Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Morning all, and special hugs to you Allthegoodnames doing what used to be the bare minimum when we haven't got our mojo can feel like a real uphill climb. I saw one of those 'inspirational' posts on fb the other day that said, If you only have 40% and you give 40%, then you've given 100%.

My primal lizard brain is still recovering from the weird deprivation panic and I've had a splurge breakfast. Quite enjoyed it although very full now and still got that 'I want something else' feeling, which is a lesson in itself I suppose.

Breakfast - water, coffee, tuna sandwich, protein ball, 2 pain au chocolat

Snack - tea, water

Lunch - yoghurt, oats, chopped apple and orange

Dinner - pork belly, veg and rice

SingaporeSlinky · 07/03/2023 10:01

Morning all. @AutisticLegoLover I know exactly what you mean, when I lost weight last year, it was 1.5 stone in 3 months so quite noticeable and people started commenting. This time because I’d only gone up and down half a stone, it’s less noticeable so no one has commented. I can see it in my own face and stomach though. But like you, I don’t really ‘feel’ different. Plus you see yourself from different angles to others, don’t you. So I still look down and see a jiggly belly (even though less jiggly than before). And then think well where is this weight coming from then? Obviously a little bit from lots of places, and not necessarily from where I’d choose, but there we go. It’s still less weight for me to carry around, improved fitness and stamina from exercising, and healthier nutrients for my body. Need to look at the positives.

Usual lunch and spag bol for dinner.

45 min pump class done and currently spinning.

Hope you enjoy the b'day celebrations in your household today Ninja. I'm still up 1 lb from the same a week ago.

Are you in pain with your tooth gone gin? Great that you've got a 4-week focus for your upcoming holiday. Off anywhere nice?

Agree with you all about loosing / finding mojo.

Hoping to stick to plan today:
E - 5k run
B - mushrooms, spinach, egg & spoon rice
L - chicken & roast cauli & veg (leftovers)
D - salmon & aubergine/red pepper/tomato bake

I munched my way through a whole packet of dates yesterday. Would have been better off with kitkats !!! I must stop buying them. Only looked up calorie content after. Very stupid mistake. Lots of water today.

ginsparkles · 07/03/2023 10:36

Thanks all. Yes the tooth is still a little sore. Got to love a huge extraction! But I did manage a full night without having to take pain meds a 2am.

@buzzofthebumblebee .... we are off to Sorrento! I'm so excited. I love it there. Have to search out lots of gluten free places to eat but I'm told that Italy is very good at accommodating it.

@Ninjachicken enjoy the fizz and cake! We'll be back on it tomorrow. We can find our mojo! It's just over there 👉!

TheRealHousewife · 07/03/2023 11:13

Hi @ginsparkles Sorrento sounds lovely. When do you go ? Apologies if you've already said.

@buzzofthebumblebee your menu sounds very tasty 😋

@Allthegoodnamestakken sending positive vibes. Losing isn't always easy but to keep bringing yourself back is winning 👍😊

Enjoy your day everyone x

@TheRealHousewife we leave on the 1st of April. Smile Italy is my favourite place! I love it

TheRealHousewife · 07/03/2023 11:18

@ginsparkles Do you have room in your case for a little one ... I won't take up much room and can manage on being fed once a day 😬 ☀️ 🏖️ ☕️

Morning all, I'm not sure I'm on track fully yet but I've started so guess thats a win. Saw Buzzofthebumblebee mentioned drinking loads of water and I have been trying to keep that up which is helping.

Cloudberries I agree about the changing body shape. My DH told me last night how great I was looking but I've put weight on. I feel a strange shape when I loose it so hope that after a while our bodies will redistribute.

I'm quite snack heavy at the moment as my evenings are often a bit all over the place. It worked well for me yesterday that I ate heavily in the morning because I didn't get time to eat dinner until 8.30 (which is my bedtime due to two terrible sleepers in the house).

Todays Menu,

Yogurt overnight oats with berries
Strawberries
Choc covered almonds, dried mango & coconut yogurt
Dahl with rice & 2 very small mouthfuls of wholefood chocolate hazelnut slice
Prawn curry
Lots of tea, coffee and water. I've dropped my milky morning coffee and just have a black one.
Running tonight hopefully if I'm not too exhausted

I hope that if I stick to this even though it's quite a lot of food it is better than what I'd usually eat and hopefully it's enough to make a start and then I can change things slowly as I go.

Gosh this looks like a lot compared with most of your menus!

ImALittlePea · 07/03/2023 16:21

Afternoon all

Sorry to have been MIA since last week, I was reading the thread but didn't get a chance to reply/post. I think everyone who is sharing is incredible, thank you for your honesty and insights. Food/eating habits/weight is such a tricky path to tread in modern society, especially when it comes to the next generation and what we pass on (or don't). I didn't have any disordered eating in my childhood, but my parents were both functioning alcoholics so I could relate to much of what was said but from a different place, IYSWIM.

Anyway, sending love, hugs, support and solidarity to everyone ❤️

We had a decent weekend, a lot better on the food front than the one before (no takeaways and far less snacking, for a start), but as others have also said I feel like I've lost my mojo. I'm trying to meal plan sensibly but when the time comes I just don't want the sensible meals. Or I CBA to cook. It's unlike me 😏 my body feels heavy, there's been some more emotional discussion with DH although I do feel that we've turned a corner (hopefully) now. We've decided we need to spend more quality time together, and given my absence of willpower on the dinner front that is resulting in an impromptu meal out tonight 🤦‍♀️

OTOH - done a decent amount of walking every day the last few days. Yesterday managed to clock up 12,500 steps, tomorrow should be similar as going shopping for new jeans and have a shift at work.

FULLY expecting another gain this week. Half want one in a weird way - it might sharpen my mind to get back on track?!

(Note to the weight gods - I'M JOKING! I DON'T WANT A GAIN!)

So this week's meals..

Monday lunch - poached eggs and beans on toast plus a bag of crisps (SEE! What did I say?!)
Monday dinner - homemade tortilla pizza and homemade chips

Today's lunch - cup-a-soup special
Today's dinner - depends on where we go to eat
I've had a handful of pringles and a few haribo this afternoon, and will probably (definitely 👀) have a glass of wine or two tonight.

TTFN 😊

buzzofthebumblebee · 07/03/2023 17:53

Big wave to Pea. Enjoy your dinner out ; )

SingaporeSlinky · 07/03/2023 18:09

So I’ve got 28 calories spare from my 1200 today. Someone tell me that’s exactly how many are in an Easter egg please? 😂
Chocolate cravings are strong today, think it’s because all the Easter eggs are on sale in the supermarket and various family members keep sending me money and asking me to buy some for the DC on their behalf. Now they’re filling up the cupboard. I keep having to tell myself that I’m not depriving myself forever, I can still eat chocolate. Just not every day.

On a positive note, my scales tell me today that my body fat percentage has gone down from 24.6% to 23.9%

AutisticLegoLover · 07/03/2023 19:46

Evening all. I'm sorry I can't remember all the posts but sending positive vibes and happy holiday vibes along with support for those with gains. It will go again, don't fret.
I'm not expecting a loss tomorrow. I've got PMT bloat for a start. I might be pleasantly surprised but I feel heavier in my belly and thighs so I doubt it.
If ds ever decides to settle down and go to bed I'll bounce on my ball and watch some tv for an hour or so then bed and book time.
Fingers crossed for us all tomorrow.

greenspaces4peace · 07/03/2023 21:06

thank you @TheRealHousewife , that's what i try and tell myself.
i was feeling very very sluggish on sunday, thought i might be coming down with something but i focused on better food choices (more fiber for one) and realizing i'm rarely where i should be regarding protein intake.
monday was much better and so far today is going well, i absolutely need to cut back on my 3pm snack (which has become both routine and calorific).
entering my food and i have 500+ for the rest of the day.
exercise is going well and the sunshine certainly is helpful.

Weatherwax13 · 07/03/2023 21:29

Weigh in Wednesday
SW 88.8
CW 79.4
Which is bloody aggravating as yesterday was 78.9. Why does this happen??
Means I'm up 0.2 from last Wednesday. Feeling quite down today but it's nice to read the latest positive posts on here. Well done everyone.

AutisticLegoLover · 07/03/2023 23:15

Coming in tonight at 1068 calories and I'm not sure how I've managed such a low one today but after eating far more than normal on Sunday it's balanced out. Im hungry now though but far too late to eat and I'm going to sleep. I'll look forward to my porridge in the morning. I've bounced on my ball watching and completed the workweek Fitbit bingo that started yesterday. I think my record is finishing by 3pm on a Tuesday. It runs Monday to Friday.

Thank you to whoever it is that posted they have chia with yogurt. I sprinkled some on today and enjoyed it. I prefer my porridge with them to without and find it strange how my tastes have changed recently. I'm totally in love with great yogurt. The Fage total 0% fat one, you get so much for so little in calories but a huge whack of protein and I find it really filling but not in an I ate too much way. The cherry compot thing I make is great. I did add sugar when I made it but one tablespoon over a bag of frozen cherries is good going compared to the added sugars of most yogurts. No nasty preservatives or flavourings either. I've dropped the honey now that I sweeten the cherries. It's a shame they are sour cherries but it's all Asda sell.

Sleep tight, see you for weigh in 😬

Allthegoodnamestakken · 08/03/2023 06:08

Morning All,
WoW today was 66.8 which is disheartening seen as last week I was down to 64.8kg I have drank a fair bit of alcohol in the last week though so hoping its that.
I have decided my new target is 62kg, as I keep hitting 65kg and then any fluctuation sends me above target so I figure 62kg will give me a nice buffer. Starting with the fasting again today and struggling although I always find the first couple of days hard when I get out the habit and then it just becomes second nature again so trying to power through until 12.
Lunch- Fruit salad, granola, honey
Snack - Cheese and grapes ( I want to try a high protein, high fat snack a few hours before working out and see if that helps my performance which always suffers when i'm dieting hard)
Dinner - Grilled chicken, baby potatoes and veggies

Allthegoodnamestakken · 08/03/2023 06:12

Forgot to do my tagging Blush @Cloudberries123 thankyou, that is a good way to look at it!
@ImALittlePea waving hello and hoping you enjoyed your meal out yesterday!
@Weatherwax13 keep going 0.2 is a tiny fluctuation and hopefully you will have dropped next week
@AutisticLegoLover Cherry compote sounds delicious, I love cherries although I haven't eaten one for years as I can't get them here and my trips home haven't coincided with cherry season in the UK.

greenspaces4peace · 08/03/2023 06:15

I spotted a fb reel for overnight oats.
claimed high protein, I had all the ingredients….looks and based on spoon licking will taste amazing…527 calories (I’ve just entered the info, I could cry).
i’ll absolutely need to be strong and only have half!!!

Fara22 · 08/03/2023 07:29

Well I'm a whole 0.5lbs down this morning, but it's also that time of the month, so im hoping it's actually more!

Pilates today. Otherwise a fairly sedentary day, so I shall make sure I go for a walk as well. This morning we will be heading outside to enjoy the snow!

Good luck to everyone WOW! Hopefully the scales reflect your hard work and careful choices.

SingaporeSlinky · 08/03/2023 07:32

Morning WOWers
2lbs down this week!

I looked at my weight logs on MFP as I was thinking I’d plateaued for a while, but it’s hard to see it objectively, especially as I weigh every day. So even 4 days of the same weight, or going up and down a little all week feels like no progress to me sometimes. But actually, when I looked at the weekly Wednesday weights, it was this…

18th Jan - 9st 12
25th Jan - 9st 11
1st Feb - 9st 9
8th Feb - 9st 9
15th Feb - 9st 7
22nd Feb - 9st 5
1st Mar - 9st 5
8th Mar - 9st 3

I now have 3 weeks left until my holiday, and of course that’s not realistically going to make much difference in that time. But I know I’ve done well to lose 9lbs already, and at the start of last year I was 10st 7

TheRealHousewife · 08/03/2023 07:36

Good Morning Everyone

I had a feeling I’d gained a little after my holiday partly due to eating out and not moving as much but WOW … I mean wow as in good god wtf 😳 4lbs gain. No point awfullising it. It is what it is. I can’t imagine what it would have been if I’d not continued to be mindful 😬

@SingaporeSlinky I think you can have a sniff of an Easter Egg and be sure it won’t break your calorie budget 😬😅

Hi @ImALittlePea Lovely to read your update! I meant to tag you yesterday as I’d not seen you but I forgot. 🤞 for your weigh-in.

@Lionnose Tasty menu you posted yesterday 😋

Menu
Meal 1 - Cauli egg fried rice. Greek yogurt, raspberries & blueberries.
Meal 2 - Hake, carrots, broccoli, peas. Might do a sauce. Large orange.
Tea, black coffee and water.

If you’re up rather than down today, don’t sweat it. In the scheme of things it doesn’t matter. If your overall trend is down you’re winning 🥇

Well done to WOW losers 👍🥇👏

Cross posted … well done @SingaporeSlinky Fabulous solid progress 👍👏

@Fara22 Still a loss, well done 👍👏 Keep going 😬

@greenspaces4peace That does seem a lot of calories for oats. 40grams of unprocessed oats (straight out of the packet) are only around 150 calories. The recipe must have a lot of add ons. What are the macros?

Cloudberries123 · 08/03/2023 07:43

Morning everybody, 95.6 here today so a 100g loss 😂 Considering the week of strange eating, I'll take it.

Well done to all WoWers 💪🏻

Lionnose · 08/03/2023 08:43

Well done to all of you who have lost. I weighed only a few days ago so will wait until next week.

Realhousewife - cauliflower egg fried rice sounds amazing, I will have to give this a go. I like cauli rice but rarely do it.

Menu
Overnight Oats with yogurt and fruit
Peanut Butter cup, apple, dried mango, almonds
Ratatouille on Potato
Frankfurters (not keen on this idea but my DS wants it, I can't decide whether to join him and the rest of the family or to have something different. It's not my kind of food tbh)

Hope you all have a good day and stay strong. I've not had the best start as I was busy trying to squeeze in some playing in the snow with the kids before I started work at 7 so forgot to drink anything, meaning I thought I was hungry, meaning I've already had the peanut butter cup from my morning snack.
