Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Ah that's great RealHousewife I seem to have lost track of your numbers with all the February posts so seeing that you've had a real loss is great! Well done!

Goodish, good enough sort of WoW here, still in the 95kg bracket which was my (minimum) aim, but disappointed that giving up sugary snacks hasn't made a huge difference in a week 😆 I'm impatient!

SW: 100.4kg
CW: 95.7kg

Breakfast - 1x rye toast with cheese, coffee, mini lemon tarts (don't ask - a work situation! 😂)

Lunch is going to be a party situation so I'm deciding beforehand not to worry if I decide to have something sweet (avoiding past disordered habits by making a choice ahead of time that it's OK and it's not about keeping to a rule)

Focusing on staying hydrated in the afternoon.

Dinner - chicken and veg pasta

Welcome @WolfMother326 @NatM15588 @smokeyrabbit @Bikechic and any other newcomers I've missed! Looking forward to seeing your weight loss journeys unfold. 💪🏻

Welcome home @greenspaces4peace hope the weather was OK.

@slytherinabout 2kg in a week is amazing 🌞

gin and Singapore hope your kids get the schools they want!

@Allthegoodnamestakken sorry you've lost your mojo a bit. Would it help to focus on one easy, enjoyable thing like eating more colourful fruit and veg? Hugs

USaYwHatNow · 01/03/2023 08:44

Hi! I'd like to tag along if that's ok?

I have an event at the end of March, another in April, my birthday and a wedding in May and a holiday at the end of the year 😅

My baby is 6 months old and I'm currently still breastfeeding. I was pretty lucky (ish-was quite unwell) and went back to pre pregnancy weight within a couple of weeks of the birth, however I was overweight to start with, so would like to lose 2 stone by September to get back to my healthy, 'comfortable' weight.

The dream however, is to lose weight to help reduce my back pain, be able to run around after my little boy as he finds his feet, and to not feel like I have to check every photo of me and my boy to see if I look 'okay', I just want to be in the moment with him ❤️

I've tried over the last few months to kick-start. I've yo-yo'd between weights and it seems I get stuck at 13st 5lbs!! Possibly due to the breastfeeding? Who knows!!

I'm already a couple of weeks in and have been eating better, cutting out the chocolate, increasing veg and fruit, and exercising more, whilst still being careful with calories to maintain breastfeeding.

Looking forward to being held a bit accountable with the Wednesday weigh in!!

Starting weight 13st 10lbs
Current weight 13st 5lbs
Target weight 11st 10lbs

The dreaded 13st 5 lbs again... 😂

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/03/2023 08:46

Morning everyone. Checking in for March.

Not weighing-in today as I had yesterday totally - and intentionally - off piste. Complete derail from clean eating but fine for one day (Think cake with candles, champagne, chips, crisps etc). So I shall adopt tuesday's stats - and hope I get back there by next wednesday !!

SW 11 13
CW 11 3
GW 10 12

My challenge for March is to balance eating and weight loss with fuel for running. I (stupidly?!) entered a half marathon in April.

Good luck to us all in March.

Feel for you @Allthegoodnamestakken Keep checking in with us, if only to say hello? Flowers

Todaypicard · 01/03/2023 09:29

Hello all! and welcome.
well done you usaywhatnow for the breastfeeding. I’m breastfeeding my daughter who will be 4 next month. Be kind to yourself, your body is doing an incredible thing.

I have weighed today and sadly it’s higher than I thought I was… 76kg (thought I was 74kg, but hadn’t weighed for a while)

got a day off work today, admin and house cleaning to do. Hoping to get a dr appointment as been struggling with abdominal pain for about 6 months and a change in bowel habits (sorry tmi). On the triage list because they aren’t giving out appointments ?! Didn’t realise that was still a thing.

only just had breakfast- Greek yoghurt, raspberries, banana and a small sprinkling of home made nutty muesli

Brieandbeetroot · 01/03/2023 09:42

Morning all, thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife. I've been awol for a couple of weeks, I found the weighing, tracking and seeing no progress was derailing my motivation so took a step back and just focused on portion sizes, eating less of my danger foods and moving more.

And finally the scales have moved below 148 lbs!

Currently averaging 1/2 pound a week weight loss since 1st January - although it seems slow to me, with a starting BMI of 22, perhaps I shouldn't expect it to go much faster than that if I'm doing it healthily?

CW: 147
GW: 133

Good luck to all those weighing in today.

LadyWhistledownAteMyHamster · 01/03/2023 09:49

A newbie here, hope you don't mind me joining in. I have a lot to lose and I've really been struggling - meals are not the problem as we eat a healthy balanced diet, all cooked from scratch. But snacking has been my downfall. I've cut out all alcohol to help with the weight loss (even any booze stops me from losing weight). I have a big birthday coming later this year so I would like to be in a better position weight wise for my next decade...

SW: 103kg
GW: 70kg

I guess a good interim goal would be 90 and then see how we go. This month I'm going to try very hard to cut the rubbish - no cakes or chocolate, and try to up my daily steps.

Good luck all!

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2023 10:21

Well done to everyone who’s posted a loss this week, especially @TheRealHousewife whose numbers I also miss, although I know you’re generally maintaining.

9st 5 for me today, so no change since last week. I had a few weeks of losing 2lbs a week so I guess I’ve plateaued a bit. I had quite a lot of brown rice stir fry over a few days as well as a massive roast beef dinner because I was so hungry some days. So I guess it all added up and maybe stalled my calorie deficit for a while, despite the exercise. Last night my stomach was violently rumbling when I went to bed, following my tuna steak and spinach. I’d clearly got used to eating more again (didn’t take long!).

Lunch today greek yoghurt, raspberries, blueberries and granola again

Dinner will be butternut squash soup and garlic bread

My Dd got her 1st choice secondary (2nd choice on the application because I preferred the other one) so although I’m a little disappointed, she’s really happy.

45 min class done, 30 min gentle spin done.

Happy March, let’s have a good one!

WolfMother326 · 01/03/2023 10:36

@Todaypicard and @USaYwHatNow nice to see other breastfeeding mums on here. I still bf my 18 m o and it definitely adds to my hunger - especially now that I'm exercising regularly. I don't feel I can really diet but am focusing on healthier choices/fewer bad snacks. I don't want to stop til he's ready, but it definitely feels like my body is retaining some weight to help nourish him. He eats well but feeds a lot in the morning/at night. Upping my water intake has really helped!

Also a breastfeeding mum here too! DS2 is 6 months old. Hard to find the time for exercise but making the most of slightly more regular naps.

ginsparkles · 01/03/2023 11:08

@SingaporeSlinky .... we got first choice too. Hope the school turns out to be better than your expecting Smile

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2023 11:59

Great news @ginsparkles it’s stressful waiting isn’t it!

Forgot to set some goals for this month, so have had a little think.

I’ve got 4 weeks til holiday, so ideally I’d like to get down to 9st but realistically, 5lbs might not happen. But, I’m going to focus on weights and try to slim my shoulders a little more and get my arms toned up ready for summer. I might be brave and post some photos later for progress.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/03/2023 12:26

Congratulations on the schools. Such a stressful time. My eldest is 16 now and about to do her GCSEs.

It's lovely to see breastfeeders. Ds is 8 now but he was breathed until 4 years, Dd2 was 3.5 years, dd1 15 months. They all kept me in chocolate!

I've just prepped my veg for my fajitas and weighed and counted up everything. 2 veggie fajitas is 814 calories!!! I'll take the hit today because it's a healthy meal full of vegetables and I've been very very careful since coming back off holiday. I'll have to be careful with lunch and might end up eating some exercise. Stories but fajitas are my favourite and I've not had them for months.

Does anyone have any soup recipes they don't mind sharing? I can't decide what soup to make.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/03/2023 13:02

To update on that fajita surprise, I've inputted it all into MFP and I'm actually within my calories for the day even with the high calorie meal. I've tried the 0% Fage yogurt and I don't it as much as my usual but I do like it so that's 100 calories saved even with the added honey. Good job with those fajitas 😁

Fara22 · 01/03/2023 13:04

Fingers crossed for everyone and their school places! Such a stressful time!

I'm starting March as I started February 🤦🏼‍♀️

SW: 15 st 8
CW: 14 st 12
GW1: 13 st

No number goal as such for March. Just want to see the numbers start trending downwards....

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2023 13:10

@AutisticLegoLover what’s the calories coming from in fajitas, is it sauce or the tortillas? I thought veggie ones would be relatively healthy.

I buy 0% fat Tesco Finest greek yoghurt (or Waitrose if I’m passing) as it’s over 9% protein. Usually I’d stay away from anything ‘fat free’ because of them just adding more sugars, but my dietician friend compared the full fat with the fat free and overall the fat free was better. She was actually surprised how much protein was in them too. I don’t like plain yoghurt either, but once I’ve crushed my berries in it, and added granola I’m quite used to it now.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/03/2023 13:29

@SingaporeSlinky mainly the cheese and the two tortillas. I might have allowed for more sour cream and chives than I'll actually use. Same for the cheese. I've got the reduced fat sour cream and chive dip. I'll recalculate later when I've eaten it. I've weighed it all out now because I'm not wanting the dc thinking I'm any more weird about food than I already am. They won't have the same veg as me and will have the wraps with other things. Mainly cheese.

Brieandbeetroot · 01/03/2023 13:40

DD is 2 and a bit and still breastfeeding at night. It definitely makes me hungrier/thirstier if she has a hungry night. Also the lack of sleep/being woken up I'm sure impedes my weight loss progress.

SanFranBear · 01/03/2023 14:20

Hello everyone... determined to keep up with the thread this month so jumped on the scales raised morning which is unusual for me...

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 67.4kg
April GW: 66.5kg

I managed to lose a kg last month despite the ups and downs. Need to be a bit more mindful this month so shall see how I get on.

DS got his first choice secondary which was huge relief. DD also there which means my morning school run has suddenly got so so much easier (well, from September). Hopefully if we move again, it'll mean almost complete self-sufficiency for them both re travel.. woohoo!

Off to a concert with DD and two of her friends later up in London. Hoping traffic is kind and we get in but should be a good night as its the final night of the tour. Probably grabbing some food on the go so probably not a great day, diet wise, but will be back on it tomorrow.

Lovely to see you all - March is going to be a great month!

Cloudberries123 · 01/03/2023 17:42

Another breastfeeder here although combined with bottle and I'm quite lazy with it 😁

AutisticLegoLover · 01/03/2023 17:55

Okay, the fajitas worked out at just short of 700 and I'm stuffed. There was a lot of veg. Finishing up the day on 1526 and very happy with that.

greenspaces4peace · 01/03/2023 18:32

the weather improved as we drove both on our trip going and coming back.
but no joke almost 4lb gain
starting the month at 152.2
which will be restaurant salt and the result of hours upon hours of sitting.
i'm looking forward to this mornings exercise :)

AutisticLegoLover · 01/03/2023 18:41

@greenspaces4peace I'd bet that's all down to salt and will disappear in a couple of days or so. Fret not. I'm glad the weather improved for you.

greenspaces4peace · 01/03/2023 18:41

@Cloudberries123 the weather, well it's canada and we managed. home now with the jars and all is well.
@SingaporeSlinky generally once past april 7th the weather is typical spring (snow free but chilly).
b: oatmeal with fruit stew!! 164calories
