Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Thanks all, you seem so welcoming! We are off out for mother's day (just me and children)

ImALittlePea · 19/03/2023 09:45

Sorry missed your question @Bumblebeehum it was Strictly Ballroom. Unbelievably good, highly recommend! Maisie Smith in particular was amazing 🤩

Bumblebeehum · 19/03/2023 10:08

I bloody love that show @ImALittlePea (and film!), I saw it a few times in the west end with Will Young, who was superb!!

AutisticLegoLover · 19/03/2023 10:20

Good morning and Happy Mother's Day to all the mums. Welcome to @Hellenabe I'm glad you have joined us from your thread.

58.1kg today although still bunged up. If I could shift that I might even get into the 57s!

B: porridge
L: Greek yogurt and cherry compote and honey
D: probably soup again.

When clearing the living room last night of all ds's snack wrappers I decided I might completely cut out snacks from our shopping for the rest of lent. Fruit for snacks only. This will go down like a lead balloon but they cost a lot and the wrappers are a landfill issue. Homemade cookies would be allowed.

nameischangedagain · 19/03/2023 16:02

So far so good today.

Started the day with a walk and had....

B- yoghurt, fruit, cereal

S - 10 walnuts

L- seabass fillet, salad

S- protein bar

.... feeling slightly like I could eat and eat and eat tonight but I'm not going to. Can I have some words of motivation please?

Puffalicious · 19/03/2023 17:08

Thanks for the welcome folks!

Happy Mother's Day all. I'm missing my own mum and trying not to eat my emotions (lost her 9 years ago and I'm usually fine, so today was a shock that I feel so emotional. Had a good cry with DH, visited mam's grave, and I'm sitting watching crap TV- bliss) Succeeding so far, but DS1 (18) has made my favourite dinner- fish pie- and I'll need to try not to eat my weight of it🤣.

Have a great day all.

Put a nice photo of yourself when you felt at your best on the fridge/ cupboard/ as a screen saver.

Hang a favourite dress/ outfit/ pair of jeans that you feel are a little tight on the outside of your wardrobe.

Have a big cup of tea/ herbal tea and boiled sweet -seems bizarre but it stops my cravings for little calories.

Good luck.

nameischangedagain · 19/03/2023 17:57

@Puffalicious Thankyou, I'm going to do that. Just had a big smoothie bowl for dinner and managed to hit my 10k steps and now I'm switching off for the evening x

tulipsandteacups · 19/03/2023 20:02

How's everyone getting on?

Hellenabe · 19/03/2023 21:11

Hi, I weighed myself late afternoon yesterday and was 98.5, today morning 97.6 so must have been water weight lost. Loads of water today! Prepped a chicken stew today for the next few days. I'll have it with veg whereas the children can have potatoes and veg.

Hellenabe · 19/03/2023 21:15

Can anyone advise if OK to have say 2 eggs a day?

AutisticLegoLover · 19/03/2023 21:24

There's no limits on eggs. I'd eat loads if I could stomach them.

Food today:
B: porridge as usual
L: Greek yogurt, cherry compote, honey as usual
D: butternut squash soup and 2 petit pains as usual. Orange juice
S: some fennel Italian breadstick circle things

Calories: 1486. Miles: 5

I'm in lots of pain this evening with my lower abdomen. Endometriosis and constipation are not a happy combination so I'm off to bed with a hot water bottle and my book.

Hope you all had a good day and here's to a good week ahead. Don't forget your water. I've not been great at drinking enough water but have upped it the last few days.

AutisticLegoLover · 20/03/2023 06:42

Morning all. Here's to a good week and here's a good start with a weight of 58.05kg. Have a great day!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 20/03/2023 06:53

Happy Monday all, wishing you all a lovely week!
I met my exercise goals last week and did reasonably well on the food front apart from a burger king lunch yesterday which I regret as it really wasn't even very nice.
The goal for this week is to drink more water. Our weather is cooling down and I find I never drink enough unless it's nice and sunny. Working from home most days so I have put a 1.5l bottle on my desk and the aim is to at least finish that once during the working day.
@AutisticLegoLover that viaduct is beautiful, what a scenic walk. @ImALittlePea hope you're feeling better!
Also welcome to the newcomers!

@Hellenabe eggs are great! low calories and full of good nutrients I wouldn't say 2 a day is at all a problem. I go through love-hate phases with eggs and in a love phase easily eat 2 a day 5 days a week until I go off them again

Plan today
L- porridge, fruits, maple syrup
D- Spicy Chicken pitta breads

Exercise- A crossfit class and maybe some lunchtime yoga

TheRealHousewife · 20/03/2023 10:03

Good Morning All

Here's photos that I took when we arrived Friday; they failed to post on the day.

Weather loads better than forecast.

Menu
Totally off piste 😬

Keep going, you're all doing great!

Lionnose · 20/03/2023 10:09

Morning All,

Expecting a gain this week but it's my own fault for not knowing how to say no to people bringing cake to my house when I've invited them over for a cuppa so I know what's gone wrong. I also haven't been on track with my exercise as I can't ever seem to find a balance with everything in life. I can either manage food & exercise or spending enough time with the kids & husband or seeing friends enough or getting the shopping done or finding time for myself to do my hobbies. One day I will find the balance. But I'm not going to beat myself up, I'm going to pick myself up and just keep trying. This isn't a race. I don't have to get to goal immediately and I know that this thread will help me get there even if it's a bit of a yoyo and even if it takes a long time.

Todays Menu
Chocolate Chia Pudding (I wasn't a fan but the kids loved it) with strawberries and raspberries
peanut butter cups
sweet potato with bean chilli
something out of the gousto box (it hasn't arrived yet so no idea)
I'm going to try to hit my apple watch goals every day this week (30mins exercise & 460kcals)

How are you feeling now @ImALittlePea

@Bumblebeehum love the idea of a mint after dinner, I might steal that one

@nameischangedagain I hope you managed to stay strong last night

@Puffalicious I'm so sorry that you had a hard day on mothers day. I can't imagine how that must feel. Sending 💐

@AutisticLegoLover I hope you feel better soon, that sounds horrible - What are you reading?

Have a good day/ week all

Lionnose · 20/03/2023 10:09

@TheRealHousewife I wish I was where you are!

ImALittlePea · 20/03/2023 11:37

Yes it's a brilliant show @Bumblebeehum would see it again in a flash!

I hope you're feeling better this morning @AutisticLegoLover

@Allthegoodnamestakken @Lionnose still a bit wobbly (not helped by DD not letting me sleep until gone midnight last night 🙄) and very bloated, but ok other than that, thank you.

@TheRealHousewife beautiful pictures - I hope you're having a lovely time away!

Trying to wrap my head around this week. Got to get my shifts and plans sorted, and meal plan, but all I want to do is sleep! So no food plan as yet, will update on that later. Managed a decent walk this morning though, which is a positive start.

SingaporeSlinky · 20/03/2023 12:28

Afternoon all. Haven’t posted for a few days and feel it’s all gone to pot. Had Chinese takeaway on Saturday and could see my face was slightly puffy the next morning. Something I wouldn’t have noticed before, but now I’m so conscious of what I’m eating, I noticed it straight away. Did an LBT class this morning and I swear I could smell the takeaway sweating out of my pores. Need to flush it out of my system today. Also had a few mini packs of mini eggs - knew I’d crack before Easter! But had the weekend off of logging on MFP, with Mother’s Day as an excuse. Back to it today.

Lunch - skyr, raspberries, granola and seeds
Dinner - tuna steak in ginger and soy on a bed of spinach

If I can resist snacks today, I should be very low calorie today so that should restart and set me up nicely for the week.

Carolinedogwalker · 20/03/2023 13:32

Hi guys! I’m still here lurking away! Fell off the rails a bit at the weekend, but back on it today! Weigh in day tomorrow, so keep everything crossed for me. Todays dog pic is of my very own gorgeous labradoodle, Holly xx

Cloudberries123 · 20/03/2023 14:21

Happy Monday everybody, checking in again after the whole household going down with a bug for a few days. Only just starting to feel rehydrated and wanting normal food so will chill for another day and do a sneak peek weigh-in tomorrow, ahead of Weigh on Wednesday.

Breakfast - takeaway coffee, 1 slice sourdough toast, tea, water

Lunch - Greek yoghurt, muesli, flaxseed, blueberry jam. Apple. Tea, lemon soreen bar

Snack - pistachios

Dinner - quick pizza and salad as DP is working away

MKD1 · 20/03/2023 17:01

Hi All,

Didn't have a good week last week, not weighed myself as I know it will be another gain. Planned to wake up early this morning to do a quick workout but I didn't get to sleep till 3am so I'm just exhausted!

Loving all the pics! I've attached a photo of my cousins toy poodle......I'm on the hunt for one myself! Never had a dog before so I'm excited.....I'm still broody but don't think I can manage another human child....so I'm opting for a dog instead!

If anyone knows of any toy poodle breeders please let me know!

It's hubby's birthday tomorrow so hoping to go for a nice healthy lunch, will get to bed early tonight and start fresh in the morning!

ImALittlePea · 20/03/2023 18:33

Good evening!

Meal update for the day:
Lunch - the norm (cup-a-soup, veggies (lots of cucumber, mixed peppers, cherry tomatoes), a dairylea triangle, cheddar and black pepper crispbreads)
Dinner - 2 sausages, crushed new potatoes, peas, brown sauce
Snack - banana, many teas

Close to 10k steps for the day, not bad after the weekend I just had! Feeling tired but happier, and feel like I've achieved some semblance of normality today.

AutisticLegoLover · 20/03/2023 19:08

Just a quick post to say I can see my collar bones! Just the right amount to not look bony, but visible. I'm wearing a scoop neck top instead of my usual T-shirt so maybe that's why I can see them. My
Hope are back to being 36.5 inches. My waist is still sadly 31"😔 but that is the end of the day and bloated so maybe not so bad. I measured myself in lockdown and can't remember the measurements which is really annoying. Dd has told me I'll never have small calves because I walk too much. She has a point. I need those muscles to get me up hill.

buzzofthebumblebee · 20/03/2023 20:52

Lovely pooches. Nice distraction from food!! I've got major sugar cravings today - most probably as I had wine and pudding yesterday for mothers day - 1st sugar in a while. Oh - had chocolate too. Can blame hormones as well. Thought I'd be past it all now at 51, but seems not. Haven't given in to the cravings yet today. May have to have early night to keep well away from kitchen. Hadn't thought I'd done much by way of exercise today, but seems I have managed 10k steps. 10 days left in March too. Determined to get into the 10s by the end of the month. NO SNACKING (to me)
