I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I've been thrown out of HealthExpress for not losing enough weight (they had a private supply of ozempic for existing clients). Signed up elsewhere and I can see that you have to lose 5% of your starting weight in 12 weeks or they will discontinue. I am hoping they will let me have some more especially as I never got up to 1mg which is surely how much you really need to get going. Maybe it is all a waste of money for me but I know it helped me keep my appetite down - I think I just wasn't trying hard enough - be aware.

At QuickMeds I've been told that I had to lose 5% of starting weight by 6 months! 12 weeks is less than half that....

mathis2006 · 18/11/2022 12:29

How straighfoward was it to get it precribed? Did you need to upload documents? Like pictures?

HermioneWeasley · 18/11/2022 12:49

@mathis2006 ive only used My Juniper but very straight forward- I just put in height and weight and answered some standard medical
questions and I was approved within 24 hours.

no weight loss again today but I have taken my belt in a notch

No documents needed for me Mathis, filled in details on Juniper UK, was then sent a question (are you suicidal!?) which I answered, then all approved and dispatched very quickly.
Day 3 here and I would describe myself as disinterested in food. I am eating, cos it would be stupid not to, but much smaller portions than before and zero sugar cravings. I'm on 0.25g, after day one I had lost a pound, but not weighing again til a week has passed. No real side effects, v slightly spacey, but it's not unpleasant.

HermioneWeasley · 18/11/2022 16:03

I have checked with My Juniper and they don’t have a target amount of weight you need to lose in 12 weeks, so they won’t kick you out (I’m sure not if they keep getting our money!)

Took first injection Mon night, scales is down over 3lbs since Tues morning my jeans are fitting more comfortably, they felt tight from bloating lately and they seem more comfortable all over since this morning.

Appetite really reduced, a simple chicken and cheese sandwich for lunch and I'm full since, had some fruit at 4pm but I could've gone until dinnertime without anything.

Thanksforasking78 · 19/11/2022 10:30

I stepped the injection up to 0.5 on Thursday. I’ve been absolutely exhausted for 2 days. I think I feel a bit better today. Did anyone else experience this with the change in dose?
Definitely feel the restriction and drop in appetite now. Even drinking water takes concentration. Not sure I would want to increase to 1.0 at this stage.
Hows everyone doing?

Happierwithouthim · 19/11/2022 17:47

Thanks how long were you at .25 dose.

Happierwithouthim · 19/11/2022 17:47

Thanks how long were you at .25 dose.

I did 3 weeks at 0.25 and found it was making little difference towards the end. As there was extra in the pen I did a 0.5 dose with 2 injections for the fourth dose. I’ve felt better as today has gone on thankfully

That80sgirl · 20/11/2022 02:26

Hi op can you please send me juniper code,i cant seem to dm you.many thanks

HermioneWeasley · 20/11/2022 09:32

Glad you’re feeling better @Thanksforasking78

@That80sgirl I’ve DM’d you the code

according to the scales I have gained 2lbs this week and I cannot work out why because the illness i mentioned had me spectacularly vomiting Thursday night, and I’m continuing to eat much smaller meals than I would have previously. My weight has always had a tendency to “bounce around” though.

Any of you tried saxenda before?

Thanksforasking78 · 20/11/2022 17:33

I have and couldn’t get past day 3 on 3 occasions due to side effects. I’m feeling better on ozempic and have managed a month but am still having some side effects

Fedupofdiets · 20/11/2022 17:41

Hi all lovely to hear how everyone is getting on. I also started on Thursday having ordered via Numan. Started off on the 0.25mg dose. So far so so I think. Definitely feeling more bloated and full but having the repulsion to food I read about and still having some cravings. No awful side effects thank goodness and definitely eating less but can push myself to eat more if I want (greedy pig that i am!). Hope over time appetite will decrease more with the increased dose.

Fedupofdiets · 20/11/2022 18:21

*not having the repulsion

Queenelsarules · 20/11/2022 20:14

Hi, can I join in? Just signed up for Ozempic and feeling nervous, just waiting for someone to get back to me.

Stillwearingskinnies · 20/11/2022 20:51

So I've done 1 week on the 0.25 dose. The good news is I have lost 5lbs. Side effects haven't been too bad, I've felt nauseous a few times but it hasn't lasted and a couple of headaches but that could be tiredness (I'm a terrible sleeper).

But to be honest I can't work out whether my appetite has been suppressed or I've consciously chosen to eat less. I've still had cravings and mostly ignored them so I've snacked less. I've also been more organised and planned most of my meals. But it's hard to say whether the medication has "worked". The fact that I've forked out 150 quid might be a contributing factor!

Anyway, I've given myself the 2nd dose today and I've got my meals planned for the week so fingers crossed the weight continues to drop 🤞🏻
(I also have a code for Juniper if anyone would like 😁)

Queenelsarules · 20/11/2022 21:07

@Stillwearingskinnies
I've just signed up or I'd have definitely used your code! Good luck. Hoping they get back to me soon. DH was suggesting I wait til after Xmas as he knows how much I love all the food! Pointed out that I could easily put on another stone by then. Sugar/carb cravings are just getting more and more intense. I just want to stop.

Stillwearingskinnies · 20/11/2022 21:11

Thank you, and good luck too.
I had a similar conversation with DH yesterday. He's getting all excited about Christmas treats & I reminded him that I (hopefully) won't be eating as much. I think there's never a perfect time to do it so it might as well be now!

Queenelsarules · 20/11/2022 21:18

That was my thought process too, why wait? If I want to change then I need to change, and stop thinking of high days and holidays in terms of what I'm going to eat.

mathis2006 · 20/11/2022 21:24

I actually feels that Christmas is the perfect time to start. I do not want to be binging over Christmas. I am really happy that I will be able to control myself for once.

LovelaceBiggWither · 21/11/2022 01:47

.25 is a low dose so if you don't get any effects at that level, you may find it kicks in at a higher level. It's pretty unusual to see weightloss and/or side effects at .25.

thesilver · 21/11/2022 03:06

Hi Op. How are you getting on? Do you still have a referral code? It won't let me PM you. Thank you

Happierwithouthim · 21/11/2022 06:08

Still wearing skinnies my second dose is tonight, appetite definitely suppressed & sneak peek showing 5lbs loss also.
