A boring thread of calorie counting/whatever accountability

AspirationalTallskinnylatte · 16/09/2024 09:22

Hi, fucking hell, I'm trying to gradually make changes and loose weight sustainably but I keep falling off the wagon to the point that I'm flat lining/ beginning to trend upwards so I'm going to try calorie counting instead for a while while I get back down. Threads like this have helped me in the past, but I'll probably only post weight I what I've eaten - anyone want to join & encourage each other?
I'm 5 foot 10, 88kg and would like as a first goal to eat 1500 -1600 calories a day and get down to 85kg before Christmas, with a longer term goal of getting to 80kg and possibly staying there, possibly getting to 75 (which is actually a healthy weight for me.

Friday 4th October:

Breakfast: Juice - 50
Oat bar - 250

Lunch: 2 x herb pastries - 200
Smoked houmous - 200
Cucumber - negligible

Dinner: Risotto - 500
Banana - 100
Yoghurt - 100
Cake bar - 100

Total: 1500

I don't mind going a bit over today because I've had 2 walks, around 40 minutes each.

I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow. Any suggestions for really quick and easy (pref instant!) vegetarian meals, filling but low in cals?

RainbowWife · 05/10/2024 11:11

@SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter my quickest vegetarian meal is couscous (Ainsley Harriet's Spice Sensation is the BEST out of a packet ever) with diced peppers, cherry tomatoes, and feta cheese. YUM!

Also sweet potatoes with rocket or spinach, beetroot and feta. I have this a lot!

RainbowWife · 05/10/2024 11:13

Ok, more than I'd like, but I have done A LOT of walking today (around 2hr 40mins)

I weighed myself and I'm 12.9, so I've lost a pound. Disappointed it's not more, but not surprised.

How's everyone else doing? Still on track?

afrikat · 06/10/2024 20:38

Sunday 6 October

Hey @SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter well done for keeping at it!
As you can probably tell by the radio silence I've not been doing that well. I'm resetting today be doing a fast didn't eat until 1 and had under 500 calories.

Keep posting even when you slip up! I have even when I've gone over 2000cals. Seeing it written down kind of helps to bring it home to you I think. Lots of luck - it is so hard isn't it?!

Sorry I've disappeared, had a crazy few days but mostly stuck to my limits, except Saturday where we went out to a world buffet type place and I reckon I went about 5,000 over 😁but we move onwards! Still find this thread very helpful so will carry on.

@SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter you're so right, to just keep writing it down even when you go over.

RainbowWife · 09/10/2024 21:19

Today I've had;

B: Coffee with oat milk, then went out for breakfast with a friend so had a morning roll with Lorne sausage and a cup of tea - 452

L: Ham and beetroot wrap (this was crap, do not recommend) - 262

D: Chicken curry with sultana rice- this was a gusto meal, I don't usually go over 600 when I pick them, but I forgot to pick my own this week so was sent random stuff- 726

S: Half a pack of chocolate puds (206), candy floss grapes (58) and 1 date (26).

-87. Oops! Going out for breakfast, and having a higher calorie dinner didn't help.... nah who am I kidding, it was the irresistible chocolate puds! Those pesky gorgeous bags!

Juice - 100

Dinner: Vegetable stew - 400
Yoghurt - 100

I've gone down with a sudden and hideous virus. I'm feeling so rough. My throat has swollen up so swallowing anything solid is hard so I should imagine it'll be a diet of smoothies and soup this coming week! Good for the diet I guess! Unfortunately someone's pulled the plug out on my energy and I've done absolutely nothing today but lie in bed. Nothing.

RainbowWife · 12/10/2024 09:35

Poor you, @SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter rest up!

Yesterday I had;

B: Belvita breakfast biscuits - 204

L: Ham sandwich - 310

D: Mcdonalds! Large fries and 6 nuggets - 706

S: 1 date (26).

397 left. BUT it was because I was feeling really sickly and didn't have much of an appetite, so no snacks. As you've seen on here I usually am a snacking monster.

AspirationalTallskinnylatte · 12/10/2024 10:16

Get well soon @SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter
What works really well for me (aside from lots of rest and anadin) is the following recipe either diluted with more hot water as a soothing drink or as a throat soothing medicine:
Squeeze half a lemon, peel and prick a little bit of ginger, two tablespoons of honey and mix with boiling water. Fiery sweet and soothing.

Yesterday I had:
B. Toast with butter and honey
L. Toasted Ciabatta with coleslaw, spinach, chicken and cheese
D. Homemade roasted squash soup, handful of nuts
Second dinner (!). Jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. More nuts and dried fruit.

Works out to about 1700 again which I'm pretty happy with, I avoided eating rubbish at a PTA event and the nuts and dried fruit were a gift from a former student so came with some added happiness 😊

Breakfast: Lemon honey drink - 100
Juice - 100
Porridge - 200

Lunch: Soup - 150

Dinner: Risotto - 400

Just one little walk today, about 25 minutes.

I weighed myself and I'm down 2lbs, so now 12.7 . I know that's not bad for a week of dieting, but I'm actually pretty gutted it's not more after the last few days of not eating much, and a lot of exercise earlier in the week. Every little helps though I suppose!
