Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Hi All,

Had a better day today than yesterday. Need to take each day as it comes. How do you all manage with work, kids and getting exercise in? I find I don't have time in my day to do anything!!

AutisticLegoLover · 17/03/2023 23:49

Thank you for all the support 🥰 I felt much better once I'd walked up in the sunshine to help my mum. Although I've had a hungry day today so feeling guilty about eating so much. Apart from some sweets I've eaten reasonably healthily. Lots of Greek yogurt and cherry compote and honey, quorn spaghetti bolognese for dinner. Too many snackajacks. Satsumas. I've had lots of protein today! Some days I think we just need to eat more. Tomorrow I'll be back to normal. I hope!

Lionnose · 18/03/2023 05:07

@MKD1 I’m using the 3 months free of Apple fitness they have a lot of 10 min workouts, I mostly use the hiit and Pilates. The Pilates I can do with the kids. They either join in or climb all over me. The hiit I try to do when they are distracted playing with something or just after they’ve gone to bed. I’m very impressed with the amount of exercise some of the others do on here!

AutisticLegoLover · 18/03/2023 09:13

@MKD1 I don't drive and have little choice about all the walking I do. My ds's school is 1.25 miles away. My mums house is just over a mile away but the opposite direction to school. So I walk ds to school and then walk home, walk round the shops on the way back home, walk up to mum's, do all the jobs there, walk home, walk to school to get ds and walk home again. Today ds has swimming but with the train strikes we are getting the bus. There'll be a couple of miles involved in that and I need to go to the shops before we go there. Tomorrow we will walk to my mum's along the canal so the long way which is about 2 miles then come back either the sabe way or on the road. I live in a hilly place so those miles are often hard going. If I watch tv I sometimes bounce on my exercise ball. I also live in a town house and I'm up and down stairs a lot.

The damage from eating too much since Wednesday is minimal at about 600g. That will soon go I hope. I feel bloated and my digestive system isn't very happy at all so back to the usual foods today.

I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

menomonster · 18/03/2023 09:18

Good morning all!

I am trying to post every Saturday, so here we go. I think I have slightly plateaued at the moment, I weighed every day this week (usually only weigh on Saturdays), and was exactly the same every morning. This is sort of not bad as before that there had been a slightly tendency to go in the wrong direction. BUT - I am finding my clothes feel looser and I was able to wear a pair of work trousers this week that I decommissioned a while ago, so I am very happy. I have also progressed with exercise - some simple Yoga exercises at home and a lot of walking again. Definite improvement with the knee.

@Ninjachicken and @ginsparkles I am not normally a massive fan of dogs, but yours could change my mind! They are gorgeous.

@TheRealHousewife @Lionnose and all other losers, that is good to hear. For the others, hang on in there, perseverance does seem to pay off.

@Weatherwax13 here's sending you hugs to deal with the stress with your DD. Sounds so difficult.

@MKD1 I have been struggling to find time for exercise too. I have started doing short online Yoga videos at home, and I try to walk at much as possible instead of driving/bus, but it is difficult. I also got a few free months of Apple fitness that @Lionnose mentioned, and have been eyeing up the short workouts, sounds like it could be worth a try.

So, have a good weekend all! The spring is coming.

Hi everyone hope you all have a great weekend! A 2lb loss again for me today so thats 4 this month so far. Managed to get at least 10k steps a day this week despite the snow on monday and tuesday glad thats cleared up! Ive gained some inspiration from the meal plans on this thread and looking forward to trying some new things 😊

AutisticLegoLover · 18/03/2023 13:20

My meals take me to 1292 today. That gives me some leeway if I'm still hungry.

AutisticLegoLover · 18/03/2023 13:44

Some photos of our gorge walk to swimming.

Hi all,

Can I sneak back in? I'm a previous thread loser, but peri- menopause has affected my weight hugely, so I need to do something about it!

Originally I lost 2.5 stones of the 3 I needed to lose (was lowest November 2021 and it took me a year). Unfortunately I weighed recently and I've put 1st 9lbs of that loss back on. I'm pretty devastated but determined to lose it again.

I started last week and I'm weighing on a Tuesday. I lost 2lbs my first week, which is par for the course for me as I'm a classic 🐢. Therefore, my goal is a stone by my holidays at the end of June.

I really need the checking in that you fantastic thread MNers supply, so I hope I can re-join.

oh @AutisticLegoLover those photo's are dreamy! that looks so relaxing.
once it warms up a bit over here i'm heading out for a walk.
as usual exercise is working out well.
logging food not so much, but no junk in the house and just standard basic meals that i've entered 100x before hoping i'm stable this month.

ImALittlePea · 18/03/2023 19:26

Well today has been a total washout over here. The show last night was AMAZING, had such a great night, but shortly after going to bed my stomach started churning and I ended up spending the whole night being sick 🤢😥 I had to call in sick at work, which is never a nice thing to do, and I've been totally wiped out all day. Have managed to keep down some toast and a plate of chips (🤞), and that's about it. Touch wood tonight is less vomity and we can have a nicer day on all fronts tomorrow.

nameischangedagain · 18/03/2023 19:29

I'm late to the party but just found this thread. I have an event at end of month that I want to feel amazing for.

Today I've eaten ...

B- Yoghurt, fruit, cereal

S- Protein bar

L- Tuna salad

D- Salmon & greens

I've done 6k steps, no workouts. Tomorrow I will do 10k steps and a workout.

AutisticLegoLover · 18/03/2023 19:58

@ImALittlePea oh no! Get well soon!

Today has gone to plan with food and exercise. Tomorrow should do the same I hope.

B: porridge
L: fig cracker things with apple and babybels
D: butternut squash soup with 2 petit pains and 2 Fab ice lollies
S: lotus biscuit x 2

1517 calories.

MKD1 · 18/03/2023 22:22

Thanks all!

I think I get a few months free of some app via sky. May have to check it out. Kids would love to do it with my I guess. I'm also hoping I will lgeg up before the kids to get something done.

I'm also eager for a dog! Hoping that will get me out more.

AutisticLegoLover · 18/03/2023 22:36

Well it's bedtime and I'm hungry but I'll push through it like I used to and look forward to my porridge in the morning. I never wake up ravenous so my bedtime hunger isn't something I feel should be listened to. No treats planned for tomorrow but a good walk.

Hellenabe · 19/03/2023 05:30

Hello!

Joining here after a rec from another poster :

After a sad breakup last year, I lost all interest in myself and just focussed on my work (sedentary) and kids. At the time I was just under 90kg, 5ft 6 and hoping to lose 7kg. Weighed myself today after being unwell for the last month and I'm 98.5kg. It really was a huge shock.

What I struggle with : trying to meal plan for me and my young children. If they weren't around, I'd eat lots of meat and salad but instead I make things like shepherd's pie or curries so they have a rounded meal.

Daily meals :

2 scrambled eggs, cream cheese, 2 seeded rolls from COOP. ----> will just do eggs now, maybe frittata

2 cups of chai with sugar ----> will stop

250ml water ----> will try and get to 2L

40min lumbering walk : 10k steps -> can maybe go to 15k

Dinner : chicken curry and a heap of rice --> will try and do less rice

Hi All,

@MKD1 I'm new and also try and add exercise through the school run which is a 45min walk one way. I wfh and am crazy busy but I remember when I looked my best, I was doing 2 lots of this walk daily so I might try and do this going forward. How old are your children?

buzzofthebumblebee · 19/03/2023 07:55

Hello new losers @Hellenabe & @nameischangedagain and welcome back @Puffalicious .

Hope you are feeling better soon @ImALittlePea .

I've had a busy couple of days, eating well, although was out last night & had couple double GnT's and feeling a bit rubbish now though ! Scales show another small loss but will save the stats for Weds.

B - poached apples & yoghurt
E - long run
L/D - roast beef dinner
S - slice cake if I get time to make that as well as sunday lunch

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. We are all wonderful.

Bumblebeehum · 19/03/2023 08:03

Morning! Hope you’re feeling better @ImALittlePea what show did you see?

Welcome @Hellenabe many of us struggle with the same thing (eating what the rest of the family eats), it helps to weigh out your portion. I now have about half what my teenage son does, and it’s definitely enough to fill me up (before I was eating the same).

Have been trying really hard this week to not snack in the evenings. I usually have a bowl of berries and yogurt for pudding in the evening and have added to that a mint humbug, it’s a mini-treat but it stops me going crazy on other snacks (so far).

Food for the day:
Cereal
Lunch out (not sure if anything’s been booked for mothers day - if not, it’s beans on toast)
Cod and salad

ImALittlePea · 19/03/2023 08:42

Thank you, I'm still feeling a bit wobbly and weak but slept well and no more sickness.

Missed your pics yesterday - lovely scenery @AutisticLegoLover how lucky you have that so close! No wonder you clock up the steps you do!

Welcome newbies/returnees @Puffalicious @Hellenabe @nameischangedagain I hope you find these threads as helpful as many of us do.

Well done on the result yesterday @NatM15588 and for the NSV @menomonster

Happy mother's day all ❤️

Welcome to the group!

Mine are 7 and almost 4, I can't walk the kids to school as we live outskirts of a village where we would have to walk down x2 60mph country lanes. Although the walk would be lovely just not safe for them.

I was considering taking them in the car and leaving my car next to the school and walk back? Then walk to the school again and bring them back in the car.
