⭐️Open to previous members as well as new members⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Morning everyone!

Quick check in to say hello. I've reached goal as of yesterday 10 12. So lost 13 lbs since Jan this year (overall loss 2 stone 4 since Sept 21). It was regularly weighing and posting on this lovely supportive thread that helped. Thanks again OP.

I'll swing by now and then, as I think my next big challenge is to maintain, and not undo all the hard work.

Good luck everyone. It is possible. Not an easy journey.

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2023 10:34

buzz you are my inspiration as I too started on 13 2 and my goal is 10 12!
I reached 11 5 over a year ago (was a very comfortable size 12 and felt abd looked really good. Ill never be the size 8 i was 20 years ago pre-kids) and I've put lots back on, so the maintenance chat is also relevant to me- although I do think peri and coming off certain meds has had a lot to do with it.

I've been great all week, but didn't have a good day yesterday: last day at work before the holidays and was such huge pressure all day to 'Just have some chocolate, a little slice of cake' from staff and kids that I gave in. My issue is that if I break the chocolate seal I just keep going! I know this about myself. I find it very hard to just have 2 squares 🙈.

Off on hols today- Highlands which we love- in our camper, so hoping beautiful views keep me fulfilled rather than food!

SW 13 2
CW 13
GW 10 2

Puffalicious · 01/04/2023 10:47

Welcome La Wench it's hard taking that first step. The first few weeks are tough, so check in when you can. There seems to be loads of posters at/ near target/ not much to lose- who of course still need the support- but I'm here with a lot to lose, so hello!

talkitup · 01/04/2023 11:02

Puffalicious · 30/03/2023 21:24

God it makes me so down when others are 2 weeks in and half a stone down 😪. I'm 3 weeks in and 2lb down. I can't help but feel crappy about that. I hate peri menopause.

Ignore me. Still in a funk.

I so know where you are; started training and CC at 1450 a day end of January; to date I've lost 7lbs... unbelievable and so frustrating but the alternative is the lbs just keep going on. I'm just looking at it as a way of life now and recognising it's going to take a lot longer than I'd planned.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 01/04/2023 11:05

Thanks @TheRealHousewife
@Puffalicious I will be delighted if I hit 126lbs but at only 5' 2" I could do with being a good bit lower than this really. I have, through all of this, set myself mini targets having hit 146lbs in lockdown, I was 136orbust, then 132, 129 and then 126. I got as far as 129 I think then went on holiday and let things slide and did not get things back on track.
So this morning 131lbs and 5lbs to go until I take another look - if when i get there. Onwards and inwards!

AutisticLegoLover · 01/04/2023 12:15

Morning all. Feeling rough and rotten this morning and the scales are showing a slight gain. Rude. So starting the month at 56.7kg. Humph. Must be those almond croissants I've had and the crisps causing fluid retention and possibly the steroids.

SW: 68.8kg last September
CW: 56.7kg (was 56.65kg yesterday)
GW: 55kg

I've only been seriously trying to lose weight since 9th January. I should hopefully hit my goal by the end of April and then it's maintenance time for the summer along with toning. Once I'm better I'll be on my ball bouncing each day, walking, and using the weights. For now I'm a couch potato watching Midsomer Murders 😁

Welcome to all the newcomers, I'm sure you'll find this thread very supportive and helpful with no shame, no fads, no banned foods, no deprivation, just healthy lifestyle stuff and delicious foods.

Let's do this!

LaWench · 01/04/2023 12:34

Thanks for the welcome 😚.

IF is going well, I'm doing 18/6. The LCHF so far has really surprised me in how my sugar cravings have subsided so quickly. I'm looking forward to my grocery shop arriving tonight, it's way more expensive than normal but it's mainly whole foods, no more UPF for me. Joined a lot of low carb and keto groups on FB for inspiration but there is a lot of attempting to recreate bread and packaged snacks that I'm wanting to avoid. I did have some red wine last night, 1 medium glass instead of my usual 2-3 large glasses, drank it slowly and actually enjoyed it more and finished at 8.30 to close my eating window, then went onto water.

Still a teeny loss on the scales, 2.6lbs down this week. Good luck everyone.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/04/2023 13:49

I accidentally put golden syrup in my yogurt instead of honey 😩 luckily it tasted ok but I feel deprived of my daily favourite meal now. I've also realised that I've only gained 50g since yesterday and it's ridiculous to be annoyed about it. 50g is how much cherry compote I eat with my yogurt and honey. Hardly something to worry about. I'm obviously not quite with it today. Must learn not to sweat the small stuff.

DancingDoll · 01/04/2023 14:03

Thanks for the kind welcomes! I’m on holiday with the family just now and know I’ll find it so hard not to fall back into my standard holiday eating routine (ie eating ALL THE TIME).

Had scrambled eggs and veg for breakfast, no travel snacks and then a prawn salad for lunch so not too bad so far but the real test will be a buffet dinner tonight!

I also thought the hotel had a gym but doesn’t seem that way so I need to figure out a way to do HIIT sessions in the room 🤔

Cloudberries123 · 01/04/2023 16:52

Enjoy your holiday DancingDoll Your food so far sounds absolutely lovely. And don't ask me how I know this, but there is a whole subset of YouTube workout videos dedicated to being in hotel rooms and having to be quiet/not having any equipment! Search along the lines of 'HIIT workout hotel room/no equipment/no jumping' 😉👌🏻

Out at a kids' Easter do this morning where treats abounded but was too busy chatting and supervising the baby to actually scoff anything. Got a goodie bag which I've already scoffed the kid size chocolates out of though 😂

Breakfast - coffee x2, wm toast x2 with butter and fish paste

Lunch - water, mini hotdog, leftover sausage pasta and veg, mini pack of buttons and rolos

Snack - fruit

Dinner - flying solo tonight so pizza, salad and probably some tortilla chips and houmous in front of the telly.

Definitely not super nutritious but for a weekendy/festive type of day where I would previously have opened the floodgates, I'm really satisfied with how moderate I've been.

And Puffa and the PPs thinking they're the only ones with loads to go, I'm still hovering around 95kg so plenty more to lose here! Solidarity!

greenspaces4peace · 01/04/2023 17:04

So so so miffed with my April 1 starting wt.
So many miles and nothing to show 😔, however I’m sure my cardiac health is up to snuff.

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2023 17:41

Fabulous photo @greenspaces4peace ❤️ We’ll beat April together … my loss (no loss) for March was somewhat disappointing too.

@DancingDoll Have a blast! 🍹

@AutisticLegoLover Totally agree in not sweating the small stuff … mostly it’s all small stuff we fret about. Free your mind 😬 PS hope you soon feel better!

Puffalicious · 01/04/2023 17:44

Thanks talkitup it does help knowing you're at the slow end too. It's so frustrating, but you're right, I need to think of it as a lifestyle and not depriving myself.

cloudberries good to know I'm not the only one with a bit to lose. Thanks for the solidarity.

The smell of fish and chips is killing me right now - DH and DS tucking in- so I'll go a walk on the beach with a hot drink! I'm surrounded by people - inc best friends- who can eat what they like, it's hard!

Have a good Sat night all.

delishdelosh · 01/04/2023 18:04

May I join?

I started IF last year and was doing well on it, then advent hit, then it was Christmas, then other excuses and illness and suddenly it’s bloody April!

Haven’t weighed myself since about November but I need to get a handle on things so will do when I track down the scales, and I will post here to make myself accountable.

Just want to feel healthier and be more mindful about what I’m consuming. I’d also like to feel I’m not alone in trying to do this!

Beanniebaby22 · 01/04/2023 19:44

Hi! Been lurking a while but should really join in properly.

Starting weight in Feb 2022 was 16 st 4.5 lbs (I’m 5’4”)

Then got pregnant with my DS and was horrendously ill for the first few months with Hyperemesis Gravidarum and lost weight.

Gave birth in November 2022 and didn’t weigh myself again til the end of Feb 2023 and was 15 st 5 lbs.

I’ve done Slimming World numerous times in the past and my lowest weight was 9 st 3 lbs I believe (10 years ago). Only problem with slimming world was I would keep the weight off for a little while, fall off the wagon, stick my head in the sand, and before I knew it the weight was back on again, plus more. It’s honestly embarrassing how many times I have rejoined slimming world in the last 10 years, each time weighing more than my previous starting weight. I would hate to work out how much money I have pissed away on it! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Anyway, I decided I needed a different approach this time, no pressure of following the rules of a plan or stressing myself with a formal weigh in at a club every week. I have been doing calorie counting since the end of February and tracking on MFP.

So far it’s been going pretty well for me. I have set my calorie limit fairly high (2500) as I am breastfeeding and also quite active. So far I’ve been losing weight consistently every week eating that many calories, so I’ll stick at it for now until my losses plateau and then I will re-evaluate. I find denying myself only leads to a binge/ guilt/ restrict cycle, so don’t want to do that anymore.

Results so far:
Feb 2022 - 16st 4.5 lbs

Feb 2023 - 15st 5 lbs

1st March 2023 - 15st 1 lb (-4 lbs) (-1st 3.5 lbs Total)

8th March 2023 - 14st 12 lbs (-3 lbs) (-1st 6.5 lbs Total)

15th March 2023 - 14st 10 lbs (-2 lbs) (-1st 8.5 lbs Total)

22nd March 2023 - 14st 7 lbs (-3 lbs) (-1st 11.5 lbs Total)

29th March 2023 - 14st 6.5 lbs (-0.5 lbs) (-1st 12 lbs Total)

Losing those 12.5 lbs over the last month has made me feel so much better in myself and hope to keep up this momentum! Have a sunny holiday booked for September and ideally would love to be around the 11 stone mark by then and closer to a healthier BMI, but realise it might be a bit of a stretch to pull that off in 5 and a bit months when I would need to be losing on average 2 pounds a week 🙈 but I’m willing to give it a bloody good go anyway!

Hoping to hit 2 stone total loss this Wednesday 😊 Good luck everyone else too!

Coffeesnob11 · 01/04/2023 19:52

Hello everyone.

Sw 12st 12
Cw 12st 8.5
Gw 9st 12

Another drop this morning on the scales. Had 2 poached eggs on 1.5 slices of thick granary toast and a coffee today. Need to up the veg and fruit this evening.
Trying to do 12k steps a day.

greenspaces4peace · 01/04/2023 20:12

@TheRealHousewife "my loss, no loss" made me smile and i needed that :)
thank you.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/04/2023 20:34

Does anyone make and more importantly like chia pudding? I was thinking of making some to try. I haven't got any maple syrup but could use honey instead.

Xmasfairy86 · 01/04/2023 20:41

April has arrived

I’m checking in. Starting. Praying.

far too heavy for my liking - and my health!

My only excuse is laziness. Pure laziness. And greed 😆🐷

greenspaces4peace · 01/04/2023 22:00

@AutisticLegoLover i do make it, a bit of trial and error with recipes. it can be bland. but equally i found the calories to add up anyway. i do like the texture of all pudding though. for the health benefit of chia seeds i sprinkle about 3gms (half a teaspoon) on my morning cereal or salad.

TheRealHousewife · 01/04/2023 22:11

Welcome to the thread @delishdelosh, @Xmasfairy86 and @Beanniebaby22 . Congratulations on your baby Beannie!

You’re welcome @greenspaces4peace 👍❤️ You work so hard at it and I share the same frustrations. We’ll get there I promise!

Well done on your loss @Coffeesnob11 👍👏Hope you reach your step goal of 12k.

I'm away and it's glorious. Camusdarach beach - facing the Small Isles of Eigg, Rum, Muck and Canna and the towering Cuillins of Skye. It's one of my happiest places. And barely a soul here.

Keeping up with calorie counting - will be 1100 ish today, which is no mean feat on holidays.

The sea keeps me calm!

Welcome all the new posters. I've just rejoined myself at the end of March (after putting back on 1.5 stones of a 2.5 stone loss - so i get the yo-yoing Beanniebaby22😔) and I need the check in of the thread.

Have a great evening all.
