Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

Week1 0.25mg 2.75lbs lost, scales was down another 2lbs yesterday morning but Tues to Tues this was my weight loss

PenguinTattoo · 22/11/2022 10:24

Week 1 at 0.25mg done, minimal side effects and 4lb down. I have definitely been eating a lot less and have tracked cals & protein via MFP. However this feels so much more achievable than anything else I have tried. I found as the week went on I could have eaten a lot more, but I was able to say just one bag of crisps and not a family size one as I would have before. No "oh f it, I'll start again tomorrow" episodes.

Is this how "normal" people feel all the time? They can make rationale decisions around food?!

MuckyPlucky · 22/11/2022 10:56

Hi all. Well done everyone who’s been losing so much impressive weight - you must feel amazing. A quick Q about the process / eligibility…. I’ve yo-yo’d in weight all my life. Recently lost a stone through ill-health & became a good weight for me (BMI 23) but have been binge-eating since then & have crept up to BMI 24.5 which is on the cusp of overweight again). Ozempic etc sound really good for breaking that compulsion to eat so I’d like to try it but do you have to be officially overweight to be able to buy it? And how do they check what your weight it (theoretically I could lie & say I’m 15 stone).

Thanks for any advice.

HermioneWeasley · 22/11/2022 12:12

@PenguinTattoo well done , yes it’s a revelation isn’t it? That this must be how other people feel about food. I was quite emotional the first few weeks - all those years of beating myself up for being greedy and weak willed when perhaps I just needed a little nudge in this hormone.

@MuckyPlucky i don’t know if you’d be eligible at that weight, but with My Juniper it’s a self declaration

Thanks @HermioneWeasley

I agree with you @PenguinTattoo , it's quite weird how my choices around food have shifted. I think I said that I lost quite a bit in my first week but I couldn't work out if it's the medication or just the fact that I am feeling completely ready to lose the weight (and the £££). Usually I feel really determined for a bit and lose the momentum but I'm into week 2 and I'm still keen to keep going.
Perhaps it's the ozempic after all. I just hope it continues

Stillwearingskinnies · 22/11/2022 14:12

Obviously I'm not ready to lose the £££, it's just the fact that I'm spending so much which could influence my food choices, iykwim.

Happierwithouthim · 22/11/2022 15:18

For me it's that I no longer have the feeling of not being full, I now make a choice to have a sweet treat but I don't crave all of the sweet treats and when I got dc bakery treats and they didn't finish them I was able to resist.

I didn't think I was binge eating before, just 3 meals and maybe a snack but now those meals are much smaller.

Two poached eggs on toast for my breakfast at 10am has always been my go to, but today I felt very full after it, so might cut back to one egg.

ifeelbeautifulbutunnoticed · 22/11/2022 15:32

Hi everyone,
I've gotten approved. My first dose should arrive tomorrow. I'm very excited to begin my weight loss journey.
For those who have started and are seeing the weight come off, I'm interested to know whether you've been exercising, and if yes, of what intensity. Thanks!

HermioneWeasley · 22/11/2022 17:17

@ifeelbeautifulbutunnoticed i do exercise but haven’t changed the levels since starting ozempic so that hasn’t made the difference

Katrinawaves · 22/11/2022 18:47

Could I join too please? My doctor recommended ozempic to me after I put on 2 stone following being prescribed medication for another condition - my weight is all around my waist and he is concerned about the risk of diabetes.

Ive completed the assessment form on Numan and am waiting to see if I get approved. My BMI has just hit 30 which is the highest it has ever been so I’m hoping this gets prescribed and that it works for me

S0upertrooper · 22/11/2022 18:57

I'm on week 4 of the full dose. I see my GP every 4 weeks for weigh in, blood pressure and new pen. I haven't been exercising as I have a lot of fibromyalgia pain which gets in the way of exercise and I'm still loosing weight and my BP is coming down. My alcohol intake has reduced massively, I no longer have the desire for it but on a couple of occasions when I have had more than a couple, I've felt really unwell.

It's amazing feeling in control of my eating habits.

HermioneWeasley · 22/11/2022 19:25

@S0upertrooper I think you’re one of the furthest along so thanks for sharing.

are you getting it on prescription from your GP?

OP posts:
Fedupofdiets · 22/11/2022 20:24

@Katrinawaves I used Numan last week, very simple was approved a few hours later and have booked a consultation in for next week.

It is lovely to hear everybody doing so well. I am on day 5 today and definitely have noticed the loss of cravings, feeling full most of the time, even bloated and no terrible side effects either. As others have said it is very strange not to be thinking about food alllll the time and I am making much much better choices. Will weigh in Friday and even if I have only lost a pound it will be the easiest pound I ever lost.

Fedupofdiets · 22/11/2022 20:26

A question though, what happens when your BMI drops to under 30 and you still want to lose? Will they still approve it (privately that is)?

DareDevil223 · 22/11/2022 20:29

I just wanted to drop in and encourage you all. I've been taking Ozempic for quite a while now and I've lost nearly 5 stone. I don't get side effects any more but I seem to be very sensitive to its effects and haven't had to go above 0.5mg (I buy a 1mg pen and make it last to bring the cost down!).
I haven't binged or overeaten in forever and I just feel like a normal person around food. I think unless you've struggled with disordered eating you can't understand how it feels to not be obsessed with food. It's been a life changer for me.

I still have about 4-41/2 stone to lose but I have confidence that I can do it. I weight train at the gym and walk as much as possible.

I'm mid-fifties and post-menopausal so it feels even more amazing to be able to acheive this.

S0upertrooper · 22/11/2022 20:40

@HermioneWeasley yes I get it on prescription but I'm not in the UK so that's not any help to those that are. My GP still had to justify it to my insurer on the grounds of high BP, also recent sleep apnea and Fibromyalgia diagnosis which weigh loss should help with.

LovelaceBiggWither · 23/11/2022 03:08

Week 7 here and still on .25. It does seem to be less effective but so unwilling to go up as it is impossible to get another pen until possibly the end of March here in Australia. BLG is still excellent though. Dilemma! Appetite suppression is definitely pretty much gone.
