I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I've done high fat, low carb for years. Ozempic is a very different way to approach BGL and weightloss. It's working for me when HFLC didn't.

Fedupofdiets · 15/11/2022 05:03

Very interested and wondering if anybody has a discount code? Will be joining you all very soon!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 15/11/2022 06:12

Health express has 5% off until the end of November with this code; PN2205

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 15/11/2022 06:13

Oh - but no Ozempic in any size just now

Fedupofdiets · 15/11/2022 06:52

Yes I've looked at Healthexpress. Was looking at Numan as they are selling at £159 for a months supply rather than Juniper which is £199.

cheesenpickle · 15/11/2022 07:40

@Fedupofdiets i cant find it on numan can you send me a link please? are they the only ones apart from juniper who have it in stock.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 15/11/2022 08:09

Numan Here hope it's right!

cheesenpickle · 15/11/2022 08:27

@TangoWhiskyAlphaTango thankyou!

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 15/11/2022 08:53

Hmmmm just placed an order but have to have a consultation which can't happen until end of next week. Is this the same with juniper?

Luckydog7 · 15/11/2022 08:59

Can I please have you referral code OP and name for the form too? Does anyone know if this will suit a low carb way of eating? It sounds like i should avoid much fat.

HermioneWeasley · 15/11/2022 09:57

@TangoWhiskyAlphaTango the approval process was v quick with My Juniper - within 24 hours

Jumping on here after years of yo yo and binge eating I need to do something. 18 stone start weight - yikes.
Is juniper the best site to buy from or can I get from high street pharmacy?

PenguinTattoo · 15/11/2022 10:10

About to do first injection - eek!

Lucky Dog, I've been doing lots and lots of research. Reducing fat is only if you are experiencing bad side effects I think, so initially at least low carb sounds fine. There seems to be a suggestion that protein helps with side effects generally, so it may even be a good choice.

PenguinTattoo · 15/11/2022 10:14

And thank you Hermoine, I used your Juniper code, consultation and approval within 24 hours on Thursday and delivery Saturday morning.

Sunshineandrainbow · 15/11/2022 10:24

I just went through juniper quiz and it said ozempic only Baikbel for type 2 diabetes in Australia. Am I on the wrong website??

I did my first injection last night, it's also my week off pill so I don't know which symptoms are from!
I've a low level feeling of nausea I guess but totally fine, felt awful altogether while on Metformin. I'm tired but I was out on Sat night drinking and I'm always tired week off pill anyhow.

€145 for .25mg pen in ROI

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 15/11/2022 13:13

I’ve been on Ozempic 2.5 months. Just started the 1mg dosage and am combining now with low carb. I’ve lost 2 stone and would like to lose maybe another 4.

The meds do make me feel like a Normal Person who doesn’t think about food constantly. I’ve lost weight in the past just with low carb and whilst it was easier than just calorie control I still thought about food a lot.

I would say that this isn’t a complete silver bullet. I do still want to eat and I have to plan it what I’m going to eat to ensure I don’t eat too much. But I’m now largely eating two meals a day to extend an overnight fast and am finding minimising snacks much, much easier than I did when it felt like a constant fight against myself.

I have had some minor side effects. When I started 0.25 and each time I have increased felt a bit nauseous for a while and have had constipation. Low carbing seems to help with gas.

Importantly my blood sugars were too high, particularly my fasting levels. These have come down to normal levels which was a relief.

I am concerned about the shortages and I see the NHS is not starting new patients on it. I use another supplier that isn’t mentioned here and so far no issues but it is a concern.

before I found out about Ozempic I was considering bariatric surgery as a last result. So I am very glad I’ve found it.

In Australia there is a severe shortage of ozempic. I've heard that some was supplied randomly over Australia this week but the TGA issued a statement a week or so ago that there will be no supply until the end of March 2023.

The TGA also requested months ago that doctors and pharmacists keep what is available for type 2 diabetics who meet the criteria (HBAC1 over 7). This got ignored for months but seems to be happening now.

Saxenda and bydureon and trulicity are also in very short supply.

Yes, wrong site. I did exactly the same though. Grin

HermioneWeasley · 17/11/2022 13:38

Third dose of 0.5 last night. The weird and very vivid dreams are definitely a side effect, though god knows why.

I took it earlier in the evening and ate a light dinner so I wasn’t uncomfortably full.

I haven’t lost any weight for a week, which I’m slightly surprised by, but putting down to the fact t I’ve been ill, so eating biscuits and not moving.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/11/2022 19:05

I've been thrown out of HealthExpress for not losing enough weight (they had a private supply of ozempic for existing clients). Signed up elsewhere and I can see that you have to lose 5% of your starting weight in 12 weeks or they will discontinue. I am hoping they will let me have some more especially as I never got up to 1mg which is surely how much you really need to get going. Maybe it is all a waste of money for me but I know it helped me keep my appetite down - I think I just wasn't trying hard enough - be aware.

Cantonet · 17/11/2022 19:53

I was with Health Express & they had no Ozempic for me two weeks ago. So I obtained my latest supply from Quick Meds.
I've also been ill & I didn't lose any weight for a week either. I wasn't eating much, but I also wasn't doing much either.
