Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Agreed that is very rude 😁 @AutisticLegoLover

Nice to see you @SanFranBear hopefully WoF is kind to you!

greenspaces4peace · 23/02/2023 22:15

@AutisticLegoLover my apple watch does not pick up doing dishes at the sink as standing (because my arm's are for the most part bent up)
that pisses me off!

ImALittlePea · 24/02/2023 07:45

Good morning, happy Friday!

WoF for me - half term weight has gone! 2lb off 🥳

The sun is shining and I'm starting the day with a spring in my step, which is much needed as I have a busy one ahead! Food shop this morning, then playdate/catch up with a friend. Then got a cake to bake and a lasagne and veggie pasta dish to prep for dinner with friends tonight, and the house to blitz before said friends come over.

Meal plan:
Lunch - likely to be a wrap of some kind, probably cheese, houmous and lots of veg
Dinner - lasagne/veggie pasta bake, salad, garlic bread

I won't be counting calories today 👀😂

Have a good one everyone!

Cloudberries123 · 24/02/2023 07:52

That sounds like a brilliant day LittlePea I'm taking some of your sparkle to set me up for a good day too. Well done on the WoF.

SanFranBear no judgment here! Even the smallest changes are a commitment to your health - 2 chocolates instead of 4? 😁 I'm sure your weigh-in won't be too bad.

Forgot to say @slytherinabout you asked for YouTube workout tips. I like Yoga With Adriene when I'm doing stretchy stuff, she's really accessible and funny. I also like Fitness Blender for other workouts as I like to have my own music and theirs are silent! Hope you find something you enjoy.

buzzofthebumblebee · 24/02/2023 07:56

My 1st Jan goal was to get back down to 11 2 by end of Feb and I've done it !!! So I'm back to where I was this time last year. Next goal is 10 10, but not more than that. I'm happy being a size 12. Biggest challenge is to still be at 11 2 by next Weds as we've got lots of socialising on this weekend.

Happy Friday all and good luck to Friday weigh ins.

AutisticLegoLover · 24/02/2023 10:51

Well done @buzzofthebumblebee and @ImALittlePea Smile
I'm not weighing today. I need to get some healthy meal planning sorted over the weekend. I just haven't the energy for much at the moment and am watching Peter Rabbit 2 with ds.

slytherinabout · 24/02/2023 11:08

Thank you @Cloudberries123 😁 I'll try that one tomorrow!

I've just done Zumba with Linda... which was hilarious because I can't dance!

ginsparkles · 24/02/2023 12:15

Well done @ImALittlePea and @buzzofthebumblebee !!

@Cloudberries123 yep that's me with all the blooming ham! Starting to look like a ham salad!

So official weigh in today is a 2lb gain, with a week away and a random period a week too early, I think I'll take that!

Today isn't going to be on plan but I know that, out for dinner at a friends..... lasagne , wine and chocolate will be on the menu. Rude to say no!

Any guess what's for lunch?! Grin

SingaporeSlinky · 24/02/2023 12:56

Well done on losses @ImALittlePea and @buzzofthebumblebee

Been on a long walk with a friend this morning, 8 miles covered, which my Fitbit says is 1000 cals 😳 and I’m at 23,000 steps

AutisticLegoLover · 24/02/2023 15:03

I need to get out today. I'm feeling very PMTish, tearful and overwhelmed. And hungry. I had a chip barm for dinner yesterday but can't say I enjoyed it much. Too greasy. I'm hungry but don't feel any cravings for anything in particular. I need to take my vitamins again. I've forgotten the last week or so. Dc go back to school on Monday after half term and I'm going to make sure my sleep habits are better than this week. I'd also like to start some kind of exercise routine to build strength, especially my arms for the summer. My biceps aren't too bad but my triceps have never been toned. I've got some money on an Amazon gift card and thought I'd put that towards some dumbbells. The set I've got my eye on comes with a sheet of exercises. I should get my bike out again and I'd love to go swimming but the pool is 4/5 miles away and the route not safe to cycle there. We did have a pool 5 minutes walk up the road but it's been closed since lockdown. The sides are falling in they say and can't be fixed.

What's everyone having for dinner? I'm totally out of inspiration as usual.

Weatherwax13 · 24/02/2023 16:11

@AutisticLegoLover recent discovery: carrot and zucchini fries! Cut the carrots and zucchini (courgette!) as you would potatoes, in the oven with olive oil and seasoning but 5 minutes before they're done, sprinkle parmesan over them. A little but of the cheap stuff is fine. They come out a bit stuck together with crispy bits. Yum. We had them with chicken thighs which I marinated in wholegrain mustard and pan fried and rocket, walnut and pear salad.

Weatherwax13 · 24/02/2023 16:14

Ugh, I tried to get rid of the bold type and failed. Idk what's going on but MN is being such a pain for me these days, just so difficult to post without it ending up in bold or with massive gaps between paragraphs

Cloudberries123 · 24/02/2023 17:25

Weatherwax that sounds delicious! That's inspired me as well!

AutisticLegoLover you've just come back from your travels and are more tired than usual! You might need rest and to get back into your routine before adding too many 'shoulds'. Hugs!

(And by rest I include restful things like you walk a lot, as do I, it's my therapy and I go a bit mad without it)

ImALittlePea · 24/02/2023 18:06

Echoing @Cloudberries123 - be kind to yourself @AutisticLegoLover ❤️

Ooh @Weatherwax13 what time do you want me over?! 🤤

I've made a beef lasagne and a veggie pasta bake for tonight. Veggie one is full of courgette, peppers, tenderstem broccoli and spinach. So colourful! Have also baked a lemon drizzle cake. It appears 1/3 of our guests may be about to flake out of the night which will be very annoying after all the cost and time spent on tonight, so let's just hope they don't and my pre-emptive annoyance is unnecessary!

Todaypicard · 24/02/2023 19:29

Hello all, late to the party here this morning - first time attempting to lose weight but feel I just now as feeling really down. We are going on holiday in May and I’ve been shopping for clothes and am just horrified that nothing fits!
My goal is 65kg. Current weight 74kg. So that’s 9kg, or approx 1.5 stone to lose. I’m 32 and feeling that if I don’t get a handle on it now I’ll end up for 40 and fat. Sadly less active than I used to be since having a child (no longer working in the medicine field on my feet all day full time). Can’t blame pregnancy as I was 65kg before pregnancy and 65kg 2 weeks after giving birth!

I need to eat less of course, but also looking for ways to be more active with a 3 year old. She doesn’t walk very fast so it’s all pottering in the park rather than walking properly.

Today, for accountability I want to tell you what I ate. I know it’s not right and too much.

B: left over potato and squash wedges.
L: crackers with cream cheese, an apple, celery sticks.
D: home made vegetable soup, and hole made bread. Then a slice of yummy homemade cake.

I’ve not drank enough water. Drank 2 cups of redbush tea.

Tomorrow I’ve decided to go out for the day and give walking a good go.

any tips on activity levels welcome

greenspaces4peace · 24/02/2023 20:14

welcome @Todaypicard
@AutisticLegoLover and @Weatherwax13 i often cut my pasta content in half by substituting zucchini or eggplant. i've also fairly recently mastered spaghetti squash (the trick is to NOT overcook it).
last nights supper was gnocchi, 1/3 the recipe with the other 2/3 zucchini cut into similar size chunks.
new low weight for the year 148.4

AutisticLegoLover · 24/02/2023 20:58

@Todaypicard welcome, you'll find this thread very supportive I think.

I'm off to bed. Nothing new is happening regarding shoulds until Monday when dc are back at school.

SanFranBear · 24/02/2023 23:07

It's very late but I did remember to weigh this morning and it was not as bad as I expected:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 67.8kg
Feb GW: 67kg

I'll be amazed to hit goal this month but am pleased to still be under 68kg.. it does feel quite a battle to even maintain but that's down to my choices, not my body iykwim!

DD away for the weekend and DS really fancied KFC so haven't started the weekend well but planning on walking, swimming and eating well for the next couple of days at least, so fingers crossed! Also, still got my rather lovely FwB on the go so got a good workout in today which might mitigate the takeout 😉

Happy Weekend Everyone!

AutisticLegoLover · 25/02/2023 00:00

Ending the day on 1587 and hungry. With it being the half term I've not been having breakfast until much later so I'm doing a 16 hour fast most days. I won't be doing that next week as breakfast is usually around 7.15-7.45am so it will be a 14 hour fast. The key for me is not eating after dinner because I can eat a days worth of calories in bed whilst reading. That's stopped and that's a big achievement I think. On holiday I treated myself to a creme egg in bed every night whilst I read my book. It was my one bit of me time and I thoroughly enjoyed it and doing it for 3 nights is hardly committing a huge sin. From Monday I'll be back to clocking up the miles. I really must get a new Fitbit and get back on my ball.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Weatherwax13 · 25/02/2023 00:24

Oh @ImALittlePea a lemon drizzle is my absolute favourite 😍 I make a good one myself if I do say do.
@greenspaces4peace that's a brilliant idea re the pasta

TheRealHousewife · 25/02/2023 08:05

Good Morning All

It was a busy thread yesterday!

@ImALittlePea Great progress! 👍👏 That’s on top of being Super Working Mum and helping out at kids clubs 😮 You lady’s never cease to amaze me ❤️

@MKD1 Some people weigh daily, some weekly and some not all. Do what’s right for you 😊👍

@slytherinabout 106 minutes exercise is excellent! Well done 👍👏

@ginsparkles Don't worry about holiday gain, it’ll soon be gone🤞

@buzzofthebumblebee Congratulations on meeting your February goal! 👍👏⭐️

@SingaporeSlinky Thats some walk! 😮 Well done! 👏

@AutisticLegoLover Sending a hug! Establishing a strength exercise routine will be very beneficial for you … and you’ll look even better in your sleeveless summer wardrobe 👍 Increasing muscle mass is good as it burns more cals even if you’re not moving 😬. I must congratulate you on changing your night time eating habits! I think that one habit is what sabotages a lot of peoples weight loss endeavours. That’s why eating enough protein and drinking enough water earlier in the day is so important.

Welcome to the thread @Todaypicard … and welcome to your new lifestyle 😊. You’ve made the decision to get fitter and slimmer and as you’ll probably know those changes will not only improve your sense of well being but will also improve your health markers such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure and insulin responses. A 3 year old will bring you lots of fun but they also take up an incredible amount of time when not in nursery; so planning is key. Planning menus, planning activity … that said with a little one plans don’t always work out but most will 👍The ladies on these threads are inspiring and supportive, you’ll fit right in.

@SanFranBear Im sure all your planned activity will negate the KFC! Hard to resist and it’s one treat I miss having due to being celiac.

Menu
Meal 1 - Creamy Mushroom gf pasta. Small portion.
Meal 2 - Halloumi stir fry (once a packet is open I have to have it 4 times to use it up 😬 I don’t mind as it’s a favourite)
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise
Session 1 - Yoga
Session 2 - Walking video.

Enjoy your weekend whatever you get up too 😬

PS I’ll be creating March’s thread in next couple of days 😮

Morning all. So I’m 1lb heavier than 2 days ago. BUT I am pretty sure it’s some sort of muscle water retention because of my long walk yesterday. Hamstrings still very stiff, I must have done way too much during Tuesday’s class because I had a rest day Wednesday, a different class Thursday (which I thought would help stretch it out) and the long walk, and still sore. So will rest up for the weekend and hope it settles itself. Haven’t had any snacks, and stuck to 1200 cals, so there’s no other reason for a gain. Will try to drink plenty of water today.

I can see I’ve lost weight, and bought a few bits for holiday, including a size 10 bikini, so I’m pleased with progress. But my legs are definitely not as slim as they were this time last year. The difference is I’ve not been doing spin classes, so I’m going to get back to those from Monday and hope that starts to tone them up again.

Have a good weekend!

TheRealHousewife · 25/02/2023 09:35

Morning @SingaporeSlinky It does sound like water retention = ‘A new exercise regimen puts stress on your muscle fibers. This causes small micro tears, also known as micro trauma, and some inflammation. Those two conditions in your muscle fibers are the reason you may gain some weight’ Pasted from Here Well done on your exercise👍

Morning all. Time for a new thread already! I was 61.15kg at the start of this thread and have not lost much this month but then we've had a week of half term with not much walking for most of it. I've lost 3lbs this month so far which I suppose isn't too bad. Wednesday is the 1st so I've got 4 days to really knuckle down. I'm still feeling PMTish today. Agitated and anxious.

Everyone does so well on this thread. I love that it's sensible with no fads or drugs and how supportive everyone is.

I've not had my porridge yet. I forgot to set it to soak when I got up so I've done a 17 hour fast this time. Yogurt and raspberries for lunch, no idea about dinner.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/02/2023 11:33

Thank you @TheRealHousewife that’s what I’d been researching. I’m not too bothered, it’s only 1lb, and I know I’ve been eating well so it’ll all sort itself out soon. It’s actually nice to have a focus, rather than just planning to generally lose weight. Now I can look at the finer details and have a clear plan, so more targeted exercise. Tummy still wobbly, but definitely less than a few months ago, so aim is to do more spin and more arm weights, and hope the overall weight loss will affect tummy area.

Might deviate from yoghurt lunch today with some crumpets. Have a huge cauliflower that needs using up, so think I’ll do sausage and cauliflower cheese for dinner.
