“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:

I started on Tuesday, am doing my 3 meals a day but not bothered about snacks, though I've had some wine. But I am easily able to polish off a bottle of white in one eve (not something to be proud of I know) and this week I made a bottle last 4 nights. Also only shared a bottle of cava with DH, would normally have much more on a Friday. Meals are smaller too with no issue. No major issue poo wise so far thankfully but have always drink a lot of water. First weigh in Tuesday 🙏

Goawayangryman · 28/01/2023 11:09

My 0.25 pen is only able to dial up that much in one go I don't feel I should be telling anyone to use the same needle twice ... :/ However....

Goawayangryman · 28/01/2023 11:22

Also haven't checked in for a while but I can honestly say this is one of the best things I have ever done. I'm so happy to finally be making proper progress after decades of being overweight and now obese. I've lost 5kg so far and I've just done my 4th injection.

I'm just hoping against hope that it isn't one of those miracle drugs that will end in lawsuits a few years down the line :/ am not naive enough to think we know everything about big pharma ....

Also hope the manufacturer can step up production to meet demand. I'm wary that everywhere seems to be running out and would hate to think I was depriving diabetics of a needed med.

Goawayangryman · 28/01/2023 11:24

Someone upthread mentioned milk products. I can't say these have any novel effect on me since starting the injections. Is your mate maybe getting confused with orlistat, which necessitates a pretty low fat diet and eating loads of cheese, butter and cream would be inadvisable to say the least 😂

HeyMicky · 28/01/2023 12:42

I'm ok with dairy. And in reponse to another poster, I've not gone off any one kind of food, I'm just generally less interested in food in general. No snacking at all

I am, however, constipated this weekend, having had an upset stomach last weekend. Perhaps I'm just going to have one side effect each week?

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 28/01/2023 12:59

Week 1: Day 4. I injected on Wednesday. It seems okay. I feel less hungry. I did eat chocolate and some crisps but not because I was hungry but because I liked the taste 😂.

Today so far, I have just had tea with a granola bar. Don’t feel hungry. Might have soup later on with some nuts.

Last night I had fishfingers in a bun and was full. I’ve lost 1lb so far lol.

Yes I think the same. Is it ok to use the same needle twice on yourself to create a 0.5ml? Anyone know?

HolibobsinApril · 28/01/2023 14:10

I suppose the reason why not to re use a needle is to avoid introducing bacteria. But if it is very quick I don't see why not, A tatoo needle goes in and out.

Hello all. I’m not on ozempic but considering it as a the heaviest i have ever ever ever Been and can’t break the cycle of eating. BUT honestly I don’t eat because im
hungry, I make bad choices and eat regardless of whether im hungry. So im
wondering if ozempic will help?!

Ozempic seems to take away an interest in food, full stop!

I’ve only been taking it a week so no expert but the effect it is having on me is to make me much less interested in snacking. I think it may be partly psychological ( I don’t know) because the fact I have committed to paying £180 a month and will be injected myself every week makes me feel like I don’t want to do anything to sabotage myself from losing weight. I’m still enjoying food but in smaller portions and no desire to eat crisps etc every day

Happierwithouthim · 28/01/2023 16:44

For those of you who've found suppression wearing off is it better to inject 2 days earlier & if so would you increase the dose?

Wingingit11 · 28/01/2023 16:58

Hm interesting thanks. I always start off with good intentions but then self sabotage even if there’s a cost eg I did the 1:1 diet and just ended up eating all the bars as a snack😭

With ozempic you seem to have a "full" filter. Half way through a plate of food my brain just says no....I'm full! It's weird

I think the problem is I really don’t seem to have any full filter at all currently. Also a bit concerned about the stories about piling it back on (again !! ( when finish but maybe I need a kick up the bum to self-care

Katrinawaves · 28/01/2023 17:23

I managed to get through an entire week with no nausea or vomiting last week which was amazing!

I was due to take my ozempic yesterday but we had a wine tasting day planned today which included a 3 course lunch and I was worried that would test my digestion too far so I am going to take it this evening instead.

As a NSV I wore a dress to the wine tasting in a size down from when I started ozempic in December. I wasn’t sure it would fit but it slipped on easily. I’m going to dig out my stash of smaller clothes and have a try on session tomorrow I think to see what I can bring back into commission.

missfliss · 28/01/2023 17:32

Todays food:

Small banana before park run
Green protein smoothie for after park run ( spinach, Greek yoghurt, almond milk and protein powder)
Lunch was one slice whole meal toast and butter with 3 scrambled eggs
Dinner: chicken Kiev and peas with a starter of a small portion macaroni cheese ball thing from M&S

Haven't had dinner yet but whilst I am hungry for it the urge to eat a pudding isn't there and I'll see how much dinner i manager

polopolopolopoo · 28/01/2023 17:34

@Katrinawaves oh that's brilliant! I can't wait for the time when I can wear all my smaller clothes again 🤞

missfliss · 28/01/2023 17:57

Boring update - could not eat all dinner. Very full. Left about 1/3

RumNotRun · 28/01/2023 18:19

I went onto 0.5 yesterday for my 4th injection. I did one of 0.25 and then with the needle still in my leg, twisted the pen to a second 0.25 and pressed it again.

I weighed this morning and only lost 2lb which sucks, but brings my weight loss to 1st 1lb so I shouldn't be disappointed. I knew the huge loss from weeks one and two wouldn't last, but I'm still a bit pissed off. I'm going to do my measurements tomorrow, hopefully I'll notice a change then although my jeans still don't feel any looser. If only Ozempic could help me with patience as well!

HermioneWeasley · 28/01/2023 18:26

So pleased you’ve had wetter week @Katrinawaves and great to have a load of additional clothes available to you

Ha.

I had a kid's party to organise/run today. Loads of cake and sweets everywhere and fizz for the adults. I think I was the only one eating the token carrot batons and drinking water.
