Hello and welcome!

Following on from 🎄LOSE IT! November 2024🎄

We are now entering the final few weeks of Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Good morning, last weeks poor choices still effecting the scales (and my skin unfortunately). However I did a work out yesterday and I know I just need to stick with some healthy choices to get back to where I was.

LegoTherapy · 17/12/2024 08:59

It's getting to the sod it stage in proceedings but the habits I've instilled seem to be very ingrained now and I can't eat big meals and don't enjoy sweets like I used to. I'm going to get some Turkish delight though incase o don't get round to trying to make some. I've said I'll make a Yule log but I don't k ow how successful that will be. I've not bought any baileys or tubs of chocolates. Boring maybe?!

TheRealHousewife · 17/12/2024 10:54

Good Morning All

@Fellsbells I agree with you about how what we eat affects our skin. I can see some poofiness and blemishes in my skin since I had some chocolate and mince pies. I’m also more achy painy around my joints too. My body hates sugar in any form and it defo causes inflammation and problems down the line. I never remember this when I’m eating this stuff 😅 (I’m pleased it isn’t often)

@LegoTherapy Turkish Delight is one of my other half’s favourites … do you have a recipe you can share pls?

Menu
Meal 1 - GF seeded crackers and avocado.
Meal 2 - Salmon & Green bean quiche. Sugar free Strawberry jelly mouse & fresh cream.
Tea, black coffee and water.

checking in, rollercoaster of a week. House move is all sorted and positive steps have been taken, as soon as I breathe a sigh of relief my 5 yo ends up poorly @ 3am and we have to call an ambulance! She is fine now thank fully.
little sleep and lots of stress = not a good combo.

trying my best to keep the good habits rolling.
green smoothie today and have made a fig & mozzarella salad for lunch later.
going to make a red pepper dip as well for snacks with cucumber/carrot sticks.

might consider a low impact workout this afternoon if I can pin down some motivation!

well done everyone for keeping going!! Not long until Christmas :)

TheRealHousewife · 17/12/2024 13:16

@Goodafternoonmillie What a stressful night you’ve had! Pleased to read your little one is now ok ❤️

Fellsbells · 17/12/2024 17:21

@Goodafternoonmillie hope your DD is feeling better now.

Checking in as I’m hanging on by my finger nails. I’m logging food on mfp again.

B- greek yogurt, chia, blueberries & flax.
L- small portion of left over rice and curry.
S- carrots and hummus.

I’m not sure about dinner, possibly salmon and sweet potatoes.

Focusing on:-
water
moving
protein
keeping within 1400 calories if possible.

Fellsbells · 17/12/2024 19:56

I have brushed my teeth. I will not, not, not eat anything else today.

TheRealHousewife · 17/12/2024 20:16

That’s the spirit @Fellsbells 👍. I’m off for a bath and having an early night tonight as I’m shattered.

I've had a good few days. I've been listening to a hypno recording and it's definitely curbing my appetite and making me make better choices which is good. For example, Tuesday is my office day and usually I return home a frazzled mess and raid the kitchen, but today I didn't, I got in at 5, had a small piece of cheese and took ds to football, even went to the supermarket and normally I might end up eating chocolate, but I didn't tonight. I decided not to have a huge dinner, but instead I had some really delicious date and walnut bread with blue cheese and chutney and it was so nice. I can't tell you what a noticeable difference that is, even from last week.

I have such a busy few days. I'm going to try my best to eat as normally as possible and get my exercise in as best as I can.

LemonDrizzle23 · 18/12/2024 07:06

@Goodafternoonmillie I so sorry, what a stressful night. I'm glad DD is feeling better.

With a week to go before Christmas, DS is absolutely beside himself with joy 😂 His elf is being cheeky. School is basically colouring and videos at this point. He's living his best life! I am also pretty much ready. Need to get on with wrapping today while DH is actually in the office.

Whilst knowing I have definitely had a bit of a gain this month, I am not giving in. Before the end of 2024 I have three meals out and two days of Christmas eating, but otherwise sticking to routine!

I am getting my steps in.
Slow cooker lunches made this week.
Christmas food remains locked away in the garage!

LegoTherapy · 18/12/2024 07:08

Last WOW of 54.15kg today so that's down from last Wednesday but up from the other day. Wednesday always coincides with being bunged up Blush I said I wanted to be 54kg for Christmas and I've achieved that so I'm happy.

Good luck to the wowers today!

OneDayIWillLearn · 18/12/2024 07:48

Wow at 12 st 3 1/4 lbs this morning which is 1/4lb off from this time last week. So not exactly earth shattering but better than a gain right?!

I’ve been good on weekdays but had a Christmas lunch/ all-day party on Saturday and ate and drank roughly everything in the world (and it was worth it!).

I’m still doing my run-every-day-in-December challenge which has been great for sanity and taking the edge off all-day Christmas parties though getting more of a logistical challenge as we get to the end of term and closer to actual Christmas.

Ive got a meal out for my wedding anniversary tomorrow and another Christmas party on Saturday so it’s definitely a case of being sensible when I can, enjoying the good times when they come, and lowering expectations of weight loss a bit until the New Year….

IDareSay · 18/12/2024 08:10

Good morning Wowers

The tiniest nudge down and must admit I am very disappointed as I’ve tried really hard this week.

SW: 73.9kg (11st 9lbs) (beginning of August)
CW: 69.9kg (10 stone 13 and a 1/2lb) today, 18/12. So 100g off again this week.
GW: 69.0 kg (10st 12lbs) Christmas interim target
GW: 57kg (9st)

So I’m into the 69s by the skin of my teeth but very much at the top end. Will do one more weigh in before Christmas just for interest. Feels like my body is determined to stay at this weight just now!

Fellsbells · 18/12/2024 08:16

Wow is pretty good considering where I was at the weekend. I’m back into the 9s by the skin of my teeth. More importantly, one day of eating well has calmed my skin down already.

plan for today
B- yoghurt
L- vegetable tagine halloumi.
D- steak and veg.

TheRealHousewife · 18/12/2024 12:17

Good Morning All

My WOW was 😮 for all the wrong reasons! Up to 9st 2lbs. I weighed and re-weighed. Jesus, Mary & Jesus and the wee donkey! I did have a few sweets and a couple of mince pies at the weekend … oh and I just remembered we unexpectedly had chip shop fish and chips last night 😬. It is what it is. On a positive note I’ve upped my salmon intake to assist in achieving that nice skin glow that only oily fish can give you 👍

@Fellsbells Congrats in getting back into your 9’s 👏

@IDareSay Well done on your loss 👍. Try not to be disappointed. It’s a fine line between Lodi g/staying the same/gaining. Overall my cals have averaged out over the week but I’ve seen a considerable gain due to salt, sugar and the wrong carbs.

@OneDayIWillLearn Most definitely better than a gain! Well done 👏

@LegoTherapy Congrats on meeting your Christmas goal 👏👌

@LemonDrizzle23 Your post was a joy to read, especially about your little one’s excitement 🥰 I love your attitude in regards to food 👌

@thenewaveragebear1983 The date and walnut bread with blue cheese is right up my street. We were discussing what to have Christmas Eve Evening Meal and we decided on a coffee table picnic of cheese, cold cuts, crackers, salad etc. I think what you had will make it onto the list 😋

Menu
Meal 1 - Smoked salmon mouse on gf seed crackers.
Meal 2 - Hearty Chicken & Mixed Bean soup.

Tea, black coffee & water.

PS This time next week …. Ho ho ho 🎅🏼🎅🏼🎅🏼

Wow - No change. Happy with that.
Heading towards the holiday now - heading to the UK to spend with family. Staying away from alcohol is still easy but need to make sureI don't go crazy on cheese and crisps, and keep my fruit and veg intake up.

Have a great break everyone.

Fellsbells · 18/12/2024 13:24

Mid day wins.
I haven’t eaten any of the pancakes I made for the DC.
I didn’t eat any of the chocolates that are left.
I didn’t eat a twix that I came across.

TheRealHousewife · 18/12/2024 13:51

@PatienceOfEngels Have a great trip and a lovely festive time ❤️

@Fellsbells A hat trick of swerves … well done! 👍

I have fallen off track with food this month but still exercising and trying to be mindful. I'm planning to take next week off exercise then back on it the following week.

Fellsbells · 18/12/2024 18:11

The sugar withdrawal headaches started this afternoon, but a big hearty dinner has helped. I’ll do a 30 minute workout later on this evening and it will have been a good day.

LegoTherapy · 18/12/2024 19:38

It seems that everyone is doing well even if they think they aren't because this time of year is tricky to say the least. A few after 8s as I fill the next few doors of the advent calendar, 3 chocolate biscuits here, half a pack of shortbread there, a hot chocolate while waiting for the bus with ds, less walking because I'm sat on my arse wrapping presents and watching tv because I've had more days off. I'm still clocking up 10 miles a day on average though. The lack of school run for two weeks could prove disastrous for my weight control.

@TheRealHousewife it's the salt and carbs. It happened to me and was gone again in a couple of days.

Keep going everyone but remember to enjoy yourself and that life's for living plus it's only Christmas once a year 🎄

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/12/2024 20:19

Busy day at work today, dh away on a works do tonight, ds sent home from school unwell and another generally busy day all round. Did a bit of housework because the place is an absolute tip. We have a bed being delivered tomorrow which meant tidying Ds's room so it can actually go upstairs. I also have my big shop being delivered in the evening.

My food went a bit awry today. I ate far more bread and toast than was strictly necessary (damn you Morrisons 10p bread bargains) and then it continued in that fashion all day. I did offset slightly with a 5km run in the rain. But I'm still ending the day well over, although my weak view on nutracheck is still in the green.

I'll try again for a good day tomorrow, I have already got things out of the freezer for breakfast and lunch, and will try to have a lot fewer carbs and much more protein tomorrow.

LemonDrizzle23 · 18/12/2024 20:25

Well done to everyone WOW-ing this close to Christmas - nerves of steel the lot of you 😂
I'm sure it's just a temporary bump @TheRealHousewife

Happy holidays @PatienceOfEngels and excellent restraint @Fellsbells !

Good session at the gym today. I've booked DS in for sessions on Saturday and Monday, which will keep DH and I moving and hopefully eating less crap in the run up to Christmas!

DH is on his work do tonight, so I'm watching Home Alone.

Fellsbells · 19/12/2024 08:40

sounds like a perfect evening @LemonDrizzle23.

Another lb off today so I’m back to pre blow out weight.

Feeling energised and motivated today. Probably because I haven’t eaten anything with sugar in for a couple of days. I can not manage my sugar intake, I’m all or nothing.

Fellsbells · 19/12/2024 20:48

Checking in here so that I don’t eat anything else today.

B- Greek yoghurt and blueberries.
L- handful of fries and half a small burger.
D- vegetables and halloumi.
S- chicken breast, green beans and olives.
