Following on from LOSE IT! Awesome August

Drum roll please! Now it’s the time for an Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am idling around 9st 4lbs after having been hovering around 8st 12lb for several months. TIME FOR ACTION and get back on it! 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Not too bad a day, had some birthday cake and DS kindly gave me some of the chocolates he was given yesterday (and I didn’t want to say no to him) but my falafel salad with yoghurt and chicken in a creamy leek sauce with veg for dinner wasn’t too bad. Also got up to lift some weights for half an hour this morning. No walk though, will try again tomorrow.

Rewis · 09/09/2024 22:45

Start over september indeed. Now I really need to do something. Hated my holiday pics and hate trying to fit into jeans.

I signed up to my gyms 6 week small group programme. Hope the others are not young, hot and skinny. Kinda kidding, kinda not. Starts tomorrow if I get in. Signed up today so we will see.

No buying candy home, no take away, not buying fizzy drinks home. Will start eating breakfast. Will get properly sweaty from exercising once a week. Would love to finish my c25k but my achiles tendon is killing me on hard surfaces.

Made lunch at home today. Coronation chicken sweet potatoes. I thought it was weirdly bland and crap. Did not enjoy it. Realised I forgot to add curry to the coronation chicken. So things are going great!

PatienceOfEngels · 10/09/2024 07:09

@Fellsbells I do tend to make a cake once a week (would rather do that than buy something from the supermarket) but you're right about sometimes not noticing how much I've had till it's past my lips! I made banana bread Sunday and it was gone by yesterday evening (between the 4 of us).

Still not sure what to have for dinner tonight...maybe a nice chicken curry?

Yoga done.
Egg and toast for breakfast. Will get some leek and potato soup out of the freezer for lunch.
Will make time for a walk this evening as have lots of errands/house jobs to get done today.

PatienceOfEngels · 10/09/2024 07:11

Meant to say, scales are not really shifting at the moment, though I notice the difference in how I feel about myself physically and emotionally when I'm eating better, getting outside for steps/cycling and doing daily yoga. Trying to focus on this rather than the scales atm. The biggest thing I still struggle with is no eating in the evening. I'm not bingeing on junk but still often having unsalted nuts, chunks of cheese when I'm not even hungry! Need to set my tea mug out in the kitchen with herbal tea after dinner to remind me not to snack.

Fellsbells · 10/09/2024 08:41

Evening eating is lethal. If I start I find it hard to stop. I try not to go back down to the kitchen after I’ve put the DC to bed. Also I brush my teeth early so I’d have to do that again if I ate.

HomemadeHallie · 10/09/2024 09:50

I just bought a pumpkin spice latte on autopilot through drive thru on my way to work. If I do get takeout coffee I usually just go for a skinny latte but the autumn menu caught me off guard and she asked me quickly what I wanted, I was pressured!!

once I recovered from the shock of the price I then had a heart attack when I realised how many calories I’d just drank!

what a waste!!! Lesson learnt there.

FunkyFlamingoRingx · 10/09/2024 17:02

Boxing training is a fab idea. I can get a bit bored of regular workouts.. be good to let off some steam brought on by my DH 😅😂

RedBlackBlue · 10/09/2024 19:07

Evening everyone. Just checking back in after a slightly off the wagon weekend.

Not expecting much for WOW tomorrow but I am back on track now. Just back from my gym class. She made us run outside for 6 minutes then come back in to do more exercise. I haven't ran since I was at school. I did more of a jog/fast walk but my body is still in shock 😂

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/09/2024 19:16

Good day today, did my first strength class in weeks! A bit back to the start weights wise, but I did it, so that’s what counts.

food wise

B - boiled egg & toast
L - home made lentil soup, satsuma, quavers, small portion of chicken to up the protein
D - green lentils with carrots & pork, steamed green beans.

no snacks so far, but I will have a little something later.

Bracing myself for WOW tomorrow, but it has to be done. The upcoming weekend will be calorific (away, staying with friends) but I’m determined to be good either side of the weekend and get plenty of exercise in.

PatienceOfEngels · 11/09/2024 07:03

Wow -0.5kg! Though as I said the other day my weight is fluctuating daily atm.

SW 77kg Oct 23/79kg Aug 22
CW 72.4kg
GW 68kg (I was very close to this in Feb but put a lot back on Spring/summer)

Yesterday I made this cake - not very diet friendly, very sweet but the kids loved it! Have put a third of it in the freezer and the other third is in the fridge for tonight.

I managed not to eat last night in front of the TV even though DH asked me if I wanted something.

Plan for today:
-boiled egg, rye toast with humous, coffee
-fruit/veg plate
-lunch provided by work so probably a fancy roll of some description
-speculoos cake
-leek and potato soup with bread

A bit more bread than I would usually have in one day.

Was chucking it down this morning so did yoga inside - not quite as zen, especially when everyone else is getting up!

Speculoos biscuit cake recipe

Speculoos biscuit cake recipe

This speculoos-flavoured cake is also sandwiched and topped with a biscoff buttercream to make a truly delicious treat that goes well with coffee.

Fellsbells · 11/09/2024 07:23

Great job @PatienceOfEngels

static for me, but I did eat 2 scones and a brownie yesterday that I’d baked so it’s no surprise the scales haven’t gone down.

OneDayIWillLearn · 11/09/2024 08:13

12 stone 7 3/4 lbs on the scale this morning!

last week I’d just come off a two week holiday/ away/ very off track couple of weeks and was 12 stone 11lbs so I’m delighted to be back at my pre summer hols weight now as that was my first mini target.

my next focus is my birthday which is the last week of October. Ideally I’d be in the 11 stone something bracket by then but I’d settle for low 12s.

i stumbled across a list: mindmap in a notebook that I’d done back in June yesterday, an exercise (from the Last Diet) where You imagine a point in the near future and think about what it will be like a) if you don’t change and b) if you do change. I’d forgotten I’d done it in relation to mid September and I’m here now!! It was really gratifying to see that I was living in the world I’d imagined if I did manage to make and sustain a change rather than the world I imagined if I didn’t.

I think the thing that has made the biggest difference is challenging my ‘all or nothing’ thinking (usually along the lines of ‘you’ve blown it now’, ‘no point even trying’) and getting back into good habits whenever possible, at the next meal, just for a few days etc even when there is a lot to derail me.

Lovehappychildren · 11/09/2024 08:38

Can I join please? I am very overweight, so putting my goal weight in stages. I am doing Nutracheck but finding it hard not to cheat and need to be accountable for this, so will check in here. In all honesty, I have multiple work and personal events over the next couple of weeks so hoping to maintain rather than lose. I lost 7lb before the school holidays but would like to lose 2 stone before Easter for our holiday.

CW 18 stone 2lb
GW 16 stone

Do you guys check in on a particular day? I find Friday works for me.

LemonDrizzle23 · 11/09/2024 09:18

Morning everyone, and welcome new joiners!
@Lovehappychildren lots of us "weigh on Wednesdays" - today is WOW day! But there are many people weighing on other days. Do what works for you.

Well done WOW crowd! It's stay the same for me this week, which is fair as it's been a food filled week 😬 Once again this week we don't have an entirely functioning kitchen as I'm doing the (hopefully!) last bit of decorating. Getting a bit fed up with it all now, but should be worth it to have it finished.

I am however back to the gym since school went back. So that's definitely a positive.

IDareSay · 11/09/2024 09:55

Goal for September is continue with free weights and lose 2kg.

0.8kg down on WOW (1.5 lbs) so on track for 2kg target this month: 69.5kg to 67.5kg by 30/09

SW: 72.5kg (11st 6lbs)
CW: 68.7kg (10st 11.5lbs)
GW: 57kg (9st)

My new kettlebells were delivered this morning. DH saw the parcel on the step, bent down to pick it up (not realising it was heavy), and nearly fell out of the back door 😆

Caeneus · 11/09/2024 10:14

SW: 11st 5
CW: 11st 3
GW: 10st 5

2lbs in my first week 👍🏻 Motivation is still high to keep it going. It’s usually around week 3 or 4 when I’ve seen some progress and I decide to relax and it all goes wrong 🙄

Skyglimmer · 11/09/2024 10:41

Well done everyone. I am sticking to my weigh in on Sundays but will update.

RedBlackBlue · 11/09/2024 10:50

So a maintain for me for WOW. I'm pleased with that to be fair.
Start of a new week, and a new focus.

SkyeBlue28 · 11/09/2024 11:00

It’s great to see all the weigh in’s and progress being made.

Here is mine

SW: 10st 1lb
CW: 9st 10lb
GW: 9st 7lb

I was pleasantly surprised to see a loss of 2 and a quarter lbs this week because even though my plan is going very well I’m not seeing it yet. I still feel like my bum and thighs are huge.

I read something inspirational a few years ago and wrote it in my notebook but I can’t remember where it’s from.

In two weeks you’ll feel it
In four weeks you’ll see it
In eight weeks you’ll hear it

The hearing it would be compliments and people noticing a change and telling you.

I’m three weeks in and while I definitely don’t see any change I feel so much happier in myself. Eating healthier and exercising more is making me feel so much more energised. My mood has really improved so hopefully soon I’ll see it and will be brave enough to try on my jeans that had gotten too tight.

Lem0nTang0 · 11/09/2024 13:11

no change this week cheeky number keeps flicking between 12 and 11 lbs and settling on 12! been a difficult week with family emergencies, and a day out with restaurant food at the weekend so happy that I have maintained hoping for a 11 or lower at the end of my number next week

SW - 15.11
CW - 14.12
GW - 11

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 11/09/2024 13:15

I’m eating a bit healthier and walked 7km yesterday.

SW: 13 stone 10lb
CW: 13 stone 9lb
GW: 10 stone ideally but will settle for 11 or 12 stone.

Dinner last night a Weightwatchers turkey lasagne. I didn’t follow it entirely but it was very tasty and turkey is low fat. I had a normal portion froze the rest and will have 2 other portions with rocket leaves for dinners.

Breakfast: 20g Rude Health with 80g blueberries and skimmed milk
Lunch: Knorr spring vegetable soup with 2 rye Ryvita and pro activ spread plus cucumber 🥒 batons
snacks: large handful of Tesco cheese savouries and nature valley crunchy oats and honey bars x 4 (2 in each pack) and slice coffee walnut cake. 2 apricots

No idea about dinner yet.

exercise hopefully 30 minutes lap of walking.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 11/09/2024 13:32

Tomorrow I plan to walk 1 hour 50 mins to my book club in the evening. I’m getting an Uber or train/bus back. I do drive but don’t like driving much in the evenings to areas I don’t know and especially if I have a drink which I will have.

I mentioned the walk to my mum by text or when I rang her and she immediately went into drama mother scene. You’d think I was 15 rather than 53!

@PatienceOfEngels your Speculoos cake looks yummy! You seem to be doing really well.

The others seem to be doing well with WiW (weigh in Wednesdays).

@SkyeBlue28 i agree with you, motivational quotes can be really good. A friend who’s doing keto is putting photos inside her fridge door to encourage her.

I was given a free one month gym membership but I don’t really like gyms, I don’t mind classes and like swimming. I sul use it as it does encompass classes and swimming and sauna and steam.

TheRealHousewife · 11/09/2024 14:36

Afternoon All … apologies foe being late to the WOW party!

WOW - 9st on the nose. That makes a few lbs lost which I’m pleased about.

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made quiche and side salad. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Roast chicken and vegetables. Walnuts 1/2 apple.
Tea, black coffee & water.

You ladies are making great progress! Well done! 👏👏👏

If people aren’t making as much progress as they’d like just keep going! It will happen!

Quick visit as I have to leave for an appointment.
