Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Agree it's def not "weight gain" in form of fat SingaporeSlinky. Good to feed the muscles properly too.

I celebrated my Feb goal by having a chinese last night !!!! Devoured every mouthful. needless to say I didn't dare hop on the scales this morning. WOn't do tomorrow either, but upping water today, and will be off on a long run tomorrow.

Hope everyone having a great weekend.

Todaypicard · 25/02/2023 17:43

A good start I feel today.
we went to our local national trust property all day so I wasn’t inactive. Wasn’t exactly running a marathon, but wasn’t sat on my bum either.

Food:
B - toast x2 (those German rye slices) with peanut butter and an apple,
L - a few crackers, vegetable soup, carrot and pepper sticks, another apple.
D - vegetable risotto with extra kale and broccoli on the side. Then a few cubes of cooked chicken.

we eat early here because of the little one,

Im still hungry but have made a cup of tea and will go to bed early as am tired.

TheRealHousewife · 25/02/2023 21:27

@AutisticLegoLover i think a 3lb loss is great progress especially as Feb is a short month 👍👏

@SingaporeSlinky Ive a couple of cauliflowers in the fridge this week too. One will do spicy Cauli rice to have in a variety of meals and the other I’m doing a cauliflower, chickpea and coconut curry 😋 I love cauliflower 😬

@buzzofthebumblebee I sometimes avoid the scale; especially if I ate a few carb heavy meals or not been to the ‘loo’ 😳What you don’t know can’t hurt you 😬

@Todaypicard Your evening meal sounds delicious 😋

Telly’s rubbish so watching Under the Dome. It kinda bores me and has hooked me in equal measures. It pre dates Stranger Things and I definitely think UTD influenced ST. What’s everyone else watching?

RealHousewife We have just started watching Dope Sick on Disney+ which is a drama based on the opioid crisis in America. Bit heavy but very interesting!

Todaypicard I agree your food sounds lovely. Just are you sure you're getting enough protein and fat if that's how you'll be eating every day? Sorry to stick my nose in, just something to consider. I feel more satisfied (and lose more!) when I up those things.

Bit of an odd food day. Had a chocolate muffin before I remembered about Lent (it was a social situation so I wasn't paying much attention) and then that sugar made me feel a bit weird after not having it for a few days. Set me off on a bit of a munchies raid but then reined it back it with a delicious dinner of lamb, Cavolo nero, swede mash and potato wedges thanks to my DP. I could feel the nutrients going in 😆

Back off sugar tomorrow and planning to super hydrate to flush out all the extra salt and sugar I've had today.

TheRealHousewife · 25/02/2023 23:38

@Cloudberries123 Dope Sick was awesome! I really enjoyed it and thought Michael Keaton was well cast! I’m waiting for the subsequent seasons to Succession, The Morning Show, Severance and Handmaids Tail. I enjoyed all of those. When I’m doing jobs around the home I generally always have my headphones in even if I don’t see all the action I can still follow the plots. Cavolo nero is one of my favourite greens! Increasingly I prefer the veggie options.

TV-wise, we're rewatching Person of Interest, which reminds us of pre child days! I have a list of things to watch, but I'm partial to a re-run of something - I find it comforting.

I did my first reformer Pilates session for months, mid week. It broke me for several days! Hopefully it gets easier as I carry on!

The last couple of weeks I put on a few pounds as I was spending all evening snacking on crisps and chocolate. A bad habit I get in to on and off. But I made my lent challenge to not snack in the evening and I haven't, and the extra pounds are slowly coming back off again. Success of some kind!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

AutisticLegoLover · 26/02/2023 08:57

Endeavour tonight! I'll be bouncing on my ball whilst watching.
59.65kg this morning so slowly dropping.

slytherinabout · 26/02/2023 09:27

@Cloudberries123 @TheRealHousewife
Dope Sick is on my watch list. I’m still bingeing Waterloo Road atm 🙈

@Fara22 I’m so bad for evening snacking too. I’ve given up everything for lent and finding it hard.

We had Chinese last night for a family birthday and I was feeling guilty but I said no to cake AND wine so big improvement on what I would normally have had.

Nice and sunny here today so going to go for a walk with the children in a bit… then soft play party this afternoon 😱 Is anyone else making the most of the sunshine?

TheRealHousewife · 26/02/2023 10:25

Good Morning All

@AutisticLegoLover I love it that you exercise bounce whilst watching programmes 👏Good weight recorded too!

@Fara22 Well done on knocking night time snacking on the head 👍I’ve not heard of person of interest. Who streams it? I get re-watching stuff for comfort (better than chocolate 😬) I’m considering re-watching the Mentalist mainly because of Simon Baker 😊. He was great in that! Pilates sounds interesting. Do you do it on line, self taught or in a class?

@slytherinabout Ive not watched Endeavour, I’ll have a look.

Hey I'd love to join, will there be a new thread for March or is it best to post here? Thanks :)

SingaporeSlinky · 26/02/2023 13:38

Happy Sunday!

welcome @WolfMother326 yes there will be a new thread for March but feel free to post here until then. What’s your plan? Do you have a target weight in mind?

Lunch - Small ham baguette
Dinner - roast beef dinner

Have had a few snacks today in between housework. Needed sometimes.
Back to gym tomorrow morning.

Rewis · 26/02/2023 13:50

It has been weird 24h. I can't rember the last time I have been this hungry. Its crazy. Having just eaten and still insanely hungry

WolfMother326 · 26/02/2023 14:21

Thanks @SingaporeSlinky 😊

I have an 18 month old and just haven't been able to shift the last of the excess weight since having him. I run a couple times a week and walk everywhere but I also snack a lot and eat a lot of biscuits and treats. I weight about 68 kg right now (10.7 stone) and I'd like to get down to under 65 kg by spring time (I have a big work trip coming up at Easter but just want to be underway by then) and eventually back to my pre baby weight of 60 kg. Its not a lot but for me it feels too heavy.

I'm going to work on avoiding empty calories and bad snacks/sweets, having healthy meals with reasonable portions and increasing my exercise levels.

greenspaces4peace · 26/02/2023 16:31

okay everyone my weigh is 148.4
a tiny tiny drop since the beginning of the this month and the beginning of the year.
although my joints feel much better from all my exercise and IF i took measurements i think my waist is a bit slimmer.
i'm away monday tuesday. driving to vancouver and back. so that's it for me for February.

Fara22 · 26/02/2023 16:31

@TheRealHousewife we're watching Person of Interest on Sky, but I think it's also available on Now TV. It's part Sci Fi, part Crime Drama. Love it!

The reformer machine looks a bit like a medieval stretching rack 😬 but with more focus on core development than treason... works all sorts of interesting muscles! I do it in a very small class, so very personalised. If I could afford to do it every day I would love to! The rest of the time I just do the normal stuff on a mat.

Changing habits is hard! Especially if you're aiming to make life long changes rather than just doing a diet for 30 days. Well done to every one on here trying to do something differently!!

TheRealHousewife · 26/02/2023 18:47

@Fara22 The machine sounds interesting and I’m wondering if I’d find it useful 🤔 We don’t have sky or now . From time to time I swap out my Netflix’s for another platform so might look at Now TV 👍 I think I’d enjoy a person of interest.

@greenspaces4peace It’s positive to have lost a bit 👍👏 It isn’t always easy, especially when nearer to goal. Have a safe trip! ❤️

@Rewis That does sound strange. Could it be hormonal?

Welcome to thread @WolfMother326 Feel free to be part of this thread. In the coming days I’ll be creating March’s thread and will link it here and then members go over there come March👍

@TheRealHousewife the weather is not good for road travel, but we’ve invested a lot of effort in organizing it.
it has ruined my “perfect month” apple fitness and will interfere with my final weigh ins.
no joke i’m disappointed.
but it’s needed.

TheRealHousewife · 26/02/2023 19:16

Hi @greenspaces4peace sorry to hear that. I hardly ever close my rings so I get your disappointment. Please stay safe on your trip ❤️

OP posts:
AutisticLegoLover · 26/02/2023 19:21

I don't understand the apple rings. Is that something you pay for? I've just ordered a replacement Fitbit because the display has stopped working on mine. I get premium included for 6 months and as far as I know that includes workouts so I'll try some. I haven't the energy for ball bouncing but I will for half of endeavour at least. I'm looking forward to the school run but then the novelty will wear off quickly as usual. At least no rain is forecast!

greenspaces4peace · 26/02/2023 19:34

@AutisticLegoLover its a free feature with Apple Watches.

@TheRealHousewife have you adjusted the settings? Low enough you can achieve it, high enough it’s incentive?

Todaypicard · 26/02/2023 19:46

Today a good day again I think.
B: 2 x toast and peanut butter, and an apple.
L: leftover risotto and kale and broccoli.
D: dahl (red lentils, coconut milk, tomatoes, spinach, butternut squash, spices) and small amount of rice, and some peas. Then half a satsuma (daughter ate the other half!).

at work so no activity really

TheRealHousewife · 26/02/2023 20:03

Hi @greenspaces4peace the lowest number of minutes you can set for exercise is 10. I do more minutes than that but I don't have enough momentum for it to register 😬. I don't need a wheel chair although I think there is a setting for that ... I might try it 👍

@AutisticLegoLover I used to have Fitbits. In fact I've had several over the last 10 or so years. However the last model I had gave me a nasty burn on my wrist. Then the following year I was gifted an Apple Watch and so far no problems. I can set my Apple Watch to give me reminders to move each hour. It also monitors artirle fibrillation, stress, pulse etc. Plus I can receive calls, texts, WhatsApp messages and all many of notifications through it. In the event I mislay my phone I can ping it from my watch. It's my helpful electronic buddy 😬

Evening all, welcome to the new people!! I’m checking in to gain strength enough to avoid evening snacking!!

we just finished watching Fred West - The Glasgow Girls, seem to watch a lot of crime at the moment, which is gruesome. I’d like to sink my teeth into something more heartwarming if any suggestions? (Love island is also my guilty pleasure so trash TV is well and truly covered)
