A boring thread of calorie counting/whatever accountability

Hi, fucking hell, I'm trying to gradually make changes and loose weight sustainably but I keep falling off the wagon to the point that I'm flat lining/ beginning to trend upwards so I'm going to try calorie counting instead for a while while I get back down. Threads like this have helped me in the past, but I'll probably only post weight I what I've eaten - anyone want to join & encourage each other?
I'm 5 foot 10, 88kg and would like as a first goal to eat 1500 -1600 calories a day and get down to 85kg before Christmas, with a longer term goal of getting to 80kg and possibly staying there, possibly getting to 75 (which is actually a healthy weight for me.

Thought today would be miles over as I went out for a special dinner with friends. As luck would have it though due to very slow service and a menu with some good calorie counted options I ended up less ridiculously over than I thought (and 14K of steps so who knows maybe they will balance things out a little….).

vanilla red bush with oatly, coffee with oatly
48

lunch:
Heinz cream of mushroom soup (one can)
one slice of sourdough toast with butter
356

Total: 1750!! Everything seems to have gone to pot a bit! I am SO HUNGRY today!! I ended up having a supper of a cheese wrap and an oat and pecan bar last night too! I've not had any exercise at all today either. On the one hand I'm disappointed with myself, on the other hand I'm quite proud of myself because I went shopping and I was this close to buying crap to gorge in the car but I held off. So I don't know how to feel or what to think! I'm just hoping this hunger is not going to last or my diet is screwed!

Do you guys realise that today is 2 months til Christmas?!

RainbowWife · 26/10/2024 19:12

Hello everyone, just popping in to say I'm on holiday til Tuesday so eating absolutely everything. Vaguely trying to log it all too just so I know, am 900 over today! So won't weigh in this week and will be back Wednesday :)

Have a lovely time! Are you somewhere warm and sunny? If so I'm very jealous!

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 27/10/2024 19:41

Everything has gone very skewwhiff the last few days! I've been so hungry, barely exercised at all and went to a wedding yesterday which threw any notion of dieting out of the window!! I'm really trying to press the 'reset' button but it's hard!

Anyway, Sunday 27th Oct:

Breakfast: Banana - 100
Yoghurt - 50
Oat bar - 250

Lunch: Bread - 300
Butter - 50
Tomato soup - 150

Mango - 100
Cake bar - 100

Dinner: Pasta - 300
Babyleaf salad - negligible
Mayo - 150
Juice - 100
Pear - 100
Halo top icecream - 100

Total: 2050!!!!

Oh my God! Seriously!? I only had one walk today, of about 30 minutes. Weighed myself and I'm 12.5, which is a loss of 2lbs, but still very firmly 'in the 12s'. I can feel myself giving up. How can I get myself back on track again?

OneDayIWillLearn · 28/10/2024 07:31

I’ve also been AWOL - it was my birthday yesterday and we were away for the weekend so I was eating all sorts (and didn’t track). We are also away this coming week - I’ll try to eat more normally and track again but no scales so I won’t weigh in for another week and I doubt I’ll be able to stick to my goal every day.

I’m not going to lie, it was fun to let myself go a bit but it was also great to be on that trip feeling good about my body and noticing how much looser my clothes were. And I do actually feel ready to get back on the (relatively!) straight and narrow again now.

RainbowWife · 28/10/2024 15:19

I wish I was somewhere warm and sunny! Sadly not! The wet climes of Scotland.

@SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter don't give up now, think of the long term, and how much weight 1lb a week is over a year. We're all rooting for you.

Just looking at your meal plan. What bread are you using? I use Hovis (or Aldi sometimes) 'best of both' and it's 182 for 2 slices. Instead of an oat bar, could you have a porridge pot? I currently love the grab and go quaker ones (golden syrup flavour) and they're 213 and so filling. The ready break sachets are even less. I've switched to Lighter mayo and it's fine and half the calories, not as creamy but you get used to it. Cheese, well it's hard to resist! But the calories are so high for so little, so I've been using a really small grater to make me think I'm having more, you could also try to the low fat versions of cheese?

@OneDayIWillLearn happy birthday!

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 28/10/2024 19:38

@RainbowWife

Thank you, those are all good tips! I'm going shopping tomorrow so I'll try and stock up on some lower calorie filling stuff. I keep meaning to buy cottage cheese too, and forgetting!

breakfast:
vanilla red bush with oatly, two coffees with oatly

120

fat free yoghurt and raspberries
98

1180 (target 1600 so happy with that!)

I was up 4lbs at 12 stone 6.5lbs yesterday morning on my pre-holiday weight. Hoping some of that is water weight but it was a bit sobering!! Hoping I’m back in the groove now though. I’ve been really enjoying feeling the difference in how my clothes fit and I wore a swimming costume without thinking I looked awful last week so keen not to throw away all my good work!

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 05/11/2024 19:29

@OneDayIWillLearn Hey! Well done for getting back on track. It's not easy after a break! It's fab that your clothes are feeling better! I've not got to that point yet. The only part of me that's visibly smaller is my boobs. My tummy is as big as ever and I'm still doing the 'wriggle and breathe in' thing when getting into my jeans. I tried on last years PJs and was disheartened to find they don't fit. I did weigh myself on Sunday though and apparently I'm down to 12.3, so half a stone lost since I started. We can do this thing!!

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 05/11/2024 20:02

Tuesday 5th Nov:

Breakfast: Oat bar - 250
Juice - 100

Lunch: Flat bread - 200

Dinner: Broccoli - 50
Popcorn 'Chicken' - 200
Yoghurt - 50
Raspberries - 50

Total: 1450

Just one teeny tiny walk today, about 25 minutes

@SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter I started noticing the difference in clothes once I was about 10lbs down (and more so now I’m a stone down) so you probably aren’t far off! Half a stone lost is great 😊
