10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

@TheQuest1 I have done the same as you written a list of why I'm loosing the weight. My list is
To feel better about myself
To help with my back pain
To help lower blood pressure
To lower my cholesterol
To aid my mobility
To stop me feeling breathless all the time after walking
To enable me to walk further
To enable me to watch Foster Sons cricket matches which involves walking to venue
To enable me to play with dgs more
To be able to get around so much more on holiday
So I don't need DH to push me in wheelchair so much of time
To make me feel I have more energy
To make my family proud of me and stop them worrying about my health all the time
I have to lose certain amount each month for GP to continue to prescribe for me on NHS

Lots of reasons to avoid most of the carbs and fat.

I have frozen a punnet of raspberries and if I feel peckish I pop a frozen raspberry into my mouth or have a cup of tea. Once I lose my first 5 kg I will try to take short walks.

Pandermonium · 01/04/2023 20:58

Congratulations @Diedre44! Fantastic loss so glad the injection is working well for you. May I ask if you had to fight to get it from the gp? Or was it relatively ok?
I want to ask about it at my next appointment but not sure I can do another big fight.

Pandermonium · 01/04/2023 20:59

Well done @Brewskipa fantastic loss!

Toebeans1 · 01/04/2023 21:37

Good evening all!

Over the moon I weighed myself this morning and I’d lost 1 stone 1 pound in March 😊 also dropped from a size 20 to a size 18.

Spent March working alot on my issues with food and read some amazing books on the topic which have really helped with my mindset.

Wishing you all a lovely April x

Brewskipa · 02/04/2023 07:33

@Pandermonium thank you so much! My son has a rewards chart on display on the mantelpiece and I have a weight loss grid on display to keep me motivated 😂

@Toebeans1 can you recommend some reading on the topic?

chalkyc2 · 02/04/2023 08:49

Morning all. Only my second post and zero weight loss since my first. I am hoping I'm having a 'moment' this morning where I realise I need to get on track!! Weighed myself. Very bad!! Picked myself up and have put my exercise kit on and planning getting on the peloton after sorting the kids break fast. I went out last night and nothing fit - I was so uncomfortable.

So. I'm starting off light with cutting out on all the snacks and treats and sweet stuff. And let's go from there.

Weight this am: 116kg 😭😭
Goal weight: 65kg

Toebeans1 · 02/04/2023 09:44

Hey @Brewskipa 😊

So I have struggled with starving myself > binging > punishing myself cycle for about 10 years. Ive read 4 books recently that have helped me understand that punishing myself is counterproductive. At my biggest I was 23 stone and now I’m 20 so I like to think the change in mindset has helped as nothing else has worked over the years.

Books are:
Shahroo Izadi - The Kindness Method
Shahroo Izadi - The Last Diet
Christopher Fairburn - Overcoming Binge Eating
Alex Light - You Are Not A Before Picture (this one is more about body positivity and dealing with a fat phobic society in general)

If you only read one of them Id defos say The Kindness Method was the best.

Also recommend Diary Of a CEO podcast/ YouTube interview with Shahroo Izadi that’s how I discovered her. Absolutely brilliant.

xx

Urgh, I’ve had a really bad few weeks and have put on 4 pounds. My youngest is severely disabled and it’s really challenging. I bought 2 bananas and she’s opened them and stamped on them (we’d hidden them on top of the large fridge). I think I’m just very worn out and my cousin is coming over from Canada this week and I haven’t seen her in ages and I’m so fat (size 20).

WeirdPookah · 03/04/2023 10:03

I'm down another 9lbs since last time I posted.

Something I have been focusing on is improving my general health through eating a wide range of plant foods each week and getting over 40 different foods a week. It's very easy to get stuck eating the same things over and over, but our guts need a wide range, and so do we for the nutrients contained by different foods.

@Dirtylittlewolf that must be a tough situation to be in, it's so hard when our home situations are not conducive to what we want to achieve, I know I certainly found everything easier when I was single and living alone! Not that I want to change my life back to that, but it's not always easy to focus on yourself when family and home need us.

Beeholder · 04/04/2023 13:48

Feeling a bit disheartened today.
Weighed myself on Saturday and I was down to 19 stone 3.4 lbs, making a 6.2 lbs loss in two weeks. Then on Saturday I had a social event - drank some alcohol, had some snacks, and then had a breakfast sandwich the day after. Weighed myself today and I'm back up to 19 stone 5.6 lbs. 😔
Just feeling a bit deflated to be honest. I know I really should avoid alcohol, but I thought a one-off treat wouldn't be that much of an issue and I don't drink often at all. Going to try push through, but mentally not feeling great.

Starting weight: 19st 9.6lbs
Current weight: 19st 5.6lbs
Total loss: 4lbs.

DuckWithOneWing · 04/04/2023 21:34

I haven't lost much weight recently, but must've lost size as I'm now wearing clothes that are a size 14. And I've just come back from Zumba which I now absolutely love!

caringcarer · 05/04/2023 01:54

@Beeholder don't be down on yourself. You are still losing weight and you won't make same mistake again. I have a light day occasionally just fruit and veg. I will be having a light day if I eat a bit too much day before.

WeirdPookah · 05/04/2023 17:45

I am impressed with my own willpower tonight.

My husband is away for work and my children requested a dinner he doesn't eat for us to have, it's easy to make it bigger and freeze some portions for my lunches when he's away as well. I served myself a proper sized portion and froze 3 more proper sized ones, rather than eating a too big one and freezing 2 too big ones.

Did a PE with Joe this morning with my children since the rain is relentless, we did the closest date we could from the ones he did in lockdown, which we did all of!

ShinyPikachu · 05/04/2023 19:35

I lost 3lb this week so hopefully that's me back on track after being ill. I'm not counting calories again yet but just trying to snack less as I have a lot on right now, desperately need to get back to it next week properly though.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Well, back from holidays and things aren't quite as bad as I thought they would be.

I was on a cruise for 2 and a half weeks and so was expecting to put on at least a stone and I was prepared for that. I've actually put on 11lb so I'll take that! 7lb to lose to get back into the 18's.

I'm going to sit down next week and look at my calendar to set myself a new interim goal weight but for now:

Starting weight: 20.9
Current weight: 19.6
Goal weight: 15

DuckWithOneWing · 09/04/2023 10:24

I went for a run yesterday! I'm doing couch 2 5k, which is where you start off running and walking and as the weeks go on you end up running more and walking less. I did the first run of week 2 of the programme, which is running for 90 seconds then having a rest, and was surprised by how much it was doable.

Today my legs ache a little bit but not too bad. Unfortunately zumba isn't on this week because of the Easter holidays.

How many Easter eggs does everyone have? I have a chocolate sundae one from Aldi, so technically it's not an egg because it's shaped like an ice cream sundae in a tall glass. But it's really good! (I've already started eating it to spread the calories out) I highly recommend Aldi Easter eggs - I had one last year (or the year before) that was honey flavoured and had bees on which was the best egg I've ever had.

caringcarer · 09/04/2023 15:52

I've got one Easter egg and just ate about 1/4 of the egg. I'm planning on eating a little bit every other day.

caringcarer · 09/04/2023 16:50

In the past I have always put on about half a stone a week on a cruise, I'm ashamed to say. Hard to resist the delicious desserts, alcohol and late night pizza.

Sunshineandrainbow · 11/04/2023 09:18

Slowing dipping my toe back into this thread after a difficult month.
I can't keep hiding behind this weight as it makes me so sad
Back to calorie counting today 🙂

ShinyPikachu · 11/04/2023 11:52

I gained 2lb this week but I blame Easter. Blush Back to normal today.

The scales haven't been nice to me either - maybe gravity is just particularly strong at the moment? But although I've been exercising I haven't been eating that well, so I'm trying to get back on plan from yesterday. I've just shared a cauliflower dhal and steamed veg with my parrot - she really enjoyed it but I thought it was a bit bland. I'm going to Pilates later as Zumba isn't on this week ☹️

FatLadyTriesAgain · 12/04/2023 07:58

I fell off the wagon at the end of March when the school holidays started. Also four birthdays in April, all with irresistible cake. I've gained four pounds in two weeks, back up to 18.11.

Today, I'm tidying the fridge and my food plan as I need to be more frugal. Also quite a lot of housework and gardening for exercise.

Food plan is to eat only between 10am and 7pm.

Gradually increase salad and veg.

Keep it simple - B is porridge and scrambled egg sandwich/toast.

L is lots of salad with sandwiches.

T can of soup with extra veg from freezer. Or a small portion of what everyone else is having, with lettuce and cucumber etc.

My temporary target was 18st by 8 May. That would mean losing losing a pound every two days, which I've never managed in my life. So I'm going to plod on in the hope of one pound every four or five days and be 17.07 by the school summer holidays.

Sunshineandrainbow · 12/04/2023 10:13

Have a great day @FatLadyTriesAgain sounds like a good plan. Will the tea fill you up enough.? Could you have some yog and frozen fruit after tea?
We are similar weight I would love to get under 18 stone.

Dirtylittlewolf · 12/04/2023 12:06

I’m definitely aiming for a better day today. Kids are at home which always throws me out of routine

FatLadyTriesAgain · 14/04/2023 07:15

I've had a couple of lovely days @Sunshineandrainbow thanks 😀. Mostly because I was out in the sun again tidying the garden. I came in when there was a sudden flurry of hailstones, though!

re the food plan. I appreciate you saying about the yogurt and fruit, as I don't eat much fruit at all. I could have some late afternoon. I don't eat much in the evening as I sleep better when I'm less full.

I've ordered raspberries and yogurt for this morning's delivery.
