It's tricky @tinker2190
I think you should stick with it for a bit longer if you can manage it. The side effects lessen over time. You can always stay on 0.25 longer than a month if necessary, or even take a half dose next time and build even slower. Although some people (I think about 5%) react too strongly to the drug to be able to continue. Most people don't only lose weight on it because they feel so awful, that's no way to live.

@AhBiscuits Well done on another great loss, you'll be at goal in no time.
What are your plans once you're there, are you going to keep on with Wegovy or come off?

I can't afford to do it long term, I'd planned to do 6 months but might push it to 8 depending on my weight, I don't have to pay council tax in February and March so I'm classing that as 2 free months worth of jabs 😄

AhBiscuits · 09/02/2024 16:12

Thanks 😊

I don't intend to stay on it once I'm at or near my goal. It's a lot of money and I'm going to have to go it alone some time. I'm trying to get into a good healthy routine now, which I'll try to maintain. Stuff like no snacking, no longer treating every weekend like Christmas, exercising regularly.

Is anyone else a really slow loser? I started on 8th Jan and am on 0.5mg now. I'm bouncing around a 4.5lb/5lb loss in 5 weeks. I cannot seem to lose any more than that though despite only eating between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. I know it's a marathon not a sprint but it's a very expensive way to lose weight.

whoathisisheavy · 09/02/2024 19:19

@Pushkinini this feels like me too! I started on Jan 18th so will be moving up to 0.5 next week. I've lost less than 4lbs despite eating less and moving more. It is frustrating isn't it?! Previous posters have advised it might take higher doses to see bigger losses so, for now, I'll just keep on keeping on.

Helene2019 · 09/02/2024 19:33

@Pushkinini my weekly losses have ranged from 0.5-2lbs a week depending on time of the month and constipation side effects. I average between 1200-1400 calories a day when I do log it, but I don't calorie count and am doing no exercise beyond my normal day to day chores etc.

AhBiscuits · 09/02/2024 19:49

My losses have been small but consistent. It quickly adds up. With other diets I'd have got bored and quit weeks ago.

I completely agree @AhBiscuits I don't feel any pressure whatsoever like with other diets or exercise programmes. I also feel no guilt or binge risk if I eat a chocolate bar or slice of cake - I still lose a small amount of weight each week because net I'm eating healthy choices and a sensible amount of calories.

Flatleak · 09/02/2024 20:52

Im getting really down with how unhealthy this is making me. I can't get my 5 a day in or even good nutrients, because of low appetite. I can't even keep hydrated as my stomach feels horrible when full of water. And that's before you account for 3 months of constipation.

I'm supposed to go up to 1.7mg and can't face it.

Pushkinini · 09/02/2024 21:00

Hopefully my weight loss will begin to accelerate soon. I've also got a horrible dry mouth. I drink lots of water anyway, but can't seem to get rid of it. Posters on Reddit seem to suggest electrolytes might help. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hopthegoodgod · 09/02/2024 21:16

Exactly the same. 5 lbs since beginning of January. Given all the hype around the product , its been a disappointing start. Wouldn't say its stopped me feeling hungry. Been on .5 for three doses now. Hope something really starts to happen soon. No side effects as yet.

@Flatleak I ended up doing 2 months on 1mg because of side effects. I would recommend if you are struggling with side effects to stick to 1 mg for an extra month and see how you go. You can stay on a dose if it is still working or if you have side effects, you don't have to go up.

Re food: try really plain and bland to over come the nausea. Potato/sweet potato mashed, I once had had a portion of boiled rice with soy sauce for dinner(!), porridge too is non nausea triggering simple veg like cucumber, lettuce, grated carrot, melons and grapes I do well with these with plain white baked fish or baked chicken hence why I go for salads at lunch time especially when I go up a dose. But the portion size is small for everything, I can't eat anywhere near the volume I used to.

Throughout all of this after eating if I smell the leftovers on the plate it makes me nauseous, so everything has to be cleared away and put in the dishwasher etc straight away.

Helene2019 · 09/02/2024 21:41

@Flatleak also I drink loads of mint tea which really helps with nausea.

Flatleak · 09/02/2024 21:42

Thanks @Helene2019. Weirdly I don't have any nausea, just not appetite. So I can make myself eat eg. Sandwich but not a salad, as the desire for food is gone (I used to love salad!)

Helene2019 · 09/02/2024 22:12

@Flatleak I felt like that at times on 0.25 and 0.5 but sort of forced my self to eat enough. Now on 1mg I do get hunger and also desire for food but not wild cravings, I still get full very quickly so can't each much and still can't snack because of feeling full. I view it as progression to gaining control and responsibility of what I'm eating and the meds definitely help so it is working. Like @AhBiscuits my plan is to taper off (reduce dosage) a few months before approaching my goal to try and have less reliance on the meds to lose the last bit and maintain it hopefully 🤞

MorphandMindy · 10/02/2024 06:41

@Pushkinini and @Hopthegoodgod do stick with it, in my experience it doesn't come off in the same way as previous weight loss efforts. I've discussed this with other friends recently including one who has been calorie counting for his first month because he felt he wasn't seeing the drop he expected to see after previous attempts. (He was two weeks into the second month and that's when he said he started to really feel it becoming easier.)

Other times I've lost weight I've had a large initial/water weight drop and then a bit of a plateau, and it slows right down to a more gradual loss that you have to keep chipping away at. With this, the initial (expected) big drop just wasn't there. But I am starting week 13 now and the streak hasn't slowed down. I've been losing a very steady 1-2lbs a week for the entire time - my graph is showing a very consistent gradient. I've passed the part where I always plateau and kept losing with relative ease. So if you're losing a little bit but steadily, stick with that and keep going.

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/02/2024 07:49

Today is the end of week 9 for me, started 9th December. I’ve lost 17lbs so far, second dose of 1.0 today. I’ve found this dose has really curbed my appetite. I was a bit worried about side effects on this dose but it has been minimal. I’ve upped my water intake though so I think that has helped. There is a shortage of 1.7 at the moment but I plan to stay on 1.0 if it’s working.

Moirarosesgarden · 10/02/2024 08:28

Good to see some strong results!

I’m 5.5 weeks in and down 10 pounds, so losing at a nice rate overall. Starting weight was 15s 7 and I lost about 8 of that in the first 2/3 weeks so has been slower since which is to be expected.

Had my second 0.5 dose this week and still not really had any side effects apart from being quite burby (but not sulphur burps!).

Definitely snacking less and make sure I have smaller portions of dinner etc rather than piling it all on. Hopefully that continues! I’ll be happy with 1-2 pounds a week.

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/02/2024 08:57

@Moirarosesgarden I found I stalled a bit on 0.5, lost 9.5 on 0.25 then only 5.5 on 0.5 but it’s picked up again on 1.0. I think if it’s steadily going down that’s good.

Flatleak · 10/02/2024 09:13

End of week 12 for me and I'm down 24 pounds.

Very happy to have lost 4 pounds this week as I only lots 1 pound each the two weeks before - it's true when people tell you it evens out!

After posting yesterday that I'm struggling with lack of nutrition I think I'll stay on 1mg and try to work out how to get my fluid rates up when my stomach doesn't like being full even with liquid (tips gratefully received!)

Lovesthebeach · 10/02/2024 10:43

@Gingerlygreen and @AhBiscuits fantastic losses! It’s soo encouraging when all the looses keep adding up!

@Pushkinini i defo have a dry mouth sometimes.. more noticeable on injection day and day after….

@Flatleak also an amazing loss! Well done!! Defo stay on 1.0 if it’s working for you?

@PurpleFlower1983 brilliant loss! I think there is/will be a few of us that stay on 1.0 for a bit longer!

AhBiscuits · 10/02/2024 10:50

I'll be on 1mg for at least another 5 weeks. I have 1mg left in my pen and have another waiting.

I need to find time to have a big clothes trying on session. I have a lot of stuff that I stopped wearing because it was too tight that will fit now.

OP posts:
MorphandMindy · 10/02/2024 12:08

What a great result @AhBiscuits !

I also need a bit of a wardrobe revamp. I wore leggings this week and I had to keep hiking them up. (This is not a problem I've had for a very long time!) What's even worse is finding my bra gaping... 😲

But I'm also afraid to trust the weight loss so I don't want to spend any more money just yet! There's a reason my smaller size clothes I've bought on occasion are still immaculate...

AhBiscuits · 10/02/2024 13:40

Just met a relative for lunch at a really gross chain pub. Basically no options that were lower calorie. Literally the only thing under 1000 was veggie lasagne, which is what I had with coke zero. Before I would have had that 1600 calorie chicken burger and a pint of cider. Even the thought of it makes me feel ill.

Hi all, thought I would join.

I ordered with asda and they got delivered today. I already took my first does so hope it goes well.

I might have done the first injection wrong but hopefully I got enough dose. I missed the part where it said keep holding the button in for 6 seconds after it got to 0. So will pay more attention next week!

I think my SW is about 16st 6lbs. I am 5"8.

Good luck everyone :)
