on Fitbit, so I have to walk at a certain pace for a certain length of time. I think minimum is about 15 minutes?

I find it loads easier if I'm listening to music, because I automatically move quicker!

Doing a class makes a massive difference. Yesterday it was a 40 minute Zumba class, and I know I've done ok if it's automatically recognised.

I also have a rowing machine (Argos, about £150) which I bought to just try and get myself fitter. The British rowing association has some great videos, because I can't stand the high energy LA ones 🤣

Don't get me wrong, I don't do it every day, but if I know I have a goal, it makes it easier for me!

Well, the weekend away has seen a 1.5kg gain. Presumably due to carbs and salt and constipation. I’m going to WOF this week instead of WOW to give me time to settle down after a weekend of food I don’t normally eat. I did do lots of walking though clocking up 25 miles over the 3 days which isn’t bad considering 3 hours of Saturday and 4 hours of yesterday was spent on a train or bus. I didn’t go mad either food and actually skipped lunch yesterday and Saturday and dinner on Sunday just due to logistics and timings of things. I just made up for it in ice cream and frappuccinos 😁
I think I’m almost caught up on the thread. Hello to the newcomers! Keep going everyone and don’t worry about the odd day where you go off track. Life is for living. My ex died at age 51 last year and although he’s a good example of needing to look after our health (his death was obesity and smoking related) I also consider his premature death a reminder that life is too short to miss out on things and reinforces what I’ve always said on here about there needing to be balance. A healthy-ish diet and lifestyle is not going to be ruined by one party, a weekend away or a fortnight of an all inclusive holiday. It’s what we do day to day that matters most.

in other news, when is it going to rain?! I don’t think we’ve had rain in over a month and I’m not far from the rainy capital of the UK with no rain forecast for the next 10 days.

Yes to rain! I’m a keen gardener with no outside tap at the moment (long, tedious story) and a community garden to water, and it’s getting really painful.

I’m impressed by all the exercise chat but I have to say I have never found exercise helpful for weight loss. Whether that’s because my bar is low or because it feels like a green light to eat back my calories, no idea. I have an ok baseline for fitness (my job is fairly physical for example) but would love to incorporate weights or similar into my routine.

Loss overnight, just back to below goal. No clearer about how to maintain but will try develop a plan!

TheaBrandt1 · 13/05/2025 09:51

I agree but it’s not the odd party or festival that leads to weight gain its the chomping biscuits daily (in my case anyway) which isnt massively life enhancing!

kirinm · 13/05/2025 10:31

Feeling quite down as my weight isn’t going down even though I am moving considerably more than I was and counting calories. I’m hoping it’s water retention from the running but I’m not sure. I also have to run again tomorrow and that’ll just add to the DOMS so I don’t feel like I’ll see a drop this week at all.

Fellsbells · 13/05/2025 11:00

Well done everyone for losses, maintaining or showing up.

I’ve had a relaxed two days and allowed myself to have some chocolate, pastries and icecream. Finding the middle ground between abstaining and binging is something I struggle with. I’m finding exercise is helping my overall mood which reduces the binging on calorie heavy food.

I’ll see what WOW brings, but I’m not expecting a loss. I’m clinging onto every pound at the moment. I don’t want to cut my calories any lower, but this really is a long slow loss.

WearyAuldWumman · 13/05/2025 12:19

Didn't make it to the gym yesterday after all, but did some band exercises at home and some gardening. All that raking and hauling up ivy has to be good for the arm muscles!

14st 13lbs this morning. Thought I might have gone up - had lunch at the farm shop and they gave me two baked potatoes "because they're small"!

I tried powdered creatine yesterday for the first time...Not sure if it's a good idea, but apparently it helps older bods? Bit concerned about possible side effects - I do tend to get tummy trouble. Wasn't too bad this morning, but if it proves to be an issue, I'll stop.

Had the creatine with my cornflakes yesterday. Do not recommend. I'm going to try a sachet with some lentil soup after the gym.

frostedshreddie · 13/05/2025 14:08

@LightGirlI just use YouTube for workouts, I have a list of all my favourite channels and just rotate them daily then pick strength/cardio/yoga depending on what I'm after.

@kirinmI am the same my weight has fluctuated around the same number for last 2 weeks or so even though I have been moving lots and eating really healthy. Trying to trust the process 😖

kirinm · 13/05/2025 14:15

Just went for a walk in the sunshine. ☀️ I’m at least forcing myself to get up and out so I’m not sat at a desk the entire day!

WearyAuldWumman · 13/05/2025 16:24

Had a gym session.

10 HIIT on the treadmill - walking only, as per consultant instructions. Average speed, 5.5 kph. Highest 6.5 kph.

3X10 20kg on the lat pull, triceps pull and biceps pull. 10X10 lunges each leg on the vibro plate. 3x5 on the leg extension machine, lowest setting. Only 3 minutes on the SPARC machine - no incline, set at 5 for resistance.

Shower and then lunch at the gym canteen: lentil soup with creatine powder; ham & cheese toastie with salad; coffee with oatmilk. Will have a couple of eggs and some grated cheddar for dinner later.

Having a seat at the moment, but shall head out to rake up some more hedge clippings and ivy.

I do a treadmill walk 3 times a week at home. You have given me the idea of adding some HIIT into it as well. I usually walk at one speed.

I do think that HIIT is helping. I only found out about it quite recently.

LegoTherapy · 13/05/2025 20:35

Slacking today but in my defence I had to get the bus this morning due to timings and the bus this afternoon due to the blisters on my feet so I suppose it’s not bad for only half the school run and half going to work.

GreenFressia · 13/05/2025 20:39

I had two mini wins today.

NOT choosing a chocolate bar at the station.

Ending up on on budget calorie wise because I tracked, despite having an off plan day at an event.

The chocolate bar (or lack of) was the major win though.

GreenFressia · 13/05/2025 20:44

Should also add, I told myself that a chocolate bar was okay sometimes if I want one, don't have to be perfect.

Then did wrestle with myself as I thought....but you've only been dieting a day 😂

Then in reality I couldn't actually find one I liked in Marks and Spencer so I left 🥴

My WOW

SW 13.13
CW 12.5
GW 11.8

I’ve lost a pound this week - slow and steady! But I’ve also got into x2 pairs of size 12 trousers

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/05/2025 07:15

Morning WOWers, fingers crossed for a decent weigh in for everyone. 0.4kg loss for me this week, so I’m ok with that.

SW: 98.9kg
CW: 93.3kg

Still have another two weeks left of the month (although half term and birthdays in the last week of May 😬), if I can lose around another kg by the end of the month I’ll be thrilled. That will take me back to my pre-Christmas / pre mum dying weight gain, weight.

TealSloth · 14/05/2025 08:38

Morning everyone. Am back up to 13.13. Don't know what's causing my weight gain but it's really bringing me down. Am doing alot of walking recently. Plus still on top of my work out. Am not giving up. Hoping it does drop at some point. Thankgod it's not froze just going up and down.

SummerOak · 14/05/2025 08:43

Welcome @mermadeincornwall

My WOW

SW 68 kg
CW 67.6 kg

I'm actually surprised that I did manage to lose anything. My weekend was a lot of unhealthy food choices, but also lots of moving around.

I like the idea that someone mentioned, have less calories during the week so you can have a bit more during the weekend.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/05/2025 08:48

Morning all, about half a pound down here, so I’ll happily take that as a win. Managed a bodycombat class lass night for the first time in ages - it was tough, my cardio fitness is down after a few months recovering from horrible cold virus, likely sinus infections etc. but feel on the right track. A few summer clothes I bought lat year when I was at my lightest still fit, but are a bit snugger than I would like so I’m feeling motivated to make sure they fit comfortably before I go on holiday.

today’s plan

B - boiled egg with toast
L - home made soup, falafel, humous, quavers, piece of fruit
D - pinch of nom dirty macaroni

Going to try and fit a core class in tonight, though I have quite a few chores and errands to do tonight ahead of a work trip away tomorrow, so that depends on me getting out of work sharp.

Good luck to all the WOWers today!

NerrSnerr · 14/05/2025 09:51

Weigh in day today.

Start Weight- 12st 8
Start of May weight- 12st 2
Week 1- 11st 12
Current weight (week 2)- 11st 10

Really pleases for another 2lb gone and only 2lb away from losing a stone. I am in that really annoying phase where I seem to be a size 13 in jeans (apart from one pair of Dorothy Perkins size 14 that are tiny and are nowhere near doing up). Really desperate to ditch the bigger jeans

Feeling in the grove at the moment, really hoping to keep the motivation up and I am desperate to only be overweight and not be obese anymore.

LightGirl · 14/05/2025 10:51

Minus 600 g this week (I joined on Friday so it's not a full week), but I am happy with that!

Feel supper bloated today, - why 😳😳😳
Any remedies that are not pills? Tried a "calm stomach" tea, doesn't seem to help. Despite the weight loss, I look like 5 months pregnant, which I am definitely not 😬😬 Don't know what caused it.
