⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Following on from ⭐️Move It March 2025⭐️

Spring has sprung at long last! ☀️ Are you ready for Active April?

To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st The last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

After what felt like 5 years of a plateau I am down a 1 lb today. Hope this is the start of movement downwards - happy out

Yeah!!!!! 👏 👏 👏

Puffalicious · 09/04/2025 12:08

Oh, if anyone has a link to good Fast800 plans I'd be most grateful. Holidays here & I'm time poor entertaining teens with DP still away Mon-Thur at present.

I need to do something to kick-start the slow loss. Thanks in advance.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/04/2025 12:38

Gah, 1lb up! I’m really annoyed - I haven’t been brilliant at calorie counting, but I have been mindful and pretty active so it’s a bit disappointing.

just need to keep at it, that half stone I wanted to lose by the summer seems like a mammoth task now. But onwards and upwards!

belnding · 09/04/2025 13:58

Today’s WoW

SW 72kg
CW 71.8kg
GW 68kg

I’m really sticking around this weight now. But to be fair I haven’t really made an effort with the calorie counting.

I am logging everything though, and I’m sure that alone will help a bit.

Off on holiday next week so I’m sure that will involve some big meals.

My menu for today

B - Greek yoghurt, sugar free granola, berries, chia seeds
L - tomato and sweet potato soup, small portion cooked chicken, satsuma, tiny pack of baked pretzels.
D - pork & rice dish from one of hairy bikers healthy books

snacks - had a little millionaire’s shortbread bite, may have a piece of fruit or slice of toast later

exercise - 10 minute flexibility stretches this morning, 20 minute walk at lunchtime, 1/2 hour Les mills core class.

WearyAuldWumman · 09/04/2025 20:55

Today's exercise: 10 min HIIT on cycle; 5X!0 sit to stand with 10 kg ball; 10 set of sliding down wall with yoga ball in between - whatever that's called; 10 sets of supported lunges; 3 sets of 10 of 3 different forearm exercises with 2kg weights.

Drinks: coffee with oatmilk; chamomile tea.

Food: too much carbo.

Cornflakes with oatmilk; medium baked potato with mince and small amount sweetcorn; cheese and ham toastie.

Remembered to take my Seven Seas supplement - need the Vitamin D.

socks1107 · 09/04/2025 21:08

food was good today and in calories.
Ive walked 17l steps and done a 30 minute swim.

HollyGolightly4 · 09/04/2025 23:31

Well done everyone. I'm really enjoying reading everyone's thoughts.

Haven't weighed in (might do it at the gym tomorrow) managed 20k steps today, which I feel I need to burn off my huge meal out the other day 🤣

Sighthoundsforever · 10/04/2025 00:14

@IDareSay many congratulations - delighted to hear your good news. I’m a big dog lover and volunteer in a rescue shelter every Sunday - get lots of steps in haha. Brilliant you are taking the time to settle them in. May you have a lifetime of happiness together.

to my plateau buddies - I feel your pain. In about 5 weeks I have lost 1lb in total. Up to then it was going great. Very frustrating. In calorie deficit on new weight, tracking food and 10k+ steps each day. If I don’t get a decent whoosh one of these weeks I’m going to cry. I’m 53 too - maybe the bloomin hormones are being evil

LBB2020 · 10/04/2025 09:53

Well done all, sounds like you’re all doing amazing! (I weigh on a Sunday).
Had an off day yesterday, food not terrible but was chained to my laptop all day and into the evening so step count was low.
I did also have a bit of a kick up the behind with some blood test results yesterday so I’m going to rethink my diet and keep up with my C25K and exercise routine.
Hope you all have a good day x

AnonymousMum37 · 11/04/2025 08:52

Plateau here too .. or just losing and gaining the same 2/3lb very frustrating

TakeAMinutePlease · 11/04/2025 09:42

Morning all.
I did not have a balanced food day yesterday but it was a lovely meal out with lovely friends! So I’ll draw a line under that and get back to my usual eating ways today <posting this to set my intention>

WearyAuldWumman · 11/04/2025 12:33

waves

I've had my morning gym session.

10 mins HIIT treadmill; 5 min HIIT SPARC.

Much the same for me. I'd like to think that it's cos I'm building muscle mass, but my stomach says otherwise.

Hi

Weekend incoming!!!! 😬Anyone else dread ruining all the hard work they have put in during the week just because its the weekend?

I have had a really good and positive week so far and I have dealt with some stressful things this week which normally would have had me saying 'sod it' and opening some wine but I didn't. Go me!!

Stuck to calories and got some decent workouts and walks with the dogs in this week and smashed my water intake.

Kept some calories for a glass or two of prosecco this evening and hoping that I don't turn into a massive twat and then decide to drink the whole bottle 😂

QueenMabby · 11/04/2025 19:59

@nessiesnotreal - this is me! Currently on my second glass of pink sunshine wine!
DH and I have a new routine whereby we try and finish work (at home) at 5pm on a Friday. We then go to the gym and eat when we get home.

Meals today:

B: Bagel with scrambled egg and half an avocado
L: Mumsnet massive salad. Mostly salad veggies with the other half of the avocado, some olives and some feta.
D: homemade pizza with two glasses of pink sunshine wine as aforementioned!

I’m quoting myself in shame! My DC made crème egg stuffed mini egg cookies today. They are irresistible 😳

I need to get back on it tomorrow!!!!!

LemonDrizzle23 · 11/04/2025 20:56

@nessiesnotrealand @QueenMabbyWeekend concerns here too 👋 I had a lovely, healthy lemon herby chicken and rice bowl planned for Saturday night and now DH is going on about bbq-ing instead. Maybe we can still keep the rice bowl, just with bbq chicken instead…

We’re back from our break now. Assuming there will be a bit of a gain, so ignoring the scales for a few days! Plans for some YouTube aerobics tomorrow AM, and walking Saturday and Sunday.

PatienceOfEngels · 12/04/2025 06:37

Late to the party and have to catch up with the thread.

Have been in a real slump since the end of November. Really need a kick up the backside to get me going again.

Trying to go back to Dr Chatterjee's podcast and books to help me make a plan. Eating poorly at the moment but also not moving enough, too much doomscrolling, not sleeping well. I like Chatterjee's holistic approach of focusing on Food - Movement - Relaxation - Sleep.

Current wins/good habits I've kept up:
-no alcohol (2+ years)
-no caffeine after midday (usually only with breakfast, and no more sugary cappuccinos at work, also for 2+ years)
-decent bedtime with nightly reading and phone stays downstairs
-have massively cut down on bread (which I find helps me avoid a mid afternoon slump)
-on work days always have fruit/veg and greek yoghurt/honey for snacks
-on days off I walkways get a short walk/cycle in (post school run, to and from music lesson etc).
-monthly meet up with a friend for a long walk (we both have families of 2 ND boys and DH's so always have a good chat and support each other).
-Joined a hobby club which even though it fills me with anxiety (not the hobby itself but socialising and expressing myself in another language)
-We generally eat home-cooked meals with a good balance of veg/protein/carbs.

What I'm struggling with:
-emotional eating (stress, tiredness, loneliness) particularly either once the kids are in bed or on days off when nobody is here to judge me.
-almost zero exercise - dropped daily yoga in November and struggled to get back into it.
-Endless doomscrolling and lack of ability to concentrate on anything without reaching for my phone.

-I carry all my stress in my pelvic floor and the last few months have been horrendous (work, bereavement, family estrangement/conflict, DH very stressed). I know I need to do daily meditation/mindfulness, journalling and relaxation to help this but am not taking the time, procrastinating with work so it piles up, not sleeping well. PF issues brought on by stress mean I end up not drinking enough water which brings its own problems.

I have one more week before our Easter break (long time coming! Not in UK) so ideal time to try and make a shift.

Have started journalling again, though need to make it more regular.
Must stop eating after dinner (and need DH's help for that).
Make a batch of soup for lunches to avoid 'treating' myself with junk.
Regular water and herbal tea. Set alarm if needs be.
Set alarm for twice daily pelvic floor exercises.
Daily walk - go in the evening on working days, morning on days off.

Starting today!

HollyGolightly4 · 12/04/2025 07:25

Congratulations @PatienceOfEngels it seems like you have so many good habits! I think lots of us are with you on the emotional eating.

Little and often re exercise. You've got this 💪

LighterSpring25 · 12/04/2025 08:12

Morning 🌄

I've had a rubbish week. I've been on my period and the scales have been up and down all week. Last night we had pizza and wine.

So I'm back on it today. Reading this thread and speaking to a friend has motivated me again.

So low carbing and strength training. I'll WOW.

LBB2020 · 12/04/2025 09:43

Ok day yesterday, was out all day with the children and took a healthy packed lunch to avoid buying rubbish sandwiches and chocolate bars etc! Also did another C25K run last night. We’re off out for the day today so know I’ll at least get my steps in! Hope everyone has a great weekend

WearyAuldWumman · 12/04/2025 10:39

Well, my weight is sticking.

I do seem to be developing biceps, however. Can't get to the gym this weekend - washed the car at the jet wash yesterday, shut the door and the driver side wing mirror glass dropped off and shattered!

I'm booked in to the local garage for Monday afternoon, but I've checked online and it's illegal to drive with no driver side mirror at all. Apparently you get off with a broken one?

I'm in a dilemma - hospital appointment at the other end of the county on Monday. This is when I find out whether I've to keep the Mirena and go on oestrogen or have the coil removed and stick with combined HRT. Ergo, have ordered a cheap replacement from Amazon which I will stick on with bands/gaffer tape to get to the hospital. I'll take the country roads to avoid dual carriageway vibrations.

Shall drive straight to the garage after the appointment and remove said mirror.

This weekend's exercise will have to working in the garden.

I'm hoping that once my HRT is a bit more balanced that it might be a teeny bit easier to shed the fat.

PatienceOfEngels · 12/04/2025 12:43

Thanks for the encouragement @HollyGolightly4 !

Today's wins:
-did not doom scroll during DC music lesson. Walked to park instead and sat in sunshine watching birds before doing some journalling.
-made a batch of soup so have some lunches to stash away
-got done the admin thing that's been on my list for weeks to do (my Just One Thing for today) plus got a bit of work done that's been hanging over my head. Also did a few chores (washing, beds, admin).

Kids are now quietly drawing/colouring, DH reading and I'm going to go outside and read/doze in the sunshine.

So far today:
-coffee, boiled egg and rye toast
-cheese scone
-soup (veggie scotch broth) with another cheese scone

Going to make pesto chicken salad wraps for dinner tonight and have some fruit this afternoon.
Still need to up my water.
