Spring has sprung at long last! ☀️ Are you ready for Active April?

To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st The last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

Morning all and happy April! I gave up on March. There’s too much going on in my life at the moment and I couldn’t focus on myself. I’ve not had a healthy breakfast but I’ll do better for the rest of the day and must get back into weights ready for my birthday and summer. I’ve got excess lard around my middle again that’s making me miserable. I’d like to lose about 5lb.
Here’s to April!

Fellsbells · 01/04/2025 08:03

WOW 10st 3.
GW 9st 6.

My strengths-
I’ve got a few events to aim for so I have motivation.
I’m doing regular exercise.
I don’t drink any calories.
I have time to cook healthy meals.
I already did this last September.

Weaknesses-
Sugar
Snacking
Roast potatoes
Hormones

Fellsbells · 01/04/2025 08:04

Just realised it’s Tuesday, not Wednesday 😂

QueenMabby · 01/04/2025 08:11

Can I join? I definitely need some support and accountability!

CW: 10 st 0.4lb
GW: 9 st 7lb
UGW: 9st 0lb.

I’ve set an initial goal of 9 1/2 stone. Really struggling with weight loss due to hormones being all over the place.

I go to the gym 3 times a week and do a weekly Pilates class. My job is sedentary so I probably don’t do enough daily steps but I shall work on that this month.

Many of my clothes feel tight and I just want to be back to my happy weight.

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/04/2025 09:37

I braved the scales. Not good.
SW: 12 st 0
CW: 12 st 0
GW: 11 st

My aim is for good nutrition, portion control, and no unhealthy snacking. So no biscuits, cakes, crisps etc. And to cut out (back?) alcohol.

I am already pretty active - running, weights & a pilates class, but I must clearly overeat as my body doesn't look like the honed athlete I delude myself that I am!

Got the nutracheck app yesterday. Wow - 1200 cals does not allow for much at all, once you factor in 3 meals, and eating back exercise calories. I have been in denial for a while !!

Good luck everyone - focus on one day at a time & we'll get through April lighter and brighter.

(So sorry for your loss @LemonDrizzle23 - it's really tough. Nature can be healing, especially now with sunshine, blossom and bird song. You can do it)

belnding · 01/04/2025 09:52

I’m in!
SW 72kg
GW 68kg
CW 71.8kg

I’m delighted to be below 72kg in a loonnng time.

I’ve gotten on board with calorie counting and I think simply tracking and recording alone is helping me massively.
it would be amazing if I could get below 70kg by the end of April.

good luck everyone- here’s to a wonderful month 🌸

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2025 11:02

@LemonDrizzle23 💔 Sending condolences 💐

Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife 💐

sorry for your loss @LemonDrizzle23

I’ve been sabotaging myself for some reason. I know I feel better when I eat healthily, but I’m struggling to leave the sweet stuff alone. Minor loss of less than a pound during the whole of March!

CW 120.6 lbs
TW 112 lbs

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2025 11:16

Cross posted @NothingTraLaLa . Great to see you joining in again. Self sabotage can be a downward spiral. The more sugar/carbs you have the more your body wants. Get through the couple of day withdrawal and you’ll soon be back on track! 👍

QueenMabby · 01/04/2025 11:28

Thanks for the welcome @TheRealHousewife

Pilates class done this morning. I’ve had a buttered bagel and some strawberries for breakfast and then a latte just now. Going to knuckle down and get a bit of work done and will try and get out for a walk later.

DS is home from Uni so this week’s dinners are full of his favourites! Toad in the hole tonight. I don’t want to not eat things I enjoy so I’ll aim to put the vegetables on the plate first and moderate my portion of the sausage and Yorkshire pudding magic!

I'm in.

Fell off the wagon to an extent after having a Mirena inserted as a uterine cancer preventative - had a few side effects.

Now back at the gym. Managed 4 days last week. Have a few appointments this week which are interfering with gym time, so doing band work and stretches at home.

Tried switching from calorie deficit to 2 dy fasting, but I'm not sure that it's for me. Think I'll be concentrating on building muscles at the moment.

Coming up for 65, 5ft 9 and cough 15st 2lbs. I had gone down to 14st 10lb before getting the Mirena. Most of my weight is around my middle. Start point was 16st 4lbs and extremely weak muscles.

Have increased muscular strength in my arms, thighs and glutes. Also have improved chest muscles.

I have knee problems - patella alta plus osteoarthritis - and my consultant merely told me that I can't get a knee replacement for at least 10 yrs and mustn't run...I'm also to avoid stairs and slopes. (In Scotland???)

I'm allowed to walk on a treadmill, so my warm up consists of walking between 4.5 and 6 km per hr. A couple of times, I've accidentally hit 7 and nearly had comedy flying-off-the-treadmill moments.

I use free weights at the gym, but only two X 3kg at the moment. Am managing 30kg on the low row. 20/25 on the lat pull, triceps pull. 30kg on biceps pull.

SPARC machine has to be level for my knees and resistance level 5 at the moment.

ETA Noooooooo! I've hit the 'quote' button again. Sorry!

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2025 13:07

@WearyAuldWumman Welcome to the thread and congratulations on your progress! You are doing some awesome exercise in spite of your knee problems and achieving great results! Well done … it couldn’t have been easy for you! 👏

HollyGolightly4 · 31/03/2025 20:16

Do you have a goal @AnonymousMum37? Like a particular weight, or a special event? I find that can help! Plus celebrating small successes.

I've got a holiday in July, and I'd like to be under 11 stone if possible, so 150 to feel comfortably under I think. I'm 161 this morning (158.2 over a week ago and not sure where this gain came from 😔).

TheWayTheLightFalls · 01/04/2025 14:17

Hello. Signing in if that's ok. I'm on other threads with @thenewaveragebear1983 and @LegoTherapy so it's nice to see friends here!

SW: 87.5kg / 192lbs - on 9 Feb this year
CW: 77.1kg / 169lbs
GW: 75kg - and then reassessing.

I calorie count, weigh daily and use Happy Scale. I tend to eat a lot of high volume food (lots of veg soups etc) and try to stick to two meals a day. I've found it manageable so far and happy with the rate of loss but obviously the more I lose the harder it gets so some accountability is helpful.

Also gardening more now that it's warmer, and I have the neighbour's enthusiastic Corgi round once a week so he drags me round the park.

Midlifeshenanigans · 01/04/2025 19:20

An I join please. Starting again this morning after a complete lack of motivation this year.

SW 157.8lb
GW 130lb

Going away in June and would like to be at least 10lb down by then. I use Happy Scale and calorie count. I need to exercise more but currently suffering menopausal exhaustion along with issues with elderly parents and a recent bereavement so if I make it through the day I’m taking it as a win.

TakeAMinutePlease · 01/04/2025 20:13

Weighed in this morning and here’s my starting point:
SW - 66.5kg
GW - 64.5kg
UGW - 63kg

LBB2020 · 01/04/2025 21:23

So sorry for your loss @LemonDrizzle23

A good start to the month for me today. I stuck to three meals with no snacks, have done week 1 run 2 of C25K and drank more water than I have been (still not enough though!). Just settling down with DH to watch a bit of tv with a cup of peppermint tea

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/04/2025 21:28

April has started well for me. I usually find Tuesdays really challenging as it is my one office day, I end up dehydrated and frazzled, rush home, do kids football, and don’t exercise. Well today was different as I made myself drink a big glass of water every time I went to the loo, and dh was home early so he did football, so I took my dog out after dinner. I ate mine early which stopped me eating rubbish. So all in all, a pretty good day for a Tuesday- ended up on 1250 calories and ate lots of veg, drank lots of water.

I didn’t do a start of the month weigh in as I forgot, but yesterday I was 157lbs so I’ll use that.

WearyAuldWumman · 01/04/2025 21:45

Should have been to the gym today but had deal with a memorial problem, would you believe? All the memorials installed in the Garden of Remembrance in '21 had peeling inscriptions. They were re-done 2 yrs ago. On Sunday I saw that one of them was peeling yet again.

Have reported and they'll fix it free of charge.

Had a healthy enough lunch - lentil soup, cheese toasty and salad. Chamomile tea. Wasn't going to eat any more today.

Did a bit in the garden, but that was minimal.

Have just had some Haagen Daz ice cream. Oops.

Will definitely be at my class at the gym tomorrow evening.

RareMaker · 01/04/2025 22:26

Hi! I'm here, struggled today!

Sw- 11st 6

Anyone on garmin connect?

Sighthoundsforever · 01/04/2025 22:46

@LemonDrizzle23 i am so sorry for your loss. Very tough

I have followed the threads from January to now - have changed my name recently in honour of my 2 beloved rescue furry babas. I am stuck at 10st 5 for a good few weeks now with no budging. Lost 24 pounds since new year and think maybe I’m at maintenance calories now. Don’t want to lessen calories further as I would be too hungry and cranky. Think i will up my walking and see how it goes. Only want to lose a few more pounds so no biggie. Good luck everyone

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/04/2025 07:18

Thank you to everyone for your condolences. The world feels very weird to me right now, but I know it will get easier eventually.

As ever, good luck to those WOW-ing. As suspected, after weeks of sitting in hospital and generally eating like shit, I’ve put on several kg which is annoying.

SW: 97.5kg
CW: 94.2kg
5%: 92.5kg

Aiming to be very gentle with myself for now. Have upped my walking. Focusing on nutritious foods and sleep.

TealSloth · 02/04/2025 07:19

Morning all hope your all well. Yesterday I've done great keeping my intake of calories under 1400. Need to loose some pounds this week. Hopefully will weigh myself in next week and have a better results. Today weigh in loss nothing gainned nothing am still the same. Hopefully week after il have managed to loose something. But will not stress.

Fellsbells · 02/04/2025 07:31
