“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

1000 replies

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:

I shan't bother buying them then if they are inferior. Quorn cheeseburger and chips tonight instead. I'll still have a look in Asda just to see and reminisce.

Am I the only one who finds the “just spend money on a PT” poster from the other thread popping over to this one to spam about having a yearning for unhealthy processed foods more than just a little goody?

Katrinawaves · 05/02/2023 13:04

Yep, this is clearly a thread for people who are taking Oz or thinking about it, to support each other on their journeys. It is not a thread for unsolicited and unwanted advice and for people to derail with other types of post.

AutisticLegoLover · 05/02/2023 13:10

I've never said just spend money on a PT. I loved findus crispy pancakes and wish they were still around under their original name and whatnot. How is that goady ffs. You can eat whatever you like as long as you have balance. I don't believe in good or bad foods and attach no emotive qualities to food like. Food is just food. I don't give it the power of good or bad. That way madness lies.

AutisticLegoLover · 05/02/2023 13:11

Ah, just realised I've posted on this thread instead of the other one. Apologies. As you were.

Lucky you
if only we were all as awesome and brilliant as you!
now take your goady shit back to the other thread please

It's not the same poster, in their defence. I apologise also if my own posts are being seen as derailing, as @Athena51 seems to be implying. I came to ask a question, it's been answered, I'll go elsewhere.

So many issues on this threadConfused

Inkpotlover · 05/02/2023 11:57

Peridot1 Thank you! I am finding the portion control plate is working, alongside some other small but significant changes I'm making. I think what I've realised is I need to be patient. I'm 50 and this weight didn't appear overnight, so I'm not going to lose it rapidly either. I've read both those books and have found them enormously helpful and what I've based some of my changes on. I've also had counselling/hypnotherapy too and actually my issues aren't that deep – I was made to clear my plate as a child 'because of the starving kids in Africa' so I carry guilt about wasting food and I simply don't know what it feels like to feel full. I'm also tall, so I carry around the baggage of being the 'big girl' next to my small, skinnier sister. Plus, I just bloody love crisps, there isn't any flavour I can't make friends with, and they are one of the worst trigger foods for weight gain. I can eat six packets in one sitting and still want more.

Anyhow, sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread when PP want to talk about Ozempic. I'm not ruling out taking it but I am terrified of trying something that might trigger me to binge and regain the weight (and more) if I stopped. It would have to be for life, I think! So I'm going to hover on the thread if that's okay to see how people get on when they've been on it for a while.

It’s ok. You’re not derailing the thread. We’re all trying to lose weight and just because some of us are on Ozempic and some of us thought about it but decided against it (or are still thinking about it in some cases) it doesn’t matter. We’ve still all got a lot in common.
I love crisps too. I’ve made the decision to never buy family sized packs again unless it’s for an actual group event. I just can’t trust myself with them. It’s a shame as the bigger packs work out much better value for money. Though not if you eat the whole 200g packet in one sitting!

@Inkpotlover not aimed at you at all, you are definitely not derailing. Apologies if you felt got at, it was absolutely not my intent. Stay!

Thanks for that link @orangelous. Very interesting as as you say reassuring.

Are people ordering the 0.25 pen to start or the 0.5? I’m sure I read somewhere they both have the same amount in? I don’t want to waste any at that price!!!

You can order a 1mg pen and administer 0.25 for 4 weeks then 0.5 etc
you'll need to buy extra needles though

Thank you! although presumably 4x.25 plus 4x0.5 and it’s out of date with 2 doses left?

Do you have any issues ordering that from suppliers as the first order?

also - has anyone tried Rybelsus instead?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 05/02/2023 16:54

Health express we’re very strict with moving up through the pens in the right order (and losing enough weight in the first 12 weeks). There was no reasoning with them about using the pens to get value for money at all. I changed supplier (virtual slimming clinic) when so was already on 0.5mg so getting the 1 mg pen was straightforward.

From a 1mg pen you could get 4 x0.25mg, 4x 0.5mg and 1 x 1mg doses but that is 9 doses (I suppose over 8 weeks) and you are not supposed to use the pen for more than 6 weeks.

The 0.25mg and 0.5mg pens have the same contents as each other so the best value way would be to have a 0.25mg pen for the first one (4x 0.25 mg and then 2x 0.5mg) then a 1mg pen (2 x 0.5 mg and 3x 1mg) followed by 1 mg pens. But I think the companies prefer to follow protocol and sell the 0.5mg pen in between (can’t say I blame them)

Thanks Orangelous. That is reassuring.

Twiglets1 · 05/02/2023 16:57

I ordered a0.25 pen to start with but will apparently get a 5th dose at 0.5 out of it. According to other people so will give it a try.

Twiglets1 · 05/02/2023 16:58

@DorotheaDiamond the pen lasts longer than 4 weeks.

I thought it was 8 weeks but. Licking through a 1mg pen on .25 and .5 will still probably not finish it! Although finding someone who would sell me 1mg to start with seems impossible - at least if I can get 4 x .25 and 2 x.5 out of a .25/.5 pen that’s a bit cheaper!

DorotheaDiamond · 05/02/2023 17:24

Clicking not licking! Suspect licking doesn’t work!

Hi everyone. To update after my first weigh in... my weight loss is very slow going, 5lbs in 3 weeks. I am only roughly a month in now and on my second week at 0.5mg so I know I need to be patient 😇. However, I do think I'm eating too many carbs (this has always been a problem for me). I'm vegetarian and really struggling to eat enough protein. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm not overly keen on eating eggs, and I drink soya milk as cows milk doesn't agree with me. I would normally eat lots of chickpeas, lentils etc but they're high in carbs. I do eat nuts. I'm really not keen on using a protein powder unless I have to due to their ultra-processed nature.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated!! Thank you ☺️
