10st plus to lose - part 2

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

I guess what I’ve been doing is fasting 16 h and then had a 8 h eating window during the week except for two small 70 cal probiotic yogurts I have to have with morning and mid day meds I can’t take into empty stomach and although it’s not easy it seems this is the best way for me to do this on weekdays if I’m just home.

TheQuest1 · 07/03/2023 16:53

I’m annoyingly stalled at -9 kg . Really want the 1 more off this week at least and then a couple of more before travelling ideally since I’ll be at a risk of gaining while eating my parents cooking . I met a friend for lunch and am now feeling extremely tired . I’m definitely very worn out by the travelling ,illness and weigh loss in the last 3 w and might have gone out too soon after only just about getting better .I wasn’t really hungry at all and although the food tasted good I didn’t have much of an appetite and ate incredible slowly compared to my friend . I had a piece and a half of grainy toast with a smear of butter and mackerel then half a super thin steak ,some tomatoes on the side and just three chips . Then a milky tea while waiting for my car to arrive .when I got home I felt really weary like I couldn’t do anything I had to but managed to deal with the dog , minimal downstairs housework inc laundry and to make myself the coffee . I’ll have to retreat to bed when DD gets home . I’ve been trying to take a few vitamins and things in the evenings despite increased reflux ( maybe because of having to up my regular meds because of the illness ) and I’ll have to start on the multivitamin incase I’m missing something . Tomorrow I’ll have a nice salad for lunch full of good stuff to get some nutrients in . Tonight it’ll just be some minestrone with cheese on toast and fruit with Greek yogurt I think . Have to admit I’m starting to get hungry now . I did feel smaller in my clothes and thought my face looked more narrow and better with my hair down when I went out . My friend said it was noticeable too . It has been 3-4 y since I was at this weight so a while . In the next 5 kg off I’d be where I was maybe 5 y ago and and a few less than that about 8 y ago so I’m dreaming about getting that off. Im trying to keep the fate but it’s so much harder to loose any with my meds and health problems and I can’t push myself in the same way as before hence no 800 cal a day diets for me now . I’ve just got to keep going with the not eating until a late lunch and then maybe reduce carbs at dinner and have more veg and water if it doesn’t start moving soon . Hope everyone else is managing ok and having more losses over the weekend and the beginning of the week than me !

Thanks all! Been doing well this week and havent found calorie counting difficult really. First weigh in on Friday!

Pandermonium · 07/03/2023 18:42

Good luck with tour first weigh in @BitchImTheSecretIngredient!

WeirdPookah · 07/03/2023 18:45

@BitchImTheSecretIngredient that is great! Friday is my choice of weigh in day too.

Pandermonium · 08/03/2023 12:40

I was really disheartened about putting weight back on, but I've weighed myself today and I'm down 2kg, down to 116.4kg (my scales won't change back to stone after getting too wet: thanks kids 😄)
And I've done my measurements, I'm down an inch on my waist and hips 🎉

TheQuest1 · 08/03/2023 18:10

Well done @Pandermonium ! I’m still stuck at -9 kg but it came off so quick that I guess that’s not surprising. Only had a lunch salad around 5 ish today until then just yogurt and a milky coffee and water . Will try to not eat much more . Feeling down in general with my poorly body …

TheQuest1 · 09/03/2023 07:49

Yes , finally -10 kg! Now I’ve just got to keep going through the despairing depressed moments ,and learn to eat even less dinner and stop as soon as I feel at all full . I will put less on my plate too but I did enjoy my salad with chicken and orzo pasta lunch ,and fish and chips dinner , nearly finished both . I have definitely already gotten used to
eating less . Day before at lunch out I only had half of the very thin steak and 3 chips ( I did have a small started though ) everything tasted good again after being sick but I just felt full and like I didn’t want it . Changes are being made , I hope I can make them permanent …
Wishing others progress this week too, however big or small !

Dirtylittlewolf · 09/03/2023 09:38

Finally at 16 stone which is a 12 pound loss since early Jan which doesn’t feel brilliant but I could definitely cut out more and I really need to up my water in take.

WildImaginings · 09/03/2023 09:57

Morning all, amazing to see all of the new posts on here! Have just about managed to catch up, really enjoying reading everyone's different approaches etc.

I forgot to check in on Monday to post my loss and have had a super stressful week but have just weighed this morning and another 1lb to add to the loss!

I am finally in the 18's and 1.5lb away from a 2 stone loss. If I can get within a pound of my interim goal weight by the end of next week (when I go on hols) I will be thrilled.

As I've said before, I know I will likely put on a stone on this holiday - I'm away for just over 2 weeks and I'm not denying myself any of the food and drinks I want and I plan on enjoying it and relaxing. I do walk a lot on holiday when out and about but I'll try and get some more steps in on the days where we're not venturing out anywhere. I want to be in the best possible position before I go so that I'm still on over a stone total loss when I get back.

Starting weight: 20.9
Current weight: 18 stone 10.5
Goal weight: 15
Interim goal weight (by 20/03): 18.7

DuckWithOneWing · 09/03/2023 12:47

This is incredibly outing, but today is the 2 year anniversary of the photo that made me decide to lose weight! I've lost 8 stone since then so I decided to re-enact it to see the difference. The top is so loose now whereas before it was far too tight.

WeirdPookah · 09/03/2023 13:12

@DuckWithOneWing you have put in a lot of hard work to achieve that. I hope you are proud of that.

TheQuest1 · 09/03/2023 13:55

@DuckWithOneWing I can’t believe you’ve managed to loose so much !!!! That’s amazing ! You look great and what an accomplishment! I am having a very hard time believing myself but seeing that others have managed it spurs me on definitively . I know it is possible if I just don’t give up . The amount I’m trying to loose without surgery or anything is so big I can’t see how on earth I could do it in my bleakest moments . Next goal is - 2 st and that’s quite near just 2,6 kg (5/6 lb)now that I’ve gotten to -10 kg . It’s hard to except this will all slow down but i knows inevitable since it came off super fast so far thanks to having been sick .

WildImaginings · 09/03/2023 20:27

Well done @DuckWithOneWing absolutely brilliant!

DuckWithOneWing · 09/03/2023 23:15

@TheQuest1 Your start weight is about the same as mine, and your goal weight is also about the same. At first I didn't think I could do it, and I'm still not entirely sure I can, but I'm still trying.

Thanks everyone. Seeing the photos has inspired me to get back on track.

TheQuest1 · 10/03/2023 01:43

Thanks for the encouragement @DuckWithOneWing . You have done most of it already so I definitely believe you can finish it if you haven’t yet !
I am trying to think small atm and look at small goals . The fact is I haven’t been at this weight since before the pandemic and the year before that when I was doing my last round of ivf so for 3-4 y . In the next 5-10kg off I’ll get to 5-8 y territory and that’ll be huge for me ! I’m noticing the difference now my back is definitely better , my middle feels less uncomfortable and my face looks little more narrow already . When I’m hungry or get a momentary craving I’m just thinking how it’s not worth it and that I can eat another time . The worst for me has been the tiredness but that’s mostly because of my chronic illness and having been sick which wore me out totally . That makes this doubly hard . Somehow I plan to go on for the long haul , I’ve got my eyes set on the half way mark I’m dreaming about that and I’ll have to get there before the end of the year . I’ve done a quarter so 30 kg left . Can’t imagine it but it must be possible !

BitchImTheSecretIngredient · 10/03/2023 08:07

@DuckWithOneWing well done! That's fantastic!

WeirdPookah · 10/03/2023 10:17

I lost 3lbs this week!!

We are having a takeaway tomorrow, my husband and children have a sports grading and they are going to be exhausted and hopefully be passing some serious grades for my older daughter and husband, so they are earning their takeaway!
I have zero intention of making any choices other than what I actually want! I've been making conscious choices all week and even chose to use the torture on my butt exercise bike as it's snowed here and I don't want to go for a walk.

It's definitely harder to eat lighter calories when the weather makes you feel you should be tucked up in a pile of mashed potatoes! Making vegan stovies tonight, vegetable heavy, super warming.

BitchImTheSecretIngredient · 10/03/2023 16:43

Well done @WeirdPookah!

BitchImTheSecretIngredient · 10/03/2023 16:43

I lost 5.5lb in my first week. Chuffed with that :)

FatLadyTriesAgain · 11/03/2023 09:44

Down another pound, now weighing 18.11. I've had a horrible cold for a week, and need to get back on track after all the sugary drinks and cough sweets.

WeirdPookah · 11/03/2023 09:52

@BitchImTheSecretIngredient great start! I hope you can use that momentum to continue!

NerdyIsMyMiddleName · 11/03/2023 10:19

Hi! Hoping to join in too - have been losing weight very slowly over about a year and a half, but at starting weight had about 10st to lose.

So - SW 19st 1 lb
CW 16st 9lb
GW - dunno, maybe about 10st? Still a long way away! But trying to get to 16st by April (as that means I won't be in the 'morbidly obese' category any more - yayyyy!)

I can't lose weight very fast as I'm both menopausal (52 yo) and hypothyroid, but just plugging away at it and counting even the tiniest weight lost each week as a step in the right direction.

DuckWithOneWing · 11/03/2023 10:45

Well done for the losses @WeirdPookah @FatLadyTriesAgain @BitchImTheSecretIngredient

@NerdyIsMyMiddleName We're not going to hold you to losing exactly 10 stone so it's fine to not know your goal weight! I still don't know mine - I've kinda narrowed it down to either 14, 12 or 10 depending on how I feel when you ask me. April is closer than I think it should be, so that's about 3lbs a week if you mean by the start of April - it is possible but also fairly tricky.

I went to pilates yesterday for the first time in years. I'm really pleased! I managed it even though I can't use my left hand/arm very well - it was a special class for people with injuries, but I was still worried I would struggle. I'm going again on Monday! Then we went to a family member's for a meal, and had arranged that it would be vaguely healthy. Today I can feel my muscles aching a bit but in a good way so yesterday must have done something!

NerdyIsMyMiddleName · 11/03/2023 10:55

@DuckWithOneWing Yes, April does seem to be heading towards me at quite a pace - I set that goal a few weeks ago and it may need some tweaking! Maybe May.... 😂
