☀️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer☀️

⭐️Open to previous members as well as new members⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

SW:10st11
CW: 10st 5.8
TW: somewhere around 9st 10.

Don't get time to write very often but read most days and it is helping me stay motivated. Thanks all.

conspiracyoflemurs · 26/04/2023 17:37

Well done on the early morning runs @Hoolahoophop You've reminded me we've got Just Dance for the Switch. I might give that a go again!

Puffalicious · 26/04/2023 20:08

Hey all!

WOW is 1lb today, taking Mr to my first half a stone! Still 🐢, but that's the way for me. As long as it keeps dropping I'm grand, it's the weeks of staying the same/ gain that kill me.

SW 13st 2
CW 12 st 9
GW 10st 12

As for the work situation - - I think age / tolerance has a lot to do with it ; ) But keep up the good work. Thanks Buzz and you are SO right- I'm at the 'Can't be arsed' age. Anyhoo, day off tomorrow and plan to just potter- my favourite.

@LeatherSkirt82 Youre making fantastic progress. Well done! 👏👏👏

@Bikechic Good loss this week 👍 Keep it up!

@Karatema Sometimes we don’t lose; at least you haven’t gained 😬

@conspiracyoflemurs You're welcome. Walking is one of the easier ways to get more exercise. Do it with gusto and you’ll soon see a difference.

@Bumblebeehum 2lbs is still good! 😬

@Retsina24 Off to a good start! Keep it up 👍

Early night for me, tired and in quite a bit of pain. Night all 💤

Some lovely losses this week-well done! I will evaluate my April on Sunday and hope I end on a loss. I looked back and the weekend was slightly above maintenance and that will account for the lack of progress this week. That will teach me.

11.5 miles today
200 calories under allowance (trying to average out after the weekend)
Plank challenge done
Lots of 🍾 today

I'm keeping up with the skin care routine and hoping the wrinkles will keep at bay. Reading every night and taking a little time for myself during the day normally while I eat lunch.

Keep plodding on and we will get there. It will be worth all the hard work and a cause for celebration. What will you do when you reach your goal? I'm going to ponder that. It's not far off for ne so it's not going to feel magically different. Celebrate with a take away?? 🤣 No, probably not. A nice trip away perhaps.

AutisticLegoLover · 27/04/2023 07:05

56.1kg thinking about 56.05kg this morning so back down to my all time low. It's only a 600g or 1.3lbs over the month but at least it's a loss albeit a small one. AF still awol and now 7 days late but the pmt appears to have worn off at least. I'm hoping to hit the 55s before May 1st or st least start May in the 55s. That would be a major boost.

It feels like it should be Friday but sadly it's not. Is everyone looking forward to the bank holiday weekend?

Hope you all have a great day drinking 🍾

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 27/04/2023 08:00

Good morning all.
Fasting until dinner took me down to 128lbs exactly. 2lbs to go.
Planing an active day of house cleaning and making up my DD's rooms for when they are next back and also with a walk with my chum this afternoon.
Would be nice to drop a bit more before the weekend🤞🏻

ThreeRingCircus · 27/04/2023 08:29

Hi all, I'm weighed in yesterday (I'm going to weigh in weekly with you on Wednesdays from now on as it stops me obsessing.... I'm too impatient to get all this weight shifted!)

I've lost 8lbs in April which I'm really pleased with, but I know it comes off quicker at the start and I've got more to lose anyway....still, I'm happy with how it's going so far.

SW: 14st 11lbs
CW: 14st 3lbs
GW: 11st

Yesterday's meals:

B: coffee
L: slice of buttered wholemeal toast and a banana
D: homemade fish pie with asparagus
S: small glass of red wine

Today's meals:

B: coffee
L: greek yoghurt, blueberries, raspberries and a little bit of honey
D: veggie chilli and cauliflower rice

I'm going quite hard at the moment, logging on MFP and trying to keep to a strict calorie limit but that's because I have some events over the next few weekends that I want some wiggle room for (going away with my sister this weekend, coronation party etc.) I think it's a case of if I eat too much one day, not beating myself up and getting straight back on plan..... previously I'd just use that as an excuse to give up and keep the bad eating habits going.

Feeling motivated, and really enjoying reading this thread and posting to keep me accountable.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 27/04/2023 08:34

Morning all,
Well done to all the loosers yesterday!
I weighed myself this morning and am still 66.4kg so no loss but at least no gain. Unfortunatley I have a weekend of work events where the food will be of the beige variety which isn't going to help.

Right - going to try and reply fully as I actually have ten minutes to do so - sorry if I miss anyone but I was AWOL for all the WoWs so got a few pages to try catch up on!!

I hope you had a better day yesterday @Puffalicious and that your DS is doing better now? They cause such worry don't they ❤ well done for hitting a milestone!! Amazing!

Well done on your weigh in @Weatherwax13 - I have no experience with insomnia I'm afraid, but I hope you manage to find a solution for yourself soon!

Thank you for your continued support as always @TheRealHousewife 😊 and huge well done on your overall loss this month!

A 2lb overall loss for the month is fantastic @Bumblebeehum so don't be down on yourself for it! (I'll almost certainly be up overall when I weight tomorrow!)

Well done @Ninjachicken , hopefully you'll have a whoosh soon if you're being so consistent! Weight measurement is a great shout too ❤

@ThreeRingCircus 8lb! WOW indeed! Great April result 🏅

@Was126orbustandmaybebust @Hoolahoophop @LeatherSkirt82 @Bikechic @AutisticLegoLover excellent results! Well done!

Argh I really feel like I've missed some of you - sorry! Keep posting, stay accountable, everyone here is an inspiration to me.

Thanks again to everyone for the support in my down moments this week. Glad to say that DH is home (albeit currently snoring on the sofa!), DS is much better (touch wood) and back at school, so the balance is mostly restored. Here's my menu for the last couple of days:

Tuesday
Lunch - 3 x ryvita, houmous, tomatoes and cucumber
Dinner - jacket potatoes, beans, cheese and salad

Wednesday
Lunch - went to Nando's and opted for the sundried tomato/quinoa salad with a chicken breast - actually very nice and MUCH better in terms of calories than my go-to burger and chips!
Dinner - risotto with bacon, peppers, peas and pesto. Rest of the family had garlic bread but I abstained.

Today
Lunch - 3 x ryvita, houmous, tomatoes and cucumber
Dinner - chicken caesar salad (ish) and a handful of homemade chips

I'm really hopeful for a loss tomorrow, I feel like I've been focussed enough, I've not had any bread, crisps, chocolate or wine, and I've been drinking insane amounts of water. I don't like it when I'm hopeful though, as if it doesn't swing the way I want tomorrow then I'll be more disappointed! I can't do much more than I have though, so we shall see in the morning!

Puffalicious · 27/04/2023 14:38

Lovely post Imalittlepea DS is a little better, thanks. My day off, so no stress of work at least. I've spent most of it doing nothing- total bliss day and I really, really needed it. Been snacking, but today I don't care!

DownUdderer · 28/04/2023 04:52

I gave blood this morning and you have to have a snack afterwards to stop from feeling wobbly. I really enjoyed that snack! I had a few crisps, a few chocolate hazelnuts and some crackers and cheese and it was delicious! I've tried not to snack this week, so the snacks today tasted extra amazing!

I must remember to weigh myself tomorrow morning to see where I'm at. You have to tell the nurse your weight before giving blood. I wonder if I'll weigh a bit less in three weeks when I go again (plasma donation).

Overall this week I've felt in control, I have to plan ahead otherwise it's harder to make good decisions. I've eaten heaps of vegetables so I'm really pleased with that. I've been drinking loads of water, I'm pleased with that as well.

Good luck everyone.

AutisticLegoLover · 28/04/2023 06:55

Morning all. It's finally Friday and I can report a weight of exactly 56kg so I'm now 1kg off my goal weight. This last bit seems so slow but i just keep telling myself that slow equals fat lost rather than water and just to keep going.

How is everyone this morning? I'm glad to see things are improving for those who have been struggling lately.

Have a great day and enjoy your 🍾

ImALittlePea · 28/04/2023 08:12

Pleased to report my hopefulness wasn't in vain - 2lb off this morning! A very happy pea 🫛 this morning, now around 1-2lb off what I think might be my target. I'm extra proud of myself as with all the difficulties early on in the week I could have so easily jacked it in and comfort are, but I didn't and it was so worth it. And as I normally find when I'm 'on it' I haven't felt frustrated or deprived on the food front this week at all - far from it, in fact. And my mojo is firing again, so hopefully that'll remain in place for the foreseeable! T-20 days to the big birthday, and -22 days to the big party. A semi-busy weekend ahead, but then we have a couple of quiet weeks which we're hoping won't get much busier (other than extra shifts at work which I've offered), so I shouldn't undo things too much with the weekendiness.

Happy Friday lovely losers 🎊

AutisticLegoLover · 28/04/2023 08:15

@ImALittlePea that's awesome well done! You've had such a rubbish week too so it's amazing you've lost anything never mind 2lb!

ImALittlePea · 28/04/2023 08:29

Well done to you too @AutisticLegoLover 🎊 yes the last few lb/kg does feel sluggish but I like your mantra of slow = fat loss. Mine is most likely salt/water bloat from all the birthday and Easter excesses, but that's fine by me! Got to think about how to adjust to maintain when I get to where I want to be, as I don't want to yo-yo too much. It plays with the mind too much!

I missed your posts @Puffalicious - days like that are so restorative! No guilt on the snacks for sure 😊

Blood donors are such heroes @DownUdderer my DS has had more transfusions than I can count, I had to stop donating when I had my DD but you've reminded me to try and get started again! ❤️

Thank you @TheRealHousewife definitely treat yourself to a 🍷 tonight ❤️

Ninjachicken · 28/04/2023 11:06

Morning all. Nice to see all the losses this week. Spring being in the air and summer around the corner must be motivational !

brilliant loss @ImALittlePea and great that everything is evening out again for you

enjoy your wine tonight @TheRealHousewife definately well deserved!!!

I have just been walking with a friend (older generation) and in the course of the conversation he said « people like you and your dad with weight problems » and then started talking about diet etc. I don’t know why but I found this comment quite difficult. My dad is overweight and I guess I am too but I am in the healthy bmi range etc. I guess it just made me think omg is that how people see me. Fat I guess !!!!
it just hasn’t made me feel great, wondering if I am being over sensitive!!
anyway, just wanted to share that !!!

food today:
L: banana and almond milk smoothie
D: chicken, maybe satay skewers or parmasan chicken goujons

have a good day everyone

AutisticLegoLover · 28/04/2023 12:54

@Ninjachicken that's horrible! I seem to recall you're a similar weight to me but can't remember how tall you are but if you are in the healthy bmi then I'd be very upset too. It's so rude to comment on people's weightFlowers

Ninjachicken · 28/04/2023 15:06

Thank you @AutisticLegoLover nice to know it is not just me who found it a bit off!!! It hasn’t made me feel good about myself! I am short so I am at the high end of the healthy bmi but still!!!!!

AutisticLegoLover · 28/04/2023 18:12

I think if someone brings up their weight and wants to talk about their own diet and exercise or just as a general topic then it's very tricky to navigate without unintentionally offending but unsolicited comments about someone's weight, good or bad, are a big no for me. I'm glad the two people who kept saying something to me have now stopped. I don't tend to notice unless someone has lost or gained a few stone but I'd still not say anything.

Nearly 11 miles today and under calories. Not a very healthy day so must do better tomorrow. Too many snacky things. I blame hormones. Although I've been craving my usual lunch of Greek yogurt, fruit compote and honey this week and have had it for lunch and dinner today. I've added chia seeds most times this week for extra protein, fibre and one of the omegas. 3? 6? Can't remember.

I'm glad it's the weekend. No doubt ds will be awake at 7am tomorrow though 🙄

Puffalicious · 28/04/2023 20:23

Imalittlepea so delighted to hear your loss news. Well done 👏 after a tough week.

Ninjachicken how dare they? You're in the healthy BMI category! I'd LOVE to be there. If anyone said shit like that to me they'd be regretting it instantly. Please don't let it affect you. Some people just open their mouths and let it run riot.

Ninjachicken · 29/04/2023 08:32

Thank you @Puffalicious and @AutisticLegoLover !!!! Your comments have cheered me up no end!
i did actually re-check my bmi , it is 25.5 so yes I am overweight. Though I still think it is a really insensitive thing to say. I also know bmi is not always the best measure of health but it at least gives you an idea.

rainy and horrible here today which always makes me feel like eating and baking. I will try and resist though my sourdough starter really needs some toc
L: smoked salmon omlette or maybe leftover parmasan chicken goujons
D: pork and veg stir fry

have a good weekend !!
