⭐️Open to previous members as well as new members⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

@Lionnose no I don't love running but I do like talking and as I'm going with a friend I think it will help. Maybe I will discover the inner runner that's been hiding all these years! Thanks for the podcast tip.

@Puffalicious waving hello from previous university thread where I was a lurker for a long time. First one safely ensconced in uni now going though it again with number 2! Coincidentally we are also identical SW although you're ahead of me in the CW!

Message to all when faced with McDonald's, I really recommend their grilled chicken salad with fat free dressing, it's just lettuce really but with the chicken and dressing is quite tasty and minimal calories 😄

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/04/2023 18:42

So no movement since the start of the month, due to a very indulgent boozy week off. But I haven't put any weight on, so that's something.

Today's meals

B - small slice of toast with leerdammer cheese, Greek yoghurt, raspberries, chia seeds

L - homemade tomato and lentil soup, small portion of cooked chicken, small pot of grapes

D - chorizo, kale, potatoes and broad beans

S - an oaty biscuit. Have around 150 calories left for a small something later.

Exercise wise - brisk walk and around half hour of physio exercises to build my hip/glutes strength.

Weatherwax13 · 12/04/2023 19:23

Demolished a bowl of ice cream last night. After being pleased with a loss this week. This self sabotage has to stop! I'm completely aware that I'm doing it so you'd think that would stop me. I came of all my horrible meds and was finally able to lose weight after a miserable decade and I can't believe I'm in a size 12 again. Why am I jeopardising that??
So close to goal! Also my black coffees morphed into cappuccino when I make them for DH. And I love black coffee🙄
Need to give my head a MN wobble.

AutisticLegoLover · 12/04/2023 20:01

Ending the day 66 calories over but that's ok. Soup was delicious and I really enjoyed it.
Manchester tomorrow equals not a healthy diet but Friday will be as will the weekend. Tomorrow is the last day out of the holidays so I will enjoy it. Ds pointed out I haven't opened my Easter egg yet. I might do tomorrow.

Mumskisail · 12/04/2023 20:30

Is it too late for me to join in please... It's been my birthday week, ate my way through Cornwall and 2 big meals out tomorrow and Friday. And I was already feeling a bit bigger. So healthy eating starts Saturday...

Fara22 · 12/04/2023 20:52

Welcome @Mumskisail ! Enjoy the thread - lots of inspiration to be found here!

@Lionnose I'm not good at having the chocolate around and not eating it! A lot from my generous sibling and parents - next year I might ask them just to buy for DS instead of all of us. This year, I may take some round to my neighbour I think.

@TheRealHousewife thank you 🙏🏻 more likely to get a whoosh if I don't eat all the chocolate!!

TheRealHousewife · 12/04/2023 21:13

@Weatherwax13 Try not to be so hard on yourself. It’s tough changing habits especially when the old ones are so tasty. You’ll get there because you know how good and healthy you will feel once you’ve put the hard work in. Visualise yourself looking fabulous and imagine how that will feel. Your head doesn’t need a wobble, it just needs to find its groove 👍

Welcome to the thread @Mumskisail And Happy Birthday 🥳 I adore Cornwall, it’s so chilled.

@Fara22 Yes I agree not eating the chocolate would help with getting a whoosh. Would you like me to loan you my Spider 😬 (you will only get this if you’ve read my recent close encounter with choc & spider)

Kitchen was cleaned and closed at 19:00. My macros were pretty good too and within my calorie limit. Now repeat tomorrow 😊

Hi everyone! So many messages today! Well done to everyone who lost today and chin up to everyone who has gained
the fast 800 is still going well. I was a half kilo down this morning and I am hoping tomorrow I will finally be under 65 kgs
meals today:
B: small bowl porridge made with almond milk
L: eggs, chorizo, onion, mushrooms, cheese
D: chicken, lentil and pepper curry. No rice or bread
i didn’t eat until around 11.30 so I am definately increasing my fasting window.
i am surprised that so far I have not felt that hungry. Still waiting for the headaches etc that are apparently common but for now I am feeling good and motivated .
things are a bit better with DH. He actually walked the dogs with me today which he very much sees as one of ‘my’ jobs!!
Protein starter is a great idea @TheRealHousewife and it looks really appetising in the jars
welcome to all the Newcomers
keep up with the 🍾

AutisticLegoLover · 12/04/2023 23:04

I said I'd post a NSV along with my weight on weigh days. I didn't have anything this morning but tonight I have:
Mass

AutisticLegoLover · 12/04/2023 23:08

No, I didn't go to Mass.
Massively increased my water intake and have pee'd for England all evening as a result.
Not eaten after dinner.
Stuck to within my calorie allowance by +/- 75 calories.
I took my make up off before bed too and applied serum and moisturiser.
Read my book instead of mindlessly scrolling on my phone.

I'm hoping the water and lack of anything salty today will have helped flush out any water retention from all the salty stuff lately.

Puffalicious · 13/04/2023 00:39

@Puffaliciouswaving hello from previous university thread where I was a lurker for a long time. First one safely ensconced in uni now going though it again with number 2! Coincidentally we are also identical SW although you're ahead of me in the CW!

Of course we were on the uni thread! DS is having an absolute ball. I can't believe you're going through it all again this year 🙈. I won't have the craziness until 2024, so liking the slight rest (although DS2 in study mode for Highers and needs a fair bit of poking- that DS1 never ever needed- so still drama at times!).

We can be SW mates! I've only been going a month, and I'm a total 🐢, so I'm here for the long haul. Great to see you.

OP what are those delightful looking porridge creations?! 🤔 😋

AutisticLegoLover · 13/04/2023 07:52

Morning all. Slight drop on the scales today so getting back in the swing of things although today wont be great. Have a great day!

TheRealHousewife · 13/04/2023 08:39
Happy Good Morning GIF

Good Morning

@Ninjachicken Your menu yesterday was very nice 😋 Walking the dogs together is such a relationship enhancer, long may it continue ❤️ I’ll be making another batch of my protein mix today. I really think it’s making a difference switching up to even more protein and having less carbs.

@AutisticLegoLover Great to read you’re establishing a night time skin care routine. Your older self will thank you 👍 Congrats on your loss 👏

Nice surprise on the scale today that shows a 1lb loss. That puts me exactly where I started on the 1st April. Here’s to working towards a loss by month end.

Menu
Meal 1 - Salmon, egg and cottage cheese starter. Vegetable soup.
Meal 2 - Chicken burrito bowl. Apple. Pecans.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise
Session 1 - Stretching
Session 2 - Yoga

For those who like their motivational apps I have a great recommendation. FITON. It has loads of free workouts that are worth a look. Today the app offered me 70% reduced price of £38.99 for annual membership to the pro version (full price £126.00). I succumbed. The pro version has menu plans, cast to TV, connection to Apple Watch, real time heart rate etc. The app covers all abilities from absolute beginner right up to fitness bunny.

After joining its sent me a share code for the 70% discount that can be used 5 times. That said the free version is very good 👍 If anyone wants the code I’m happy to private message it. I hope I haven’t broken MN code sharing this tip 🥴 I’m not affiliated with FITON, nor do I receive any reimbursement.

@Puffalicious I will photo the recipe for you (once I’ve found it 😬) Those were done in the air fryer but if I make them again I’ll pop them in the oven. From memory they were quite calorific but I remember giggling the ingredients to get them lower. They were delicious with a spoon of fresh cream 😋

Thankyou:) great encouragement as always @TheRealHousewife

Puffalicious · 13/04/2023 14:20

Ooooooh. No air-fryer, but I could use the oven. Didn't have porridge today and really missed it- eggy bread instead, I'm trying to avoid bread but it was only a small piece and delicious (DS3 had 3 massive slices of sour-dough eggy bread. He 's had it every day of the holidays- ASD makes him a boy of routine! Luckily there's not a pick on him).

At an outdoor inflatable event today- the joys of Easter holidays 🫣. Least I'll work off some calories running around after him.

AutisticLegoLover · 13/04/2023 19:29

Phew! Just home after a 10 hour outing to Manchester to a museum then shopping. I am knackered. I've been on my feet for 8.5 hours of that time and have walked over 7 miles. New bras bought for Dd and me and more Lego for ds! No such thing as too much Lego of course 😁
We had McDonald's for lunch and I did have a McFlurry this time but this is our last outing this month now that involves any eating out that's not a homemade picnic so I have no guilt about it especially as we did lots of walking.

I love the holidays but being a creature of ASD habits I like to get back to the school run routine not least because I miss the walking. It's due to be a lovely warm week too which will make the walk there and back even better. I might even get my walking sandals out and paint my toe nails! I'll be going to my mum's most days to make up for not seeing her when ill so my step count for next week should be impressive. I should clock up at least 60 miles. That should get the lard shifting again. And of course being back to normal eating will help.

Welcome to the new posters who have come in the last couple of days. I hope you will find this thread helpful. It's very supportive.

TheRealHousewife · 13/04/2023 19:29

@Puffalicious Next time I make them they are going in the oven 👍Did you manage to keep warm on your inflatable event … I hope it wasn’t on the water 🥶

Kitchen cleaned and closed. I’ve right enjoyed my food today. Not made the chicken burrito bowl for a while and I’d forgotten how filling it is. For some reason the photo I’m attaching has been marked by MN as ‘sensitive’ 🤷‍♀️ I promise it doesn’t contain any rude body parts 😬

That looks fab. I'm having similar tonight but with barramundi @TheRealHousewife
I've started eating more fish, I'd forgotten how much I like it. Spicy prawns with couscous on the weekend which is an old favourite. I fry a heap of grated carrot in olive oil before adding the spices, then stock and couscous. Leave it in a covered pan off the heat for five minutes then fluff up with a fork and stir in plenty of spinach when it's done. And then the prawns pan fried with chermoula spice on top. It's really quick:)

TheRealHousewife · 13/04/2023 20:10

Spicy prawns sounds very tasty! @Weatherwax13 😋

Morning, 64.15kgs this morning!!!!!
that’s nearly 1.5 kgs in four days!!! I can’t believe it. I have been trying to get under 65 kgs for about 2 months.
i know a lot will be water but it will hopefully give me the motivation to continue the fast 800 and carry on! I actually have not felt massively hungry so far, I am hoping it is the protein that is helping with that and the increased water intake.
menu today:
L: salmon with roasted broccoli
D: leftover chicken and lentil curry
good luck to anyone weighing in today !!!

TheRealHousewife · 14/04/2023 08:11

@Ninjachicken That is awesome! I'm so pleased for you! Definitely protein helps keep you satiated! 👌Well done! 👏👏👏
