Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

@AutisticLegoLover i'm a lazy catholic and thought about giving up my 3pm snack then thought not.
SO along with dh decided to eat FISH each friday....not sure if you're fully aware of my hate for fish :(
but i know i will be healthier for it

SingaporeSlinky · 22/02/2023 18:44

@MKD1 welcome! I do 16:8 too. I generally don’t eat until lunchtime and my first coffee is about 11am. I finish dinner about 6- 6.30pm

It definitely helps reduce my appetite and cravings, sometimes I’ll realise it’s nearly 1pm and I’ve not eaten anything yet.

MKD1 · 22/02/2023 20:40

Thank you all!! I'm hoping to start on Monday! As have. Abuse few days during the last few days if half term!!

AutisticLegoLover · 22/02/2023 21:50

I'm already regretting my Lent choices because Dd is downstairs watching tv eating sweets and the mini eggs we didn't eat on holiday. It's very unfair although I ate my own (much smaller) share of the sweets on holiday and she's just finishing off hers. She weighs about 40kg and can eat anything she likes without any effect. The joys of being 14! It's unfortunate that lent starts this week because I can't use the rest of half term to cut myself some slack. Nevermind. Mfp predicts I'll weigh 57kg in 5 weeks if I eat like I have done today. That's with no exercise though.

greenspaces4peace · 22/02/2023 21:56

great outlook @AutisticLegoLover
winter is still here, i'm looking forward to using my bike which i'm sure will be helpful at getting this weight off. but realistically that's 1-2 months away.

TheRealHousewife · 22/02/2023 22:14

I agree with @greenspaces4peace. That’s a great forecast @AutisticLegoLover 👍.

@greenspaces4peace Im so wishing that the warmer weather was here already. Spring seems so far off with dismal weather forecasts for the coming days.

Stew and gf dumplings.

Morning all, I messed up WOW day by drinking a cup of tea before weighing so todays official loss is 1lb for the week🍾

Well done to all the losers!

@Cloudberries123 you are my inspiration as you’re close to me in weight (I’m 98kg, I weigh in kilo’s and then convert to lbs for logging on MFP) please keep losing for me!!

@AutisticLegoLover OMG Mini Eggs are the best! DS has a bag in the treat cupboard and they keep catching my eye. I’m hoping he eats them soon!

TheRealHousewife · 23/02/2023 08:20

Good Morning All

Hi all! Not weighing in today as am on holiday until next week. Just wanted to say well done to everyone this week. I will be back on it properly in a week. Until then I am going to enjoy the break. Thai meal tonight 😋

Cloudberries123 · 23/02/2023 08:54

Morning! RealHousewife unusually we all have a day off today so we are going to meet a friend's new puppy later on!

Breakfast - water, tea, porridge with nut butter (will definitely be having a second breakfast later thanks to a shocking night with the little one. But will be sugar-free 💪🏻)

Lunch - sandwich, satsuma, apple

Dinner - beef chilli, rice and salad

I realised that mid-March it'll be six months that I'm on this thread. Of course the little 'diet demon' wishes I'd lost about 5 times what I have, but I'm genuinely ok with it being slow if it's forever. I never want to see 3 figures again (in kg). But I thought it would be fun to see what I can reach in about a month's time. Bumblebeehum glad to have someone else at the same size on the journey with me!

TheRealHousewife · 23/02/2023 09:22

Have a great holiday @Ninjachicken 👍Here’s hoping you return all refreshed and raring to go.

@Cloudberries123 I can never resist a Puppy’s! They are adorable! Enjoy! That’s a great attitude to have about your rate of loss. It is a lifestyle change rather than a ‘diet’. That way it can be sustained over time and that way you see results and it’s easier to keep going 👍

Morning all. 59.85kg this morning so back under 60. My oats and chia are soaking. Lots of walking to do today which will help.
Well done on all the losses. Keep going with your healthier lifestyles.

SingaporeSlinky · 23/02/2023 11:09

Well done on a few more losses being recorded!

I am exhausted and need to be careful I don’t take the easy option of grabbing biscuits, which I did yesterday! Hamstrings still stiff from Tuesday’s class. Did a 30 minute Pump class this morning, which was really tiring, then I did 20 mins uphill walking the treadmill - machine says I burned 135 cals which isn’t much really (basically 2 nice biscuits). 20 min slow walk home and now sitting with a cuppa trying to warm up. It’s miserable weather here today! Windy and cold.

Lunch will be usual yoghurt, granola and berries.
Dinner might do egg fried rice with chicken.

Weight was 9st 4 3/4
I don’t usually bother with the fractions but suspect my progress will be slow going forward, so might start counting the quarter pounds 😆

MKD1 · 23/02/2023 12:24

Does everyone weigh everyday or once a week in the thread?

SingaporeSlinky · 23/02/2023 14:27

MKD1 a lot of us do WOW - Weigh On Wednesday but feel free to weigh and report whenever you like (you don’t have to at all of course). I weigh myself every day but others find that too much. Do whatever works for you.

slytherinabout · 23/02/2023 15:31

I'm envious of all of your amazing-sounding meals... I need to get better at planning. It's difficult with two small children around too.

I've exercised twice today and have 106 active minutes so far! Largely planning on doing workout videos on YouTube - I did Body Balance today. Any other free recommendations I can try?

ginsparkles · 23/02/2023 15:33

Hello! Bit of a late one for me today!

I weighed this morning, holiday has hurt !!! 3lb on. So back at it to shift that during the coming week.

Plan today is :
GF cereal with grapes

Ham salad (I need tomatoes!!!! My kingdom for some bleeding tomatoes!)

Dinner will be a low calorie chicken curry with rice as DD is staying over night at her Grans place.

Cloudberries123 · 23/02/2023 16:25

ginsparkles Was it you who had ham salad and then gammon salad the other day? 😆👏🏻 You're brainwashing me into wanting that too! Never mind about the 3lb, it'll be off before you know it.

Woke up today with a sugar withdrawal headache. I've never really gone beyond the withdrawal stage before but I would just like a little taste of that life where you're not thinking about sweets all the time 😅

Having some cheese on rice cakes to get through the afternoon slump but otherwise sticking to no snacking pretty well.

Hope everyone has a good evening!

AutisticLegoLover · 23/02/2023 16:39

@MKD1 I do WOW but weigh daily as part of my constant vigilance against the lard 😁 If I leave it more than every other day I worry what might show up. Weighing daily might not show much movement but it helps keep me on track. If I was to have a take away or some kind of high salt meal I probably wouldn't weigh until 2 days after to give the water retention time to settle. It's an individual thing.

SingaporeSlinky · 23/02/2023 19:04

So my Fitbit says that the 20 min walk I did on the treadmill today burned 85 cals, compared to the 135 the machine told me. Very interesting, as it’s quite a difference. Presumably the Fitbit is more likely to be accurate because it’s based on my actual weight, age and heart rate. The treadmill will be based on an average person, which will include men.

But I’m glad I’m not ‘eating back my calories’ as I’d potentially be overestimating.

greenspaces4peace · 23/02/2023 19:55

@SingaporeSlinky it's really helpful to know that important piece that machines are mostly calibrated for an average.
likewise that calories listed on packaging can be off by 10%.

I'm about to order a bigger strap for my fit bit so I can put it around my ankle to get even more precise stats 🤣

ImALittlePea · 23/02/2023 20:36

Wahoo on the new swimwear needed @TheRealHousewife I haven't tried mine on in months, will be interesting to see how they fit!

@MKD1 yes I do IF, a bit loosely some days I have to say, but I never eat breakfast. I do however have tea, which I suppose does technically break the fast, but barely. My eating/fasting hours vary depending on the day of the week and plans, but it would average out at 16:8. Wholeheartedly agree with @SingaporeSlinky that it's reduced my appetite overall. (And a warm welcome to the thread!)

Well done @buzzofthebumblebee 🥳

Mini eggs used to be my worst chocolate ever @AutisticLegoLover but I realised I was wrong. Very wrong. The mini egg bars - now THAT is a bit of me!!

Happy holidaying @Ninjachicken

Great outlook @Cloudberries123 weight loss definitely has to be philosophic as well as physical!

3lb is not too bad post holiday @ginsparkles and I bet it was totally worth it! Eat all the ham to get back to it 😉

@SingaporeSlinky @greenspaces4peace @MKD1 so I wore my Garmin to work last night and it tracked about 5000ish steps... But then also "tracked" 350 steps while I was blow-drying my hair this morning. Figure that one out 😂

Last 26hrs have been mental. Busy shift at work, up early to help out at a group DD goes to. Then caught up with a friend, and this evening I've done another dance class - third in a week! Had a Greek yoghurt and fruit after as calories were low, and even still under 1,100 for the day. Dance burned 330 cals, according to the Garmin (taken very much with a pinch of salt!) I'm feeling very energised from the new physical activity from work and dancing. Apart from my legs - they're bloody knackered 😂

Food today:
Lunch - the usual 😉
Dinner - homemade wedges, cheese and onion crispbake, peas
Snacks - many teas, and a post-workout greek yog

WoF for me tomorrow! Hoping I've chipped away at the half term/DH related stress gain from last week 🤞 until then - night night ladies. Have another glass of water before bed 💧

AutisticLegoLover · 23/02/2023 21:35

Mfp doesn't seem to communicate with my Fitbit very well. I've walked 6 miles and mfp logs that as 48 calories. I don't think so! It's just plain rude.

SanFranBear · 23/02/2023 21:39

Goodness... so sorry I've not been about but wonderful to catch up on everyone's busy few weeks. Some great stuff happening, as always!

Not looking forward to the morning weigh in as I've been quite indulgent - and have been for about two months now so need to try and get my mindset back.. it'll come, I'm sure but I just want all the chocolate and sweets!

Will try and get back into the swing of the thread - life just seems to be kicking my butt at the moment!
