Are you up for getting Summer Ready? There’s still time to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body in time for the summer sun ☀️

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st The last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

PS - Grok 3 created my picture … not the best but perhaps I’m instructing him wrong. I still thanked him 😅

Hello, I'm hoping to join, I need a kick-start over the next 4 weeks. I am performing on stage and seeing myself in the rehearsal videos (and in my own mirror) I really need to tackle some belly fat. Is there a quick way to start, before settling into a more sustainable routine thereafter? I know fast dieting isn't the way but I feel I might be better all or nothing, rather than gradual tweaks here and there. Don't have my current weight, though it is more about clothes fitting me properly.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 14/05/2025 10:59

WOW for me is 74.2kg (163lbs), down from 87.5kg (193lbs).

Still not got a handle on maintenance but I think that’s going to be my complaint for a while yet.

NothingTraLaLa · 14/05/2025 13:36

I’m getting really annoyed with creeping weight gain. Amazingly, I managed not to put on much weight during a 2-week holiday (probably all the walking I did) but I’ve gained since getting back and I need to rein myself in. I was half a stone lighter this time last year, and was almost at target, so I know I can do it.

I’ve made a start with a gym session and a couple of lower-carb meals, but really I need to cut back on “treats” which have become more than occasional.

CW 123.4 lbs
TW 112 lbs

LegoTherapy · 14/05/2025 16:53

No wow for me today. I’ve been in bed all day with side effects from the Covid vaccine and feel rubbish. I’ve had done rich tea biscuits and that’s it today. I’m just waiting on being able to go back to bed.

QueenMabby · 14/05/2025 17:26

For those who weigh weekly or less frequently I thought it would be interesting to see how weight can fluctuate throughout the week. Here is my last 7 days of weighing. I weigh first thing every day. I have not eaten in excess of my weight maintenance calories at all and have only eaten up to maintenance level on one day this past week. Yet my weight has still fluctuated by nearly a pound. Mostly due to water retention or food weight.

Hope you recover quickly, @LegoTherapy .

Back from the gym. HIIT walking on the treadmill for just over 10 minutes. Fastest speed was 6.2km per hr.

3X10 30kg weights on the low row. 3 sets of 5 on the lowest weight on the leg curl. Could feel it working my muscles and managed not to dislocate my dodgy knees.

3X10 side raises with 3 kg free weights whilst standing on the vibro plate and the same with biceps curls.

Only 3 minutes on the SPARC machine - legs were tired after the leg curl and I'm avoiding overdoing it.

Doesn't sound like a lot, but my arms and legs are tired.

SummerOak · 14/05/2025 18:12

Get well soon @LegoTherapy

@QueenMabby interesting how much water retention changes daily weight.

Today I had a protein smoothie for breakfast, goulash for lunch and Banana pancakes with natural yoghurt and strawberries for dinner. Also hit my step goal.

I'm always doing ok during the week, it's the weekend that messes everything up as we eat out a lot.

QueenMabby · 14/05/2025 21:14

@SummerOak- I’ve just started to cycle my calories across the week just because of that reason. I plan to keep my calories extra low Mon-Fri so I’ve got a bit of “slippage” already built in for the weekend!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/05/2025 22:33

Managed to stay in my calorie goal for today. Can recommend mini twisters for anyone who fancies a sweet cold treat in the nice weather - under 50 calories. No exercise, too many chores needed to be done and a touch of the Doms from classes on Monday and Tuesday. 10 mins short of my exercise goal on my Apple Watch so might need to do a bit of pacing around to close my rings!

HazelNotHungryLC · 15/05/2025 00:06

Back on track, logging meals, more active and less carbs. I'm down 1.8lbs since last Wednesday! That's even including eating out twice on the weekend, but being more mindful of my choices.

Last week: 166.5lbs
CW: 164.7lbs
GW: 155lbs (& to fit better in my clothes!)

Just under 10lbs to go.
My bloat is gone and I'm feeling so much better overall!

Medee · 15/05/2025 07:49

Yesterday’s WOW was my first weigh-in, at 14st exactly. Heaviest I’ve ever been. As it was my day off, managed a 30m cycle, 20m dumbbell workout and 5 mins of abs, plus a day of no snacking, and a fairly healthy dinner, protein and lots of salad.

QueenMabby · 15/05/2025 09:09

A bump down for my morning weigh in today - down from 9st 9.2lb to………. 9st 8lb! V happy. It’ll probably spend the next few days going back up again but I’m celebrating the loss today albeit (guttingly) without cake. 🤣

LightGirl · 15/05/2025 10:39

So I found Jillian Michael's "30 day shred" workout. I've been using it on my last weight loss journey, she is a monster! But so effective. Planning to try it again tomorrow and praying my 36 years old body won"t collapse in-between her cardio rounds.
Anyone tried it?

No, is that on YouTube?

WearyAuldWumman · 15/05/2025 18:11

No gym today - too stiff and hands are a bit sore: presume it's arthritis plus gripping weights etc.

Went out to do some chores. Fell asleep when I got back...Going to nip out to do a teeny bit in the garden.

However, tried on a pair of trousers that I couldn't zip up. Weight has fluctuated - I'd gone down to 14st 10, but put on 13lb after hysteroscopy/biopsy/Mirena insertion.

At 14st 10, could not zip up those trousers. I'm currently 14stone 13lbs. Today, the trousers zipped up comfortably. Maybe all the extra weight training, even though I'm heavier than the last time I tried them?

LightGirl · 15/05/2025 21:13

@Medee no, not on Youtube. I found it elsewhere. I believe you can't watch it for free (unless someone hacked it lol). I've been using it last time I lost weight and decided to try it again now.

LightGirl · 16/05/2025 03:58

Accountability post.
Okay, so I've just done level one (for beginners, obviously) of Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. To say that I am dead is an underestimation lol
I will definitely continue, but I thought of doing it every other day (taking turns with the treadmill).
I just hope one day I can look like myself again :)

Bea7 · 16/05/2025 04:24

What an inspiring thread. I would love to join, please.

I’m a newish second time mum who feels like she’s lost herself. We won’t be growing our family further so I’m looking forward to carving out some time to focus on me a little more now.

(Accountability post time!) Reasons for wanting to lose weight are:

  • to be healthy to be here for my DDs for as long as possible
  • to be a good role model for them in terms of loving myself and having a healthy attitude with food and my body image. I’m keen to no longer be trapped in a perpetual yoyo diet cycle by the time they’re old enough to see it.
  • to fit back into my old clothes
  • to just feel good about myself!

I’m hoping cutting down on UPFs will improve my health, wellbeing, energy etc… beyond my weight.

I’m currently around 76kg and need to lose about 20kg(!) to get back to my pre-DC weight - well, a few pounds above this as my body shape has been changed by two pregnancies.

Good luck everyone!

TheaBrandt1 · 16/05/2025 05:18

Good luck Bea! I started at 76kg too. I am of the “go hard go fast” method which is not for everyone. I am now 70kg so down 6kg since 25th March. If I can continue at this pace I will hit my goal of 65kg by July 🤞

Thank you! Oh, wow! That’s great. You’re not far off and there’ll be still plenty of nice weather left to perhaps treat yourself to some new summer clothes to feel fabulous in. Good luck.

Fellsbells · 16/05/2025 06:29

Well done everyone and welcome new joiners.

Positives and Negatives from this week for me.

  • I have done three runs and each time have slightly increased my speed.
  • I’ve tracked my food and eaten lots of protein and veg.
  • I’m going to bed earlier.

— I’ve gone over my calories by snacking in the evening.
_ I’m completely knackered
_ I’ve eaten lots of sugar (lots)
_ no strength training (because of the knackeredness)
_ I’ve put on nearly two pounds.

Back on it today with good choices and a long walk.

PatienceOfEngels · 16/05/2025 06:31

Still feeling absolutely rubbish (blocked up ears, so much work, visitors from UK, kids, stress!) BUT have managed to drop 1 kilo this week (actually think that it's 1.5kg from last Friday) to 75.1kg.

The next week is going to be very stressful but I'm going to try my best to eat sensibly and avoid stuffing my face with junk food when I'm feeling emotional or stressed. Determined to shift the extra weight I put on over the 2-3 week April/May holiday/residential (so another 2kg to go to 73kg) and then chip away at my target (68kg).

This week I've eaten pasta salad, spaghetti bolognese, tinned mushroom soup, crispy chicken and fried potatoes with veg, and chicken and veg noodles for dinners. Lunches have been: leftover pasta salad, egg and salad rolls, pumpkin pancakes, kidney bean soup with bread/spread. Going to have a chicken curry with rice tonight (already have a choice of bhuna or katsu sauce in the freezer). BBQ tomorrow and will make some salads and veg kebabs to balance out the burgers and sausages.

PatienceOfEngels · 16/05/2025 06:55

And now time for a catch up!

@LightGirl @Medee I used to love Gillian! Must dig her DVD out (never got past level 1 though!)

@Medee if you want a quick start then lots of water, veg and protein, cut down on carbs, sugar and alcohol (I struggle with cutting out bread completely because of fibre, but try for a higher fibre/denser bread for breakfast to fill me up more - I notice the difference when someone eats all my bread and I have to have a slice of wholemeal - I need 2 slices to stop me getting hungry instead of one slice of rye bread). Get lots of sleep and break a leg!

@Fellsbells well done for prioritising sleep and getting your runs in and @WearyAuldWumman well done on so much training/exercise💪

Welcome @Bea7 The difference between my pre-pg and highest non-pg weight was also almost 20kg (62kg > 79kg). My youngest is now 10 and I must admit I have given up getting back to pre-pg weight. If I can have a healthy BMI (68kg for me) I'll be much more comfortable in myself. If I can get to my lowest weight between kids (65kg) I'll feel amazing! I was also 76kg this time last week.

Wow @TheaBrandt1! Well done! I don't lose weight quickly (if I do, I put it straight back on). For me building good habits takes time to make them stick and I cannot sustain calorie counting/no sugar for very long. Have managed to stick to the long term habits of no alcohol, no caffeine after noon (much better for my sleep and overall well-bing), no sugary cappuccinos at work, and minimising bread for lunch/rye bread for breakfast (has helped me with bloating, sugar crash and general UPF reduction).

@LegoTherapy hope you're feeling better

kirinm · 16/05/2025 07:00

Very disappointed. I’m up a pound. I genuinely don’t think I deserve to be. I’m hoping it’s some sort of hormone fluctuation because other than not eating, I don’t think there’s a huge amount more I can do.
