Hello and welcome!

Following on from 🎄LOSE IT! November 2024🎄

We are now entering the final few weeks of Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/12/2024 20:17

Survived a very busy weekend and finally feeling like my cold is over.

Went to the gym today and managed 8km on the bike. Feeling a bit stiff now 😂

Slow cooker lunch ✅
10,000 steps ✅
Move ring closed ✅
Few too many calories ❌

PatienceOfEngels · 02/12/2024 20:48

Dinner was pea soup with smoked sausage and bread.
I didn't manage a 5 minute yoga video.
But no evening snacking.

DH starts a new job after Christmas but has just finished his old one so he'll be at home until then. I was annoyed that he'll be at home and won't get any time to myself BUT have realised that I won't eat nearly as much junk if he's there so fx for a good loss this month 😂

TheRealHousewife · 03/12/2024 09:34

Good Morning All

Good idea @InterstellarDrifter 👍

@PatienceOfEngels Well done on swerving the night time snacking 👍. Can’t you send DH to day care 😅

@beezlebubnicky I wouldn’t say fighting fit but definitely better than I was thank you. PS nothing wrong with biryanis for breakfast 😋

@Cjholly1974 Hope the scales gave a positive result 👍

@Goodafternoonmillie Well done on your loss 👏

Pleased to read your cold is over @LemonDrizzle23 ❤️ Pesky things they are!

@TheRealHousewife his presence today made me get out of the house instead of sitting on the sofa all day AND I didn't snack!

Good food day.
-boiled egg, rye toast w butter, coffee
-pear, cheese, nuts
-spiced carrot soup and a slice of bread and butter
-pulled pork, mashed potato, red cabbage with apple

Went for a walk this morning and got my steps in. Felt great to be outside.
Did my food shop for the soup I'm making tomorrow - the 2nd recipe in the article - squash and pasta with fried sage and parmesan.

A proper thick vegetable soup is just the thing to see you through the exhausting run-up to Christmas

Goodafternoonmillie · 03/12/2024 19:30

10 st 4.0 today which is 1.4 lb loss from this time last week. I have however succumbed to some(lots) christmas choccies today 😳 so I expect that loss to be short lived.

otherwise good day food wise and completed a 20 min hiit this morning.

just have to keep going!

TheRealHousewife · 03/12/2024 19:52

@PatienceOfEngels Lovely recipes, thanks for sharing. Well done on getting the steps in! 👍

Great result @Goodafternoonmillie here's hoping it sticks. If not there's always next week 👍

Good morning all! Here with my Wednesday WOW.

It's a maintain for me this week after a week of illness. Probably fair enough. I am enjoying being back in the gym now though. Successful day yesterday:

Slow cooker lunch
Well over 10,000 steps
Closed move ring
Sensible calories

Good luck to all WOWers!

LegoTherapy · 04/12/2024 07:25

Morning all. 54.95kg but lacking in toilet action for TMI Blush It appears to be the menopause that has messed up my digestive system. A never ending joy it is being a woman. Plus the HRT has really ramped up my endometriosis pain. But I'm alive and relatively healthy and looking forward to Christmas 😃

Good luck to those Wowing today. You've got this. Don't worry too much this month, just go with the flow and don't go mad too often and January won't be a scale shocker. That's the advice I'm giving myself anyway. We are no sociable people so there's no parties or meals out apart from a pub lunch this weekend but I'll share pizza and chips with the dc and probably share a pudding. There'll also be plenty of home baking this weekend due to guests. I can't eat large amounts anymore which I'm very grateful for. Gone are the days of polishing off a 12 inch take away pizza by myself. Ok, it was a push to get the last slice down but I used to do it. I can't imagine ever doing that again. Chocolate is still my vice though. Knowing when to stop before I get to the feeling sick stage isn't something I've mastered yet😩

21 sleeps until Christmas 🎄

PatienceOfEngels · 04/12/2024 07:46

SW 77kg (Oct 22)
CW 72.3kg
GW 68kg

WOW -0.6kg.

A good start to the month. Need to keep it up and try to get kick started with yoga again.

Today:
-boiled egg, rye toast with butter, coffee
-fruit and veg plate
-leftover pulled pork, mash and red cabbage/apple
-greek yoghurt with honey
-DH is cooking tonight so not sure but probably crispy chicken with broccoli and pasta

IDareSay · 04/12/2024 07:48

Good morning Wowers

A slight nudge down, which I am grateful for. Very social week coming up which is unusual for me; Christmas fair in town this evening, village Christmas party tomorrow, meal out Friday, drinks next Tuesday and a memorial service with food and drink in amongst it all somewhere.

SW: 73.9kg (11st 9lbs) (beginning of August)
CW: 70.1kg (11st and a third of a lb!) today, 04/12. Just under a lb off this week.
GW: 69.0 kg (10st 12lbs) Christmas interim target
GW: 57kg (9st)

Onwards and downwards 1.1kg to go...

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 04/12/2024 08:16

Can I join?
Like @PatienceOfEngels , my downfall is crisps. I think it's probably simpler just to cut them out completely for the next month - I don't seem to have an 'off' switch with them.

Goals for December:

  • no crisps
  • daily walk/exercise
  • increase protein
  • most days do 16:8, some days do OMAD if possible.
  • restrict alcohol sometimes (not always)

Haven't weighed myself today, but I have half a stone to lose. Am currently around 12st

TheRealHousewife · 04/12/2024 09:16

Good Morning All

@LemonDrizzle23 Well done on maintaining, better than a gain 😬

@LegoTherapy TMI - I’ve found that if I increase chia seed intake I tend to experience Poophoria 👌. I make a seed cracker by mixing pumpkin, sunflower, chia seeds, psyllium husk, water and salt & pepper. Let soak 30 mins. Press/roll onto a lined tray and bake in a low oven for an hour before scoring into squares then finish off in a turned off oven until dried out fully. I find them delicious. Totally natural and they have oodles of protein, fibre & good fats 👍. I’ll post a picture … of the crackers that is 😅

Congratulations @PatienceOfEngels @IDareSay on your losses 👏

Wellcome to the thread @Ohyesthankyouglitter Great to see you’ve outlined your ‘how’ 👍👌 As most people realise, a failure to plan is planning to fail.

WOW - Up 😳 8st 11.2lb. I’ve been on point, therefore I’ve put it down to natural fluctuations. Not worried 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Veg soup and GF seed crackers - see photo of crackers.
Meal 2 - Sausage, carrots, cabbage, Brussels sprouts & onion gravy.

Tea, black coffee and water, water, water 💧

Wow this morning was 12 st 4 3/4lbs which is 2lbs down on last week so I’m happy with that. I have had a pretty good week but it was more than I was expecting!!

It’s the third time I’ve been back down here at 12 stone 4lbs ish but I’m trying to see that as a positive in that the more times I see a certain lower weight on the scale the more likely it seems that I’m really on a downward trend (even if it takes a bunch of upward blips along the way!). I’m not sure how much evidence there is for the ‘set point weight’ idea but I like the concept!

I'm doing a running challenge this month of running 25 mins minimum every day and I’ve done the first three days, so feeling good about that. It’s nice to have a push to get outdoors and get moving and I always feel better afterwards.

TheRealHousewife · 04/12/2024 09:27

@OneDayIWillLearn Fabulous result! Great weekly loss! 👍👏

Hello lovely people. Hello @TheRealHousewife

I’ve been on the wrong thread, having a little chat with myself and wondering why it was quiet 🤫

I’m so glad I’m not on my own for Weigh in Wednesday. I’m 70kg, have been bobbing between 71 and 70kg for a couple of weeks, but definitely my core looks more toned and I’m enjoying fitness classes.

Happy to have found my people again 👋

Well done all the losses 🥳
those crackers look delicious @TheRealHousewife I definitely want to try this recipe!!

todays weight: 10 st 3.8 lbs
calories for today: 1322
keeping it lower today as tomorrow have more festivities and hoping for it to balance out a bit. Woke up late today but squeeze in a 15 min workout for consistency more than anything else. It all adds up right !!

calmandcollected101 · 04/12/2024 20:00

I love this thread!

Joining in too!

Had my son in 2022 split from father and can't stop emotionally eating.

Juice of celery carrot apple and ginger
Coffee

First meal
Light lunch of veg, boiled egg and yoghurt

Small dinner of veg

Juice again
Green tea

TheRealHousewife · 04/12/2024 20:18

@Goodafternoonmillie They are quite moorish 😋 Other half says they remind him of ryvitas. He has them slathered in best butter so defeats the object of healthy eating 😅 Another loss you’ve banked 👍

@calmandcollected101 Welcome to the thread and congratulations on your baby. Emotions, mental health and food are so entwined. In my younger days I ate when happy, when sad, when bored etc. Any excuse really. Now that I’ve developed an awareness around nutrition I try to listen to my hunger cues and not be seduced into eating my feelings. Easier said than done.

So very true, it is all about eating intuitively. I like the tips you gave on behaviours to do opposed to reaching for food. I will try this.

I'm 28 and trying to get a grip on my health and just march on the spot to get some steps in and movement !

Currently 58kg at 5'1.
Aim to be 53kg

LemonDrizzle23 · 04/12/2024 20:32

Good day here today. Started off at the gym and then friend called to see if I wanted to go for a walk. So had a very active day.

Slow cooker lunch
15,000 steps
Gym session
Move ring smashed
Kept roundabout to calories.

OliveZebra · 04/12/2024 21:51

👋 jumping over from the last thread

Starting weight - 69kg
week1 - 68.4kg
week 2 - 68.2kg
week 3 - 67.4kg
Week 4 - 67.8kg
week 5 - 67.2kg
week 6 - 67.1kg
week 7 - 67kg

Another absolutely tiny loss - but I’ll take it!

TheRealHousewife · 04/12/2024 22:46

@calmandcollected101 Youre petite like me. I’m just shy of 5ft on a good day 😬 Any extra weight I carry shows! At 28 your at a perfect age to make long lasting and meaningful changes that will absolutely improve all your health and wellbeing markers 👍

@LemonDrizzle23 Well done on smashing your move ring! Excellent 👌

Hi @OliveZebra Welcome to December. Youre making steady progress. Every little helps! Well done 👍

Thanks for the recipe @TheRealHousewife I'll give those a go with some chilli cheddar I think.
@calmandcollected101 welcome! I'm raising ds as a sole parent and have done since being pregnant with him so I know how hard it is. I lived on chocolate hobnobs mainly and many a meal in the early days was a bowl of dry Cheerios 😩 These threads are wonderful company and very supportive. Ive lost over 2 stone and kept it off for over a year now with the odd kilo or two coming and going over that maintenance time. You've got this.

My mum commented that she thought I'd lost weight today. My legs look slimmer along with my waist apparently. I assured her that I haven't lost weight and weigh myself regularly. I'm always within a couple of kilos so I don't see how it's noticeable.
Today we went into the big dirty city and had an equally dirty dinner in Wetherspoons. The pizza is nice in there. Dd and I shared a pizza and a bowl of chips but didn't finish either. Dd then had a pudding. I didn't because I find I just can't eat as much now. Well, I could have eaten it but I'd have felt uncomfortable and sick so what's the point.

I've done some more Christmas shopping and I think I'm almost done. I've not bought anything in for nice food though. Not yet. Apart from some M&S chocolate biscuits and chocolate pine cones. Those will be saved until Christmas.

11.35 miles walked and 2,585 calories burnt according to my Fitbit.
Breakfast: tea with skimmed milk and homemade bread toast with butter.
Lunch: cereal bar
Snack: iced finger
Dinner: mist of half a pizza and a third of a bowl of chips
Snack: M&S fudge bar

Not a healthy day at all.
