Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

I took my first 0.75mg yesterday morning, was exhausted last night but have woken up disappointedly hungry today!

Prettybubblesintheair · 27/02/2023 08:06

Mind you now I think about it I think I do wake up hungry and then it fades as soon as I try to eat. I’m also fasting so will try not to eat until 1pm today. I’m feeling a bit low today, it’s the day before payday so I’m skint, got the day off but can’t afford to do anything! Will go for a walk after I’ve broken my fast I think.

MaireadMcSweeney · 27/02/2023 08:09

I'm hungry every morning but it reduces over the day. I could eat a big breakfast if I let myself but by mid morning I'm full and my appetite decreases all day. I wish I was hungrier in the evening and could skip breakfast but it's not working that way!

Circa1840 · 27/02/2023 08:15

Prettybubbles and Mairead how long have you been taking Ozempic? By the sounds of it the inability to eat wears off even with higher doses?

ILostMyself · 27/02/2023 08:36

That’s funny I’ve been the exact opposite all week… not too bothered about breakfast and lunch but hungrier in the evening. I still like to eat 3 meals a day though as I have more energy that way (plus I sometimes jog in the mornings).

Prettybubblesintheair · 27/02/2023 09:01

This is week 4 for me. For me the appetite suppressant is strongest for a day after the injection up to 2 days before my next one. This is why I plan on doing 0.5mg 4 days apart rather than 1mg in one go. However it isn’t just appetite suppression, it makes it a lot easier to resist food and to stop eating when full.

I've been on it 8 weeks and at 1mg for 4. I never had an inability to eat but the appetite suppressant effects haven't worn off for me. 1mg split over two doses seems to work perfectly at the moment.

Same. I'm sticking with 0.5 every 4 days. I get good results on days 2 and 3, slightly reduced on days 4 and 1 but enough to keep me focused and this seems to work well. I wouldn't want stronger results for half the week and then much reduced for the second half - no guarantee that would happen but it's not worth the risk if it works as it is

Hello - I'm getting on ok with Ozempic ( just moving towards a 1mg dose)
No vomiting but some nausea at times.

Hungrier at lunch and less at dinner ( which is the reverse for me). I'm struggling to eat enough I would say to fuel the running and mild weights I do 5/6 times a week ( alternated) and so am after protein tips.

I can see a mention of protein coffee, collagen, protein powders, snacks and yoghurts.

My main meals are protein based but would be helpful to understand any supplementation I can fit in - can you share any brand names or direct recommendations?

I've used PhD diet whey, MyProtein impact diet whey, ProteinWorks clear diet whey and and also Pulsin.

Some pre workouts will also have protein added - Bulk do.

I drink ProBrew coffee - it has 8g of protein per cup

Re yoghurt, I buy protein yogs because I like the flavours but nutritionally they're very similar to plain 0% Greek yoghurt

I've found that Skinny Duo bars have the best protein content for the lowest calories

Has anyone felt quite down on the injection? I only started on Friday and not sure if I have felt so down over the weekend due to being so very tired..

Or If much of my joy on the weekend is Eating junk and lots of it (which I haven't wanted to do - which is fantastic)

I guess I need to start bringing joy to my weekends that isn't food related.

I know il find the week much easier as I normally eat well. I usually dramatically go down hill Thursday onwards.

themuminator · 27/02/2023 10:48

feelingsoawful - I don't feel down, just a bit empty and the long haul ahead is daunting.
Sounds like you need to give yourself some non food treats if you can.

3lb loss since Friday.

circa1840 - you are my start buddy! But I've had more calories per day than you. 7lbs is a big loss in just a few days.
I'm trying to still eat enough to sustain my engagement with it in the long term.

Just had a smaller bowl of porridge than normal and I have this 'full in my throat' feeling. Anyone else have that?

I've been able to resist all junk food and allow myself some small treats within my calorie allowance this weekend. Getting past day 3 is a massive success for me!

Onwards and downwards.

MaryPoppinjay · 27/02/2023 12:35

Hi, just popping in to say for me the scales are finally moving.
I started Saxenda last year and by the time I loved to the full dose was not losing anything and feeling super unwell all the time. Moved to Oz in December at 0.5 (because I’d been at full dose Sax) for 2 months. Juniper initially reluctant to move me to 1mg but as I’d lost nothing in Dec or Jan they relented and upped the dose.
So far this month on the 1mg dose I’ve lost about 6lbs which compared to some is tiny but for me is amazing. I’m insulin resistant with PCOS and peri menopausal so weight loss has been almost impossible up to now. I’ve never over eaten and am reasonably fit and active but gradually got to the point where despite being tall and ‘carrying it’ I’m a shocking 5 stone overweight. There was absolutely something medical going on and yet most Dr’s I spoke to were CICO focused and refused to believe I wasn’t overeating to a considerable degree.
Oz has really helped me keep my daily calories to 1200 (I was hovering at about 1500 daily before this and slowly but surely gaining weight)and since moving to the higher dose I feel the blood sugar effects of the medication are finally having an impact.
My very long point it is I believe it is worth persevering with this even if the losses are small or slow. I’ve lived a life of being very strict with diets to no avail and so figure even if I lose less than a lb a week then by summer 2024 I’ll be at a weight I haven’t seen since my teens.

HarrietMumof2x · 27/02/2023 12:55

I have been using Ozempic for over 2months, and I am really chuffed with the results!! I noticed I was eating a lot less and I never wanted sweet treats x

HarrietMumof2x · 27/02/2023 13:12

orangelotus · 16/02/2023 09:57

could you order from somewhere else and then keep the pen in the fridge when it arrives?
i saw Manual have an offer at the moment.
i was thinking of changing from juniper to them but maybe i'll just suck up the cost as i don't want to interrupt the whole process

@orangelotus I recently switched to healthexpress and couldn't be happier. Their much cheaper and I've saved over £50! Their delivery is also free. It didn't effect my treatment plan and I could continue on my current dose. Hope that helps xx

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 16/02/2023 10:45

Update from UK meds - order cancelled and refunded due to Stock issues. At least we have an answer now. Not sure if I will try them again even with their prices and my discount code….. I am sure I could be tempted as it is so much lower. Will see how quickly the refund is processed.

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun I used to use UKmeds but now I use Healthexpres. Their much cheaper and delivery was free next-day. I also had a much better experience with their service than UKmeds. hope that helps xxx

Lndnmummy · 27/02/2023 13:51

I also use healthexpress

MNisMyGuiltyPleasure · 27/02/2023 14:22

How long does a pen last, please?

I've been feeling a little down lately.
I think it's because I love food and the weekends feel empty without a special dinner (I could still have something special but my appetite has gone)

I also feel tired (hormonal I think!)
I'm going to focus on non food treats such as hot baths, non alcoholic beer and nice films.
I've decided I am in focus mode now, because as brilliant as this drug is I don't want to be on it forever.
I've noticed I lose more when I quit the sugar so that's what I'm focusing on now going forward.

IcanandIwill · 27/02/2023 14:34

Been following a while and decided to bite the bullet (no pun intended!)

I've just filled in an online consultation with quick meds. There didn't seem to be a clear explanation of what happens next? Anyone who has ordered via them can you explain the process? Wondering if I've done something wrong?

Lavendersquare · 27/02/2023 14:58

I've just had an email from Jupiter to say my starter pack is on its way. I'm now starting to feel very nervous and apprehensive about the whole thing.

I particularly wanted ozempic so that the injections are only needed once a week but now the thought of the injections are making me jittery. I watched an instructional video and it looked ok, is it as easy to do as it looks? My only experience of self injectiing was after my c-section and that stung like crazy, is this as bad?

Reassure me that I'm going to be able to do it. I have visions of me with the pen in hand just not being able to do it.

@Shuggbug has your kit arrived yet?

DorotheaDiamond · 27/02/2023 15:12

@Lavendersquare the needle is so small I can’t even feel it go it!!!

Prettybubblesintheair · 27/02/2023 15:40

How many calories are others eating a day?

Also to those who are administering 0.5 twice a week how do you do that with the 1mg pen? My 0.25 one only went up to 0.25 but I just used it twice to get 0.5, I’m just wondering how you measure 0.5 if the pen only allows a 1mg dose?

Circa1840 · 27/02/2023 15:50

It's a tiny needle. The post c section needles were the proper long needles so this will be a doddle!

It does feel weird not thinking about what to eat next. I am on full day three and I have again only managed a banana and some cooked chicken. Lots of tea. I have made spag bol for the family but the thought of eating it is making me queasy.

I'm not sure whey some of you are trying to supplement your eating with protein shakes and protein coffee etc? Perhaps because I went through an online company I wasn't aware we are supposed to? I thought the point is to eat what you can, make it healthy, the lower the calories the better and then see the weight drop off? Why are you trying to supplement what you are eating? Again not being judgemental, just wondered if i have missed something. I am taking a good multivitamin and to combat low blood sugar I have a sip of fruit juice here and there. Thanks all, I am learning so much from you all.x

KelmenaBallerina · 27/02/2023 16:00

I took my first 0.25 dose last night. Felt a little strange, maybe a bit nausea and a little low so took myself off to bed and feel ok this morning, a little bit of a head ache. I cant say my appetitive feels any different but it is only day 1. I've read so many people lost their appetite almost straight away. I'm not going to lie I'm a little bit disappointed I didn't feel like this, but everyone is different and its just the starting dose! I just don't want to be the 'fat one' again on holiday this year!😔

I wondered this too (about how to split a 1mg dose)?

I aim for 1600 calories a day and 10,000 steps. I seem so lose slow and steady on that and still feel like I can live my life fairly normally without too much restriction.

@Lavendersquare the needle is so tiny and thin you honestly barely feel it. I just did my second 0.25 today. I had been feeling a bit more hungry over the weekend so thought a day early wouldn't hurt (plus I’ve had no side effects). I still feel a bit apprehensive just before I do it, but it’s the thought of it that is is much worse than doing it! It doesn’t hurt at all.
