⭐️Open to previous members as well as new members⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

NSV definitely something I need to focus on.

Mine tonight is being in the pub and not even wanting hallumi fries/ nachos/ crisps from the plates of friends who were offering nibbles! I had diet drinks (I don't drink anyway) and loved the quiz.

My mindset hasn't changed- I've always been a determined bugger- but the fact that I didn't mindlessly nibble/ wasn't hungry is a total win. 👍

Remindmeofababe · 07/04/2023 07:45

Thanks @Beanniebaby22 for explaining what NSV stands for! Couldn't work it out 🤦
Great idea to measure waist @Lionnose , hope it gave you some motivation.
All those baking ideas sound delicious @AutisticLegoLover , hopefully the baking will help you feel more yourself again. Baking is something I often turn to when I am feeling meh. Even if I give it all away, the actual process of baking I find soothing!
Had tea at the in-laws last night, always eat too much. But haven't been snacking of an evening this week. Also resisted sweet treats in the office.
Need to up the walking but feeling happier with keeping water intake up.
Happy good Friday everyone!

AutisticLegoLover · 07/04/2023 09:26

Morning all. Checking in with a Friday weight of 8st 12lb today. A miracle considering no exercise for the past 12 days and eating whatever I've wanted mostly.

We are off to the skate park this morning. It's sunny but freezing and my head is banging but I promised ds. Might get a costa hot chocolate to warm me up.

Have a lovely Friday and hope anyone who weighs today gets a good result.

TheRealHousewife · 07/04/2023 09:51

Good Morning All

@AutisticLegoLover Sorry to read you still feel poorly. Sounds like you have a busy weekend planned. Hope you manage to enjoy your family time in spite of feeling rubbish. Nice NSV 👍

@Lionnose Keeping satiated and hydrated and balanced blood sugars can help curb the cravings 👍 Good luck.

@Ninjachicken Hope you’re feeling more settled after the row with DH.

@DancingDoll Well done on not succumbing to the whole bag of haribos 😬👍

@Puffalicious You demonstrated great control in the pub … who can refuse an Halloumi fry 👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made veg soup.
Meal 2 - Mary Berry’s Recipe for Chicken Dish, mixed veg
Tea, black coffee and water.

Happy Easter 🐣

why does loosing weight take soooo long?! Had plateaued at 10.10 for a week so very happy to see a lb loss today!

TheRealHousewife · 07/04/2023 10:37

@Ashwater I agree; Its annoying that weight never comes off as fast as it went on! Well done on your loss 👍

@Remindmeofababe im not sure it’s motivated me yet but hopefully seeing it change will be a big win and will hopefully help me to keep going

@TheRealHousewife thanks for that. I’ve been really good with my water the past two days and I think it has helped. I did eat a tiny bit more chocolate that I meant to yesterday because it’s Easter bits we’ve been given. In a few weeks it will all be gone and it won’t be there for me to snack on. I’m trying really hard to keep anything I like to snack on out of the house!

ive stayed on track so far today. It’s my DH’s birthday so I will be having a drink or two tonight but will attempt to avoid snacks.

TheRealHousewife · 07/04/2023 19:24

Trigger Warning! I’ve inadvertently induced aversion therapy on myself. OH had a bar of salted caramel chocolate yesterday and put what was left in a kitchen cupboard. Today I thought I’d have a small piece so fetched it from the kitchen. It was one of those bars that are wrapped in paper rather than cellophane. I carefully unwrapped it and snapped a smallish piece off. As I raised my hand to pop it in my mouth … brace yourselves … a spider crawled off the chocolate onto my hand and ran up my arm 😱😱😱 I kid you not I shat myself. Little fucker. All the chocolate is in the bin and every time I think about it I feel sick.

You’re welcome @Lionnose. Well done for staying on track during your DH birthday celebrations 🥳

Omg. The stuff of nightmares @TheRealHousewife

I'm traumatised... feel sick 🤢 🥺

OP posts:
AutisticLegoLover · 07/04/2023 21:08

A traumatic experience indeed 😱

I missed lunch but have made up for it with 4 slices of take away pizza and 2 handfuls of fries and one onion ring. And 2 small pieces of the cake I made. It's flat as a pancake so 2 splices don't even equal 1 normal slice of cake. Other than that I've had porridge, tea, water, crisps, sweets. Ah well 🤷🏼‍♀️ I used to eat a full take away pizza once a week back in the day. I'll class today as a maintenance plus day 🤣

Weatherwax13 · 07/04/2023 22:52

I've had about ten days where I've really let things slide and I've gained a kilo. Need to rein it in sharpish. Baking for Easter Sunday as AC are bringing the kids but I'll give them all the remains to take home and seriously get back on it Monday.
I've gained almost 1kg when I'd been slowly but steadily losing for 12 weeks and means I won't hit the target I'd set for my birthday. Can't sabotage myself like this when I've come so far.
All up have 4kg more to go before TW. Which I wanted to achieve before I go overseas at end of May.
I know it's emotional eating and I need to stop it from becoming a vicious circle.

TheRealHousewife · 08/04/2023 06:59

Good Morning

@Weatherwax13 Try not to worry. You’ve weighed yourself to find you’ve gained slightly (not massively), and now you need to start over without guilt. Guilt (and any other negative thoughts) would only make you feel worse and more likely to throw the towel in iyswim. Reaffirm your intentions and you’ll be fine 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Mushroom Omelette. Walnuts & Spicy hummus.
Meal 2 - Hake, carrots, peas, broccoli. Large orange.
Tea, black coffee & water.

How are you @greenspaces4peace ❤️

OP posts:
Puffalicious · 08/04/2023 12:19

Laughing so hard at your aversion therapy, OP! 🤣

I'm the exception, in that I like spiders. I used to stroke them as a child apparently,🫠but I totally get your reaction (I'd be the same with a slug - uughh!).

Definitely went over cals yesterday. Not really a conscious decision, though, which is annoying. I nibbled a piece of yum-yum and some biscuits after my IF time. My best friend came for dinner then stayed for a cuppa and I sort of mindlessly nibbled. Not horrendous but annoying all the same. Sister over today with kids for cuppa and catch-up so will not do the same!

TheRealHousewife · 08/04/2023 12:29

@Puffalicious 😅 Honestly I think the close encounter has put me off chocolate for life! I didn’t know spiders ate chocolate either.

OP posts:
Weatherwax13 · 08/04/2023 20:56

I know you're right
@TheRealHousewife
Guilt just makes it worse. I think I've been self sabotaging really and I've no idea why. But maybe the actual reason doesn't matter if I can see what I'm doing and readjust my mindset.
DH was snacking all evening and I chose not to which seemed to make him a bit cross. So that's odd but made me all the more determined.
I fasted 18:6 and had a really healthy dinner so I feel more in control today.
Back to 16:8 and two healthy meals a day this week:)

TheRealHousewife · 08/04/2023 21:28

That sounds positive @Weatherwax13 👍 Sorry to read your dh get moody when you stick to plan. Perhaps he feels threatened by the positive changes you’re making and the benefits that come with that. Don’t let him derail you!

OP posts:
AutisticLegoLover · 08/04/2023 22:22

Some people hate others having restraint because it highlights their own lack of restraint. They prefer partners in crime. Stay strong @Weatherwax13

Well tomorrow will be I can eat chocolate day. The mini egg cheesecakes are made and we are waiting for dd1 to join us to make the chocolate Rice Krispie cakes. There are 6 individual cheesecakes between 4 of us. Dd1 doesn't like cheesecake strange child. I've made a small cheesecake as well that I'll give mum to take home with her. That way I can't eat it 😁

Tonight is the first night I've not felt ill so here's hoping the covid is more or less out of my system and I can get back to normal. I've missed my walking and ball bouncing.

I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow 🐣🐰🪺🐥

Weatherwax13 · 08/04/2023 23:59

Small slice of this and the rest will go home with GC. Don't even want chocolate because = spiders 🤔
I've realised this attitude from DH is a recurring theme and I think you're quite right do I'm going to ignore him

Hello, hoping I can join you all here. I am not overweight but have recently put on weight around my middle and am not happy with my new shape (and I'm the heaviest I've ever been- apart from pregnancy). I've put on well over a stone which I realise is not loads, but have also started (2 months ago) taking an antidepressant that increases appetite. So having to reach into my non existent willpower to try and get back on track and shift some of the fat! My plan is to only allow myself one treat (cake, biscuit, pudding etc) a day as I have way too many of these at the moment, drink more water, eat more protein and fewer carbs and keep going/up the exercise. I run 4 times a week and sometimes do a bit of strength training, so planning to keep the running, do 2 strength sessions and 2 15 min HIIT workouts, and try and walk wherever I can- I think I need to keep this up so that it counteracts the increased appetite from the meds!

AutisticLegoLover · 09/04/2023 21:05

Well the mini egg cheesecake was very nice. I had some mini egg tiffin too but cut it into very small squares. Missed lunch due to baking. Porridge for breakfast, honey roast carrots and parsnips, 2 roast potatoes, 2 stuffing balls, portion of peas, cranberry sauce for dinner. A chocolate Rice Krispie cake, some sweets, the little cheesecake and the tiffin and that's my dreadful diet for the day. I've no idea on the calories but probably not too bad really. I haven't had any of my Easter egg or anything except 2 cups of tea and lots of water.

Smelly old city tomorrow for bubble tea. No idea about lunch but the dc will probably want McDonald's. I'll choose water as my drink if we have that. I have the veggie deluxe and fries usually. I'll look up the calories later. The last time I had one was in the autumn.

Tuesday is my restart day.

Have you all had a lovely day?

Ninjachicken · 09/04/2023 22:02

Thank you @AutisticLegoLover and @TheRealHousewife things are not great at the moment but trying to work though it
