Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

hello again
ongoing struggles with the best food choices BUT as is more typical of me exercise is going well.
i've been able to restart e-bike riding as the roads are dry (still sand/pea gravel along the edges).
hoping to get into the counting calorie zone soon.
hang in there everyone.

Weatherwax13 · 21/03/2023 02:02

We just found my beautiful dog after she escaped from doggy daycare. 48 hours tramping through the bush. She's fine apart from dehydrated. The fear was terrible and I thought we'd lost her.

Didn't have time to eat but have just demolished a kindly provided breakfast! Such relief

greenspaces4peace · 21/03/2023 02:22

what a beautiful pup @Weatherwax13 , i'm glad she's home safe and sound.

Weatherwax13 · 21/03/2023 05:12

Thankyou.
@greenspaces4peace
People here were amazing but it was incredibly stressful. We were away for the weekend and had to dash back. One thing after another!
Trying to look on the bright side I think I walked around 50km so I'll have burned a few calories😀And much of that was fairly intense hiking.

AutisticLegoLover · 21/03/2023 06:45

@Weatherwax13 that must have been incredibly stressful. I'm glad she's safe now and has hopefully learnt her lesson not to escape.

@greenspaces4peace keep going, you'll get there.

Well, a bit of a shock this morning with a weight of 57.65kg! I hoped to be just into the 57 bracket but never thought I'd be close to the middle of it! Not long until I'm in the 8 stone range and that's something that seemed totally unachievable.

Have a great day!

Hellenabe · 21/03/2023 06:57

@AutisticLegoLover well done! Amazing achievement!!!

I'm one day into cutting back now

Starting weight : 98.5
CW : 97.1
GW : 83
Lost 1kg since Saturday! Must be water weight

Remindmeofababe · 21/03/2023 07:07

How have I never found you lovely lot before?!
So many of your posts have resonated as I have read through. Thank you for all your honesty. Really like the idea of of a weekly weigh in rather than a daily one. I tend to get a bit hooked on the scales.
Usually feel motivated in March but not this year. More no-go than mojo!

Current weight 10st 4
Target 9 st 7

I seem to lose and regain the same four pounds over and over again.
I intermittent fast, but don't really calorie or carb count.
Need to up the activity, especially now as the mornings and evenings are lighter.
Thanks again for inspiring me to make a step to be more accountable.

AutisticLegoLover · 21/03/2023 07:11

@Hellenabe thank you and well done on your loss. The beginning is often encouraging and that's a great boost so keep going, you can do it.

I'm just thinking that my birthday is in 12 weeks or so and for once I'll have given myself the gift of being a good weight. Something I promise myself most years for Christmas and birthdays but never manage. I'm not decided on my ultimate goal yet but around 54kg. I'm just worried about maintaining that weight once I get there.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 21/03/2023 07:30

@TheRealHousewife that looks lovely, have a fabulous trip!

I am loving all the pooch pictures and am very glad yours is home safe and sound @Weatherwax13 what a worry that must've been. My pack are currently sulking because they want to go out but its raining and even though the door is open if they really wanted to they're a bunch of princesses who couldn't possibly get wet.

Well done on the loses @AutisticLegoLover and @Hellenabe
@Remindmeofababe welcome and I hope we can help you find your mojo, I also intermittent fast but don't really count calories. I am currently in a bit of a stall but before that I managed to loose 11kg without counting so it can be done.

Plan for today
L- all the scraps from the fridge before the food shop arrives later
D- Braised beef, maybe with mash, maybe as a ragu over some pasta or maybe I will go very fancy and make gnocchi if I have time

TheRealHousewife · 21/03/2023 07:35

Good Morning Everyone

Yesterdays main. Steak, salad, tomato and frittes. I only has a few frittes. It was delish 😋

Morning!

Just a very quick one (as running typically behind) but wanted to say a quick welcome to @Remindmeofababe (fab user name btw!) and also that I LOVE that way of seeing things @AutisticLegoLover - our journey to becoming a lighter, leaner and healthier version of ourselves is absolutely a gift we are giving ourselves ❤️

Will check in properly later!

ginsparkles · 21/03/2023 08:32

Hi all, not in a good head space. In a permanent grump, veering from tears to rage regularly and rarely feeling happy. Painfully aware that the family are treading eggshells but no idea how to clear the funk. I suspect it's peri, have a phone appointment with the nurse next week.

Consequently food choices are necessarily the best but so far seem to maintained through the Mother's Day weekend.

Sorry for the grumpy grumbly post. Not sure the point of it, just needed to write it down

Cloudberries123 · 21/03/2023 08:47

Hey gin sorry you're not feeling great. Can you make a GP appointment to talk about hrt if you suspect it's peri? Sending self-compassion and strength!

Welcome @Remindmeofababe you're in good company here! Looking forward to following your journey.

What a relief to find the dog Weatherwax 😢 I would have been out of my mind with worry

Happy with my sneaky weigh-in today, back into the 95s with 95.3kg. I think being ill for a few days has reset my bad food mood as well, I'm feeling much more motivated and want to crack on and be healthier for my daughter. (And to attempt to look less pregnant on the beach this summer 😂 I had a bit of a moment when I realised it's now spring!)

Got to run, but hope to catch up more later.

Happy Winnie The Pooh GIF

Hi @ginsparkles sorry to read your update. I think you’ve done the right thing in arranging an health appointment. Fingers crossed you find some relief ❤️

Welcome to the thread @Remindmeofababe @Hellenabe 👍. You’ll both fit right in with these lovely ladies 😊

@Weatherwax13 how frightening for you all. Pleased she’s back safe and sound. Lovely pic!

@MKD1 Lovely pooch! Good luck on your puppy search.

@Carolinedogwalker You have a grand dog there 🐕! So proud looking.

@SingaporeSlinky We all ebb and flow with our commitment… I’m on holiday and it’s all gone to pot. Still on holiday but feel ‘blurrr’ due to too many carbs which I don’t usually have. Shopping for salad stuff today to have with pan fried chicken later. You’ll soon be back on it.

@greenspaces4peace Sending positive vibes ❤️

@Cloudberries123 Great to read you’re all recovering and feeling better!

@ImALittlePea Impressive step count !

Menu
Meal 1 - Salad and pan fried chicken.
Meal 2 - ?
Tea, black coffee, water and a glass of red.

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone, rushing before heading out. Enjoy your day!

Thanks both, I keep trying to stop being such a grouch but it's a fuzzy cloud following me.

But the doggy pics brightened my mood Smile maybe I need to just be at home with my dog and a vat of chocolate !

AutisticLegoLover · 21/03/2023 09:56

@ginsparkles Flowers I hope your mood lifts. I find blasting out my favourite songs and singing along or going for a long walk really help blast the grumps away. Burns calories too😊

Blips are just blips. They don't define us or make or break our healthy plan. Just keep going forward and things will get back on track soon.

Fara22 · 21/03/2023 11:01

Just had a lovely morning catch up on this thread - loving all the dog pics!

Have been awol the last two weeks as had a work crisis, which has been resolved thankfully! My event went well this weekend and I felt good in my dress.

Haven't assessed the weight damage of the last two weeks! That will be a joy for Wednesday morning 🤦🏼‍♀️ well done everyone who is keeping on, keeping on!

My long term intention is no more short term goal setting! It just stresses me out too much.

ImALittlePea · 21/03/2023 13:06

Right - got 5 mins to check in properly.

@Weatherwax13 glad to hear doggy's been found safe and well!

Sorry to hear about your current funk @ginsparkles I know it doesn't really help much but it is totally normal to feel trapped in the grumps sometimes. I hope the nurse/GP can provide some practical help for you and you start to feel better soon ❤️

Well done on your weigh ins @AutisticLegoLover @Hellenabe @Cloudberries123

Waving at @Allthegoodnamestakken and @greenspaces4peace @SingaporeSlinky @Fara22 @TheRealHousewife 👋

Today's meals
Lunch - needed a change, so made a cheddar, pepper and spring onion quesedilla. I did make a cup-a-soup to have with it, but it's a different brand and was not nice at all, so I'm glad I'd made something more substantial as well!
Dinner - spaghetti bolognese, side salad
Snacks - hopefully just tea, I'll grab an apple if I need something more

TTFN!

Ninjachicken · 21/03/2023 14:56

Hello, I am feeling more motivated today, nearly done my 10000 steps and going shopping later so it should be no problem. My fast 800 book has still not arrived which I am finding annoying. It’s been 8 days !
I need to stop baking sourdough because I eat too much of it with butter but I do love making it, it really relaxes me

@TheRealHousewife love your pics, holiday looks fab!
@Weatherwax13 i cannot even imagine. That must have just been so awful. You must be so relieved! At least you got loads of steps in!!!
@MKD1 and @menomonster a dog is always a good idea! I have two kids but got really broody around my 40th birthday. I ended up with three dogs and a cat 😁
sorry you are feeling low @ginsparkles

big hello to everyone else! It’s a marathon not a sprint remember 😁

i think I may have sushi for dinner and going to try and up the veggies and lay off the wine
picture of things I keep making but really shouldn’t be 😂

@ginsparkles

Weatherwax13 · 21/03/2023 16:55

That looks bloody amazing! Wish I was in the UK, I'd send you my copy of the Fast800 book. You can find a few of the recipes online in the meantime
@Ninjachicken

ImALittlePea · 21/03/2023 17:58

Omg @Ninjachicken can you be my mum please? 🤤😁

Ninjachicken · 21/03/2023 18:33

Thanks guys!! I’m not actually in the uk either @Weatherwax13 probably why it’s taking so long!!!!

AutisticLegoLover · 21/03/2023 20:24

@Ninjachicken I love sourdough but have never made it. They looks delicious!

Good day here. 1546 calories in. 11 miles walked. I'm always wary of having a salty or heavy food day before Wednesday weigh in. I doubt I'll top today's weight though. That whoosh was a big surprise. Off to bed with my book. It's a Nora Roberts one for the poster who asked. Sorry I can't remember who and it was a while ago so apologies for not replying sooner Blush I love books. I'd rather read than watch tv unless there's something really good on. It's not easy to read and bounce though 😬
