🍁 LOSE IT! November 2022 🍁 🎄8 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! October’s Thread here’s Novembers Thread.

🎄8 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right in! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead with a few tweaks here and there and it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Good Morning All

Thank you @CrimsonAlligator Well done on getting the work based support! Sending you positive thoughts.

@MirandaWest Well done on keeping on running! In regards to sweets … buying/eating/being knackered … you’ve learnt that sugar is a foe rather than your friend. Up water & protein which will help keep you Satiated whilst you ride the sugar cravings. Hold fast, they will soon dissipate.

Hi @Slightlystressedwife ive had a notification that you tagged me. I can’t find the post to respond and don’t want you to think I’m ignoring you. Hope you’re ok!

Haha yes @TheRealHousewife I keep trying to tell myself to weigh on Wednesdays instead of Friday but I just prefer the end of the week round up! Hence WoF for me 😬😂

Definitely need to start banking that Christmas wiggle room soon!

MirandaWest · 11/11/2022 13:03

Managed to not have any snacks this morning 😊Which also means I feel hungry at lunch time which is also good.

Cloudberries123 · 11/11/2022 13:33

MirandaWest I'm in solidarity with you on returning to focus after overdoing it 💪🏻 Completely relate to the bad energy cycle of eating sweets too.

RealHousewife Glad my post made you chuckle but I'm hoping fannying around isn't ruder than I've realised? 🤭

LittlePea Good to hear the casserole was mostly a success and that your DH makes up for food fussiness by being helpful in other ways 😁

TheRealHousewife · 11/11/2022 14:19

@ImALittlePea I see. That makes sense and thank you for clarifying 😊

@MirandaWest well done on swerving the snacks! Hope your lunch is satisfying and satiating so you don’t succumb to the snack dragon later 🐉

@Cloudberries123 No not rude, just funny. Not heard the saying for years. Same as when ever I hear someone say ‘knob head’ , makes me chuckle too. Don’t often hear it any more.

I've just discovered a lovely surprise. I knew I was near the bone in my current account what with payments in/payments out. Logged into my on-line banking app and my balance was £1,000 over what it should be. Delved into my transactions to discover that at the end of October I won £1,000 on Post Code Lottery. Never received any email. Had emails for £10 & £20 wins but not this one. I’ve donated it to my OH as he’s had car trouble and partakes in an expensive hobby.

OH @TheRealHousewife what a lovely surprise :)
all's heeling well here although not allowed to exercise for 10 days, or bend over, and i'm still eating dental soft for a while.
the dexamethasone to decrease swelling of the jaw resulted in a 5lb weight gain...one of the pills gives me insomnia (two hours last night, not even back to back, and the antibiotics...well i won't bore you any longer...)
i'm so so looking forward to getting back into the grove and loosing those last 10 lbs :(
B: oatmeal
L: avocado and egg
D: soup

ImALittlePea · 12/11/2022 07:42

Wow @TheRealHousewife what a lovely bonus! Nice to have the pressure eased a little 🤩

Nishky32 · 12/11/2022 09:03

Just trying to catch up with everybody’s posts! I lost 4lbs this week

starting: 14 11
current: 14 5.5

goal: 11 12

LadyWithLapdog · 12/11/2022 09:08

Well done to everybody losing weight or finding money 💰 and keep going those of us who are a bit slower :)

TheRealHousewife · 12/11/2022 09:20

Good Morning All

@fallfallfall @ImALittlePea yes it was a lovely surprise ! A really nice bonus!

On the opposite side of the same coin we had another financial incident yesterday. OH received a text message from his bank inquiring as to if he’d a recent debit for £83.00. He hadn’t. The text message came through on his current official message thread and the number it was asking him to call was a similar number although starting with 0800 rather than the normal 0345 (I think) I told him to not respond via the link in the official looking text but either ring the normal number from my phone or access via his app. He spoke directly with his bank/fraud department. They confirmed that they HAD NOT sent a text and it was a scam. My OH works in telecoms and he says for the scammers to send the text they must have hacked into the Banks telecommunications switch/hub were customers telephone numbers/messages are stored and inserted their own message with a live link direct to the scammers. In a nutshell, even if you receive an ‘official’ text similar to what you’ve received before, contact direct rather through than any links.

@Nishky32 Thats a great result! Well done! 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Minestrone soup. GF tiger bloomer.
Meal 2 - Chicken stir fry.
Tea, black coffee and water. Orange. Pecans.

Well done to everyone losing weight. I have no idea what I weigh today as I had my covid booster yesterday - Comirnaty-Bivalent - and from about 10pm I have felt horrendous. Not just fevers and muscle aches but what felt like a complete failure of my digestion system at 4am. Anyone had this one and been ill? If so, please tell me it passes and quickly.

ImALittlePea · 12/11/2022 10:09

Oof what a close call @TheRealHousewife scammers are such nasty bastards but they are unbelievably sophisticated these days. My poor MIL was scammed of £1k a couple of weeks ago. Awful. Well done to you and OH for going direct to the bank.

I haven't had the booster @Was126orbustandmaybebust but I hope you're feeling better very very soon 💐

Nishky32 · 12/11/2022 10:45

@Was126orbustandmaybebust have not had mine yet but my husband was ill after his.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 12/11/2022 10:53

Thank you @ImALittlePea and @Nishky32 for your thoughts and information.
I'm draped across the bed sipping at a cup of tea and cursing a wasted Saturday. I think I will eat light today and hope for the best - feel like someone has taken a cheese grater to the skin all over my body too. Ho Hum.

Nishky32 · 12/11/2022 11:25

Hope it clears up soon, that sounds awful 💐

TheRealHousewife · 12/11/2022 14:10

@Was126orbustandmaybebust I had my covid and flu at the same time (one in each arm) I felt ill for a couple of days but can’t remember the specifics.
Yours sounds a particularly unpleasant reaction. Hope you feel better soon! Todays not totally wasted, you’re giving yourself the best chance of a swift recovery with some much needed self care ❤️

@ImALittlePea Sorry to hear your mil lost money to the scamming thieves! 😡 They bring such panic, sorrow and hardship to the victims. Scum!

OP posts:
fallfallfall · 12/11/2022 14:44

@Was126orbustandmaybebust sorry to report dh and I both had it in early oct with zero side effect not even a sore arm.
jaw and cheek definitely more sore and maybe even puffy today…I must have overdone it.
meanwhile no lack of soft foods to eat and no ability to exercise will spell horrid news for me weight wise.

Cloudberries123 · 12/11/2022 15:35

Afternoon all, and congrats on the loss @Nishky32 and the ££ gain @TheRealHousewife !

I've been in a foul mood since the morning and battling not to comfort eat. Had 2 breakfasts, sunflower seed toast at home, then café breakfast - cappuccino and 'Christmas' toastie.

Stupidly light lunch of grilled salmon fillet with just a handful of raspberries as I was cooking. That contributed to the piece of carrot cake I ate afterwards, with another coffee.

About to go and try to salvage the day by having a proper filling snack and then a hot shower.

Onwards and inwards!!

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 12/11/2022 15:55

Gosh that's interesting as you are both the only ones I heard about that had the Pitzer Comirnaty-Bivalent booster and had zero side effects. You were very lucky - I wish I had been, though I suppose it is worth it for the double varient protection. I didnt have anything really with the other jabs.
Nice to see an onwards and inwards @Cloudberries123

fallfallfall · 12/11/2022 17:39

@Was126orbustandmaybebust its the only booster the entire country ordered.
roll out smoothly coordinated. We chose to get the booster because we were traveling, we didn’t want to end up unable to cross a boarder or get a flight due to not having it.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 12/11/2022 18:12

That’s good to know. Everything aches and I feel so nauseous but I’m still glad to have had it. Just looked at my Fitbit and I have walked 395 steps today!

SanFranBear · 12/11/2022 19:59

Sat on my sofa, feeling a little delicate this evening and I imagine my step count would be similar to yours, Was126! But totally worth it as had such a great night on the tiles - had a Spoons curry and then far too much vodka and shots. We ended up going clubbing (my God - I couldn't tell you the last time I went) and got some lovely snogs from a handsome man which was obviously fantastic fun 😆

I've had all the Covid jabs I'm entitled to for now - not sure if they're going to open up these boosters for under 50s? I do have my flu jab this week however so hoping not to feel bad afterwards... hope you're soon feeling much better soon!

What a lovely surprise on the money, RealHousewife - takes the pressure of slightly so your DH can get his car sorted easily. Scammers are evil - preying on the vulnerable... unfortunately, I don't think the penalties are that bad and so mo real deterrent - make me so cross! Well done for spotting it!!

Hope you dodged all the snacks, Cloud. Yesterday was obviously a write-off and started out either stodge to settle the ole tummy but have been pretty mindful for the rest and had yummy soup for dinner. Looking forward to a good sleep!
