@Gingerlygreen i felt so much better after reading that as I had the same “panic” convinced I was allergic for 30 mins after but it’s been 3 hours now and I’ve calmed myself down - I wonder how soon you felt any results?

I felt the effects within a few hours, I did the shot at about 11am then by 5pm when I usually have dinner I couldn't face anything.
Some people don't notice any effects until they're on the higher doses though so try not to worry if you don't feel much different.

Gingerlygreen · 07/02/2024 17:27

Big welcome to all the new guys.

I haven't been to the toilet all week which is unusual for me because it usually affects me the other way, I'm due to do my monthly weigh tomorrow so obviously want to be as light as possible and had a Slimatee to get things moving and have spent a fair amount of time on the toilet this morning! Sorry for the over share.

I'd rather that than end up impacted though and I feel so much better to get rid of the bloat.

One thing that's getting me a bit down is that I'm not enjoying the food I eat any more and do miss it, I don't miss the junk food but I do miss cooking and really enjoying the taste of a nice dinner.
I've thrown so much food away lately because a few mouthfuls in and I'm not hungry or enjoying the taste.
I've tried all my favourites such as curry, roast chicken dinner and today had an omelette and salad and 2/3 of it is in either the dog or the bin.

Does anyone else feel the same? I'm loving the lack of food noise and the weight loss but do feel like I've lost a part of my life that I enjoyed.

Kelsie78 · 07/02/2024 17:53

The only thing I'm missing terribly is a lamb tikka dansak. It's my favourite thing ever to eat, but has probably helped me a long massively in gaining so much weight. I also feel slightly sad that I can't have one of them, so I do get what you mean.

Kelsie78 · 07/02/2024 17:54

Have you tried a couple of weetabix to help you go abit easier? Works for me real well!

HolidaySwears · 07/02/2024 18:06

It's been a pretty positive week this week after my earlier wobble.

I've lost 10lbs and counting, appetite hadn't totally disappeared but was certainly reduced as I stopped snacking. Very small lunch and a small dinner is enough it seems with a small snack between, lots and lots of water being drank.

I took my second dose this morning and holy hell the nausea hit within the hour! Still feel sick now but managed lunch. Will probably skip dinner and just have some fruit which is something I am oddly craving!!

HolidaySwears · 07/02/2024 18:10

tinker2190 · 06/02/2024 20:13

I'm so drained from nausea. I'm only on second dose of 0.25 and I've lost 8lbs. Which is great lose I know but I'm only eating to stop myself becoming unwell.

But in reality the nausea is so bad I'd be happy not to eat anything. I don't know how I'd cope with months of this.

Sounds similar to me, how was your first dose? I barely felt any symptoms but today's (second 0.25) has knocked me for six!

It feels like what I did eat to stave off nausea today is sitting in my stomach and pushing upwards, almost like it's sitting in my oesophagus if that makes any sense!

AhBiscuits · 07/02/2024 19:08

1mg is working a bit too well for me right now. Today my colleague brought in some homemade meat and vegetable thing for lunch and it smelt RANK. I'm sure it actually didn't but my Wegovy brain was like 😷It made me feel queasy all afternoon and then I couldn't eat my dinner. I picked out a couple of pieces of chicken and left the rest.

OP posts:
Annwithout · 07/02/2024 20:07

It's really not working for me again. 3rd x 1.0 on Monday but I'm still eating and fancying a glass of wine, when it never occurs to me to have a drink when it's working. I wonder why the effects are so flipping variable 🤔

anoldcharter · 07/02/2024 20:39

Took my second 0.50mg yesterday and feel so sick and lethargic today... Managed to eat about 900calories but just want to go to bed.

I feel the same @Gingerlygreen I'm a huge foodie and love cooking and baking, but just have no interest now. I felt quite sad the other day that I've lost that joy and what is a huge part of me, but it's also what's got me to this point too 😞 it's a tricky feeling to reconcile.

@Annwithout that's so annoying, hope it kicks in soon for you.

@AhBiscuits have you found yourself going off food completely because of the smell? I couldn't eat a tin of lentil and veg soup the other day after smelling it cook.
Also, just wondering whether people are counting calories to make sure they are getting enough? I'm trying to eat 1200 a day but some days I don't get to 1000 and end up eating something I don't really want to get calories in? Anyone else?

2Tired4Anything · 07/02/2024 23:46

@AhBiscuits
Haha I know the feeling! same with me yesterday, went to my mums, who makes great food but I just couldn't stand the smell/thought of the meals. Normally I struggle to resist.

@Annwithout
I think you do start to build up some tolerance, thats why many people only experience side effects in the first month. Your probably ready for the next dose.

EC22 · 07/02/2024 23:53

Finding it hard to eat in any reasonably healthy way.

Always got some lingering iffy tummy or nausea.
Anyone found a good diet plan they could share. Preferably lower carb.

AhBiscuits · 08/02/2024 06:35

@anoldcharter yes! And going through food phases. I was really enjoying a particular soup and ate it every day for a few days. I ate it on a day when I was feeling a bit iffy and now can't face it again.

Week 12 progress update.

Month 1 lost 10lbs.
Month 2 lost 10lbs.
Month 3 lost 9lbs.

Height 5'7
Start weight 16st 4
Current weight 14st 3.

I really wanted to get over the 2 stone mark this month so am very pleased, it won't be long until I'm down into the next stone bracket which I haven't seen in over 4 years.

It's been a bit of a slog mentally this month, I've had quite a few wobbles where my brain has been trying to convince me that I can do this without Wegovy and save myself £200 a month, I think that I'm used to having no food noise and am forgetting how it was to live with constant food thoughts and the cycle of sugar highs and crashes.

Seeing my progress has given me a real boost of motivation so I'm going to get the next pen ordered today and look forward to my 4th weigh in on March 7th.

anoldcharter · 08/02/2024 08:23

@EC22 it really depends on what you can stomach but I have been living off blueberries, crumpets with lemon curd, chicken noodle soup and chicken or tuna on rice cakes, high protein ready meals with extra vegetables. So not that great really but I'm trying to get used to eating 1200 calories a day in anticipation of changing habits when I stop wegovy. I always feel better when I've had a bit more protein.

Wow @Gingerlygreen that weight loss is awesome

Lou4564 · 08/02/2024 11:11

@Gingerlygreen that gives me motivation - amazing results. I started 0.25 yesterday zero food noise it's so interesting. Constipation today tho and very slight nausea - any advice?

tinker2190 · 08/02/2024 16:18

I am not sure how I can continue. Week 2 of 0.25 dose. Nausea is so bad I'm unable to eat anything.
Spent today at home sat over the toilet but unable to actually vomit. I just wanted a lifestyle change. The lifestyle change seems to be zero energy to exercise and spending my life sat near the toilet feeling nauseous. I have 2 doses of the 0.25 pen and not sure I can even make it through those.

Has anyone had this and it passed? I feel like I'm losing the battle.

whoathisisheavy · 08/02/2024 16:58

Feeling a bit down. Progress so far:

Starting weight 18st 10.2lbs
Week 1 -3.2lbs
Week 2 +.4lbs
Week 3 -1lb
Current weight 18st 6.4lbs

I know it is a marathon not a sprint, it is healthier to lose slowly and steadily etc etc but I'm moving more and eating less so I don't understand why I'm not losing more. It is just a bit disheartening and £50 per lb is eye watering. Moving up to the .5 pen next week so hopefully things will start to improve as I work my way up through the doses, as previous posters mentioned.

Normally I'd hit the Dairy Milk out of frustration but I'm doing my best to resist the temptation so I'm a mardy arse and difficult to live with.

AhBiscuits · 08/02/2024 19:05

Gosh, the side effects vary so much from person to person don't they?

FWIW, I definitely had spells during my first 6 weeks when I questioned whether it was worth feeling so awful all the time. 12 weeks in and I never feel that bad. A bit of queasiness here and there, never enough to stop me doing anything. I enjoy my food, but can't eat a lot of it and don't snack. I never feel particularly hungry, there's no food noise.

I think if you're on either end of the symptoms scale, try and stick with it if you can. The drug builds in your system, so those having little appetite suppression will get some eventually and those suffering awful side effects will find that their body adapts and starts to tolerate the drug. It's not for the faint hearted, but once you hit that sweet spot of suppression while feeling OK, it's amazing.

I have to say I feel a bit more in control this week. I’m on my second dose of 0.5 and haven’t had the crippling abdominal pain I’ve had for a few days each week. I’m definitely eating less than normal and I’m trying to be more careful (mainly because I’m terrified of the gut ache coming back!).

I’ve lost 9lbs so far in 5 weeks, which I’m ok about. I’ve always been a tortoise rather than a hare when it comes to weight loss. I’m off to London for a few days over half-term so I’m going to delay my 3rd jab by a few days so I don’t get too many symptoms while I’m away.

I would say that during the 2 days of absolute agony each week I’ve wanted to give up, but once I’ve got through them I’ve felt more able to stick it out.

It sounds like it's working well for you if you've lost the food noise and only having mild symptoms.

I can't really give advice about the constipation sorry as I'm usually affected the other way and am very loose, I did get it this week though so had a Slimatee and that worked.

With the nausea unless it's debilitating I'd say to just get on with your day and ignore it, I've found that I feel a bit queasy for the first couple of days and then it wears off until the next jab.

AhBiscuits · 09/02/2024 07:40

Another 2lbs off for me this week.

SW: 13st 7.8
CW: 11st 12.8
GW: 10st 6
23lbs lost in 12 weeks
21lbs to go

New stone bracket and over halfway.
It is half term this week though and we're quite busy with plans. I'm bound to eat more than usual but we shall see.

@Gingerlygreen started on Wed and minimal side effects and no appetite only thing is my mood is a little more irritable. So glad your journey is working well because I Weighed myself officially today as I have been avoiding it for a while but needed to so I can monitor my progress and was the heaviest I've ever been which has totally knocked me today it shocked me a little didnt think it was quite that bad- but at least I've started. @AhBiscuits also giving me lots of motivation well done

Helene2019 · 09/02/2024 10:44

Well-done @AhBiscuits reaching the half way point is such a huge milestone!

I'm BMI 29.7 slowly creeping on. Still can't actually believe I broke the BMI 30 barrier! Big changes in appearance are now apparent. My once apple shape now has a bit of a waist and it is noticeable that I have lost on my belly area as it doesn't stick out so much now. I wish I had taken waist and hip measurements at the begining to track progress.

I also dug out some old clothes this week and was pleased to find I can comfortably fit into size 16 trousers and dresses now. I was not fitting into the size 18 stretchy trousers I was wearing when I started. Realistically I was probably a size 20 or possibly more because I had my head in the sand about my size so just lived in stretchy house clothes (joggers, leggings, tunic dresses). I'm very pleased with my slow and steady progress. For those starting out and disappointed with slow progress....I'm definitely a slower loser than most - but I've lost more than 2 dress sizes in 3.5 months so don't give up, stick with it and you will see the changes over a longer time.

tinker2190 · 09/02/2024 10:51

The nausea has eased a little this morning. I'm due an injection tomorrow which I'm still undecided on taking.

SW: 13.12
CW: 13.2

That's 10lbs lost in less than 2 weeks. At the moment I just feel the medications making me too unwell to eat or change my eating habits. Rather than just aiding weight loss and getting rid of the 'food noise' I feel unwell.

AhBiscuits · 09/02/2024 11:06

That's great @Helene2019
Definitely worth getting the tape measure out now to track further progress. Take photos too. I've lost 16cm from my waist so far. I was definitely squeezing into too small clothes for a long time, it's lovely that things actually fit now :)
