10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

@MrTiddlesTheCat I wish I had leftover dinner at all 🤣 I should maybe think about doing a bigger portion for that purpose.

@ShinyPikachu sorry to hear about your gain - you can get past it and get back on track! I also hate the BP chat, mine sky rockets anytime I go into a doctor. Have you thought about a home monitor for peace of mind? I have one and it helps!

ShinyPikachu · 01/08/2023 13:40

I've got a home monitor which is how I know I'm ok at home. They just won't ever accept my own readings when I go into an appointment.

They've even in the past given me one of their monitors to take home and use for a week and to give them the readings so I guess they just don't trust home monitor readings.

So frustrating and I've had that happen too! They eventually called mine "white coat syndrome" meaning they somewhat accepted it was only really happening at the doctors. Having said that, I could probably still get mine down a bit overall...

PlumpAndGrump · 02/08/2023 14:03

I have been struck with a dreaded d&v bug. Not ideal as I have three kids to look after who have all had some variation of the same over the last few days.
I hope it passes quickly and I guess it will boost my weight loss 🤦🏻‍♀️

SecondStarOnTheRight · 02/08/2023 18:28

Hello all!

I've recently started losing weight and found this thread so hoping posting and reading will help keep me motivated. Hope you don't mind me joining in. 🙂

I'm very overweight so finding this thread I'm hoping will be very helpful! I'm setting mini goals along the way rather than an overall end goal.

I have a holiday booked later this year and the thought of flying is terrifying me. I've booked an aisle seat as I don't want to be invading someone else's seat and I really don't want to have to ask for a seat belt extension. Last time I flew I was ok but I haven't flown for about 5 years and I was probably 4st lighter then.

So here goes...

SW: 21st 8lb, 15/07/2023
CW: 20st 10lb
Current goal: 18st 0lb by 25/12/2023

Hi, I haven't updated for a couple of weeks. I'm at just over 3st 7lb off in 20wks. I've been on a bit of a high today I bought a size 16 top today and it fiiitsss. 🤯🤯 I haven't had a size 16 anything probably for 20 or more years. I think I've also realised I actually have dimples that have been hidden away and long forgotten for same length of time. I had a 2lb gain last week but lost 4 this. I've been drinking lots of water as I've found a taste for sparkling water and increased my healthy fats/protein.
Keep holding strong all, we can do this. We will do this.

chalkyc2 · 03/08/2023 07:10

Well done @Diedre44 !! I'm 15 weeks in and just over 3 st down too. What app is that you are using with the measurements? Looks helpful!

My target is 10.3 stone. 5 stone to go 😳😬

Peony2021 · 03/08/2023 08:01

Oh no @PlumpAndGrump hope you feel better soon! There's a lot going around.

Welcome @SecondStarOnTheRight :)

@Diedre44 and @chalkyc2 your weight losses are amazing. You seem to have lost around 3 stone in 3-4 months - have you any tips?

chalkyc2 · 03/08/2023 08:43

Well...it's not been fun! I've been doing fairly loose Fast 800 principles - no carbs no sugar no booze and prob about 1000 cal a day. Basically protein and veg only with some berries. I haven't been super strict about calories and although I use the recipes online and in the fast 800 books I don't stress about measuring out Olive oil and if what my chicken breast weighs. And I have a mug of oat milk tea before bed every night which Fast 800 purists would be horrified by!! But I haven't cheated in any other way - sugar or alcohol or snacks. It's not been easy and I am still not finding it easy!

Off on hols in a couple of weeks so am going to try and be as good as I can whilst not stressing, and then back on it with a vengeance when I'm back.

I do have to say my digestive system is much improved - not sure if it's the carbs or what. I had my gallbladder out 18m ago and had been a bit bloated and gassy since - this has sorted that out!

Readinstead · 03/08/2023 11:17

Hello all.
Hope you feel better soon PlumpAndGrump.
Welcome SecondStarOnTheRight.
Great loss Chalkyc2.
Dierdre44 huge congratulations on the size 16!
I weighed in today, so end of week 5:

SW - 108.3kg (238.8lbs)
CW - 98.9kg (218. 1lbs)
Loss this week - 1kg
Loss to date - 9.4kg
Target 1 - under 100kg ✅
Target 2 - under 200lbs
Target for rest of August - 4kg (94.9kg/209.25lbs).

Echoes89 · 03/08/2023 15:57

So haven't got my act into gear back up 7lbs from my lowest weight. Holiday in about 6 week, so need to lose just over 1lb per week to be back down to there and not feel too guilty about food on holiday, refuse to be back over 13st when I'm back, so need to get back down before it ends up a huge upwards slide. Tracking on myfitnesspal again to keep myself accountable and to stop me getting takeaways and treats

SW- 17st 3lbs
CW - 12st 10lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs

PlumpAndGrump · 03/08/2023 18:02

Thank you. I'm feeling a lot better today and have been busy cleaning the house top to bottom and washing all the bedding. You know what it's like when there's been a bug in the house.

I haven't had much appetite today and didn't eat a thing yesterday but did drink some lucozade sport last night when I started to feel better. Sticking to plain carby foods today to try and ease myself back into it. The thought of fruit or veg today is making me feel yucky and the black bean chilli I had planned for dinner is a definite no.

I've had a crossiant from Morrisons, and a pack of cheese and onion Pom bears so far. Will have some soup later on once kids are in bed and hopefully back to normal tomorrow.

Well done everyone on your losses! I keep reading and thinking I can't wait to be like some of you reporting that I've lost 3 or 4 stone but I need to remember that when so have done this before it took time. I lost 7stone in one year so I can't expect results after a week🤣

I weighed in on Tuesday and have apparently lost 8lbs but I know most of that is water weight. I'm hoping the sickness bug I've had will boost this weeks weight loss 😆 got to see the bright side eh?

SW 20st 4lbs
CW 19st 11lbs
First GW 17st

@PlumpAndGrump glad to hear you're feeling a lot better! The only silver lining to a tummy big is that wonderful weight loss....!

It's my Friday weigh in. I've lost 1lb, I'm disappointed as I thought it would have been more. I suspect my dinner portion sizes are a little big and I'm not moving enough. Going to try to make better progress next week but I suppose a lb is a lb is a lb!

Happy Friday all

This typo made me smile @Peony2021 - I have a permanent tummy big and am looking forward to wonderful weight loss. Hope you feel better soon@PlumpAndGrump and are compensated by a handsome loss.

PreesHeath · 04/08/2023 09:43

And I don't know about you, @Peony2021 but weight loss for me slows and increases at different point in my cycle, regardless of how much effort I've put in. I try to remember to focus on the trend over time, rather than the week's result in isolation, but it's very hard when you feel that pang of disappointment!

Hahaha this must be what happens when I type before my morning coffee 🙈 those tummy bigs are a nightmare... 😂

You're right - big picture and bigger downwards trend. 5lbs to date, so trying to focus on that! ☺️

MrTiddlesTheCat · 05/08/2023 09:03

I lost 1 kg (2 lb) this week, which is good, but I feel oddly disappointed.

I use weightwatchers menu cards, although I don't measure anything. I've always done this, so nothing has changed in my meals. The problem was in between meals, where I'd eat constant crap until I felt sick. Like 4 or 5 bars of chocolate in one sitting, every day. That hunger has now gone and I'm eating nothing at all between meals. You'd think that massive change would have a bigger impact.

Oh well, slowly slowly also works.

PreesHeath · 05/08/2023 09:17

Scrolling back I’ve just noticed @Echoes89 has a tremendous downward trend. Good luck for getting back on track before your holiday.

And well done @MrTiddlesTheCat 2lbs is a good result - imagine if you averaged that over a few months? The difference would be phenomenal. I have so many sts weeks that 2lbs is great for me. But as ever, it’s a long game.

Sunshineandrainbow · 05/08/2023 09:28

Peony2021 · 01/08/2023 12:39

Well done on the loss @PreesHeath

Hope everyone doing ok. I had a bit of a blip yesterday after a really good weekend and went all out on a steak dinner, mars ice cream and jelly babies... hoping to reduce damage today!

Has anyone any nice easy lunch ideas they could recommend? My poor air fryer is sick of watching me make bagel thin pizzas lol.

Going to weigh in on Friday, still feeling overall motivated but it's hard during summer when everyone tends to relax and drink a little more!

Do you like soup? I live the Sainsburys fresh lentil and tomato soup with a wholemeal pitta bread. Bbc good food also has great soup recipes.

How about an omelette with added chopped veg.

A picky plate of crackers, soft cheese/ hummus and chopped pepper, cucumber etc.

Quiche with salad.

A hot meat wrap with lots of salad added.

But I am loving the pizza bagel idea and might use for dinner.

Sunshineandrainbow · 05/08/2023 09:36

Morning all

Not having a great week, another holiday dawning that I am dreadfully over weight becuase I have been overweight for 25 years.

I am sure my over eating started when I was going through extreme domestic violence with Dd dad. I used to find comfort in food and it has stuck. I don't know how to break this overeating cycle. I have bought every slimming drug going and nothing has worked or I haven't let it work. I have considered paying for surgery but worried about the risk with anathestic if abroad.

I wouldn't book a holiday as I am happy at home but dd19 likes going so I go because of her. I don't have nice clothes to wear, will be taking what I wear to work long skirts and a tshirt style top.

I could lose at least 4 lbs in next 4 weeks but then I think what's the point it won't make any difference to the holiday and how I feel.

Sorry everyone just needed to off load.

SecondStarOnTheRight · 06/08/2023 21:16

Weigh in day for me today, and I've hit my first stone marker! Still a long way to go but it's started well. Slowing down a bit now but I think its due to the fact the water weight has gone but I plan to step up on exercise, its just calorie counting at the moment.

@Sunshineandrainbow, I’m so sorry about what you went through with your ex. I’m not surprised it has had a knock on effect. Have you had any talking therapy?

I’m due to go on holiday and I’m dreadful overweight so more like obese. But like you I’m doing it for my dd who is desperate to go. I think for a lot of us we need to be really kind to ourselves and love ourselves a bit more. I gained my weight caring for my two children who have autism. It has and is still very hard and I’ve found comfort in food as it’s the one element of my life that I have some control over. But I am uncomfortable, my back hurts and I worry that I’ll develop health conditions as it’s likely I’ll be their carer until I die and I’d rather than be later than sooner. But I take it one meal at a time. I’m trying not to restrict and not comparing my progress to others. I’ve abandoned the scales and I’m going to focus on where I’ll be this time next year. I’m also not expecting miracles.

ShinyPikachu · 07/08/2023 11:08

Welcome @SecondStarOnTheRight and well done on getting that first stone off!

Well done on the losses and non-scale victories to everyone.

@MrTiddlesTheCat just remember it all adds up in the long run and 2lb is great.

Hugs @Sunshineandrainbow - I've been feeling similar but about the family wedding we just had this weekend. I had been planning to lose loads of weight for it and it just didn't happen. It's so disheartening but please enjoy your holiday and we will be here for you when you get back. I'm pretty sure my weight issues stem from emotional abuse from my mother through my childhood. I just wish now that I was as fat as I actually wasn't when she was telling me how fat I was. But it definitely triggered me thinking that if I was fat already then I might as well just eat what I wanted too.

Sounds like a great plan @Dirtylittlewolf

I've had a good week. I think just the craziness of travelling for the wedding and all the running around I was doing when getting ready this past week helped me out, the week before I had gained 3.7lb and this week I've lost 3.2lb of that so I'm really happy with that considering all the drink and rich food I've had over the weekend.

I also forgot to update that I had my BP check after my smear and no problems. I also didn't get "the weight loss talk" like I was expecting but I did get a disapproving stare when I said I wasn't on any birth control. DH and I have had fertility problems in the past so we haven't used anything for years and years now and it's been lovely (my body definitely doesn't do well with hormonal birth control and I'm pretty sure I'm now in peri-menopause, we also would be perfectly happy if pregnancy did miraculously happen for us).

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 19st 1.8lb
Loss: 9.8lb

Sorry you're having a tough time, Sunshine. 💐

I agree with pp that it's important to take it one day at a time and to be as kind to ourselves as we would be if it was a friend in our situation.

Start weight in February 33 stone 6
Current weight 23 stone 8
Total weight loss 9 stone 8. I think.

Left to lose 15 or 16 stone. 😭

I think I'm officially the fattest person on Mumsnet.

Echoes89 · 08/08/2023 11:31

@PreesHeath thank you, scared of it going back up again, think it's been around 2 years of trying to get my weight down and it has definitely got harder to not put it back on
Little bit of progress, down a couple of lbs this week, 5 weeks until holiday, would be lovely to get closer to 12 stone by then to make me feel a bit better, just need to really stick with calorie counting for now

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 12st 7.75lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs
Mini goal for mid September - 12st 0lbs (maybe a bit unrealistic 😂)
