Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

Do you just order it online? YES, my juniper

How long does it take to wean off? still on it

yellowfloss · 26/01/2023 21:08

I'm in my third week (3 injections) and I've lost 12lbs! Hoping that will be a stone by the end of next week. Only another four to go Confused
I wanted to stay on 0.25 as long as possible because I haven't had any side effects, but I've noticed this week that I could easily graze all day if I let myself, although when I sit down to a full meal I still can't finish my plate. I'll see what next week brings.

It'll be like a magic trick when the weather warms up and I remove my oodie. A fat lass climbed into it in November and a slimmer one will throw it off in March Grin

@BalloonArch that made me laugh - like a chrysalis!

Planning to start today and was wondering if you had any side effects if you have a glass of wine and injection same day? 🤔🍷
Not sure if Friday is the best day to start

Peridot1 · 27/01/2023 08:56

Well done @BalloonArch. Made me laugh too. Fab result on 0.25. It’s amazing how well Ozempic works for some people. I really think it’s the effect it has on insulin. I think so many of us are insulting sensitive and don’t realise and it’s why we gained in the first place and why we find it so had to lose.

Peridot1 · 27/01/2023 08:58

@Honeyyyy obviously wine is not really recommend but I have to say I have had wine all the way through. Sometimes it make me feel a bit queasy if it’s before dinner but I’m fine once I’ve eaten.

Kfjsjdbd · 27/01/2023 09:06

@BalloonArch really interesting you say you could graze all day at the moment. I’ve just done my third injection (4lbs lost!) and agree I’m a bit hungrier this week, a bit more interested in food. Very tempted by a pizza this evening. I might do 0.5 as my next dose

I'm scared of 0.5! I think I'll just go up in bits, maybe a few more clicks.
Well done on 4lbs! Most of mine went in the first week - I had a massive drop ( water weight after Christmas I think) so it's probably not very accurate

Makes perfect sense. I said in an earlier post that I'm on HRT and maybe this is just settling a different hormone down.I think @HermioneWeasley thought something similar when she started.
I just feel normal around food, something I haven't felt for a few years now.

Peridot1 · 27/01/2023 09:42

I’ve just realised bloody autocorrect changed my “insulin sensitive” to “insulting sensitive”! I’m sure you all realised what I meant!

polopolopolopoo · 27/01/2023 10:27

@Peridot1 that makes sense. The starting dose has made so much difference already to me. How is insulin resistance diagnosed though? Nothing has ever come up in my blood tests, I'm not clinically pre-diabetic but there's definitely something going on if I can lose weight with this drug when all diets have failed previously. And I mean I've not lost a pound with WW, keto, calorie counting, despite willpower. But here I am, 1kg down in a week already 😀 it's amazing!!!

Also week 3 and I'm finding very limited effect this week after 2 good weeks.

missfliss · 27/01/2023 10:33

Well after my first dose (0.5) yesterday o can feel it working.
Woken up just feeling a little queasy and burpy.
Felt a little better after a small breakfast (protein powder smoothie) and sipping coffee now.
Definitely not much appetite it's odd.

I'm also shattered - but I did not sleep well last night and it's been a long week .

Peridot1 · 27/01/2023 11:08

@polopolopolopoo - I’m not sure how it would be diagnosed. Dr Jason Fung’s book The Obesity Code is good on insulin. I’m not great at explaining but I think his premise is that the thinking has been that being overweight leads to diabetes and obesity. His theory is that insulin resistance leads to weight problems and then diabetes. It makes sense to me. Like you I have done every diet going. I do lose weight but then stick. And can’t lose any more and get disheartened. Also the body is pretty good at wanting us to put the weight back on! It doesn’t want another famine (diet to you and me!) so over rides our attempts. The book Why we eat (Too Much) but Andrew Jenkinson is good at explaining that.

HolibobsinApril · 27/01/2023 11:09

I'm a newbie to the thread. I have just made my first order from London Slimming Clinic. I'm very nervous! I expect I will receive my order early next week but I am not planning on starting until then end of the week as I have a very busy work week ahead.

I'm really not good with needles, so I might get DH to do mine for me. I wouldn't have been able to do the daily injections. Weekly should be fine.

One question I have is - I am going on holiday in April with some friends. The sort of friends where I eat too much and drink too much!! Am I going to get really sick? Do I not have the injection that week and expect to put on some weight and get back on it when I get home. I'm not too sure what to expect/do.

There is a likelyhood that Ozempic will work in the way that I won't want to eat/drink too much. But I have such low willpower that I expect I will.

That’s fantastic! 👏🏻You sound very similar to me, I had five stone to lose and now have just under four. I’m having my fourth injection on Sunday but a bit nervous after that about moving to 0.50 as I’ve actually been feeling quite nauseous this week on 0.25. It’s bizarre as I hardly had any side effects for the first two weeks.

loverofpants · 27/01/2023 11:50

Sorry as I've searched and couldn't see but has anyone been using Mounjaro rather than Ozempic? Just wondering about side effects etc.

It's not available in the UK yet even off label like Ozempic. Later this year I believe. It's supposed to be the most effective yet for weight loss so exciting stuff.
I assume that side effects will be similar to Oz.

loverofpants · 27/01/2023 12:14

@Athena51 ahh ok thank you, I'm not in the UK so it was I have been offered here instead of Ozempic but was concerned as I've not heard much about it.

Athena51 · 27/01/2023 12:18

@loverofpants the trials have shown it to be even better for weight loss so I'd be really interested to hear how you get on. From what I've read, the side effects are the same as Ozempic (nausea, constipation etc).

Peridot1 · 27/01/2023 12:36

@HolibobsinApril - I have been away a few times and took a bit of a break each time. And even then I couldn’t eat large quantities. I could still drink however!

polopolopolopoo · 27/01/2023 13:56

@Peridot1 thanks, will look at those books 👍
