☀️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer☀️

⭐️Open to previous members as well as new members⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

That last little bit is a much more of a hurdle than any of the "big" losses. I've been yo-yoing within the same 1kg for weeks. It's gradually ticking down: my Wednesday weight this week is my lowest yet but it's taking forever.

You'll get there.

Remember that thigh gap and don't be disheartened !
@AutisticLegoLover

DownUdderer · 26/04/2023 05:38

Hi everyone. Sorry to read about poorly kids and insomnia etc. (I listen to podcasts or audio books at night and I soon drift off to sleep, it really helps me not to get stressed that I'm awake as the stress wakes me up more).

I'm trying to not have sugary snacks this week, no chocolate or sweeties, no cake. I just need to get my brain re-set this first week of trying to lose weight. I think I'd been in a sugar haze, wanting sugar and then having sugar crashes and going around in circles.

I need to charge my Fitbit tonight and then get back to counting my steps this week.

I've tried on my size 12 jeans and I'm about an inch and a half away from being able to button them up! I'll be so happy and relieved when they fit me again! I've got a few tshirts that are too tight on the sleeves and when they fit again I'll be really happy! Honestly I have so many clothes that don't quite fit me at the moment.

This evening I have some soup in the fridge that I'll heat up, nice and filling and loads of veg.

Bumblebeehum · 26/04/2023 07:04

Good morning everyone, I haven’t logged in for 2 weeks (have been unable to weigh), so sorry to hear of those having a rough time.

This week I’ve lost 2lbs (but shall assume 1 of those was last week), which takes me to a total of 6lbs in April which I’m pleased with.

Sending good thoughts to all on WOW day xx

AutisticLegoLover · 26/04/2023 07:15

Morning all. Slightly down on the scales this morning but still higher than my all time low. I'm still in the 8s at 8 st 12 lb so all good really but I'll be glad to see the back of these last few pounds. I've got until June to shift it so I'm not stressing but I'm frustrated all the same.
Have a great day!

Bumblebeehum · 26/04/2023 07:20

Ah eek, just checked MFP and that says I only lost 2lbs in April, which is pretty rubbish (for me, long way to go and all that).

Hmm, must do better in May!

Ninjachicken · 26/04/2023 07:58

Morning all
62.7 kgs this morning so happy with that! I am not losing as fast as some of the reports I have heard from the fast 800 but at least the scales are moving again. And I am not finding it too hard to stick to though the amount of food is very small!!
i am going to keep at it!
nice to have you back @Bumblebeehum and well done on your April loss!
i hope things improve @buzzofthebumblebee and @ImALittlePea thinking of you both and sending positive thoughts
loving the sound of your menus this week @TheRealHousewife
keep at it @Weatherwax13 you are doing brilliantly!!
hello to all the newcomers and good luck!
I hope everyone weighing in today is happy with the results
i have started measuring my waist as well which is motivating. All my weight seems to end up on my stomach so it is nice to see that number moving finally
have a good day everyone

buzzofthebumblebee · 26/04/2023 08:04

Just checking in and realise its wednesday & I forgot to weigh. Duh. I'm a couple of cuppa's down, and fully clothed so too late. Oh well. That can only mean a gain !! A little all over the place (still) this week. Plodding on through.

Well done on losses this week. Wave to my fellow bumblebee.

Puff - hope your DS gets better soon. Very tough. As for the work situation - - I think age / tolerance has a lot to do with it ; ) But keep up the good work.

Insomnia is dreadful. No pearls to share Weather. I suffered very badly. (Different to you but I cured mine during Dry January .... mine was being fuelled by wine!).

Good luck to all the other WOW'rs. And welcome lovely new people.

buzzofthebumblebee · 26/04/2023 08:05

Cross post - thank you Ninja - well done to you too!

TheRealHousewife · 26/04/2023 08:10

Good Morning

WOW wise it’s bean a roller coaster this month but ultimately I’ve ended with a loss.

01.04.23 - 9st 8lbs
03.04.23 - 9st 10lbs
07.04.23 - 9st 11lbs
08.04.23 - 9st 10lbs
09.04.23 - 9st 9lbs
10.04.23 - 9st 10lbs
12.04.23 - 9st 9lbs
19.04.23 - 9st 6.9lbs
26.04.23 - 9st 6.8lbs

The next 10 days or so I’m going to have a reduced calorie intake to make wiggle room for the Coronation 👑😬

@DownUdderer Ive everything crossed for you and I’m sure you’ll soon be in your jeans!

@Bumblebeehum I think a solid 2lb loss is great! (Or is it 6lbs 😮) Do that month on month = nearly 2 stone lost over the year. If you’re near goal weight loss does tend to slow down a bit too. Well done on your progress to date 👏

@AutisticLegoLover Good walking distance! Well done on your loss too 👍

@Weatherwax13 Great progress! You’ll get there!

Menu
Meal 1 - Salmon Frittata & salad.
Meal 2 - Homemade veg soup.

Tea, black coffee & water

Exercise
Session 1 - full body stretch.
Session 2 - Hand weights/arms.

5 full days left until month end. Brace up, crack on and get in the right headspace; there is enough time to shave a bit more off 😬🤞

PS Can anyone see the photo I’ve attached? It’s flagged up sensitive at my end. I’ve previously emailed mn about it as it happens to most photos now. Yet to receive a reply.

Morning everyone! Can I join please? Long time mumsnet lurker 🙈 but need some support. Just started calorie counting.
SW: 12st
CW:11st 10
TW:10st 7

Signed up for Noom trial and still trying to work out if it will be useful. It's recommended my calorie intake should be 1300. Not following any particular diet plan at the moment, just trying to eat less! Looking forward to reading through the thread and picking up some tips😊 x

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 26/04/2023 08:33

People are doing so well on here.
I have hit 128.2lbs this morning and will fast until dinner to consolidate it.
I will join you in the 8's @AutisticLegoLover hopefully by the end of May.
I am in the sticky lbs area of weight loss now so it will be slow.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 26/04/2023 08:37

Morning all,
Still finding it hard to get back into the habit of posting and keeping myself accountable. I didn't weigh myself this week but I have been getting back into the habit of IF so hoping I will see some progress from that next week.
Lunch today
Halloumi wrap + fruit salad
Dinner - Roast beef with steamed veggies
Exercise- Crossfit class
Snacks - Hopefully none! my snacking has been the thing that's gotten really out of hand so trying to curb it

Hoolahoophop · 26/04/2023 08:45

Morning All,

My Second Wednesday with you all.

SW 58.2Kg
CW 57.9kg
TW 48Kg

A smaller loss that I hoped for (was lower earlier in the week but may be now carrying some monthly bloat!) But anything down is good.

I've also run twice this week which feels good. Hoping to get back to my three days a week. I try to do two 5k run and one 8k run when I'm focused

@conspiracyoflemurs I did Noom for a while last year. I liked it, but did get bored of the slightly obvious psychology after a while and stopped reading it. Then it because just an expensive calorie counter for me as I never engaged in the support groups. Now I'm back to logging on my fitness pal.

@Weatherwax13 my Dh suffers from insomnia. He has recently been drinking the Pukka Nighttime tea blend before bed and is convinced that is helping him a little......though it could be the not drinking alcohol that's helping rather than the drinking tea!

TheRealHousewife · 26/04/2023 08:59

Welcome to thread @conspiracyoflemurs I CC too and eat mainly a Mediterranean diet/2 meals a day. I don’t know much about Noom but I’m sure one of our members uses it or used too. If they see this message I’m hoping they will share their experience for you.

@Hoolahoophop Well done and you’re so right … anything down is good 👍

@Allthegoodnamestakken Your menu sounds tasty 😋 Here’s hoping you get back in the right headspace soon👍

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Fantastic! 👏👍

I don't drink so I can't blame the insomnia on that Wish I could! Thankyou so much for the suggestions

@Hoolahoophop

Ninjachicken · 26/04/2023 09:10

Thanks @TheRealHousewife and @buzzofthebumblebee
we are getting there slowly but surely!!!
interesting to see your flutuations through the month . I can see the stay calm and weigh on Wednesday photo on your post housewife

hello @Allthegoodnamestakken I have been doing IF the last couple of weeks and it does seem to be helping the scales shift for me !
Food today:
L: smoked salmon and chive omelette
D: maybe veg curry with chickpeas
snack: handful of almonds if needed
and 🍾🍾🍾

instantpotnoodle · 26/04/2023 09:57

SW: 73.8 (Feb 2023)
TW: 60
CW: 72.6

at the moment I’m aiming for more mindful eating (I have a difficult history with diets and MFP) and increased activity. I should see a relatively decent loss like this as my body naturally sits around 64kg without much trouble as long as I’m active and not eating excessively. And then I’ll decide if I want to dial it in further for those last few pesky kgs, depending on my headspace.

LeatherSkirt82 · 26/04/2023 10:38

My second WOW on this thread!

It was a good week - 2.9lbs down (30lbs total)! Only 4lbs until I'm out of obese category. Hopefully I can do that by May 10. I am about 1/3 in to my goal weight.

26/04: 202.1lbs
19/04: 205lbs
SW(27/01): 232.1lbs (OUCH!)
GW: 144lbs

Bikechic · 26/04/2023 11:27

I'm down another 1 lb since last week. Overall it's 2 lb loss in April so far, but hoping to make that another pound. Final push!
Yesterday's food-
B: Greek yogurt, mango, walnuts
L: spinach, smoked mackerel, tomato, three potato wedges reheated, fried onions (yes, I know I'm weird)
D: fish stew Inc rice, boiled egg
Snacks: cup a soup, apple, little bit of choc

Today
B: Greek yogurt, berries, walnuts
L: baxters carrot & Butterbean soup, apple
D: vegi chilli & rice
I'll take some chilli in a thermos on the train tomorrow. I need a plan to avoid buying food on the go.

I don't really do IF, but I have limited myself to not eating after 8pm. It stops me obsessing about what I might still be allowed in the evening.

Karatema · 26/04/2023 11:31

Congratulations everyone and keep going 😀
The keep going is what I'm telling myself because I haven't lost a gram!
I know why - had a boozy business meeting last Thursday; 4 glasses of white wine over a 6 hour period! I did ensure they were small glasses but alcohol is definitely what stops the weight loss. 🥲

instantpotnoodle · 26/04/2023 11:44

conspiracyoflemurs · 26/04/2023 13:45

Thanks @Hoolahoophop yeah I just started the Noom trial this week and am really only logging my meals, how much water I'm drinking and working through the activities. I have a habit of calorie counting obsessively for a bit then getting bored. Was hoping Noom would help me develop longer term habits. Thanks for the welcome @TheRealHousewife. Getting some great meal ideas!
I also really need to do more exercise but hate the gym and pretty much every exercise I've ever tried 😂 Going to try and do more walking which is the exercise I hate least!

Hoolahoophop · 26/04/2023 13:49

What about dance classes @conspiracyoflemurs I used to love that. Now I'm glued to the house with kids in the evening, its early morning runs for me (while DH sleeps in and 'watches' the children). But I quite like them. Just need to sort out my sad tummy which is STILL suffering from diastasis recti after 6 years and completing the Mutu course.

Bumblebeehum · 26/04/2023 14:45

Yay thanks @TheRealHousewife but it’s definitely only 2lb - and nowhere near goal (unfortunately). My numbers are similar to you @LeatherSkirt82 so hoping we can spur each other on a bit, I’ll be so happy to get out of ‘Obese’!

Waves to all the other new people as well as to my fellow bee @buzzofthebumblebee :-)

Food today has been:

Fibre cereal
Jacket, salad, low fat cheddar + snack bag of dry roasted (for proper protein amount!)
Dinner, I’m thinking Garlic Chicken Risotto - as everyone here likes that.
