Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Realised today that I’ve not logged in all month, and surprise surprise I haven’t lost any weight at all in March.

Got to focus, got to get back on track. Remaining at 215lbs, my next mini target is only 5lbs away. Hoping to shake that before Easter!

<now I need to read the whole thread for inspiration!>

TheRealHousewife · 08/03/2023 09:04

@Lionnose The secret is to not over cook. It can go mushy very quickly.

Hi @Bumblebeehum welcome back 👍. It’s only the 8th so you have 3 weeks to play with 😬

Morning all. 58.4kg this morning.
Well done on the losses and keep going to the gains you can do it! I think everyone has done really well since the new year and it's natural to be flagging now. It's a lot of effort to sustain but keep going.

Brieandbeetroot · 08/03/2023 09:06

Good morning all.

Weighed in and maintained at 147. I'm actually really happy with that as am at the beginning ish of AF so normally I'd be feeling bloated/weighing in heavy so am hoping to see a little loss next week.

Just wondered for those wiser and more experienced: I'm seeing an average 1/2 pound a week loss. I started with a BMI of around 22 so I think 1/2 a week is probably a lot more realistic and maintainable than the usual 1-2 pound a week quoted. Or am I just in denial and should be working harder?

buzzofthebumblebee · 08/03/2023 09:13

11 1.75 this morning, so down 0.25. Not very trusting of that figure though, as scales showing 11 3 yesterday. Who knows what tomorrow will bring! But as you illustrate so well SingaporeSlinky downwards happen slowly and steadily - great loss btw!

Oh Bumblebeehum - you can do it. You can loose 5lbs in 3 weeks, but only if you really want to do it. Takes more effort (aka denial) than you think. But you will feel great after. Go for it. We've got you.

B - yoghurt & fruit
L - chicken & leftover roast aubergine / red pepper / tomato bake
D - salmon & baby potato & greens

No exercise today - official rest day - but I will do a long brisk walk (i.e. leave my old dog at home!).

ImALittlePea · 08/03/2023 10:00

Oh @ginsparkles I am so jealous of Sorrento! That's where we went on honeymoon ☺️

High fiving everyone who is weighing today. Loss or not, keep going!

DH and I had a nice meal out last night, had a pizza but only just managed over half of it!? Tbf, it was big, but I would normally get through it. Bit too much wine, oh well, but happy this morning in that we are starting to move forward from our recent issues. There's always next week to refocus if Friday goes as I expect it will - some things are more important. Perhaps I'll surprise myself if I can stay hyperfocused for the rest of the week 🤷‍♀️

Shopping this morning, need some new jeans as my existing 12s are too big now. Hoping that I fit comfortably into the 10s though; last time I went shopping was last May, I've lost 1/2 stone since then and I was almost - but not quite - in the 10s then. Watch this space for an update!

Meals
Unexpected breakfast/snack - had to come into a cafe to use the loo 😬 and ended up having a cheese and tomato muffin. Whoops!
Lunch - cup-a-soup and veggies, no cheese or crispbreads today though on account of the muffin
Dinner - spaghetti bolognese, nothing on the side

Wishing everyone a happy Wednesday 💗

Lionnose · 08/03/2023 10:03

ImaLittlePea - Sorry to hear about your issues, glad to hear you are moving forward and hope it carries on in that direction. Your dinner sounds lovely. Good luck with finding Jeans. I find it a nightmare to find ones that look good, fit and are comfortable.

Thanks for the cauli egg fried rice tip realhousewife!

ginsparkles · 08/03/2023 10:09

Morning all. No WOW for me, waiting for Friday and expecting a gain!

Well done @SingaporeSlinky !!

Hugs and solidarity for @Weatherwax13 and @Allthegoodnamestakken

@ImALittlePea and @TheRealHousewife .... Sorrento is one of my favs too! Promised the husband and child I wouldn't pick an Italian destination this year but ooooops!

Had a good start to the week but there may have been 2 glasses of pink fizz last night at the theatre! No distractions now though. In work today, had my cereal and cuppa. Have a salad packed for lunch with fruit to snack on, and a pea and ham risotto for dinner. Firm favourite in our house. One of the few non pasta dishes DD will entertain!

Tomorrow planning a long dog walk, so might spoil you all with a pooch pic or two if it makes anyone smile!

Well done to everyone stepping on the scales today. A loss or a gain, by stepping on, you’ve tried to be accountable and you’ll get there.

@TheRealHousewife no way have you gained 4lbs on your small frame in such a short time. I’m sure it’ll settle in a few days, must be water weight.

45 mins Body Tone class ✅
35 mins spinning ✅
Walk to and from the gym in the almost horizontal snow ✅ ☃️😆

Lunch - greek yoghurt, strawberries, chia, flax, granola
Dinner - chicken kiev, broccoli, leftover quinoa salad with pine nuts

TheRealHousewife · 08/03/2023 12:02

Actually @SingaporeSlinky you are right. I weighed again a couple of hours later (and I'd even had a cuppa) and I weighed nearly a 1lb less ... at that rate I'll be back to normal by bedtime 😅

OP posts:
Bikechic · 08/03/2023 13:41

WOW
1lb down again this week. Fairly steady going at 1lb per week. Total loss is 6lbs
CW: 11st 10lb
Im enjoying chicken Gumbo from my new 'pinch of Nom' cookery book

ImALittlePea · 08/03/2023 15:00

Jeans shopping was a success! Two pairs bought, both a 10 🥳 along with some jumpers. Tried on a dress and ummed and ahhed, didn't buy it and now have the major regrets.

Step count 4800 at the moment, should hot 10k with work tonight 😊

greenspaces4peace · 08/03/2023 15:22

okay @TheRealHousewife i did spot one entry mistake. Besides the oats, the yogurt and peanut butter are calorie dense.
I’ll enjoy half with veggie sticks or broth at lunchtime.

I'm on the app so can't get the gifs 😔 they sound like fun though.

I've lost track of everyone this week so I'm sorry if I've not commented on things.

I've walked 35 miles already this week and am so tired tonight. I was going to bed at 9 but then my mum phoned and we got chatting for hand an hour despite me seeing her for over an hour earlier today and having a good chat then. We always seem to be able to find lots to talk about. I was explaining the abilities of my Fitbit to her and she was totally amazed at how much something so small on your wrist can do.

The big question is: are we going to wake up to snow? I'm in the north west and we've had very fine snow on and off for most of the day but the big stuff is due tomorrow.

Who is it with the size 10 jeans? Sorry I can't remember which one of you it is. Where are they from? My latest are from Hush who have generous sizes so I squeezed into a 10 from there in the early autumn. I like jeans that sit just below my navel otherwise they dig in but most jeans seem to be high up these days. I stick to Vinted and eBay for styles I know work but am always on the look out for the perfect fit so I'm always interested in hearing about jeans. Can you order your dress online or go back and get it? I hate clothes shopping. I always look like a sack of spuds in everything no matter what my weight. 8 stone to 11 stone and still the sane sack of spuds.

Finishing up on about 300 calories less than my goal again today. Laziness mainly. Must make soup tomorrow.

Sweet dreams and a snow day for all those who want one 😊

TheRealHousewife · 08/03/2023 21:57

Hi @AutisticLegoLover Its @ImALittlePea in the size 10s. 35 miles, good grief no wonder you’re tired. I’m lucky if I do that distance in a year 😬. Well done on your NSV of size 10s too. I prefer higher waist jeans if I’m honest but then I’m not tall so even low rise come right up to my waist 😅 Pity you can’t see the gifs … they are fun!

Finished supper, the kitchen is closed 1042 cals despite the 400+ calorie “lunch”.
i’m more impressed by my fiber and protein intake 90%
I snuck wheat bran everywhere and anywhere conceivable as well as green lentils in my beef ragu.
i’m not wanting to jinx anything but my increased magnesium supplements are helping with sleep.
serious hike planned for tomorrow. Spiked boots and walking stick terrain.

AutisticLegoLover · 09/03/2023 07:10

Morning all
@TheRealHousewife thank you. @ImALittlePea please could you tell me where your jeans are from?
@greenspaces4peace that sounds amazing. I'd love that!

58.2kg this morning and apparently I've lost 10.5 pounds since the 9th January! I can't get my head round that but my records show it to be true. It just seems a lot in 2 months and it makes sense now that people have noticed although I wish they wouldn't comment

No blanket of snow 😔
