⭐️Open to previous members as well as new members⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

@TheRealHousewife have you sent your spider to me? I ate some chocolate yesterday and didn’t enjoy it at all 😯

Beginningless · 14/04/2023 08:57

Ooh I’d like a wee join to a thread like this if that’s ok, any motivational help is welcome! I’ve restarted WW/IF this week after losing weight last yr and falling off wagon during winter. So far I’m cutting what I eat a bit but mainly just getting my head around again how calorific simple things are and noticing that. Main thing is stopping snacking in the evening, that had become a seriously bad habit. So I’ve had herbal tea the last few nights, am chuffed I’ve managed to start. Sometimes just getting into that headspace is so challenging.

TheRealHousewife · 14/04/2023 09:02

Hahaha @Lionnose The spider might have wandered over 😬 👍

Welcome the the thread @Beginningless Well done on getting back on it. One thing that helps with evening snacking is having an eating window that intermittent fasting creates and also making a point of cleaning and closing the kitchen after your last meal 👍

Morning!

Inflatables weren't on water, thankfully, and it was a beautiful day here - as is today. Off to meet my work bestie in our fave café in the West End this afternoon- will try and stay away from danger foods!

Had kedgeree for dinner last night. Not made it in ages and had forgotten how lovely it is. It's very protein rich with the fish and eggs and was incredibly filling- so much so that I'm still full this morning.

Have a big birthday party tomorrow night for a great friend. Intend to dance a lot and avoid the buffet for sure.

Have a great and positive weekend everyone.

AutisticLegoLover · 14/04/2023 10:29

Morning all. 57.65kg this morning thanks to all that salty stuff. Last night I added up what I ate yesterday and was horrified. 2651 calories eating what many much eat fairly regularly and I certainly ne er have any thought to before. However I don't live near a McDonald's or Starbucks so this would have only been possible a handful of times a year.

Breakfast: porridge as usual
Elevenses: Frappuccino and cinnamon swirl
Lunch: veggie deluxe, fries, Fanta, McFlurry (I helped ds finish his too and felt sick! )
Dinner: didn't dare eat any but had 5 M&S butter biscuits with a cup of tea.

2651 calories!!! Imagine if I'd eaten dinner too! I have been honest and put it all into mfp. It's easy to see how people become overweight when these places are so accessible generally and McDonald's is pretty cheap. Our fast food culture is appalling. The next time we are near either a Starbucks or McDonald's will be May half term and I wouldn't normally have both anyway.

Welcome new posters!

Hope everyone has a great day. It's the last day of rain here if the forecast proves correct and I'll be glad if it. We need some sunshine.

TheRealHousewife · 14/04/2023 11:31

Hi @AutisticLegoLover WOW 😮😮😮 2651 calories? Is that count for the menu you posted this morning? I agree many people will eat that many cals in a day. I’m sure any gain is temporary 🤞We have weathery rain here too. Far too cold to be considered Spring! 🥶

@Puffalicious Enjoy your day in the West End! I love London ❤️

AutisticLegoLover · 14/04/2023 11:35

Yes that's the menu I ate yesterday and the calories for everything. Scary.

Fara22 · 14/04/2023 12:45

@TheRealHousewife I missed your chocolate spider, but if he is a vicious chocolate guarding spider (?) do send him this way, as he sounds very useful!

Im also absolutely stealing that air fryer porridge pot recipe. I think we have suitable ramekins. I have issues with the normal texture of porridge, but do enjoy it "solid".

Here's hoping for a sunnier weekend!

ImALittlePea · 14/04/2023 13:09

Afternoon all! Thread moving super fast as always!

High fiving everyone who WoW'd this week, sorry I can't @ you all but whatever the result, you're remaining accountable and for that, you're all AWESOME.

Welcome newbies too!

@Ninjachicken what a great result! Well done! I'm glad things are starting to improve with your DH. When my DH and I had our rough patch earlier this year, our major turning points were via taking long walks together. It's easier to talk honestly, without things escalating, when you're side by side and moving. There's definitely some science behind it, although I can't quite put my finger on the hows and whys. (Same goes for talking to kids - serious conversations are better had in the car where eye contact isn't an expectation)

@TheRealHousewife your burrito bowl looks right up my street, and not at all dodgy 🤣

That calorie count is bonkers @AutisticLegoLover and you're so right, so many people will be eating that many cals without even realise!

Sounds like a lovely weekend ahead @Puffalicious West End and dancing the night away at a party - right up my street!

As for me... A 2lb gain today. I'm genuinely not fussed, I've had an absolutely brilliant fortnight and have no regrets. I'm glad to still be at a weight that I'm not altogether unhappy with, despite the gain. Hopefully I'll get these 2lb chipped back off relatively quickly, and then will have to consider whether I keep going/try to lose more, or figure out a maintenance plan. Although I think I'm close to my optimal weight for my height and build.

I'm really hoping for a turnaround in the 'spring' weather as well! It's been rubbish so far! If the weather holds, we're off to a local country park with friends and kids tomorrow. And then it's time to get into back-to-school mode on Sunday, after a busy lunchtime shift. Can't believe how quickly time is going by!

Have a GREAT weekend all. Have lots of 🍾 (water, wine, or both if you're me 🤩)

AutisticLegoLover · 14/04/2023 13:34

I'm not fussed either @ImALittlePea. 9st 1lb is not something I'm going to stress over. In fact I don't think I'll stress over any weight because there's no point stressing. Time is better spent doing. And I shall spend next week doing lots of healthy eating and exercise. The summer holidays will be a bigger challenge with 5 weeks of no school run but at least with the better weather we should hopefully have we will be out and about more.

TheRealHousewife · 14/04/2023 14:12

@AutisticLegoLover My reply isn’t in any way telling you off or anything. I really am not. I am fascinated by the numbers that’s all. It perfectly demonstrates how very easy it is for people to over eat and not realise. Reading your menu I would never have guessed the amount of calories. There are relatively few items on your menu and it even includes a veggie and porridge option. Like you said, it’s the exception for you rather than the norm. Several years when I added up a Christmas Day menu of mine it was in excess of 3000 calories 😮. Not trying to outdo you 😊 I’m sure any access will soon be off @AutisticLegoLover 👍

@Fara22 Said spider crawled/ran up my hand/arm … it had leapt from a piece of chocolate I’d unwrapped that had been stored in a cupboard. I was just putting it in my mouth 😱 Totally off chocolate now 😬

@ImALittlePea 😅😅😅 I know! Another photo I’ve posted on Health and beauty came up with the same warning. It was a photo of gel nails 💅

@TheRealHousewife that is genuinely horrifying!!!

AutisticLegoLover · 14/04/2023 15:21

@TheRealHousewife don't worry, I didn't read it in any negative way. I too am stunned by how many calories were in there. I might start a thread to find out if posters have a good idea about how many calories there are in things. I'll do it under a different name so they can't look me up and cheat 🤣 I'll get the competitive under-eaters telling me there's eleventy billion calories and that they eat one meal a year. Then there'll be the ones who think it's about 1500.

TheRealHousewife · 14/04/2023 16:42

@Fara22 It was! I’m hoping it’s put me off chocolate for life 😬

@AutisticLegoLover Im pleased you didn’t take my comment the wrong way! Yes a thread to discuss it would be a great idea 👍 Let me know if you do and I’ll have a read.

I think I've made my weekend sound tres exciting when it isn't!!! I'm not in the fabulousness of the London West End, just the Glasgow one! 🤣 It is fabulous in it's own Glasgow way, but not London!

Had an amazing scone- just with jam- ended on 1380 cals, so probably a maintenance day. Hopefully the dancing tomorrow night will make up for it (again not in London, but quite a chi-chi venue all the same, and the after party ay my mate's house, which will be the best bit, as always!).

TheRealHousewife · 14/04/2023 19:49

@Puffalicious my logistical directional spacial awareness radar is most definitely off 😂😂😂

OP posts:
AutisticLegoLover · 14/04/2023 22:40

@Puffalicious I admit I was confused how you were in London after being on the Scottish coast not so long ago. I know it's not inconceivable that you've been to both places in the holidays but it didn't seem a logical plan to visit two places quite far apart.

AIBU was a foray into boredom. Posters are rude and no fun at all. Some got into the spirit but most were mainly sourpusses. Ah well.

I'm in bed with my book and 2 hot water bottles. My nighttime skincare routine is hopefully going to help me not look so haggard. I'm not doing too bad for 46 I suppose. I use Clinique 3 step but have added in some serum although not consistently because it's so expensive. Special offers only for that. The 3 step lasts me forever compared to cheaper stuff and I've had mainly clear skin since starting using it about 10 years ago. Before that I still got quite a few spots but not now. I have a very expressive face and the lines to show for it especially when I smile. But then if my eye skin didn't crinkle with laughter it would crack.

Hope everyone has had a good day and has a lovely weekend. The weather forecast looks much better and warmer days ahead. Bring it on.

Please can I join. Going back to read all the pages after I post this.

Weigh in today at 10st11. I'm only 5ft 1 and it's mostly round my waist. My BP is high and I'm on medication for this.
Need to get healthy.
Holiday booked for August so aiming to be in my holiday clothes (so no need to buy new) but longer term want to lower weight, waistline and blood pressure for health.

Need to eat lots of veg, cut the carbs and try to cut out most of the sugar.
Like lots of you, I've found lately that I just can't lose weight like I used to in my 20s and 30s so need to really focus.
