Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Love this thread @TheRealHousewife @AutisticLegoLover
Thankyou for the kind words . Frankly I'm having a horrible time .
@ImALittlePea please take care of yourself. That's a lot to juggle but you sound both organised and determined. Best of luck .
Had ice cream last night. Not much at all but I'm unused to it now so feel a bit sore. Haagen Daaz so it was worth it I reckon.
We had barramundi with roast sweet potatoes, and a charred corn/tomato/avocado/coriander salsa beforehand. Then DH said "sod this" and strode down to the supermarket in search of sugar.
Haven't done that since we started this eating plan nine weeks ago so I rolled with it I'm afraid.
We're disappearing for the weekend tomorrow with GC so I'm going to go with the flow over the next three days. Honestly don't imagine I'll overdo it as I've very little appetite.
Keep going everyone

Lionnose · 15/03/2023 18:30

Sw 63.4kg
cw 62.2kg

so a loss of 1.2kg. Thanks to this thread I’ve stayed fairly on track. I’m really pleased!

haven’t had a good day and a half food wise, partly hormones partly being out with my son today and bumping into his school friend who invited us out for lunch. Really enjoyed it though and skipping dinner tonight so hope it’s not too bad next week.

@Weatherwax13 so sorry to hear about your stress

@buzzofthebumblebee & @ImALittlePea thank you both. He’s ok now. Apparently norovirus is going round school

@ImALittlePea you life sounds very difficult right now. Hope you have lots of support irl & hope it passes soon and you are on the up again.

@Cloudberries123 i really feel for you re sleep. I think we are in a similar boat. My two have had me up most night for about 4-5days and I’m struggling. Tonight will be no better as the baby has a terrible cough and I’m worried. My son was sent to hospital twice before he was 2 with breathing problems so even if she’s fine I will struggle to sleep from worry. Going to bed soon in the hope I get enough to function tomorrow!

good luck all with your week ahead. Thanks to all for being part of the thread. This thread has really helped me. Knowing I will weigh and put my weight here stopped me snacking multiple times

AutisticLegoLover · 15/03/2023 18:45

@TheRealHousewife thank you. During my mid 30s I became

AutisticLegoLover · 15/03/2023 18:56

Overweight due to my then husband bringing pizzas and chip barms back with him after work and 1 was eating that type of thing twice a week plus big portions, a Diet Coke addiction plus big bags of kettle chips and big bars of chocolate. Added to that I didn't do much exercise and was deeply stressed and ill due to the abusive marriage. Once he left and I had a close bereavement the weight dropped off until I was my much coveted 9st 3lb from about 11st 3lb. It crept up during lockdown and being single I didn't care as much about how I looked because no one was seeing me naked 🤣 Then I reached unhappiness with my body and took action and here I am with all of you, addicted to porridge and Greek yogurt 😁

How tall are you @TheRealHousewife? You found tiny on your bottom half and very small on your top half too.

Big hugs to all of you who are struggling for whatever reason. Hold on and keep goingFlowers

Today is a not quite total write off for food but not great. Porridge as usual but noodles, bubble tea, cinnamon swirl from
Starbucks and Turkish delight all add up to a not very healthy day. I feel bloated and tired which is probably a result of my diet today. Dinner will be late if at all and will be a fake beef roll. I'm not weighing until at least Friday! I enjoyed our shopping trip though and we have new bras, body fragrance mist thing, chocolates for my mum, a new bag for Dd and she is very happy and enjoyed the stress free shop with just me. My usual bra is now too big and gaping at the cup which is sad but also too big round the band. I didn't realise just how big it had become until I tried on some new ones.

TheRealHousewife · 15/03/2023 19:13

@AutisticLegoLover 5ft on a good day. With sizeable twin melons 🍈🍈

WOW reporting
Just shaved off half a pound this week. Pleased with that given the extras I've had.
SW: 12 st 2 lb
CW: 11 st 9.5lb
GW: 10 st

Weatherwax13 · 16/03/2023 02:55

So glad you had a great time @AutisticLegoLover and your DD must've loved it.
In a little bit of happy news, my 31" jeans just arrived. I think once they do the initial stretch they may be slightly on the loose side. May need a 30"
When I started eating healthily on Dec 27th I had a muffin top hanging over a size 34" in the same Levi's style.
So that's my positive for the day.

Weatherwax13 · 16/03/2023 03:07

Oh and I definitely understand about the bra size phenomenon! I bought two last week, down a cup size and band size and realised oh my goodness, how baggy the current ones are! I'm delighted as I've developed an enormous bust in my 40s. Could hoick my bosom quote convincingly if I chose. I have tops in my wardrobe I can pull out again and not feel matronly in them.
Only thing now is that I could probably tuck my books on my belt if I went without a bra. But it's worth it

TheRealHousewife · 16/03/2023 08:43

Morning all, quick accountability check-in from me as well so I don't drift off in a sea of tea and biscuits.

I've really appreciated the honesty and supportive atmosphere on here in the past couple of days. You're all wonderful 💪🏻

Having a bit of a tough time with a work transition on top of baby life, but was it you Bumble who said to take energy from the sun? I love that.

Breakfast - tea, water, 2 slices sourdough and jam

Snack - coffee

Lunch and dinner tbc because we are not on top of shopping or planning at the moment 😂 but will be some type of meat and two veg.

Nearly the end of the work week!

Bumblebeehum · 16/03/2023 11:42

Thanks @buzzofthebumblebee your words helped last night as I managed to watch MAFS without a snack in hand!

Menu for the day:
Scrambled eggs on sourdough (in a cafe with real butter, not spread)
Soup and mini flapjack
Pasta Carbonara and a mint humbug (the secret weapon against further snacking)

Ninjachicken · 16/03/2023 12:59

@ginsparkles there could be kelpie in her ! After she was rescued the vet put Bruno de jara crossed with Labrador on her papers. But she could be anything really. Definately some hunting dog as she was rescued in rural france. Yours is lovely !
@TheRealHousewife thank you, a new eating regime is going to begin based on the fast 800 as soon as the book turns up!
sending postive thoughts to @ImALittlePea and @Weatherwax13
more visitors coming tonight so more socialising. After today everything should calm down a bit and I can get back on track !
20 degrees here today !

ImALittlePea · 16/03/2023 13:11

Thank you @Weatherwax13 I am quite an organised person which is definitely much needed right now, but can also work against me as if things start to fall to the wayside it makes me panic more!? Well done also on your NSV!

I do have good support @Lionnose thank you. I'm glad your little one is on the mend.

It is all quite overwhelming, but I also know that things could be far worse in many respects, and that this situation is only temporary. I'm also acutely aware of when I'm heading towards burn out, and I do talk regularly to my support networks (IRL and on here ❤️) to prevent from getting to that place.

Glad you had a good day @AutisticLegoLover I need some new bras too, mine are WAY too big now 😬 must remember to measure when I get out of the shower tomorrow and order some. I used to get measured at Debenhams but now we don't have that any more, I use the 'boob or bust' method - anyone else tried it? Foolproof - for me, anyway!

Yesterday my stupid Garmin kept buzzing me during my (busy) shift telling me to move more. While I was on my feet constantly! Clocked over 11k steps yesterday and zero snacking 🤩

On nearly 4k steps today so far. Had some nice compliments at baby group this morning which is always nice!

Today's meals:
Lunch - CUP-A-SOOOUUUUP!
Dinner - about to prep a corned beef hash to cook later, to serve with baked beans.
Snacks - might have nibbled on some of DD's snack at playgroup 👀

ImALittlePea · 16/03/2023 13:14

X-post.. thank you @Ninjachicken

buzzofthebumblebee · 16/03/2023 18:00

Go you in your slinky Malinky jeans @Weatherwax13 !

Loads of you have so much on your plate, with little ones too, so good enough is enough. No need for heroics or perfectionism. Just prioritise, and if there is a choice - quick fix of sugar or longer term benefits of nutrition, just do your best at making the right choice. There's always tomorrow.

Well done on snack free evening @Bumblebeehum . The short term hardship will transform into longer term weight loss, body shrinkage, and feeling better about yourself !! It's really hard to break the habit. But a habit is all it is. It's not starving yourself ; )

You're doing brilliantly. In fact we all are. And the sun shone properly today - it felt lovely and warm on my face!

B - stewed apple & natural yoghurt
E - run
L1 - pate on oatcakes
L2 - veg soup
D - roast salmon, brown rice, and veggies - mix left over roast veg & greens.

Keep up the good work everyone !!! Enjoy your socialising Ninja - good to have fun!

"Good enough is enough"

Bloody love this @@buzzofthebumblebee

AutisticLegoLover · 17/03/2023 06:54

Morning all. I like enough is enough too but with my mindset I'll never apply it to myself I don't think.
I feel like crap this morning. I've felt extra tired all week and had a bad night last night thanks to ds being

AutisticLegoLover · 17/03/2023 07:02

Ffs. Ds being in my bed. I must have woken up 10 times to move him over from my side and woke up aching all over at 6.15am. I was dreaming about my exH and that has left a weird upset feeling about me. I'm only on 38 miles this week so I've not even done a lot. Ugh. I hate feeling like this. My whole system feels out of whack. However, my oats are soaking and I'm glad it's Friday. I'll try to be better food wise today and will make some soup if I get time. If not I'll make it tomorrow. Butternut squash has become my go to for dinner. If we leave on time today we can walk through the woods and along the canal to school. It's always s nice walk to do there and back. I need to walk up to my mum's and back today and do some shopping so I might get 10 miles in today.

I hope you all have a good day and those who are weighing today have a wow m

Weatherwax13 · 17/03/2023 07:08

Hope the walking clears your head and gives you some energy. Bad dreams can leave you in such a weird state of mind particularly when they're about a real person who's caused you pain. I sympathise @Aut@AutisticLegoLover

ginsparkles · 17/03/2023 07:24

Morning everyone. Riddled with an awful cold, so going to be kind to myself. Weigh in shows 2lb off so the holiday weight now gone which I'm very happy about.

Working today, laced with lemsip, lucozade and foods to fuel me!

Had a lovely day off yesterday. Took Ddog on a training session for off lead recall in public with other dogs. Trainer brought her dog along and Ddog was soooooo well behaved! I think she has been able to do this all along, it's just us lacking confidence in letting her! She's so blooming smart !!

@AutisticLegoLover sending gentle hugs. Cup of tea and a gentle reset today. Horrid when dreams leave you feeling discombobulated

ImALittlePea · 17/03/2023 07:44

Morning

Maintain this week, not disappointed with that as I'm on the lower end of my current yo-yo so at least I may be stabilising there... Maybe it'll become the top end of it soon? 🙏

As per our new mantra from @buzzofthebumblebee - good enough is enough!

This weekend is going to be a bit different on the 'weekendiness' (read: wine) of it; off to a show tonight, and I'm working tomorrow from mid afternoon until close. So no nights out, evening snacking or wine on the sofa with DH. So maybe next week I will break the yo-yo!?

I hope you feel a bit better today @AutisticLegoLover

Plan for today
Lunch - normal (probably)
Dinner - don't know, sister is cooking for me so whatever it is will be veggie and delicious!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 17/03/2023 08:52

Morning All
Sending healing vibes @AutisticLegoLover and @ginsparkles
Today is not off to a good start, woke up with an awful couldn't lift my head up without nausea headache so had a can of coke for breakfast. I know its terrible for me but it zaps a headache so quickly it was worth it!.
Lunch - Falafel + Salad
Dinner- Cajun chicken and sweet potato wraps

TheRealHousewife · 17/03/2023 09:01

Good Morning All

We are going to Northumberland for a few days which we are looking forward to. Weathers going to be rainy but that doesn’t matter; I just enjoy being near the sea and sea air.

@Ninjachicken Fast800 and the other diet recipes from Dr Michael Mosley are very good. When I followed them everyday it was enjoyable and easy to follow.

@AutisticLegoLover Sorry to read your feel rubbish. On reading your recent posts you do usually get a lot of exercise in. Do you think you’re getting enough protein in? Our bodies need more than we think especially when exercising. I’m not lecturing you or telling you off or anything I’m trying to be helpful as I don’t like to think you’re under the weather. ❤️

Enjoy your show @ImALittlePea . I love the theatre but haven’t been since covid struck.

@ginsparkles Well done on losing 2lb holiday gain. I’ve lost half off my 4lb gain from week before last and now I’m going away again today … there’s no hope 😬

Menu
Meal 1 - GF Fish & Chips - Might end up OMAD.
Meal 2 - Vegetable Crudités, hummus and cheese (if needed)

Exercise - Little stroll by the sea in the rain. I think that should burn extra calories.

Enjoy your Friday ❤️

So sorry that a few of you lovely folks are feeling a bit urgh. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you all.

had another not good day. Does anyone have any advice for how to deal with responding when other people want them to eat? I fold immediately. I’ve had two occasions in The past few days where people have given me cake and I don’t know how to say no so I just eat it. Any suggestions welcome. 3 cakes! Not what I want!
