“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:
IAmBreathingIn · 30/01/2023 20:18

Thank you to everyone who replied to my question. I didn't realise it would prompt such debate, I hope everyone is okay.

I had hoped there would be other effects outside of calorie deficit as I think I experience some insulin/hormonal issues too. I have quite a few stones to lose and I hope this regime will help me hit my health goals after many previous attempts have failed.

I am on my third week, but yet to weigh. More importantly I do feel I'm on the path to health recovery. I will post my body composition (I'm focussing on body fat percentage) once I am able to check.

This forum has been a great source of help and support so far - thank you ☺️

orangelous · 31/01/2023 05:34

i am now 17lbs down since starting on 13/12/22.
I am nearly in the overweight category rather than obese!!
i honestly can't believe it my only concern is keeping it off
I am away with a very thin friend and i can see that i am eating a similar amount to her at dinner etc so it is reinforcing how much i was able to eat before.
i'm still with jupiter who have not answered my request to go up to 1mg next week and neither have they sent me the £50 promised for providing a code to at least 3 people on here.
So i think i'll look at changing providers after this month's delivery.

Well done that's amazing!
I'm on week 6 and my weight loss has slowed right down which was expected after losing a stone in a month. I've still lost 1.5 lbs this week so still good.
Have you checked you spam emails as I received mine ok.

orangelous · 31/01/2023 06:00

i have checked the junk folder and the people on here who i gave the code to were very clear they'd provided the information.
i'm still happy with the results but that would have been a nice chunk of cash to help with the costs.

I have maintained this week which is annoying but better than a gain I guess. Just over 5lb lost in the month of January. Not spectacular but ok. This doesn’t seem to be doing as much for me as for some people.

I have another whole 1 mg pen in the fridge so will see how February goes. I don’t want to stop taking it as I know the weight I have lost would rush straight back. Just a bit fed up today as I can’t seem to break the 80 kg barrier despite coming close.

Hoping that UK meds will have some stock before I need to reorder. Sounds like the best value option.

i was the same ! it's only the past week or so i've seen a downward shift!
in all honesty i was getting so close to going into the 14 stone bracket that to be safely in the 12's is almost a delusion that i'm OK . At 5"2 i'm very far away from OK but i was struggling to zip my boots up because my stomach was in the way.
so keep going
all of a sudden you'll be in the 70's kg wise and it will be a great feeling

HellToupee · 31/01/2023 06:47

I started Ozempic last Friday. Last resort kinda thing as I was bursting out of all my clothes!

I weighed in at a VERY hefty 115KG with a height of 5.11”. Apologies but I am a Continental so still weigh everything in KG’s!

this morning I had a sneaky weigh and the scales stopped at 111.7KG?! Surely that can’t be right as I have not gone hungry once!

sofar, I have started the days with a slice of wholemeal toast with some butter and cheese, lunch has been a salad with chicken and for supper the other night I even had a small pizza….

Anyway, I am not complaining and hoping this stuff really is magic fairy dust and I can finally shift all this weight!!!

I know it is v unlikely I will ever get back into the size 12 jeans I still have in the back of my wardrobe “just in case” but just feeling better and weighing a lot less would be an equally happy thing 😁

missfliss · 31/01/2023 06:47

Was noticing that I was more peckish again yesterday ( next injection on Thursday)

Wonder if it is a cumulative medicine thy builds on some of its efficacy ( only had one dose so far).

Only weighing once a week - not sure if anything lost yet but happy to play a slow game to lose TBH.

I remain very active and am doing a run or weight training for 30 mins 6 days a week as well as sea swimming and lunchtime walks wherei I can.

I obviously need to lose weight but I'm also trying to build muscle mass alongside ( peri menopause) and give protein more of a focus.

My main issues are:

  • sweet cravings
  • portions that are too big
  • emotional / tiredness eating
  • some form of insulin resistance
MiniCooperLover · 31/01/2023 07:02

Second injection day today, have lost 5lb this week and an inch off most areas so I'm pretty happy with that. My wine consumption is massively down (which can only be a good thing), haven't felt the need to snack. Yesterday I did start to feel hungry again so I guess it's a good sign it's time for the next injection. Am now under 14st for the first time in 2 years so am pretty happy with that so far.

Peridot1 · 31/01/2023 07:11

@missfliss - yes the drug does take time to build up in your system. If you are peckish eat more protein. The days I really reduce my carbs and concentrate on protein I feel the medication works better. Which makes sense - it doesn’t just reduce appetite but helps with insulin production so if we feed it more carbs it’s counterproductive. Also remember you are on a low dose. Actually just reread your post and see you are concentrating on protein - definitely the right thing to do.

@HellToupee - good luck! I have a very old pair of Gap jeans in a size 13 at the back of the wardrobe. Also not sure I will ever get into those. Never mind an actual 12!

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun - keep at it. Up your protein. Drink lots of water. I have felt my loss was really slow over the year but was working out how much I’ve lost since I last saw a friend in Australia in May and it’s almost 10kg. Which is 22lbs. I was amazed as it really didn’t feel that much. In my first ever week on the drug I lost 5 lbs. Then gained the following week! So keep at it.

my friend in Australia is on it too and was just told they won’t have any until April. She is gutted. Is going to see if she can get hold of the tablets instead.

Peridot1 · 31/01/2023 07:12

Excellent @MiniCooperLover!

OneAndDon3 · 31/01/2023 07:43

Titrating up to 0.5mg today. I'm actually a bit apprehensive after having an upset stomach last night. Still time to grin and bear it.

i'm still happy with the results but that would have been a nice chunk of cash to help with the costs.

I didn't get anything either from Juniper for giving the code to three people. Queried it and they waffled and offered me £25 off my next order. Have switched to Quick Meds which is cheaper!

I didn't get cash back when someone used my code.....I got a gift voucher! 🤔

Good luck, you might be pleasantly surprised - I did this on Sunday for my fourth dose and despite having had some nausea in my third week on 0.25 I feel absolutely fine on 0.50 so far. Fingers crossed for you!

Mollybeth · 31/01/2023 10:09

Good morning all! I’m weighing in at 12.11 today so that’s 9 pounds lost since Boxing Day!

my stats are

SW:13.6
CW: 12.11
GW. 10.0

and I am 5ft4.

It’s feeling a little less impossible now I’m back in the 12’s.

Happierwithouthim · 31/01/2023 10:42

I'm back into the 13s by a fraction, quarter of a lb but it's great to see 13something again, two years ago 13st horrified me on the scales but now I'm delighted to see it on the way down.

Last couple of weeks have been carby I feel and definitely haven't been losing so I'm going to focus on better meals now.

polopolopolopoo · 31/01/2023 11:06

@Mollybeth these are exactly my stats and I'm about a month behind you, 1kg down so far 🥳 Let's hope we reach our goal 💃

HermioneWeasley · 31/01/2023 12:02

Well Done everyone on weight loss! I’ve plateaued for a few weeks - looks light I might actually have to put some effort in!

Re Juniper, I have had to ask them to check a couple of times but they’ve always come back with my referral gift card. They also always get back t9 me next day or sometimes same day so @orangelous I’m sorry you’ve not had a good experience.

I’m thinking about ordering from a cheaper chemist but

  1. don’t know if they’ll accept me now my BMI is lower? 2)worried about supply - lots seem to sell out and I don’t want to be without

2nd week today, did not get much appetite suppression at 0.5mg. Will see how I get on this week.

mathis2006 · 31/01/2023 12:13

I messaged quickmeds and they said they had lots of supply.

OneAndDon3 · 31/01/2023 12:18

Thanks @Abeachsomewhere, that's it done for today.

I took a double dose from the end of my 0.25 pen and shoved the 0.5 one in the fridge. Fortunately I've loads of needles left over from IVF.

Athena51 · 31/01/2023 12:33

mathis2006 · 31/01/2023 12:13

I've switched to Quickmeds as they are cheaper, I ordered on Sunday, they approved me straight away for 1mg as I've been using it for some time and it arrived today - very pleased with the price and the customer service.

MiniCooperLover · 31/01/2023 12:54

I've been really good at eating small amounts and regularly, today has been a manic day work wise so I've only just managed to eat (no breakfast, just tea, but I wasn't bothered at the time). Eating now after a whole morning has left me feeling bloated and with a headache. Small and often is definitely the way to go, must remember that ... Even though my head or stomach don't think hungry, my blood sugar clearly disagrees.

OzzyOzworn · 31/01/2023 14:30

So I have my 4th injection this eve. I’m going to do 27 clicks (0.38mg) so it’s half way between the 0.25 & 0.5mg doses. All being well I will also stay on that for 5th injection next week then go upto 0.5 on 6th injection. Been lucky with side effects so titrating up slowly as want to remain unaffected! Appetite no longer hugely suppressed so thinking that makes sense plus it’s a lot to jump up and double it suddenly right..? Anyone Else done it this way?
