☀️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer☀️

⭐️Open to previous members as well as new members⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Greek yogurt mainly. I eat 200g a day. That's 20.6g of protein according to the tub. My Protein intake isn't that great but the yogurt really does fill me up at lunch. I eat porridge with chia for breakfast and that's decent for protein. I don't eat meat or fish or eggs so I'm limited and I'm not a fan of beans abs pulses either.

Gah, a gain this Wednesday for the first time in the 12 weeks I've been doing this. Completely predictable as I really fell off the wagon. 50th birthday in 2 weeks so I won't make my goal for that but I aim to drop 1kg.
Definitely emotional eating this week so I need to address that as I'm pissed off with myself.
SW 88.8kg
CW 76.4kg
TW 72kg

pippitypoppitypoo · 05/04/2023 06:01

Great start for me, I've gained 0.4KG! 🤣 onwards and upwards, I've not been that disciplined so far. We go again!

Remindmeofababe · 05/04/2023 06:39

@Weatherwax13 @pippitypoppitypoo am with you, gain of half a pound
SW 10 4
CW 10 2.5
TW 9 st 7

So things I have learned - really don't need to join my husband snacking of an evening.
I have enjoyed doing more of an evening, puttering round the garden, walks etc. Think I got carried away thinking I could therefore eat more 🤦
Am doing ok on the getting up when my alarm goes and having a big glass of water . hope everyone's weigh in goes ok today.
Loving seeing the photos of beautiful scenery. It has been lovely and sunny this week here with me, just gorgeous.
@buzzofthebumblebee amazing half marathon time, never made it under two hours. I am definitely more of a slow plodder!
@AutisticLegoLover fingers crossed you start feeling better soon.
Happy Wednesday!

Fara22 · 05/04/2023 07:06

First weigh in for about a month, so a fresh start for April I think:

SW: 15 st 7
CW: 15 st 1.8
1st GW: 13 st

I too need to find a way to occupy my evenings, as I am mindlessly eating junk. Now the evenings are lighter, I think an evening walk a few times a week will be perfect.

Good luck for weigh in everyone!

Bumblebeehum · 05/04/2023 07:41

Morning all, delighted to report a 2lb loss this week and feeling good!

Im now at my lowest weight since joining MFP (10 years ago) and no longer qualify for weight loss surgery in the uk 🎊

Still a long way to go, will still see demons but I remember @AutisticLegoLover said in the January thread that we should look positively at the health gains and reward ourselves for just being healthy (words to that effect), and so today I’m going for a spa day being a whole stone lighter since I last wore my swimsuit’

SW - 116kg (in kilo’s today as they’re nice round numbers)
CW - 95kg
Next Goal - 86kg

best of luck everyone!

DancingDoll · 05/04/2023 07:43

Back from holidays and while I didn’t manage to stick to all my healthy eating plans I did a lot better than I normally would - sensible choices at mealtimes and didn’t overdo it even at buffets. HIIT in the room went out the window but given how much I was walking and playing with the kids (theme park holiday) I still got moving which is good. Weigh in today shows a standstill from Friday, when we left, so I’ll take that!

SW 81kg
CW 78.5kg
TW 67 kg

Fully back on it today! Hope everyone else is doing well xx

Bikechic · 05/04/2023 08:19

Stayed the same at today's weigh in. Not too disappointed as I'd fluctuated up in the week, so I'm back again.
SW: 12 st 2
CW: 11st 7
GW: 10st

AutisticLegoLover · 05/04/2023 08:52

Morning all. Welcome to the newbies.
Still suffering here and am fed up now of feeling rubbish. It's very boring.
Weight about the same. I've not been weighing first thing or without clothes 😱 so I can only say about the same. I can't say I care too much right now but will get back on things soon. My porridge is prepping and I've generally kept that good habit.
The rain has arrived. Good for the gardens but sad to see after all the lovely sunshine.I think Good Friday is looking lovely and sunny. I really want to get to the coast but our favourite place is 3 trains away and I don't have the energy for that yet. I'm dreaming of sea air and a big ice cream on the beach. With a flake of course. I like to use the flake to scoop the ice cream from the cone.
Food plans for today are porridge, yogurt and no idea about dinner. I had an oven chip but the last night. Not the best but it's all I fancied.

LaWench · 05/04/2023 10:51

SW 15.0
CW 14.10
3month: Goal 13.7

Really pleased with this🤸‍♀️, another 3 lbs and I get my first reward, some new hair straighteners. Good luck everyone. 😇🤜💪🥗

Xmasfairy86 · 05/04/2023 11:02

Well done on the losses recorded 👏🏽
I’m not weighing just yet… giving it a month and see where I’m at!

Managed to get out twice for walks yesterday, hit my 10k steps - which is unheard of for non school days - and didn’t feel like I over indulged! and managed over 2 liters of fluids.

My focus now is protein intake.

Beanniebaby22 · 05/04/2023 11:03

Morning everyone! Lost another 2 pounds this week.

SW - 16 stone 4.5 lbs

CW - 14 stone 4.5 lbs

So happy to finally hit 2 stone lost 😁 🥳

Interim TW (Sept 2023) - 11 stone

heinztomatosoup · 05/04/2023 11:25

Thanks for the lovely welcome.
I have successfully done a VLCD in the past but problem is it always goes straight back on. Need to break the cycle and maintain weight loss, although tbf need to achieve it first.
Also in early 50s so it's getting harder.
Need to include more exercise-walking, enjoy Zumba and Pilates

Lionnose · 05/04/2023 13:04

Hi All, still here but not weighing as I'm not in a good place. Bingeing too much. Just can't sort myself out. Reading all your words is motivation so I just need to keep reading, not leaving it 5 days and then catching up. I will try to keep up over the next few days and see if that helps. Have a great week everyone. Keep it up to all you losers xx

buzzofthebumblebee · 05/04/2023 18:31

Oops. Totally forgot it was Wednesday today, so no WOW stats from me.
Struggling with tiredness from doing too much (work and play), and feeling rather lazy. In all honesty probably just need a good rest and recharge, which I shall do over Easter weekend, with hopefully not too much giving in to tempting treats. Will go out for a bike ride if weather stays good - maybe even a swim too. Had enough running for a little while ; )

Puffalicious · 05/04/2023 19:37

Hi all, well done to the losers and keep on keeping on to the maintainers/ gainers and strugglers.

1lb loss this week. My usual crawling pace, but it's in the right direction. 🐢 🐢 🐢

SW 13st
CW 12st 13
TW 10st 12

Least I'm in the 12s again!

Food decent today -1100 cals and stuck to IF.

Puffalicious · 05/04/2023 19:38

Sorry SW 13st 2

TheRealHousewife · 06/04/2023 09:16

Good Morning

I didn’t get the opportunity to post yesterday as out and about and had a couple of appointments. Physio one didn’t go to plan really and they have referred me back to neurology (which I’m already an outpatient). So it’s a waiting game. Considering going private but ultimately it means someone else would have to wait a bit longer which doesn’t seem fair. I’ll see how it goes.

WOW-Is having a joke. My loss = no loss which is in fact another gain 🥴

Commiserating with the gainers and I'm cheering for the losers. Just keep at it ladies. See if you need to switch things up a bit:-

Reminders

  • Get quality sleep
  • Eat enough protein
  • Get the fibre in
  • Healthy fats are not the devil
  • Stay hydrated
  • Move more if you can
  • Reduce sugar/alcohol/carbs
  • Aim for a variety of 30+ veg & fruit weekly
  • Include beans & pulses
  • Look at portion control
  • Plan your menus
  • Don't drink your calories
  • Avoid highly processed foods - prep fresh if time allows
  • Eat enough enjoyable & healthy foods to sustain you.

Morning all. Really annoyed this morning because I'm feeling worse and I did get on the scales when half asleep but can't remember what they said except 57 something. Staying the same essentially which considering the complete lack of exercise is a miracle.
Sending support for those who are not getting anywhere fast at the moment. I've decided not to bother logging anything until Tuesday. I've promised the children we will do some baking and a roast dinner. I didn't enjoy the last roast dinner I made at all and really don't fancy it but I've promised and it's dd's favourite. I'll eat the roasted carrots, roast potatoes, stuffing, roast parsnips and peas and cranberry sauce. I've gone off Yorkshire puddings. I'm going to make chocolate Rice Krispie cakes, individual mini egg cheesecakes (that way I can not eat a massive slice) and old fashioned school cake, oh and mini egg tiffin. Lots of things so I hope they eat them! My rather estranged eldest is coming to dinner and that's a source of huge anxiety but also it will be great to have her here. I'll send some of everything back with her so it's not here looking at me.

Cinema on Saturday with my lovely mum.

Maybe the big smelly city on Monday.

What's everyone's plans for Easter?

Lionnose · 06/04/2023 14:15

I decided to measure my waist today to see if that motivates me at all. I’ve not been great today but I’ve only had breakfast and lunch no snacks and I’ve drank more water than usual so I’m happy with that. Hope I can keep this up without binging

Ninjachicken · 06/04/2023 18:49

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It was a nice day barring a massive fight with DH in the evening! Subsequently not been feeling great this week but going to weigh in tomorrow to keep myself accountable.
well done to everyone who has lost this week and encouragement to anyone not where they want to be
mindset is so important!!!!!

DancingDoll · 06/04/2023 19:58

Couldn’t resist an open haribo bag today 🙈 At least I didn’t eat the whole lot and I tried to limit the damage by having a smaller dinner and won’t be having anything to eat with my evening cuppa…

AutisticLegoLover · 06/04/2023 21:48

@Ninjachicken I'm sorry you had a row on your birthday

@DancingDoll I used to curse that lots of sweets were not veggie. Now they are I curse them even more because I can and will eat them! Most Haribo aren't veggie so I'm safe from them at least although I love the little Balla Bites. M&S caterpillar sweets are my ultimate treat. The raspberry and milk ones. They are foamy and delicious. Since being pregnant with ds I've had a thing for sweets. I go off chocolate when pregnant along with most other food but sweets were like crack and still are. I'm amazed I only have one filling 😱

Well, a pair of pyjama bottoms I've had a good while we're getting loose but I figured the elastic had just worn. I've put them on tonight and there's not much chance of them staying up. A nice NSV there. I'm going to have to get some new pyjamas anyway for the summer. I'd live in pyjamas if I could. My face is definitely slimmer. I have quite petite features anyway but my face looks neater now if that makes sense. Hoodies that were rather full at the belly now have empty space. Thank goodness for Vinted where I can sell stuff that's too big and still in good condition or just replace stuff that's worn out and too big without it costing me a fortune. It's nice to be able to wear things in my wardrobe that I'd given up on. This summer I will be a good healthy weight instead of being overweight. I will eat my ice cream without judging myself and suspecting that I am being judged for my perceived gluttony. Sure my boobs have shrunk but in the grand scheme of things it's a small price to pay.

Thinking of NSVs. I'm going to add a NSV each Wednesday to my weigh in details. No matter how small that victory might be, I'll add it because it's not all about weight, it's about being healthier for life and I need to remember that.

Beanniebaby22 · 06/04/2023 22:40

@AutisticLegoLover That’s a good idea about looking at your non scale victories!

Think at one time or another we’ve all been guilty of becoming so fixated on the number on the scales that we forget to look at all the other positive changes happening.

A number on a scale is definitely not the only measure of success on this journey!
