Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! October’s Thread here’s Novembers Thread.

🎄8 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right in! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead with a few tweaks here and there and it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

@SanFranBear Loved your post … especially the bit about the snogging 💋 Lived with the same lovely fella 30+ years so snogging doesn’t feature that often 😬 I say make the most of it whilst you can!

Hope your soreness soon subsides @fallfallfall !

Such a fun post @SanFranBear how wonderful to have a great evening out and I think it does your spirit good to throw caution to the wind from time to time. DH and I are empty nesters since September and are enjoying being able to go where we want when we want without taking our dd's into consideration. It helps balance out how much we miss their little faces and what I call randon snuggles - where I would go and give them a big cuddle out of nowhere when they were studying in their rooms. Planning on a lot of that when they get back in December.
Feeling so much better today so will get back on the campaign trail today.
Day 55
SW:143.2
CW:135.2
GW:126
8lbs down and 9.2lbs to go.

ImALittlePea · 13/11/2022 17:17

I hope your day got better yesterday @Cloudberries123 I always find it super easy to spiral into f*ck it mode on days like that.

Haha what a fun night @SanFranBear 😁

Glad you're feeling a bit better today @Was126orbustandmaybebust

I had a very bready day yesterday 😬 but also did a lot of walking; it's about half an hour into town from where I live, and walked both ways for lunch and a couple of drinks with a friend. We had bread and dipping oil to start, then I had burger and chips. And then for dinner last night I had a camembert and French stick, and more fizz while watching Strictly. We also took the kids for a stomp round the block in the morning, and went to watch the fireworks in the evening which was another walk to the venue and back, and was very impressive!

I've definitely felt the bread bloat today but hopefully won't last too long.

Today's meals:
Lunch - leftover fajitas from Friday's dinner
Dinner - was meant to be roast but I left it too late so made a mac and cheese. Not super nutritional but all homemade and I added greens into the sauce and served extra on the side.

I got the hankering for a glass of wine earlier but decided not to, as I know once the bottle is open I'd either finish it slowly over the course of the evening, or I'd have the rest one evening in the week.

I hope everyone has had a pleasant weekend and is ready for a fresh new week!

Cloudberries123 · 13/11/2022 20:46

Thanks for the good wishes all, it was a bit of a crap day and I did eat my feelings a bit BUT not to the extent I used to. Once you get into the habit of listening to your body, you can feel how the junk food doesn't make you feel good.

Today felt like it might be the same - ate the 2nd half of a packet of coconut macaroons for breakfast 🙄 - but started to feel crap so went back to nutritious food.

Breakfast - coconut macaroons. Tea

Lunch - boiled eggs, grated carrot, sauerkraut, pate on sunflower seed bread, green leaves. A few blackberries

Dinner - pizzas on wholemeal tortilla wraps, done under the grill. Homemade tomato sauce, chopped peppers, bacon, cheese

Tomorrow is the start of a fresh new week and a chance to make really good choices for our health! 🥗🥩

MirandaWest · 14/11/2022 11:07

Managed to not snack much at the weekend which is much better for me 😊

And got my best time at parkrun for over 8 years on Saturday. My local parkrun is very flat and is also a 5 lap one so I decided to go for it this weekend. Time was 29:03 and as that parkrun always runs long then according to my Garmin my 5k time was 28:16 😮

Next up is a (hilly) 10k on Sunday so will see how that goes

TheRealHousewife · 14/11/2022 14:45

Good Morning ... or rather afternoon!

Dreaded virus stuck again. Testing neg for c19. Every muscle/ joint aches and on top of fibromyalgia it really debilitating. Nose streaming and a crumby headache. No jobs done or cooking. OH has made a what looks like a lovely lunch of chicken fajitas but taste buds on the wonk.

Cloudberries123 · 14/11/2022 16:02

Ugh, sorry to hear you're ill again RealHousewife make sure you get more rest than usual!

Back to work this week, albeit only part-time, but I'm shattered and it's only Monday!

Upside - brisk hilly walk there and back, plus I can't eat while I'm there.
Downside - very real temptation of filling my face with everything in reach once me and baby get home. Today that was 2 big portions of yoghurt, Alpen, applesauce and berries... But I think I'm going to have to have food ready for when we get in, or it will be cupboard raiding carnage 😅
Another thing to plan and organise every day, sigh...

Wishing everyone a good start to the week.

ImALittlePea · 14/11/2022 17:06

Oh no @TheRealHousewife I really hope it's a short lived virus and you're on the mend soon.

Yes unfortunately there is no end to what we need to plan and organise in life @Cloudberries123 - but you'll appreciate the effort you make when you opt for healthier choices during the week! I hope your first day back went well?

Been quite a productive day overall. A friend popped for coffee and before I knew it, it was nearly 2pm, I'd missed lunch and had to whizz to town for bits before the school run 🤦‍♀️ so I had a quick slice of toast with dairylea and a pack of the kids crisps 😬 felt bad as I didn't offer her lunch and she was there all of lunchtime, but we were nattering away and I just didn't think of it. Dinner tonight is spag bol with either a pile of greens or a nice big salad on the side. No garlic bread for me today!

Cloudberries123 · 14/11/2022 19:32

It did go well thanks LittlePea I know I'm going to find it a good challenge and enjoy it after this first hectic week of settling back in!

I smiled at your description of missing lunch because of chatting over coffee with your friend. Not many things can make me forget mealtimes, but a good chat is one of them!

MercuryRising · 14/11/2022 20:39

Hi all. Really sorry I'm not managing to keep up with the thread but for accountability here are this week's results. I am determined to start keeping up with you all daily.

Nov sw- 185
Nov goal - 177
Ultimate goal - 161

7th Nov - 181
14th Nov- 179
21st Nov-
28th Nov-
30th Nov -

SanFranBear · 14/11/2022 23:36

You're really close to your November goal, Mercury - well done!

And well done to you too, Cloud - first day's back can be such hard work! A good challenge is always great though!

And another well done for your Parkrun PB, Miranda.. that sounds quick!

Sorry to hear you've gone down with the lurgy again, RealHousewife.. been a bit nonstop for you but hopefully this will be the last of it and you'll be radiant as we hit the festive season!

Sounds like you've had a lovely day though, LittlePea - friends are just the best thing in life!

I need to get back into the groove after a few days of not being too mindful (and I definitely need to do something to mitigate the many cocktails of the weekend!) In the office tomorrow which always stands me in good stead and then leftover curry from the weekend which I really enjoyed and wasn't too calorific!

Off to make everyone's lunch - LittlePea is sadly so right, Cloud... it never ends! But it is always worth it.. well, most of the time (doesn't help I work opposite a McDonalds although have resisted their new Crispy Chicken burger so far even though it looks sooooo good!)

fallfallfall · 15/11/2022 00:37

hello everyone. i'm okay over here BUT the food and exercise bit is beyond dreadful due to the mouth and inability to chew veggies so loads of carbs.
i will be back and accountable as soon as things heal up. i still can't bend over, when i do the pressure is intense and certainly feels like i will pop something.

milkfromthesleepycow · 15/11/2022 06:57

@fallfallfall sounds really difficult. Mushed veggies? This too will pass. Mantra for hard times

Not been posting much but plodding on. Have joined a gym and first session yesterday. Went well and although I ache today I can still walk which is a definite bonus!

Still struggling to balance food with exertion. Ended up with an attack of the biscuits last night as I was at work until after 8. What I really wanted was my dinner!!

SanFranBear · 15/11/2022 07:12

I've been doing lots of overtime at the mo (very rare and precious in my job) but has seen me working until silly o'clock so, like you milk, has seen me reach for one too many snacks of late. Been sticking to Skinny bars or the Fibre One cake square things but I should really stop as they're a slippery slope.

Sorry you're still feeling less than great, fallfall - slow and steady wins the race so don't push yourself too hard, as frustrating as it might be. Agree that mashed veg or fruit purees could be a good substitute for the cards but, personally, I find stodge a but of a comfort when I'm not feeling so good so perhaps just accept its going to be a bit carb-heavy until you feel better!

Properly wet and horrible here - dark and hasn't let up since I got up. I want to snuggle under a duvet with a big bag of crisps and not leave the house. Sadly, busy one today and lots to do so not an option...

TofuonToast · 15/11/2022 14:21

Bonjour! I’m not sure how much I need to lose as I’ve not weighed in a while so will be WOWing tomorrow. My happy weight is 9.5 stone. Have a feeling I’m about 2 stone over that. Weight started creeping on over last three years when I changed from office job to wfh. Any tips on how to manage this? I’m eating a large salad for lunch (700 cal), 2 pieces of fruit for snacks (200 cal) and a decent dinner with salad (800 cal). Weekend more flexible with some chocolate thrown in the mix. I also do a fair bit of exercise. Running/sport/much walking. Is this reasonable for weight loss?

ImALittlePea · 15/11/2022 16:33

It was indeed a lovely few hours with a friend ☺️

Great progress @MercuryRising well done!

Sorry to hear yours struggling @fallfallfall any comfort in thick veggie based soups? Take it easy ❤️

How are you today @TheRealHousewife

Slowish day here, which has been nice.
Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies and a dairylea triangle
Dinner - a mini roast (with sausages, veggie for me, instead of a chicken). Will follow with greek yoghurt and pomegranate
Snack - had a playdate earlier and friends brought some fresh bakery cookies round. Couldn't resist 😜

Remember why you wanted to lose in the first place? What were those reasons? How would future you like you to act now?

Cloudberries123 · 15/11/2022 19:23

I'm with you on the wintery craving for carbs fallfallfall and I think RealHousewife mentioned it too. Although I agree with others that you should go easy on yourself - you're recovering from surgery after all! If you're craving carbs, then listen to your body, and just stay mindful so that they're good, healthy carbs as much as possible, instead of rubbish.

Speaking of mindful, I've really started to focus on quality of food in the last couple of weeks, and it's made this weight loss thing so much more enjoyable. Definitely have had a couple of 'attacks of the biscuits' 😂 but there is so much delicious variety out there and if you're basically a greedy pig (like me) then piling a plate with all sorts of yummy things doesn't feel like deprivation.

Second day back at work and already feeling less zonked by it. I left wrap ingredients out on the counter so that I could grab them before I went on a cupboard cruise.

Breakfast - 1 slice sunflower seed toast, 2 fried eggs. Coffee, water

Lunch - 2 wholemeal wraps, cheese, rocket, sauerkraut. Apple. WATER

Dinner - Sausage pasta, tomato sauce, big pile of blanched greens with butter & salt

Weigh in tomorrow!

milkfromthesleepycow · 16/11/2022 07:03

WOW STS this week. I'm definitely on a plateau. Eating still not brilliant and I've lost some of the good habits I've learned over this year.

There's a good thread about things that you're happy about now you've lost weight that I've been reading for inspiration

Will be focusing on water intake this week and more vegetables. Got a few days off work so will keep trying

Onwards and inwards 😁

TofuonToast · 16/11/2022 07:25

Well I’ve done my first official weigh in. 10st 13lbs. Could be better. Could be worse. Aiming for 10.10 next week.

TheRealHousewife · 16/11/2022 08:02

Good Morning All

WOW - not weighed today. Fingers crossed for you all 🤞

Still a bit under the weather 🤧 On top of which stomach ache saw me awake at 04:00 and not been able to get back to sleep. To say I feel like death warmed up is an understatement but felt I owed it to you all to post something. Not read up on thread as yet and intend to this afternoon.

OP posts:
Was126orbustandmaybebust · 16/11/2022 11:17

Sorry to hear so many people are ill.
Stomach ache is horrid @TheRealHousewife and I can identify with feeling like the weather makes everything more difficult.
Day 58
SW:143.2
CW:135
GW:126
8.2lbs down and 9lbs to go.
I had hoped for a little more but a loss is a loss I suppose.

Cloudberries123 · 16/11/2022 19:17

Great start TofuonToast and well done milk and Was126

Really hope you feel better soon RealHousewife!

I have NOT weighed today as I totally forgot until well into meals and fluid intake etc and I'm letting myself be precious about that 😁 I need all the small wins I can get and don't want to feel derailed by a 'gain' from a meal.

Good day foodwise though, being back at work really limits how much I can eat.

Breakfast - shop sandwich, coffee

Lunch - big bowl yogurt, Alpen, applesauce, blackberries. Apple, instant decaf

Dinner - sweet potato wedges, pan of leek, bacon, cabbage and cream (delish!), instant decaf

And lots of water

ImALittlePea · 16/11/2022 20:23

Well done to everyone who WoW'd today, and those who didn't but are staying accountable on here!

I really hope this passes for you soon @TheRealHousewife

Today has been quite on track:
Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies & cheese triangle
Dinner - homemade beef burger in a bun with lettuce, sauce, cheese and onion, and homemade potato wedges in BBQ seasoning
Snacks (unfortunately) - 2 jaffa cakes, an oat latte, one choc chip cookie and the remnants of DD's crisps (four wotsits lol), as well as my normal teas.

Don't normally snack, but had a couple of moments today where I felt a bit faint - we ate later tonight and I definitely didn't eat enough during the day for the amount I've done.
