Moving on from Wegovy

I've lost 4 and a half stone on wegovy. I've gone from an obese BMI to BMI of 21. I'm so happy. It took me a year. So now I'm going to taper down and stop. Has anyone else stopped yet? I'm going to keep up the calorie counting and exercise of course to keep the weight off.

Well done!! I am 24.9 and 69kg still but DP took me out for dinner last night to celebrate and I felt very bad about making good choices annoyingly he kept saying ‘let’s have a night off’ I hate it when he does that on my behalf. I had a steak and new potatoes then half of a desert of chocolate ice cream. I will just try to work out a bit extra this weekend!

Candyfloss99 · 05/07/2024 10:45

No I don't tell anyone I lost weight via Wegovy because it gave me bad stomach pain and I don't want the judgements. I just told them I ate less which is true really!!

1.8lbs off for me this week means my BMI is now 24.7, finally the green zone 😁

SW: 13st 7.8
CW: 10st 4.4
Lost: 45.4lbs

I might lose another 5lbs as a bit of a buffer before I start trying to maintain.

Huge congratulations 👏🏾 🎉 👏🏾 🎉 👏🏾 🎉
Such a great feeling when you get into your healthy BMI!

Tindrum · 06/07/2024 07:13

🎉🎉🎉🎉 so pleased for you @AhBiscuits

Menora · 06/07/2024 08:05

got the same BMI this morning @AhBiscuits ☺️ 24.7! I’m still 10st 11 though 😂

NutellaWithEverything · 09/07/2024 05:45

Can I ask please, after being on wegoby for a few months (reached 1mg max) I took a 2 month break due to funds. Just went back on it (1mg) but I have such headaches that I am wondering if I should have returned to .025. Any advice?

AhBiscuits · 09/07/2024 06:44

Yes, you definitely should have gone back to 0.25. You're supposed to for any break longer than 2 weeks. I would expect it to make you quit sick jumping straight to 1mg.

NutellaWithEverything · 09/07/2024 07:00

God that was so stupid of me. I've now injected twice. Should I try an order .25 and build up again, and save the 2 I have left of 1 for later?

Lovesthebeach · 09/07/2024 08:29

@AhBiscuits 🎉🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳 congratulations for meeting your goal! We started at a similar time/weight etc so I feel like I’ve been invested in your journey! Amazing!

Lovesthebeach · 09/07/2024 08:31

Hi everyone, just checking in. I’ve been off the medication for a good few weeks now and am maintaining my weight loss.
struggling a bit with the sweet cravings but so far so good!
I do miss that feeling wegovy gives you of not being hungry though!
it’s so lovely to be on this thread and see everybody still doing so well.

Can I ask if you think if you had done the calorie counting and exercise without the , you would still have lost the weight?

I think if you've injected twice and aren't feeling too horrific I'd just carry on.

AhBiscuits · 09/07/2024 09:59

Good to hear from you@Lovesthebeach and glad to hear maintenance is going well.

I've got a heavy week socially and away at the weekend again so will need to just try and make good choices and get straight back on track ASAP. DH and I have tickets for the Wimbledon quarter finals tomorrow and he wants to take champagne and a picnic. His parents are doing all the childcare stuff. It's a once in a blue moon day together and will be nice to make the most of it.

Oh goodness me no. I'd tried one hundred times before with no success without Wegovy so I know I'd never have done it unfortunately.

Thanks for replying.
I'm wondering about taking it for a little while. Is that possible?

How long has it taken? If you don't mind me asking...

I've lost 45lbs in 34 weeks. So not quick, but consistent. I didn't plateau at all, my weight just gradually crept down.

Menora · 09/07/2024 21:53

Mine took a lot longer cos I did it off Ozempic for longer than I was on it and had more to lose. Over 60 weeks so far, 65lbs.

I have discovered my all time favourite lunch/dinner - a naked (no bread) smashed burger. Either a chicken or turkey burger or meatballs. Little bit of cheese. Gerkins. Mustard. Ketchup. Salad. Mix it all up. I’ve eaten it every day for a week now 😂

I took it for a year. I don't take it anymore and haven't for months and have kept the weight off. So it's very possible.

I’m now bobbing around in the 68kg bracket 😂

so close but yet so far! Holiday soon

I would like to aim to only go up to 71kg max on this trip, I accept there will be some gain even if temporary but would be annoying to have a massive set back. It’s a family holiday so won’t be a lot of drinking alcohol but it could be a lot of food. I’ve already asked DP if we can agree that we are not eating takeout or fast food every day. Once in a while is fine but I would like to eat the local food and try new things rather than just going to places that serve junk food. Part of our trip is self catering so this will be easier for me. He says he agrees but let’s see 😂 he is a sucker for junk food. He has lost about 15kg for this holiday which I am proud of. He gains all his weight on his stomach and it really was getting in the way of everything even hugging it got so big and nothing fit him. I really don’t want him to put it all back on

AhBiscuits · 10/07/2024 09:09

That sounds like a good and realistic aim @Menora
It's a shame that holidays come with this slight worry isn't it?

In the next month I have two weekends away then off on holiday for a week.I'll try and make good choices where possible, not eat stacks just for the sake of it and then address any gain promptly upon my return. I don't snack at all anymore and I'll try and continue that even when away.

Hi all, good to catch up.
I'm still on 1,7 and at 16 months in but getting ready to stop,
I've lost nearly 5 st, from a dress size 18/20 to a 10. BMI now just over 21. My method was an extreme, organised calorie deficit tracking everything because I wanted to make the most of the investment.
At about 4 lbs from what I thought was my target I was feeling scrawny (something I'd never thought I'd say) so for the past month or so I've decided I'm in maintenance and eased up on the tracking + had more carbs. I know my TDEE now and I thought I had been more or less on it, but damn, maintenance is hard.

I've just gained 2lbs in 20 days and I KNOW it's no big deal, it's carb weight + not tracking religiously, but it still 270 kcal over, per day. It sort of pisses me off that this is the way it has to be now. I really don't want to lead an 'all or nothing' existence but I'm so small now and my TDEE so low that it sort of... has to be 'nothing'. Or at least being very aware and organised around my choices. Oh well. I know it's worth it and I have to accept this new attitude, just needed a rant. Sorry!

MadameMassiveSalad · 10/07/2024 16:24

@AhBiscuits seems like a healthy pace. Well done!

I hear you, maintenance is hard!!!! I'm currently on holiday and I'm on only 0.25mg as it's making me really ill after loosing 5&half stones and I'm stressed because the hunger is really coming back so sticking to like 1300 a day is pretty hard! I need to exercise way more and build muscle to maintain this weight.

Yep maintenance is hard but I've worked my way up to 2000 calories a day and maintaining so it's a lot easier when you've built up calories and incorporated exercise.
